Study of action mechanisms and properties of Cr^(3+) cross-linked polymer solution with high salinity显示文摘Performance characteristics of partially hydrolyzed polyacrylamide (HPAM) and cross-linked polymer (CLP, Cr 3+ as the cross linker) solutions have been investigated. A Brookfield viscometer, rheometer, dynamic light scattering system, and core flow device have been used to measure the viscosity, viscoelasticity, polymer coil dimensions, molecular configuration, flow characteristics, and profile modification. The results show that, under conditions of high salinity and low HPAM and Cr 3+ concentrations, cross-linking mainly occurred between different chains of the same HPAM molecule in the presence of Cr 3+ , and a cross-linked polymer (CLP) system with a local network structure was formed. Compared with an HPAM solution of the same concentration, the apparent viscosity of the CLP solution increased slightly or remained almost unchanged, but its viscoelasticity (namely storage modulus, loss modulus, and first normal stress difference) increased, and the resistance coefficient and residual resistance coefficient increased significantly. This indicates that the CLP solution exhibits a strong capability to divert the sequentially injected polymer flood from high-permeability zones to low-permeability zones in a reservoir. Under the same HPAM concentration conditions, the dimensions of polymer coils in the CLP solution increased slightly compared with the dimensions of polymer coils in HPAM solution, which were smaller than the rock pores, indicating that the cross-linked polymer solution was well adapted to reservoir rocks. Core flood experiments show that at the same cost of reagent, the oil recovery by CLP injection (HPAM-1, Cr 3+ as the cross linker) is 3.1% to 5.2% higher than that by HPAM- 2 injection. | Lu Xiangguo Liu Jinxiang Wang Rongjian Liu Yigang Zhang Song | 2012 | Petroleum Science2012,9,1: | 8
Identification of Histoplasma causing an unexplained disease cluster in Matthews Ridge, Guyana显示文摘Here,we report the identification of Histoplasma causing an unexplained disease cluster in Matthews Ridge,Guyana. In March 2019,14 employees of Chongqing Bosai Mining Company,China, working in a manganese mining of Guyana, had unexplained fever, and two of them died.We obtained lung and brain tissues as well as the blood samples from the two deceased cases(patient No.1 and 2),and bronchoscopy lavages and cerebrospinal fluid samples from one severe case(patient No.3),respectively.All samples were tested by pathological examination,high-throughput sequencing, and real-time PCR.Pathological detection showed the presence of spore-like structures in the lung tissue of patient No.1,indicating a fungal infection in this patient.Nanopore sequencing identified the existing of H.capsulatum in the lung tissue sample within 13 h.Next-generation sequencing identified specific fragments of H.capsulatum in all of the samples tested(lung, brain and blood serum from the deceased cases, and plasma from the severe case).Real-time PCR assays did not reveal any viral infection related to transmission from bat feces. We conclude that H.capsulatum was the causative pathogen of this disease cluster based on epidemiologic, clinical, pathological and nucleic acid evidence. | Ji Wang Weimin Zhou Hua Ling Xiaoping Dong Yi Zhang Jiandong Li Yong Zhang Jingdong Song William J.Liu Yang Li Ruiqing Zhang Wei Zhen Kun Cai Shuangli Zhu Dongyan Wang Jinbo Xiao Yigang Tong Wenli Liu Lihua Song Wei Wu Yang Liu Xiang Zhao Ruihuan Wang Sheng Ye Jing Wang Roujian Lu Baoying Huang Fei Ye Wenwen Lei Rongbao Gao Qi Shi Cao Chen Jun Han Wenbo Xu George F.Gao Xuejun Ma Guizhen Wu | 2019 | Biosafety and Health2019,1,3: | 3
Spatio-temporal Variation of Soil Respiration and Its Driving Factors in Semi-arid Regions of North China显示文摘Soil respiration(SR) is the second-largest flux in ecosystem carbon cycling. Due to the large spatio-temporal variability of environmental factors, SR varied among different vegetation types, thereby impeding accurate estimation of CO_2 emissions via SR. However, studies on spatio-temporal variation of SR are still scarce for semi-arid regions of North China. In this study, we conducted 12-month SR measurements in six land-use types, including two secondary forests(Populus tomentosa(PT) and Robinia pseudoacacia(RP)), three artificial plantations(Armeniaca sibirica(AS), Punica granatum(PG) and Ziziphus jujuba(ZJ)) and one natural grassland(GR), to quantify spatio-temporal variation of SR and distinguish its controlling factors. Results indicated that SR exhibited distinct seasonal patterns for the six sites. Soil respiration peaked in August 2012 and bottomed in April 2013. The temporal coefficient of variation(CV) of SR for the six sites ranged from 76.98% to 94.08%, while the spatial CV of SR ranged from 20.28% to 72.97% across the 12-month measurement. Soil temperature and soil moisture were the major controlling factors of temporal variation of SR in the six sites, while spatial variation in SR was mainly caused by the differences in soil total nitrogen(STN), soil organic carbon(SOC), net photosynthesis rate, and fine root biomass. Our results show that the annual average SR and Q_(10)(temperature sensitivity of soil respiration) values tended to decrease from secondary forests and grassland to plantations, indicating that the conversion of natural ecosystems to man-made ecosystems may reduce CO_2 emissions and SR temperature sensitivity. Due to the high spatio-temporal variation of SR in our study area, care should be taken when converting secondary forests and grassland to plantations from the point view of accurately quantifying CO_2 emissions via SR at regional scales. | ZENG Xinhua SONG Yigang ZHANG Wanjun HE Shengbing | 2018 | Chinese Geographical Science2018,28,1: | 3
COVID-19 vaccine development:milestones, lessons and prospects显示文摘With the constantly mutating of SARS-CoV-2 and the emergence of Variants of Concern(VOC),the implementation of vaccination is critically important.Existing SARS-CoV-2 vaccines mainly include inactivated, live attenuated, viral vector, protein subunit,RNA,DNA,and virus-like particle(VLP)vaccines.Viral vector vaccines, protein subunit vaccines, and mRNA vaccines may induce additional cellular or humoral immune regulations, including Th cell responses and germinal center responses, and form relevant memory cells, greatly improving their efficiency. However, some viral vector or mRNA vaccines may be associated with complications like thrombocytopenia and myocarditis, raising concerns about the safety of these COVID-19 vaccines. Here,we systemically assess the safety and efficacy of COVID-19 vaccines, including the possible complications and different effects on pregnant women, the elderly, people with immune diseases and acquired immunodeficiency syndrome(AIDS),transplant recipients, and cancer patients.Based on the current analysis, governments and relevant agencies are recommended to continue to advance the vaccine immunization process.Simultaneously, special attention should be paid to the health status of the vaccines, timely treatment of complications, vaccine development, and ensuring the lives and health of patients. In addition, available measures such as mix-and-match vaccination, developing new vaccines like nanoparticle vaccines, and optimizing immune adjuvant to improve vaccine safety and efficacy could be considered. | Maochen Li Han Wang Lili Tian Zehan Pang Qingkun Yang Tianqi Huang Junfen Fan Lihua Song Yigang Tong Huahao Fan | 2022 | Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2022,7,6: | 2
Effects of melt percolation on the Re-Os systematics of continental mantle lithosphere: A case study of spinel peridotite xenoliths from Heilongjiang, NE China显示文摘Os isotope ratios of mantle peridotites have been considered to be largely immune to recent melt-rock interaction. However, Os isotope ratios and PGE (Platinum group elements) concentrations of the Yong'an xenoliths have been significantly modified by melt percolation, and are not suitable for determining the formation age of lithosphere mantle in Yong'an. In this study, the Yong'an spinel peridotite xenoliths are divided into two groups: N-Type and E-Type. The N-Type group including cpx (clinopyroxene)-poor lherzolite and harzburgite, shows a large variation of Cr#(sp) (13.2-48) and sulfur contents (from 171 ppm to below detection limit), whereas the E-Type peridotites are mainly refractory harzburgites and are characterized by high Cr#(sp) (35.3-42.2) and overall low sulfur contents (below 51 ppm). Both types show similar major and REE (rare earth element) patterns. Furthermore, the N-Type peridotites display a restricted range of iridium-group PGE (IPGE), Os/Ir and Ru/Ir ratios (Os/Ir = 0.64-1.12, Ru/Ir = 1.52-1.79) and variable palladium-group PGE (PPGE) contents (3.4-14.9 ppb), whereas the E-Type peridotites show a large variation of Os/Ir and Ru/Ir ratios (Os/Ir = 0.33-0.84, Ru/Ir = 0.94-1.6), and a restricted range of PPGE (4.3-6.9 ppb). 187Os/188Os ratios of E-Type peridotites are higher than those of N-Type peridotites at comparable fertility levels. These results suggest that N-Type peridotites may have been overprinted by metasomatism via small melt fractions, in which the percolation of the volatile-rich, small melt fractions only resulted in LILE (large ion lithophile element) enrichment of clinopyroxene, and their whole rock PGE contents and Re-Os isotope values were little changed. Moreover, E-Type peridotites may have been modified by melt-rock reaction involving relatively large melt fractions, which may result in the formation of secondary cpx and olivine and the removal of IPGE-bearing minerals such as Ru-Os-(Ir) alloys or laurite, followed by precipitation of secondary sulfides from melt with radiogenic isotopic signature. | YU SongYue SONG XieYan XU YiGang CHEN LieMeng LI Jie | 2012 | Science China Earth Sciences2012,55,6: | 1
Biodiversity arks in the Anthropocene显示文摘The Anthropocene proposal suggested that the Earth may have entered a new geological epoch,in which human activity and climate change are influencing the environment at global scale.Arrival of the Anthropocene is bringing an unprecedented challenge to the biodiversity that is essential to humans, and enhancing many benefits of nature to human being. However, biodiversity loss is aggravating in the rhythm of inevitable change in the Anthropocene, and the adaptation of biodiversity to the anthropogenic disturbance seems unable to keep pace with the human activity and climate change.Therefore,re-examination of the assumptions and practices upon the current conservation endeavor are needed. We suggested that biodiversity conservation should be paid more attention to the response from biodiversity to the human activity and climate change in the Anthropocene. Thus, the concept of biodiversity arks in the Anthropocene is proposed, that is,biodiversity arks in the Anthropocene are the areas where vulnerable biodiversity is sheltered to alleviate human activity and buffered from climate change under the anthropogenic disturbance. The concept should be implemented for biodiversity conservation to fill gaps between our knowledge and build on successful conservation and sustainability in the Anthropocene. It will be certainly important to conservation policy instruction and management under climate change, especially the implementation of climate buffering zones preserving biodiversity in the face of warming climate. | Honghu Meng Xiaoyang Gao Yigang Song Guanlong Cao Jie Li | 2021 | Regional Sustainability2021,2,2: | 1

In Vitro Evaluation of Effects of Mg-6Zn Alloy Extracts on Apoptosis of Intestinal Epithelial Cells显示文摘We assessed the in vitro cytotoxicity of Mg-6Zn alloy and analyzed the cell apoptosis rate and the expression of caspase-3 to evaluate the effects of Mg-6Zn alloy extracts on apoptosis of intestinal epithelial cells(IEC)-6. IEC-6 cells were cultured in different concentrations of Mg-6Zn alloy extracts(40%, 20%) and in the control group. The indirect effects of Mg-6Zn alloy on IEC-6 cells were studied by calculating the cell relative growth rate(RGR), measuring the apoptosis of IEC-6 cells through flow cytometry, and investigating the expression of caspase-3 using real-time polymerase chain reaction. The experimental results show that the cytotoxicity of these extracts is Grade 0-1. The level of apoptosis in IEC-6 cells cultured in 40% Mg-6Zn alloy extracts is significantly higher than that in cells treated with 20% extract and the control group. The expression of caspase-3 is found to be up-regulated in the 40% extract as compared to 20% extract and the control group. Taken together, the data show that the Mg-6Zn alloy in 40% and 20% concentration extracts proves noncytotoxicity. But the 40% concentration of Mg-6Zn alloy extract can induce the apoptosis and the related caspase-3 expression in vitro. | 王啸虎 CHEN Yigang YU Song WANG Zhigang ZHANG Xiaonong ZHAO Changli ZHANG Shaoxiang 阎钧 谷宝军 | 2016 | Journal of Wuhan University of Technology(Materials Science)2016,31,6: | 0
Back to Science in Searching for SARS-CoV-2 Origins显示文摘In recent decades, emerging and re-emerging human-infecting pathogens have been represented as huge threats to public health and have become a global concern(1).After outbreaks of two coronaviruses(CoVs),severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus(SARS-CoV)and Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus(MERS-CoV),severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)became the first-known pandemic hastening CoV with tremendous wrecking to the world(2).The origin tracing of these emerging pathogens is of great significance in infectious disease prevention and control(3–4).The origin of SARS-CoV-2 remains elusive after the more than 3-year pandemic, though scientists around the world are making great efforts. From the experience of studying many other infectious pathogens, origin tracing is systematic and time-consuming work. The supposed origins of many infectious pathogens are still in debate, including SARS-CoV and human immunodeficiency virus,etc(5). | William J Liu Wenwen Lei Xiaozhou He Peipei Liu Qihui Wang Zhiqiang Wu Yun Tan Shuhui Song Gary Wong Jian Lu Jingkun Jiang Qiang Wei Mingkun Li Juncai Ma Xiaozhong Peng Yixue Li Baoxu Huang Yigang Tong Jun Han Guizhen Wu | 2023 | China CDC weekly2023,5,14: | 0

Synthetic optical vortex beams from the analogous trajectory change of an artificial satellite显示文摘We propose a method to generate specially shaped high-order singular beams of pre-designed intensity distributions. Such a method does not a priori assume a phase formula, but rather relies on the 'cake-cutting and assembly' approach to achieve the azimuthal phase gradient for beam shaping, inspired by the orbital motion trajectory change of an artificial satellite. Based on our method, several typical vortex beams with desired intensity patterns are experimentally generated. As an example, we realize optical trapping and transportation of microorganisms with a triangle-shaped vortex beam, demonstrating the applicability of such unconventional vortex beams in optical trapping and manipulation. | HAIPING WANG LIQIN TANG JINA MA XIUYAN ZHENG DAOHONG SONG YI HU YIGANG LI ZHIGANG CHEN | 2019 | Photonics Research2019,7,9: | 0
