| 1 | A restoration-promoting integrated floating bed and its experimental performance in eutrophication remediation显示文摘Numerous studies on eutrophication remediation have mainly focused on purifying water first, then restoring submerged macrophytes. A restoration-promoting integrated floating bed(RPIFB) was designed to combine the processes of water purification and macrophyte restoration simultaneously. Two outdoor experiments were conducted to evaluate the ecological functions of the RPIFB. Trial 1 was conducted to compare the eutrophication purification among floating bed, gradual-submerging bed(GSB) and RPIFB technologies. The results illustrated that RPIFB has the best purification capacity. Removal efficiencies of RPIFB for TN, TP, NH+ 4-N, NO-3-N, CODCr, Chlorophyll-a and turbidity were 74.45%, 98.31%, 74.71%, 88.81%, 71.42%, 90.17% and 85%, respectively. In trial 2, influences of depth of GSB and photic area in RPIFB on biota were investigated. When the depth of GSB decreased and the photic area of RPIFB grew, the height of Potamogeton crispus Linn. increased, but the biomass of Canna indica Linn. was reduced. The mortalities of Misgurnus anguillicaudatus and Bellamya aeruginosa in each group were all less than 7%. All results indicated that when the RPIFB was embedded into the eutrophic water, the regime shift from phytoplankton-dominated to macrophyte-dominated state could be promoted. | 2 | Personalized targeted therapy for esophageal squamous cell carcinoma显示文摘Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma continues to heavily burden clinicians worldwide. Researchers have discovered the genomic landscape of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma, which holds promise for an era of personalized oncology care. One of the most pressing problems facing this issue is to improve the understanding of the newly available genomic data, and identify the driver-gene mutations, pathways, and networks. The emergence of a legion of novel targeted agents has generated much hope and hype regarding more potent treatment regimens, but the accuracy of drug selection is still arguable. Other problems, such as cancer heterogeneity, drug resistance, exceptional responders, and side effects, have to be surmounted. | 3 | Rat model of cholelithiasis with human gallstones implanted in cholestasis-induced virtual gallbladder显示文摘AIM:To facilitate translational research on cholelithiasis,we have developed a rat model of human gallstones by exploiting the unique biliopancreatic features of this species.METHODS:Under anesthesia,16 adult rats of equal genders underwent two times of abdominal surgery.First,their common bile duct(CBD)was ligated to cause cholestasis by total biliary obstruction(TBO).On day 0,1,3,7,14,21 and 28 after TBO,magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)was conducted to monitor the dilatation of the CBD,and blood was sampled to analyze total serum bilirubin(TSB).Secondly,on day 30,the abdomen was re-opened and gallstone(s)collected from human patients were implanted in the dilated CBD asa virtual gallbladder(VGB),which was closed by suture ligation.This rat cholelithiasis model was examined by MRI,clinical observation,microcholangiography and histology.RESULTS:All rats survived two laparotomies.After ligation,the CBD was dilated to a stable size of 4 to30 mm in diameter on day 21-28,which became a VGB.The rats initially showed signs of jaundice that diminished over time,which paralleled with the evolving TSB levels from 0.6±0.3 mg/d L before ligation,through a peak of 10.9±1.9 mg/dL on day 14,until a nearly normalized value after day 28.The dilated CBD with thickened wall allowed an incision for implantation of human gallstones of 1-10 mm in diameter.The rat cholelithiasis was proven by in vivo MRI and postmortem microcholangiography and histomorphology.CONCLUSION:A rat model cholelithiasis with human gallstones has been established,which proves feasible,safe,reliable,nontoxic and cost-effective.Given the gallstones of human origin,applications of this model may be of help in translational research such as optical detection and lysis of gallstones by systemic drug administration. | Marlein Miranda Cona Yewei Liu Ting Yin Yuanbo Feng Feng Chen Stefaan Mulier Yue Li Jian Zhang Raymond Oyen Yicheng Ni | 2016 | World Journal of Methodology2016,6,2: | 7 |
| 4 | MicroRNAs in heart and circulation during physical exercise显示文摘Exercise training is beneficial to the cardiovascular system. MicroRNAs(miRNAs, miRs) are a class of conserved non-coding RNAs and play a wide-ranging role in the regulation of eukaryotic gene expression. Exercise training alters the expression levels of large amounts of miRNAs in the heart. In addition, circulating miRNAs appear to be regulated by exercise training. In this review, we will summarize recent advances in the regulation of miRNAs during physical exercise intervention in various cardiovascular diseases, including pathologic cardiac hypertrophy, myocardial fibrosis, ischemia-reperfusion injury, myocardial infarction, and heart failure. The regulatory role of circulating miRNAs after exercise training was also reviewed. | 5 | Viral MIPα homologous with human MIP-1α acts on HIV co-receptor CCR5显示文摘The function and usage of vMIPα encoded by K6 gene of herpesvirus 8 (HHV8) which has homology with human macrophage protein (MIP) have not been clearly known. In the present note the K6 gene of HHV8 was cloned and transfected into NIH3T3 cells and E. coli cells. Conditional media from the 3T3-transfected cells and K6 product vMIPa from E. coli. Cells were used to perform the experiments of ligand-receptor binding and cellular adhesion with peripheral blood macrophages. The conditional media and the purified vMIPa from E. coli could compete to bind to CCR5 located on macrophages from peripheral blood with I125-hMIP-1α chemokine of human. Cellular adhesion showed that the conditional media from transfected cells and the purified vMIPa did not induce the adhesion of macrophages from peripheral blood to ICAM-1. In conclusion, vMIPα encoded by K6 gene of HHV8 can bind to CCR5 of peripheral blood macrophage cells and does not induce their adhesion. | 6 | Effects of stress dependent electrochemical reaction on voltage hysteresis of lithium ion batteries显示文摘Intercalation of lithium ions into the electrodes of lithium ion batteries is affected by the stress of active materials, leading to energy dissipation and stress dependent voltage hysteresis. A reaction-diffusion-stress coupling model is established to investigate the stress effects under galvanostatic and potentiostatic operations. It is found from simulations that the stress hysteresis contributes to the voltage hysteresis and leads to the energy dissipation. In addition, the stress induced voltage hysteresis is small in low rate galvanostatic operations but extraordinarily significant in high rate cases. In potentiostatic operations, the stresses and stress induced overpotentials increase to a peak value very soon after the operation commences and decays all the left time. Therefore,a combined charge-discharge operation is suggested, i.e., first the galvanostatic one and then the potentiostatic one. | 8 | Impact of EV load uncertainty on optimal planning for electric vehicle charging station显示文摘With the development of electric vehicles(EV), there is a huge demand for electric vehicle charging stations(EVCS). The utilization of renewable energy sources(RES) in EVCS can not only decrease the energy fluctuation by participating in peakload reduction of the grid, but also reduce the pollution to the environment by cutting down the use of fossil fuels. In this paper,the optimal planning for grid-connected EVCS with RES is studied by considering EV load uncertainty. Nine scenarios are set based on a different characteristic of EV load to reveal the impact of EV load on net present cost(NPC) and to express the relationship between the optimal capacity and energy flow. Moreover, since electricity price also plays an important role in EVCS planning, an economic comparison between different cases with different electricity prices for peak-valley-flat period is carried out. | 9 | Growth inhibition and oxidative damage of Microcystis aeruginosa induced by crude extract of Sagittaria trifolia tubers显示文摘Aquatic macrophytes are considered to be promising in controlling harmful cyanobacterial blooms. In this research, an aqueous extract of Sagittaria trifolia tubers was prepared to study its inhibitory effect on Microcystis aeruginosa in the laboratory. Several physiological indices of M. aeruginosa, in response to the environmental stress, were analyzed. Results showed that S. trifolia tuber aqueous extract significantly inhibited the growth of M. aeruginosa in a concentration-dependent way. The highest inhibition rate reached 90% after 6 day treatment. The Chlorophyll-a concentration of M. aeruginosa cells decreased from 343.1 to314.2 μg/L in the treatment group. The activities of superoxide dismutase and peroxidase and the content of reduced glutathione in M. aeruginosa cells initially increased as a response to the oxidative stress posed by S. trifolia tuber aqueous extract, but then decreased as time prolonged. The lipid peroxidation damage of the cyanobacterial cell membranes was reflected by the malondialdehyde level, which was notably higher in the treatment group compared with the controls. | 10 | Neutrophil-derived heparin binding protein triggers vascular leakage and synergizes with myeloperoxidase at the early stage of severe burns(With video)显示文摘Background:Burn shock caused by vascular leakage is one of the main causes of high mortality in severe burn injury.However,the pathophysiological mechanism of vascular leakage is still unclear.The purpose of this study was to explore the molecular mechanism of vascular leakage in the early stage of severe burn and provide a new target for the treatment of severe burns.Methods:Neutrophils were isolated from human peripheral blood by magnetic beads sorting.ELISA was used to detect neutrophil-derived granule proteins and glycocalyx injury products in plasma.The vascular leakage and neutrophil movement were assessed by in vivo laser confocal imaging in mice,and high-quality video were provided.Adhesion-related molecules were investigated by qRT-PCR.The damage to glycocalyx of mice vascular endothelial cellswas observed by transmission electron microscope and scanning electron microscope.Proteomic analysis,flow cytometry and immunofluorescence were used to further study the relationship between human peripheral blood neutrophil-derived hypochlorite(HOCl)and CD44 of human vascular endothelial cells.Results:In this study,we found that rapidly increasing activated neutrophils secrete heparin binding protein(HBP)andmyeloperoxidase(MPO)after severe burn injury.Increased HBP triggers vascular leakage with synergy of MPO,results in systemic edema and burn shock.Furthermore,we found that the MPO catalytic product HOCl but not MPO triggers CD44 extracellular domain shedding from vascular endothelial cells to damage the glycocalyx.Damage to the glycocalyx results in firm adhesion of neutrophils and increases vascular leakage.However,MPO inhibitors partially protect the glycocalyx of vascular endothelial cells.The combination of HBP and MPO inhibitors markedly reduces vascular leakage and systemic edema in the early stage of severe burns.Conclusions:Taken together,these data reveal that neutrophil-derived HBP and MPO play an important synergies role in triggering vascular leakage at the early stage of severe burns.Targeted intervention in these two biomolecules may introduce new strategies for helping to reduce large amount of fluid loss and subsequent burn shock. | Lu Liu Yiming Shao Yixuan Zhang Yunxi Yang Jiamin Huang Linbin Li Ran Sun Yuying Zhou Yicheng Su Bingwei Sun | 2021 | Burns & Trauma2021,9,1: | 3 |

| 14 | THz spectra of five borates crystals显示文摘Terahertz spectral responses have been studied for five borate crystals Na5[B2P3O13] (NBP), Zn3BPO (ZBP), SrB4O7 (SBO), Na3La9O3(BO 3)8 (NLBO) and PbB4O7 (PBO). It is found that the samples had good transmission in 0.25―1.5 THz region. Both SBO and NLBO have an absorption coefficient less than 10 cm1. Among them, SBO has not only the smallest absorption coefficient but also a very flat dispersion in the frequency region under investigation. Distinct resonance absorption peaks are observed for ZBP at ν1 = 1.4 THz, ν2 = 2.0 THz and SBO at ν = 2.4 THz. In the spectrum of PBO, two abnormal dispersions appear in the frequency regions 1.44―1.74 and 2.2―2.5 THz. The absorption coefficients and refraction indices of the five crystals are extracted from the THz time-domain (THz-TDS) spectra in 0.25―2.5 THz region. | 17 | Overexpression of phosphatidylserine synthase IbPSS1 affords cellular Na+homeostasis and salt tolerance by activating plasma membrane Na^(+)/H^(+)antiport activity in sweet potato roots显示文摘Phosphatidylserine synthase(PSS)-mediated phosphatidylserine(PS)synthesis is crucial for plant development.However,little is known about the contribution of PSS to Na^(+)homeostasis regulation and salt tolerance in plants.Here,we cloned the IbPSS1 gene,which encodes an ortholog of Arabidopsis AtPSS1,from sweet potato(Ipomoea batatas(L.)Lam.).The transient expression of IbPSS1 in Nicotiana benthamiana leaves increased PS abundance.We then established an efficient Agrobacterium rhizogenes-mediated in vivo root transgenic system for sweet potato.Overexpression of IbPSS1 through this system markedly decreased cellular Na^(+)accumulation in salinized transgenic roots(TRs)compared with adventitious roots.The overexpression of IbPSS1 enhanced salt-induced Na^(+)/H^(+)antiport activity and increased plasma membrane(PM)Ca^(2+)-permeable channel sensitivity to NaCl and H2O2 in the TRs.We confirmed the important role of IbPSS1 in improving salt tolerance in transgenic sweet potato lines obtained from an Agrobacterium tumefaciens-mediated transformation system.Similarly,compared with the wild-type(WT)plants,the transgenic lines presented decreased Na^(+)accumulation,enhanced Na^(+)exclusion,and increased PM Ca^(2+)-permeable channel sensitivity to NaCl and H2O2 in the roots.Exogenous application of lysophosphatidylserine triggered similar shifts in Na^(+)accumulation and Na^(+)and Ca^(2+)fluxes in the salinized roots of WT.Overall,this study provides an efficient and reliable transgenic method for functional genomic studies of sweet potato.Our results revealed that IbPSS1 contributes to the salt tolerance of sweet potato by enabling Na^(+)homeostasis and Na^(+)exclusion in the roots,and the latter process is possibly controlled by PS reinforcing Ca^(2+)signaling in the roots. | Yicheng Yu Ying Xuan Xiaofeng Bian Lei Zhang Zhiyuan Pan Meng Kou Qinghe Cao Zhonghou Tang Qiang Li Daifu Ma Zongyun Li Jian Sun | 2020 | Horticulture Research2020,7,1: | 2 |

| 19 | Distributed Consensus for Blockchains in Internet-of-Things Networks显示文摘In recent years,due to the wide implementation of mobile agents,the Internet-of-Things(IoT) networks have been applied in several real-life scenarios,servicing applications in the areas of public safety,proximity-based services,and fog computing.Meanwhile,when more complex tasks are processed in IoT networks,demands on identity authentication,certifiable traceability,and privacy protection for services in IoT networks increase.Building a blockchain system in IoT networks can greatly satisfy such demands.However,the blockchain building in IoT brings about new challenges compared with that in the traditional full-blown Internet with reliable transmissions,especially in terms of achieving consensus on each block in complex wireless environments,which directly motivates our work.In this study,we fully considered the challenges of achieving a consensus in a blockchain system in IoT networks,including the negative impacts caused by contention and interference in wireless channel,and the lack of reliable transmissions and prior network organizations.By proposing a distributed consensus algorithm for blockchains on multi-hop IoT networks,we showed that it is possible to directly reach a consensus for blockchains in IoT networks,without relying on any additional network layers or protocols to provide reliable and ordered communications.In our theoretical analysis,we showed that our consensus algorithm is asymptotically optimal on time complexity and is energy saving.The extensive simulation results also validate our conclusions in the theoretical analysis. | Li Yang Yifei Zou Minghui Xu Yicheng Xu Dongxiao Yu Xiuzhen Cheng | 2022 | Tsinghua Science and Technology2022,27,5: | 2 |
