1Immunohistochemical study on p53,H-rasp21,c-erbB-2 protein and PCNA expression in HCC tissues of Hart and minority ethnic patients显示文摘AIM To find out the difference of humanprimary liver carcinogenesis between Han andminority ethnic patients in Xinjiang.METHODS Expression of p53,c-erbB-2,H-rasp21 protein and proliferating cell nuclearantigen(PCNA)in tumor tissues of 50 patients(Han 38,minority 12)with primary hepaticcarcinoma was detected byimmunohistochemistry(LSAB).RESULTS The positive frequency of p53,c-erbB-2,H-rasp21 and PCNA expression was46.0%(23/50),70.0%(35/50),68.0%(34/50)and 82.0%(41/50)in tumor tissues;4.0%(2/50),22.0%(11/50),64.0%(32/50)and 52.0%(26/ 50)in peritumors respectively and asignificant difference,except for H-rasp21,ofoncogene alteration was found(P<0.05)between tumor and non-tumorous tissues.Combined the three oncogenes alteration,26%(13/50)tumor tissues had positiveimmunoreactivity,but in peritumor and normallivers it was negative.The positive rate of p53,c-erbB-2 and H-rasp21 protein expression was39.5%(15/38),60.5%(23/38)and 39.5%(15/38)in tumors of Han patients;66.7%(8/12),100%(12/12)and 75.0%(9/12)in minoritiesrespectively,with statistical difference (P<0.05).CONCLUSION Overexpression of p53,c-erbB-2and H-rasp21 in human primary liver carcinoma isan important biomarker of genetic alteration.The different frequency of these oncogeneticchanges may reflect some environmental or/andethnic hereditary factors affecting the livercarcinogenesis.The special life style of Han,Uygur,Kazak and Mongolia nationalities inXinjiang may also be related to theetiopathogenesis of this disease.Guo Yue Lin Zhao Lun Chen Cai Mo Lu Ying Li Xiao Jia Ping Rong Huang Department of Laboratory Medicine,Chinese PLA 474 Hospital,Urumqi 830011,Xinjiang Uygur Autonomic Region,China Department of Pathology,the 1st Teaching Hospital,Xinjiang Medical University,Urumqi 830054,Xinjiang Uygur Autonomic Region,China 2000World Journal of Gastroenterology2000,6,2:40
2The Association of Maternal Body Composition and Dietary Intake with the Risk of Gestational Diabetes Mellitus during the Second Trimester in a Cohort of Chinese Pregnant Women显示文摘Objective To investigate the association of maternal body composition and dietary intake with the risk of gestational diabetes mellitus(GDM). Methods A total 154 GDM subjects and 981 controls were enrolled in a prospective cohort study in 11 hospitals from May 20, 2012 to December 31, 2013. Bioelectrical impedance analysis and dietary surveys were used to determine body composition and to evaluate the intake of nutrients in subjects at 21-24 weeks' gestation(WG). Logistic regression analysis was applied to explore the relationships of maternal body composition and dietary intake with the risk of GDM morbidity. Results Age, pre-pregnant body weight(BW), and body mass index(BMI) were associated with increased risk of GDM. Fat mass(FM), fat mass percentage(FMP), extracellular water(ECW), BMI, BW, energy, protein, fat, and carbohydrates at 21-24 WG were associated with an increased risk of GDM. In contrast, fat free mass(FFM), muscular mass(MM), and intracellular water(ICW) were associated with a decreased risk of GDM. 7Application of biochar-based materials in environmental remediation:from multi-level structures to specific devices显示文摘The development of biochar has triggered a hot-spot in various research fields including agriculture,energy,environment,and materials.Biochar-based materials provide a novel approach against environmental challenging issues.Considering the rapid development of biochar materials,this review serves as a valuable platform to summarize the recent progress on the theoretical investigation and engineering applications of biochar materials in environmental remediation.For a better understanding of the structure-application relationships,the structural properties of biochar from macroscopic and microscopic aspects are summarized.The multilevel structures including elements,phases,surface chemistry,and molecular are highlighted to elucidate the multi-functional properties of biochars.Sorption,catalysis,redox reaction,and biological activity of biochar are briefly illustrated,which influence the transport,transformation,and removal of organic and inorganic pollutants in the environments.According to the multi-level structures and structure-application relationships of biochar,specific biochar-based materials and devices have been designed for practical environmental application.The important progress on the functionalization and device of biochar-based materials,including magnetic biochars,2D and 3D biochar-based macrostructures,immobilized microorganism on biochar,and biochar-amended biofilters are highlighted.The environmental friendliness and sustainability of biochar-based materials,considering the whole cycle from synthesis to application,are evaluated.Lun Lu Wentao Yu Yaofeng Wang Kun Zhang Xiaomin Zhu Yuecan Zhang Yajing Wu Habib Ullah Xin Xiao Baoliang Chen 2020Biochar2020,2,1:11

10Evaluating the safety of forsythin from Forsythia suspensa leaves by acute and sub-chronic oral administration in rodent models显示文摘Objective: To access the toxicity of forsythin from Forsythia suspensa leaves and evaluate its safety,Methods: Acute toxicity was determined by oral administration of a single dose of 18 100 mg/kg forsythin in NIH mice,Sub-chronic toxicity was evaluated by oral administration of several doses of forsythin for 30 days at does of 0,540,1 620,and 6 480 mg/kg in SD rats.Results: In the acute toxicity study,mortality was not observed after 14 days,In addition,clinically relevant adverse effects,or variations in body weight or food consumption were not observed,Similarly,after 30 days in the sub-chronic toxicity study,no mortality or significant toxicological effects such as decreased food consumption,body weight,biochemical parameters and vital organs etc,were noticed,Conclusion: The results revealed that the forsythin from Forsythia suspensa leaves has low or no toxicity via oral administration,and therefore is suitable for further development and applications.Zhong Han Xia-Ling Lei Hong Zhang Lu Liu Zhi-Sen Chen Wei Yang Zhao-Rong Lun 2017Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2017,10,1:8

15Lijiang 2.4-meter Telescope and its instruments显示文摘The Lijiang 2.4-meter Telescope(LJT), the largest common-purpose optical telescope in China,has been available to the worldwide astronomical community since 2008. It is located at the Gaomeigu site,Lijiang Observatory(LJO), in the southwest of China. The site has very good observational conditions.During its 10-year operation, several instruments have been equipped on the LJT. Astronomers can perform both photometric and spectral observations. The main scientific goals of LJT include recording photometric and spectral evolution of supernovae, reverberation mapping of active galactic nuclei, investigating the physical properties of binary stars and near-earth objects(comets and asteroids), and identification of exoplanets and all kinds of transients. Until now, the masses of 41 high accretion rate black holes have been measured, and more than 168 supernovae have been identified by the LJT. More than 190 papers related to the LJT have been published. In this paper, the general observation conditions of the Gaomeigu site is introduced at first. Then, the structure of the LJT is described in detail, including the optical, mechanical, motion and control system. The specification of all the instruments and some detailed parameters of the YFOSC is also presented. 16Recent Advancements on Photothermal Conversion and Antibacterial Applications over MXenes-Based Materials显示文摘The pernicious bacterial proliferation and emergence of super-resistant bacteria have already posed a great threat to public health,which drives researchers to develop antibiotic-free strategies to eradicate these fierce microbes.Although enormous achievements have already been achieved,it remains an arduous challenge to realize efficient sterilization to cut off the drug resistance generation.Recently,photothermal therapy(PTT)has emerged as a promising solution to efficiently damage the integrity of pathogenic bacteria based on hyperthermia beyond their tolerance.Until now,numerous photothermal agents have been studied for antimicrobial PTT.Among them,MXenes(a type of two-dimensional transition metal carbides or nitrides)are extensively investigated as one of the most promising candidates due to their high aspect ratio,atomic-thin thickness,excellent photothermal performance,low cytotoxicity,and ultrahigh dispersibility in aqueous systems.Besides,the enormous application scenarios using their antibacterial properties can be tailored via elaborated designs of MXenes-based materials.In this review,the synthetic approaches and textural properties of MXenes have been systematically presented first,and then the photothermal properties and sterilization mechanisms using MXenes-based materials are documented.Subsequently,recent progress in diverse fields making use of the photothermal and antibacterial performances of MXenes-based materials are well summarized to reveal the potential applications of these materials for various purposes,including in vitro and in vivo sterilization,solar water evaporation and purification,and flexible antibacterial fabrics.Last but not least,the current challenges and future perspectives are discussed to provide theoretical guidance for the fabrication of efficient antimicrobial systems using MXenes.Shuyan Hao Hecheng Han Zhengyi Yang Mengting Chen Yanyan Jiang Guixia Lu Lun Dong Hongling Wen Hui Li Jiurong Liu Lili Wu Zhou Wang Fenglong Wang 2022Nano-Micro Letters2022,14,11:4
17Phase Ⅰ/Ⅱ randomized controlled trial of autologous bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cell therapy for chronic stroke显示文摘AIM To examine the safety and efficacy of mesenchymal stem cell(MSC) therapy for intracerebral haemorrhage with neurological dysfunctions for a year.METHODS MSC were ex vivo expanded from 29 mL(17-42 mL) autologous bone marrow. Patients were randomized to have two intravenous injections of autologous MSC or placebos in four weeks apart. Neurological functions and clinical outcomes were monitored before treatment and at 12^(th), 16^(th), 24^(th), 36^(th) and 60^(th) week upon completion of^(th)e treatment. RESULTS A mean of 4.57 × 10~7(range: 1.43 × 10~7-8.40 × 10~7) MSC per infusion was administered accounting to 8.54 × 10~5(2.65 × 10~5-1.45 × 10~6) per kilogram body weight in two occasions. There was neither adverse event at time of administration nor sign of de novo tumour development among patients after monitoring for a year post MSC therapy. Neuro-restoration and clinical improvement in terms of modified Barthel index, functional independence measure and extended Glasgow Outcome Scale were evident among patients having MSC therapy compared to patients receiving placebos. 18Spirulina platensis aqueous extracts ameliorate colonic mucosal damage and modulate gut microbiota disorder in mice with ulcerative colitis by inhibiting inflammation and oxidative stress显示文摘Ulcerative colitis(UC)is a chronic and recurrent inflammatory bowel disease(IBD)that has become a major gastroenterologic problem during recent decades.Numerous complicating factors are involved in UC development such as oxidative stress,inflammation,and microbiota disorder.These factors exacerbate damage to the intestinal mucosal barrier.Spirulina platensis is a commercial alga with various biological activity that is widely used as a functional ingredient in food and beverage products.However,there have been few studies on the treatment of UC using S.platensis aqueous extracts(SP),and the underlying mechanism of action of SP against UC has not yet been elucidated.Herein,we aimed to investigate the modulatory effect of SP on microbiota disorders in UC mice and clarify the underlying mechanisms by which SP alleviates damage to the intestinal mucosal barrier.Dextran sulfate sodium(DSS)was used to establish a normal human colonic epithelial cell(NCM460)injury model and UC animal model.The mitochondrial membrane potential assay 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide(MTT)and staining with Annexin V-fluorescein isothiocyanate(FITC)/propidium iodide(PI)and Hoechst 33258 were carried out to determine the effects of SP on the NCM460 cell injury model.Moreover,hematoxylin and eosin(H&E)staining,transmission electron microscopy(TEM),enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA),quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction(qPCR),western blot,and 16S ribosomal DNA(rDNA)sequencing were used to explore the effects and underlying mechanisms of action of SP on UC in C57BL/6 mice.In vitro studies showed that SP alleviated DSS-induced NCM460 cell injury.SP also significantly reduced the excessive generation of intracellular reactive oxygen species(ROS)and prevented mitochondrial membrane potential reduction after DSS challenge.In vivo studies indicated that SP administration could alleviate the severity of DSS-induced colonic mucosal damage compared with the control group.Inhibition of inflammation and oxidative stress was associated with increases in the activity of antioxidant enzymes and the expression of tight junction proteins(TJs)post-SP treatment.SP improved gut microbiota disorder mainly by increasing antioxidant enzyme activity and the expression of TJs in the colon.Our findings demonstrate that the protective effect of SP against UC is based on its inhibition of pro-inflammatory cytokine overproduction,inhibition of DSS-induced ROS production,and enhanced expression of antioxidant enzymes and TJs in the colonic mucosal barrier.Jian WANG Liqian SU Lun ZHANG Jiali ZENG Qingru CHEN Rui DENG Ziyan WANG Weidong KUANG Xiaobao JIN Shuiqing GUI Yinghua XU Xuemei LU 2022Journal of Zhejiang University-Science B(Biomedicine & Biotechnology)2022,23,6:3
19Effect of the exposure to suspended solids on the enzymatic activity in the bivalve Sinonovacula constricta显示文摘Aquatic animals are susceptible to sudden changes of their living environment but they adopt strategies to cope with adverse environmental challenges.Contamination by suspended solids,often associated with a dramatic change in the concentrations of important water-quality variables is a frequent occurrence in China's coastal waters and estuaries.Here we studied the impact of suspended solids on the activities of the antioxidant enzymes superoxide dismutase(SOD)and catalase(CAT),as well as adenosine triphosphates(including Na^(+)K^(+)-ATPase,Mg^(++)-ATPase,Ca^(++)-ATPase)and H^(+)K^(+)-ATPase in the gills and visceral mass tissues of the molluscan bivalve Sinonovacula constricta exposed(4,8,12,16,20,and 24 days)to various concentrations of suspended solids.Our results showed that the antioxidant enzymes cooperated closely to effectively scavenge superoxide anion free radicals and H2O2(which can ultimately inhibit gill activity)through the modification of SOD and/or CAT enzymatic activities.ATPases activity(considered to be a sensitive indicator of toxicity)could play an effective role in the maintenance of functional integrity of the plasma membranes as well as some other intracellular functions.After the exposure,a decrease in the Nat K^(+)-ATPase,Mg^(++)-ATPase,and Ca^(++)-ATPase activity of the gills was observed suggesting that they were inhibited by the treatments.These results also indicated that,from day 4 to day 16,exposure to high concentrations of suspended solids had an inhibitory effect on the activity of H^(+)-K^(+)-ATPase in the visceral mass of S.constricta.However,after a period of adaptation the H^(+)-K^(+)-ATPase activity was restored to original levels.Our results suggest that long-term exposure to high levels of suspended solids disturb osmoregulation,gastric acid secretion and digestion,cause oxidative damage,as a consequence of antioxidant enzymes inactivation which eventually damages the gills,affect the food intake and transformation,ultimately resulting in systems failure and eventually death.Guojun Yang Lun Song Xiaoqian Lu Nianbin Wang Yang Li 2017Aquaculture and Fisheries2017,2,1:3
20Seasonal Variation of Environmental Variables and Phytoplankton Community Structure and Their Relationship in Liaodong Bay of Bohai Sea,China显示文摘In this paper, systematic studies on the changes in concentrations of the environmental factors and the net-phytoplankton community, and the relationship between them in the Liaodong Bay, Bohai Sea during 2013 are presented. The PCA results showed that higher levels of nutrients and dissolved heavy metals in the river-estuary-bay system were closely related to the river runoff. Since the influences of industrial and anthropogenic activities, the Liaodong Bay coastal areas are facing a huge environmental challenge of nutrients and heavy metal pollution. Net-phytoplankton community structure showed obvious seasonal succession, among which the dominant and(or) key species were the main factors affecting community structure change and stability. Under certain environmental conditions, the dominant species and(or) key species dominated the phytoplankton community structure succession. The Bio-ENV results suggested that the seawater temperature, nutrient, Cu, Pb, Zn, and Cd in Liaodong Bay are important environmental variables that affect the phytoplankton community structure.
