Pre-course student performance prediction with multi-instance multi-label learning显示文摘Dear editor,Studying courses is one of the most basic and important tasks for college students. For each new course, the initial period of learning is crucial for students, and seriously influences subsequent learning activities. However, given a large number of classes in universities,it has become impossible for teachers to keep track of the individual performance of each student. In these circumstances,it is desirable to predict each student’s performance on a certain course prior to its commencement. | Yuling MA Chaoran CUI Xiushan NIE Gongping YANG Kashif SHAHEED Yilong YIN | 2019 | Science China(Information Sciences)2019,62,2: | 5
Role of cortical spreading depression in the pathophysiology of migraine显示文摘A migraine is a recurring neurological disorder characterized by unilateral, intense, and pulsatile headaches. In one-third of migraine patients, the attacks are preceded by a visual aura, such as a slowly-propagating scintillating scotoma.Migraine aura is thought to be a result of the neurovascular phenomenon of cortical spreading depression(SD),a self-propagating wave of depolarization that spreads across the cerebral cortex.Several animal experiments have demonstrated that cortical SD causes intracranial neurogenic inflammation around the meningeal blood vessels, such as plasma protein extravasation and pro-inflammatory peptide release.Cortical SD has also been reported to activate both peripheral and central trigeminal nociceptive pathways.Although several issues remain to be resolved, recent evidence suggests that cortical SD could be the initial trigger of intracranial neurogenic inflammation, which then contributes to migraine headaches via subsequent activation of trigeminal afferents. | Yilong Cui Yosky Kataoka Yasuyoshi Watanabe | 2014 | Neuroscience Bulletin2014,30,5: | 4
Multi-task MIML learning for pre-course student performance prediction显示文摘In higher education, the initial studying period of each course plays a crucial role for students, and seriously influences the subsequent learning activities. However, given the large size of a course’s students at universities,it has become impossible for teachers to keep track of the performance of individual students. In this circumstance,an academic early warning system is desirable, which automatically detects students with difficulties in learning(i.e.,at-risk students)prior to a course starting. However, previous studies are not well suited to this purpose for two reasons:1)they have mainly concentrated on e-learning platforms,e.g.,massive open online courses(MOOCs),and relied on the data about students’online activities, which is hardly accessed in traditional teaching scenarios;and 2)they have only made performance prediction when a course is in progress or even close to the end.In this paper, for traditional classroom-teaching scenarios,we investigate the task of pre-course student performance prediction, which refers to detecting at-risk students for each course before its commencement. To better represent a student sample and utilize the correlations among courses,we cast the problem as a multi-instance multi-label(MIML)problem.Besides,given the problem of data scarcity,we propose a novel multi-task learning method,i.e.,MIML-Circle,to predict the performance of students from different specialties in a unified framework.Extensive experiments are conducted on five real-world datasets, and the results demonstrate the superiority of our approach over the state-of-the-art methods. | Yuling Ma Chaoran Cui Jun Yu Jie Guo Gongping Yang Yilong Yin | 2020 | Frontiers of Computer Science2020,14,5: | 1
An experimental investigation on decoupling performance for a lateral axis micromachined gyroscope with varying environmental parameters显示文摘This paper carries out an experiment study of decoupling performance for a novel lateral axis micromachined gyroscope with varying environmental parameters. The non-ideal mathematical model for the coupling mechanism of the gyroscope is established through the gyro dynamic response matrix. The coupling components varying with ambient pressure and temperature induced by stiffness coupling, damping coupling and electrostatic force coupling are semi-analytically discussed. The overall coupling ratio is evaluated via experiments in the custom-built installation. The testing results show that the decoupling performance of the gyroscope is sensitive to the environmental parameters and all the non-ideal errors are determined as a function of ambient pressure and temperature. The coupling error varies from 0.05% to 0.25% within the pressure range of 100 Pa-100 kPa. The characteristics of coupling with temperature are measured from 20°C to 100°C with a variation from 0.35% to 0.41%. The results also indicate that within the range of measured ambient pressure and temperature, the minimum coupling ratio occurs at 100 Pa and room temperature. The overall performance of the gyroscope is tested under the pressure of about 2000 Pa and room temperature to achieve a relatively low coupling ratio. The scale factor is measured to be 7.8 mV(°) -1 s-1 with nonlinearity about 0.45% in the full-scale range of 600(°) s-1. The short-term bias stability is approximately 0.06(°) s-1(1σ) for 20 min with noise equivalent angular rate evaluated to be 0.077(°) s-1 Hz-1/2. | CUI Jian LIU XueSong GUO ZhongYang ZHAO QianCheng LIN LongTao YANG ZhenChuan HAO YiLong YAN GuiZhen | 2011 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2011,54,12: | 1
Somatic mutation contributing to clonal haematopoiesis is a risk factor of recurrent stroke in first-ever acute ischaemic stroke:a prospective cohort study显示文摘Background Somatic mutation contributes to clonal haematopoiesis of indeterminate potential(CHIP)is related to age and associated with a higher risk of stroke and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. Here,we investigated the prognostic significance of CHIP in a large first-ever acute ischaemic stroke(AIS)cohort and explored the underlying mechanisms. Methods We studied a prospective cohort of 6016 patients who had a first-ever AIS in China.Whole-genome sequencing was performed to identify CHIP.High-sensitivity C reactive protein(hs-CRP)levels above 3 mg/L at baseline were defined as hyperinflammation.Recurrent stroke during the 3-month follow-up was the primary outcome. Results Among the 6016 patients who had a first-ever AIS,with a median age was 62 years(IQR,54.0‒70.0),3.70%were identified as CHIP carriers. The most common mutations occurred in the DNMT3A(30.0%)and TET2(11.4%)genes.During a follow-up of 3 months, the presence of CHIP was associated with recurrent stroke(HR 1.62,95%CI 1.04 to 2.51,p=0.03),recurrent ischaemic stroke(HR 1.64,95%CI 1.04 to 2.58,p=0.03)and combined vascular events(HR 1.58,95%CI 1.02 to 2.44,p=0.04)after adjusting for hsCRP levels at baseline in patients who had a first-ever AIS.Subgroup analysis demonstrated that CHIP was only associated with recurrent stroke when patients under hyperinflammation(OR 3.10,95%CI 1.92 to 5.00,p<0.001)but not in those without hyperinflammation(OR 0.18,95%CI 0.03 to 1.04,p=0.06,Pinteraction=0.002).Conclusion Our results suggest that somatic mutations contributing to CHIP increase the risk of short-term recurrent stroke in patients who had a first-ever AIS.Hyperinflammation may be important in the relationship between CHIP and recurrent stroke. | Xin Qiu Yalun Dai Si Cheng Hong-Qiu Gu Yong Jiang Xia Meng Yilong Wang Xingquan Zhao Yingyu Jiang Zhe Xu Xinying Huang Meng Wang Tian Jie Lyu Yubo Wang Jiaxu Weng Lingyun Cui Yi Shangguan Hao Li Yongjun Wang Zixiao Li | 2023 | Stroke & Vascular Neurology2023,8,2: | 1

Ultrathin origami accordion-like structure of vacancy-rich graphitized carbon nitride for enhancing CO_(2) photoreduction显示文摘Retaining the ultrathin structure of two-dimensional materials is very important for stabilizing their catalytic performances. However, aggregation and restacking are unavoidable,to some extent, due to the van der Waals interlayer interaction of two-dimensional materials. Here,we address this challenge by preparing an origami accordion structure of ultrathin twodimensional graphitized carbon nitride(oa-C_(3)N_(4))with rich vacancies. This novel structured oa-C_(3)N_(4) shows exceptional photocatalytic activity for the CO_(2) reduction reaction, which is 8.1 times that of the pristine C_(3)N_(4).The unique structure not only prevents restacking but also increases light harvesting and the density of vacancy defects, which leads to modification of the electronic structure, regulation of the CO_(2) adsorption energy, and a decrease in the energy barrier of the carbon dioxide to carboxylic acid intermediate reaction. This study provides a new avenue for the development of stable highperformance two-dimensional catalytic materials. | Guangri Jia Zhongxu Wang Ming Gong Ying Wang Lu Hua Li Yilong Dong Lulu Liu Lei Zhang Jingxiang Zhao Weitao Zheng Xiaoqiang Cui | 2023 | Carbon Energy2023,5,4: | 0
Near-real-time global gridded daily CO_(2) emissions显示文摘Precise and high-resolution carbon dioxide(CO_(2))emission data is of great importance in achieving carbon neutrality around the world. Here we present for the first time the near-real-time Global Gridded Daily CO_(2)Emissions Dataset(GRACED)from fossil fuel and cement production with a global spatial resolution of 0.1°by 0.1°and a temporal resolution of 1 day.Gridded fossil emissions are computed for different sectors based on the daily national CO_(2)emissions from near-real-time dataset(Carbon Monitor),the spatial patterns of point source emission dataset Global Energy Infrastructure Emissions Database(GID),Emission Database for Global Atmospheric Research(EDGAR),and spatiotemporal patters of satellite nitrogen dioxide(NO2)retrievals.Our study on the global CO_(2)emissions responds to the growing and urgent need for high-quality,fine-grained,near-real-time CO_(2)emissions estimates to support global emissions monitoring across various spatial scales.Weshow the spatial patterns of emission changes for power, industry, residential consumption, ground transportation, domestic and international aviation, and international shipping sectors from January 1,2019,to December 31,2020.This gives thorough insights into the relative contributions from each sector.Furthermore,it provides the most up-to-date and fine-grained overview of where and when fossil CO_(2)emissions have decreased and rebounded in response to emergencies(e.g.,coronavirus disease 2019[COVID-19])and other disturbances of human activities of any previously published dataset. As the world recovers from the pandemic and decarbonizes its energy systems, regular updates of this dataset will enable policymakers to more closely monitor the effectiveness of climate and energy policies and quickly adapt. | Xinyu Dou Yilong Wang Philippe Ciais Frédéric Chevallier Steven J.Davis Monica Crippa Greet Janssens-Maenhout Diego Guizzardi Efisio Solazzo Feifan Yan Da Huo Bo Zheng Biqing Zhu Duo Cui Piyu Ke Taochun Sun Hengqi Wang Qiang Zhang Pierre Gentine Zhu Deng Zhu Liu | 2022 | The Innovation2022,3,1: | 0
Supplementation of nicotinamide mononucleotide improves the quality of postovulatory aged porcine oocytes显示文摘Dear Editor,Postovulatory aging would occur to impair the oocyte quality in a timedependent manner if ovulated oocytes are not fertilized within the optimal timing in the oviduct or in the dishes(Trapphoff et al.,2016),which might result in the early pregnancy failure in vivo and adverse outcome of assisted reproductive technology(ART)in vitro(Nagy et al.,1993;Wilcox et al.,1998).However,the effective approaches to preventing the postovulatory aging-induced oocyte deterioration are still underexplored. We recently reported that supplementation of nicotinamide mononucleotide(NMN),a synthetic precursor of NAD+,which is an essential cofactorfor enzymes'functioning in almost all critical cellularmetabolic reactions(Imai and Guarente,2014;Canto et al.,2015),reverses the declining quality of maternally aged mouse oocytes(Miao et al.,2020). | Yilong Miao Zhaokang Cui Xiaotong Zhu Qian Gao Bo xiong | 2022 | Journal of Molecular Cell Biology2022,14,4: | 0
Bone morphogenetic protein 4 induces cholinergic differentiation of brain-derived neural stem cells in vivo and in vitro显示文摘In vitro studies have demonstrated that many factors of bone morphogenetic proteins (BMPs) induce cholinergic differentiation of neural stem cells. However, BMP retains the potential to induce increased numbers of cholinergic neurons in central nervous system regions that are rich in cholinergic cells, which is an important determinant of BMP. Therefore, BMP-4 was added to neural stem cell culture medium or the adult rat hippocampal dentate gyrus. Results demonstrated that BMP-4 induced cholinergic differentiation of neural stem cells in vitro and increased the number of cholinergic neurons in the adult rat hippocampal dentate gyrus. | Yan Chang Jingkun Pan Lei Tian Shuilong Guo Yun Luo Xin Cui Yilong Xue | 2010 | Neural Regeneration Research2010,5,21: | 0
Casein kinase 2 modulates the spindle assembly checkpoint to orchestrate porcine oocyte meiotic progression显示文摘Background:CK2(casein kinase 2)is a serine/threonine-selective protein kinase that has been involved in a variety of cellular processes such as DNA repair, cell cycle control and circadian rhythm regulation. However, its functional roles in oocyte meiosis have not been fully determined. Results:We report that CK2 is essential for porcine oocyte meiotic maturation by regulating spindle assembly checkpoint(SAC).Immunostaining and immunoblotting analysis showed that CK2 was constantly expressed and located on the chromosomes during the entire oocyte meiotic maturation.Inhibition of CK2 activity by its selective inhibitor CX-4945 impaired the first polar body extrusion and arrested oocytes at M I stage, accompanied by the presence of BubR1 at kinetochores, indicative of activated SAC.In addition,we found that spindle/chromosome structure was disrupted in CK2-inhibited oocytes due to the weakened microtubule stability, which is a major cause resulting in the activation of SAC.Last,we found that the level DNA damage as assessed byγH2A.X staining was considerably elevated when CK2 was inhibited, suggesting that DNA damage might be another critical factor leading to the SAC activation and meiotic failure of oocytes. Conclusions:Our findings demonstrate that CK2 promotes the porcine oocyte maturation by ensuring normal spindle assembly and DNA damage repair. | Xiayan ShiYang Yilong Miao Zhaokang Cui Yajuan Lu Changyin Zhou Yu Zhang Bo Xiong | 2020 | Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2020,11,3: | 0
Kinetics of Catalyzed Thermal Degradation of Polylactide and Its Application as Sacrificial Templates显示文摘Polylactide(PLA)is an outstanding sacrificial template material for the manufacture of microchannels in a thermosetting matrix. However, the initial thermal degradation temperature of pure PLA is relatively high(about 280℃),which limits its use as a sacrificial template. In this report,we found that TBD,an organic base catalyst, can significantly reduce the thermal degradation temperature of PLA.TBD has higher catalytic activity for the thermal degradation of PLA compared with Tin(II)oxalate(Sn(Oxa)),one catalyst reported in the literature. Moreover, the gaseous products catalyzed by TBD for PLA thermal degradation are mainly lactide, and the formation temperature of the monomer is lower and the yield is higher, which may have potential value for PLA recycling.A combined catalyst,S8T2,was composed of 80%low activity catalyst Sn(Oxa)and 20%high activity catalyst TBD,which can catalyze the rapid degradation of PLA without greatly damaging the mechanical properties of PLA.PLA-S8T2 sacrificial fibers can form high-precision one-dimensional microchannels in the epoxy resin matrix, and 3D-printed PLA-S8T2 sacrificial templates can be used to form three-dimensional microchannels in a thermosetting matrix by vaporization of sacrificial components process(VaSC).These features highlight the great potential of PLA-S8T2 as sacrificial template material for the preparation of the complicated microchannels in the thermosetting matrix. | Li Feng Chenhui Cui Zhen Li Mengyuan Zhang Shenghui Gao Qiang Zhang Youshen Wu Zhishen Ge Yilong Cheng Yanfeng Zhang | 2022 | Chinese Journal of Chemistry2022,40,23: | 0
Outer delocalized electron aggregation of bromide bridged core–shell CuBr@C for hydrogen evolution reaction显示文摘Modulation of the surface electron distribution is a challenging problem that determines the adsorption ability of catalytic process. Here,we address this challenge by bridging the inner and outer layers of the core–shell structure through the bridge Br atom.Carbon shell wrapped copper bromide nanorods(CuBr@C)are constructed for the first time by chemical vapour deposition with hexabromobenzene(HBB).HBB pyrolysis provides both bridge Br atom and C shells. The C shell protects the stability of the internal halide structure, while the bridge Br atom triggers the rearrangement of the surface electrons and exhibits excellent electrocatalytic activity.Impressively, the hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)activity of CuBr@C is significantly better than that of commercial N-doped carbon nanotubes, surpassing commercial Pt/C at over 200 mA·cm^(−2).Density functional theory(DFT)calculations reveal that bridge Br atoms inspire aggregation of delocalized electrons on C-shell surfaces, leading to optimization of hydrogen adsorption energy. | Tianyi Xu Ruoyu Li Lei Zhang Dongxu Jiao Yilong Dong Ming Gong Dantong Zhang Jinchang Fan Dewen Wang Yanhua Liu Xiao Zhao Wei Zhang Weitao Zheng Xiaoqiang Cui | 2023 | Nano Research2023,16,5: | 0
Atomic Dispersed Hetero‑Pairs for Enhanced Electrocatalytic CO_(2)Reduction显示文摘Electrochemical carbon dioxide reduction reaction(CO_(2)RR)involves a variety of intermediates with highly correlated reaction and ad-desorption energies, hindering optimization of the catalytic activity. For example, increasing the binding of the*COOH to the active site will generally increase the*CO desorption energy.Breaking this relationship may be expected to dramatically improve the intrinsic activity of CO_(2)RR,but remains an unsolved challenge.Herein,we addressed this conundrum by constructing a unique atomic dispersed hetero-pair consisting of Mo-Fe di-atoms anchored on N-doped carbon carrier. This system shows an unprecedented CO_(2)RR intrinsic activity with TOF of 3336 h−1,high selectivity toward CO production,Faradaic efficiency of 95.96%at−0.60 V and excellent stability.Theoretical calculations show that the Mo-Fe diatomic sites increased the*COOH intermediate adsorption energy by bridging adsorption of*COOH intermediates. At the same time,d-d orbital coupling in the Mo-Fe di-atom results in electron delocalization and facilitates desorption of*CO intermediates. Thus, the undesirable correlation between these steps is broken. This work provides a promising approach, specifically the use of di-atoms,for breaking unfavorable relationships based on understanding of the catalytic mechanisms at the atomic scale. | Zhaoyong Jin Meiqi Yang Yilong Dong Xingcheng Ma Ying Wang Jiandong Wu Jinchang Fan Dewen Wang Rongshen Xi Xiao Zhao Tianyi Xu Jingxiang Zhao Lei Zhang David J.Singh Weitao Zheng Xiaoqiang Cui | 2024 | Nano-Micro Letters2024,16,1: | 0
