Progress in Global Gas Hydrate Development and Production as a New Energy Resource显示文摘Natural gas hydrates have been hailed as a new and promising unconventional alternative energy, especially as fossil fuels approach depletion, energy consumption soars, and fossil fuel prices rise, owing to their extensive distribution, abundance, and high fuel efficiency.Gas hydrate reservoirs are similar to a storage cupboard in the global carbon cycle, containing most of the world's methane and accounting for a third of Earth's mobile organic carbon. We investigated gas hydrate stability zone burial depths from the viewpoint of conditions associated with stable existence of gas hydrates, such as temperature, pressure, and heat flow, based on related data collected by the global drilling programs.Hydrate-related areas are estimated using various biological, geochemical and geophysical tools.Based on a series of previous investigations,we cover the history and status of gas hydrate exploration in the USA,Japan,South Korea,India,Germany, the polar areas, and China. Then,we review the current techniques for hydrate exploration in a global scale.Additionally,we briefly review existing techniques for recovering methane from gas hydrates, including thermal stimulation, depressurization, chemical injection, and CH4-CO2 exchange,as well as corresponding global field trials in Russia,Japan,United States,Canada and China. In particular, unlike diagenetic gas hydrates in coarse sandy sediments in Japan and gravel sediments in the United States and Canada, most gas hydrates in the northem South China Sea are non-diagenetic and exist in fine-grained sediments with a vein-like morphology. Therefore, especially in terms of the offshore production test in gas hydrate reservoirs in the Shenhu area in the north slope of the South China Sea,Chinese scientists have proposed two unprecedented techniques that have been verified during the field trials:solid fluidization and formation fluid extraction.Herein,we introduce the two production techniques,as well as the so-called'fbur-in-one'environmental monitoring system employed during the Shenhu production test.Methane is not currently commercially produced from gas hydrates anywhere in the world;therefore, the objective of field trials is to prove whether existing techniques could be applied as feasible and economic production methods for gas hydrates in deep-water sediments and permafrost zones. Before achieving commercial methane recovery from gas hydrates,it should be necessary to measure the geologic properties of gas hydrate reservoirs to optimize and improve existing production techniques.Herein,we propose horizontal wells, multilateral wells, and cluster wells improved by the vertical and in dividual wells applied during existing field trials. It is noteworthy that relatively pure gas hydrates occur in seafloor mounds, within near-surface sediments, and in gas migration conduits.Their extensive distribution, high saturation, and easy access mean that these types of gas hydrate may attract considerable attention from academia and industry in the future.Herein,we also review the occurrence and development of concentrated shallow hydrate accumulations and briefly introduce exploration and production techniques. In the closing section,we discuss future research needs, key issues, and major challenges related to gas hydrate exploration and production. We believe this review article provides insight on past, present, and future gas hydrate exploration and production to provide guidelines and stimulate new work into the field of gas hydrates. | LIU Liping SUN Zhilei ZHANG Lei WU Nengyou Yichao Qin JIANG Zuzhou GENG Wei CAO Hong ZHANG Xilin ZHAI Bin XU Cuiling SHEN Zhicong JIA Yonggang | 2019 | Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2019,93,3: | 13
Retardant effect of dihydroartemisinin on ulcerative colitis in a JAK2/STAT3-dependent manner显示文摘Dihydroartemisinin(DHA)is a semi-synthetic derivative and the main active metabolite of artemisinin. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of DHA on the ulcerative colitis(UC)in both in vivo and in vitro models.Weight, survival rate, colon length, and Disease Activity Index score were used to evaluate the severity of colitis.Reverse transcription quantitative polymerase chain reaction and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay were used to detect the expressions of cytokines interleukin(IL)-1,IL-1β,IL-4,IL-6,IL-10,IL-12,and tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α).The expressions of Janus kinase 2(JAK2)and signal transducer and activator of transcription 3(STAT3),and the phosphorylation of JAK2(p-JAK2)and STAT3(p-STAT3),were measured by western blot analysis.Western blot analysis and immunohistochemistry were used to detect the expressions of tight junction proteins. We found that the weights and colon lengths of mice in dextran sodium sulfate(DSS)+DHA group were significantly lower and longer than those in the DSS group, respectively.Compared with those in the DSS group, the expressions of IL-1β,IL-6,IL-17,and TNF-αin the DSS+DHA and DSS+5-aminosalicylic acid(5-ASA)groups were decreased, while the expressions of IL-4 and IL-10 were significantly upregulated.DHA largely increased the expressions of zonula occludens-1 and occludin.Western blot analysis and/or immunohistochemical staining analysis showed that the expressions of JAK2,STAT3,p-JAK2,and p-STAT3 in DSS+DHA and DSS+5-ASA groups were significantly lower than those in DSS group.DHA has a specific therapeutic effect on UC.The anti-inflammatory mechanism of DHA is related to the blockage of the JAK2/STAT3 signaling pathway. These findings provide evidence that DHA may be a useful drug and is expected to become a promising new treatment for human UC. | Mingrui Jiang Guangjun Zhong Yichao Zhu Liuhua Wang Yuzhe He Qiannan Sun Xiaoqing Wu Xiaolan You Sujun Gao Dong Tang Daorong Wang | 2021 | Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2021,53,9: | 6
Soil biofilms:microbial interactions, challenges, and advanced techniques for ex-situ characterization显示文摘Soil is inhabited by a myriad of microorganisms, many of which can form supracellular structures, called biofilms, comprised of surface-associated microbial cells embedded in hydrated extracellular polymeric substance that facilitates adhesion and survival.Biofilms enable intensive inter-and intra-species interactions that can increase the degradation efficiency of soil organic matter and materials commonly regarded as toxins. Here,we first discuss organization, dynamics and properties of soil biofilms in the context of traditional approaches to probe the soil microbiome.Social interactions among bacteria, such as cooperation and competition, are discussed. We also summarize different biofilm cultivation devices in combination with optics and fluorescence microscopes as well as sequencing techniques for the study of soil biofilms.Microfluidic platforms, which can be applied to mimic the complex soil environment and study microbial behaviors at the microscale with highthroughput screening and novel measurements, are also highlighted. This review aims to highlight soil biofilm research in order to expand the current limited knowledge about soil microbiomes which until now has mostly ignored biofilms as a dominant growth form. | Peng Cai Xiaojie Sun Yichao Wu Chunhui Gao Monika Mortimer Patricia A.Holden Marc Redmile-Gordon Qiaoyun Huang | 2019 | Soil Ecology Letters2019,1,3: | 4
Severity of early allograft dysfunction following donation after circulatory death liver transplantation:a multicentre study显示文摘Background:Early allograft dysfunction(EAD)is associated with decreased graft and patient survival rates. This study aimed to identify the severity of EAD and develop a predictive model for EAD after donation after circulatory death(DCD)liver transplantation(LT).Furthermore, the influence of operative time on EAD incidence was also evaluated. Methods:In this retrospective, multicentre cohort study, nomograms were established based on a single-centre training cohort(n=321)and validated in a 3-center validation cohort(n=501).Results:The incidence rate of EAD was 46.4%(149/321)in the training cohort and 40.5%(203/501)in the validation cohort.Of the 149 EAD patients in the training cohort,77 patients with either elevated alanine aminotransferase(ALT)or aspartate aminotransferase(AST)were classified as having EAD type A,and the rest of the EAD patients were classified as having EAD type B.Recipients with EAD type B had lower graft and patient survival rates than recipients with EAD type A(P=0.043 and 0.044,respectively).We further developed a nomogram to predict EAD(graft weight, cold ischemia time, donor age, model for end-stage liver disease(MELD)score)and another nomogram to predict EAD type B(graft weight, cold ischemia time,MELD score). The nomograms for the prediction of EAD and EAD type B had good discrimination[concordance index(C-index)=0.712(0.666-0.758),0.707(0.641-0.773)]and calibration[Hosmer-Lemeshow(HL)P=0.384,P=0.425]in the validation cohort. An increased operative time(>6 h)was associated with increased EAD and EAD type B incidence in the high-risk group(P=0.005,P=0.020,respectively).Conclusions:EAD type B was associated with decreased graft and patient survival rates. The novel nomograms effectively predicted the incidence of EAD and EAD type B in DCD LT patients. | Kun Wang Di Lu Yuhui Liu Wangyao Li Li Zhuang Zhenyu Ma Qinfen Xie Binhua Pan Yichao Wu Junli Chen Lidan Lin Xiaowen Feng Qiang Wei Xuyong Wei Haiyang Xie Zhengxin Wang Shusen Zheng Xiao Xu | 2021 | Hepatobiliary Surgery and Nutrition2021,10,1: | 4
Molecular subtyping of hepatocellular carcinoma:A step toward precision medicine显示文摘Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is one of the most prevalent and fatal digestive tumors.Treatment for this disease has been constraint by heterogeneity of this group of tumors, which has greatly limited the progress in personalized therapy.Although existing studies have revealed the genetic and epigenetic blueprints that drive HCCs,many of the molecular mechanisms that lead to HCCs remain elusive.Recent advances in techniques for studying functional genomics, such as genome sequencing and transcriptomic analyses, have led to the discovery of molecular mechanisms that participate in the initiation and evolution of HCC.Integrative multi-omics analyses have identified several molecular subtypes of HCC associated with specific molecular characteristics and clinical outcomes.Deciphering similar molecular features among highly heterogeneous HCC patients is a prerequisite to implementation of personalized therapeutics. This review summarizes the current research progresses in precision therapy on the backbone of molecular subtypes of HCC. | Yichao Wu Zhikun Liu Xiao Xu | 2020 | Cancer Communications2020,40,12: | 3
High-rate performance magnesium batteries achieved by direct growth of honeycomb-like V_(2)O_(5)electrodes with rich oxygen vacancies显示文摘Rechargeable magnesium batteries(RMBs)have emerged as a promising next-generation electrochemical energy storage technology due to their superiority of low price and high safety. However, the practical applications of RMBs are severely limited by immature electrode materials.Especially, the high-rate cathode materials are highly desired.Herein,we propose a dualfunctional design of V_(2)O_(5)electrode with rational honeycomb-like structure and rich oxygen vacancies to enhance the kinetics synergistically. The result demonstrates that oxygen vacancies can not only boost the intrinsic electronic conductivity of V_(2)O_(5),but also enhance the Mg^(2+)diffusion kinetics inside the cathode, leading to the good high-rate performance.Moreover,ex-situ X-ray diffraction(XRD),transmission electron microscopy(TEM),and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)characterizations reveal that Mg^(2+)is mainly intercalated from the(101)plane of V_(2)O_(5)−X based on the insertion-type electrochemical mechanism;meanwhile, the highly reversible structure evolution during Mg^(2+)insertion/extraction is also verified. This work proposes that the dual-functional design of electrode has a great influence in enhancing the electrochemical performance of cathode materials for RMBs. | Dongzheng Wu Yichao Zhuang Fei Wang Yang Yang Jing Zeng Jinbao Zhao | 2023 | Nano Research2023,16,4: | 2
Soil phyllosilicate and iron oxide inhibit the quorum sensing of Chromobacterium violaceum显示文摘Microorganisms respond to various adverse environmental conditions and regulate different physiological functions by secreting and sensing signal molecules through quorum sensing(QS)systems.Phyllosilicates and iron oxides present in soils and sediments may have substantial impact on bacterial activity and QS due to their unique reactivity and close association with microorganisms. This research explored the effect of goethite, montmorillonite and kaolinite(0.05–2gL^(–1))on the growth and QS of a bacterial model,Chromobacterium violaceum. The results showed that kaolinite and goethite caused cellular damage at low mineral concentrations. The capacity for violacein production and biofilm formation of C.violaceum were inhibited by the minerals in the order of kaolinite>goethite>montmorillonite. The possible underlying mechanisms for QS inhibition by different minerals were investigated.Specifically, kaolinite repressed QS function through downregulation the expression of signal molecules synthesis gene cviI.Goethite and montmorillonite interfered with QS by adsorption of extracellular signal molecules. This work provides a better understanding of the interactions between bacteria and minerals and proposed that the inhibition of QS system is an ignored mechanism for bacterial toxicity by phyllosilicates and iron oxides. | Shanshan Yang Chenchen Qu Manisha Mukherjee Yichao Wu Qiaoyun Huang Peng Cai | 2021 | Soil Ecology Letters2021,3,1: | 2
Cosmological parameter fittings with the BICEP2 data显示文摘Combining the latest Planck,Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe(WMAP),and baryon acoustic oscillation(BAO)data,we exploit the recent cosmic microwave background(CMB)B-mode power spectra data released by the BICEP2 collaboration to constrain the cosmological parameters of the ACDM model, especially the primordial power spectra parameters of the scalar and the tensor modes,ns,s,r,nt.We obtain constraints on the parameters for a lensed ACDM model using the Markov Chain Monte Carlo(MCMC)technique, the marginalized 68%bounds are r=0.03070.09140.1043,ns=0.00610.00610.9617,s=0.01050.00970.0175,nt=0.45150.45790.5198.We find that a blue tilt for nt is favored slightly, but it is still well consistent with flat or even red tilt. Our r value is slightly smaller than the one obtained by the BICEP group,in that we permit nt as a free parameter without imposing the single-field slow roll inflation consistency relation. When we impose this relation, then r=0.04460.06090.2130.For most other parameters, the best fit values and measurement errors are not altered significantly by the introduction of the BICEP2 data. | WU FengQuan LI YiChao LU YouJun CHEN XueLei | 2014 | Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2014,57,8: | 2
Dynamic degradation patterns of porous polycaprolactone/β-tricalcium phosphate composites orchestrate macrophage responses and immunoregulatory bone regeneration显示文摘Biodegradable polycaprolactone/β-tricalcium phosphate(PT)composites are desirable candidates for bone tissue engineering applications.A higherβ-tricalcium phosphate(TCP)ceramic content improves the mechanical, hydrophilic and osteogenic properties of PT scaffolds in vitro.Using a dynamic degradation reactor,we estab-lished a steady in vitro degradation model to investigate the changes in the physio-chemical and biological properties of PT scaffolds during degradation.PT46 and PT37 scaffolds underwent degradation more rapidly than PT scaffolds with lower TCP contents. In vivo studies revealed the rapid degradation of PT(PT46 and PT37)scaffolds disturbed macrophage responses and lead to bone healing failure.Macrophage co-culture assays and a subcutaneous implantation model indicated that the scaffold degradation process dynamically affected macro-phage responses, especially polarization.RNA-Seq analysis indicated phagocytosis of the degradation products of PT37 scaffolds induces oxidative stress and inflammatory M1 polarization in macrophages.Overall, this study reveals that the dynamic patterns of biodegradation of degradable bone scaffolds highly orchestrate immune responses and thus determine the success of bone regeneration. Therefore, through evaluation of the biological effects of biomaterials during the entire process of degradation on immune responses and bone regeneration are necessary in order to develop more promising biomaterials for bone regeneration. | Hao Wu Xinghui Wei Yichao Liu Hui Dong Zhen Tang Ning Wang Shusen Bao Zhigang Wu Lei Shi Xiongfei Zheng Xiaokang Li Zheng Guo | 2023 | Bioactive Materials2023,,3: | 1

Flow instability of supercritical hydrocarbon fuel in a multi-channel cooling system显示文摘Thermally-induced flow instabilities are a critical issue in multi-channel regenerative cooling systems. In particular, the interactions between Density-Wave Oscillations(DWO)and Flow Maldistribution(FMD)can result in complex and disastrous instability phenomena. This study investigates the instability behaviors of hydrocarbon fluid in a four-channel system with a constant heat flux ratio using both frequency-and time-domain methods. As the heat flux increases, the in-tube flow sequentially destabilizes in each channel and converges to new equilibrium states, leading to the emergence of FMD phenomena. This also causes the system eigenvalue to change repeatedly from negative to positive rather than increasing monotonically.Additionally, the system eigenvalues are between those of the two most unstable channels, indicating that the stability behavior of the entire system is dictated by the most unstable channel. After FMD occurs, flow oscillations are activated in channels with weak stability, and the in-tube flow is observed to evolve into various flow patterns, including stable flow,self-sustained oscillation, oscillation divergence, quasiperiodic oscillation, and oscillation excursion. The novel instability mode of oscillation excursion involves a spontaneous transition of operating states. It oscillates from an equilibrium state and then stabilizes at a new operational state after oscillation-induced redistribution. However, the newfound stable state may also be only temporary, with the in-tube flow regressing to the initial state, resulting in quasi-periodic oscillation. | Yichao JIN Kun WU Xuejun FAN | 2024 | Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2024,37,2: | 0
