How do“gatekeepers”affect credit risk?显示文摘This study investigates the relationship between auditor tenure and credit default swap(CDS)spreads of U.S.firms based on quantile regression. After allowing for common determinants of CDS spreads, auditor tenure exerts both statistically and economically significant additional impacts on the CDS market.Furthermore, there are differential effects of common CDS spread determinants and auditor tenure. While common determinants of CDS spreads(e.g.,leverage,volatility,risk free rate, credit ratings, and earnings)have monotonically increasing impacts when CDS spreads(and their changes)are increasingly higher, auditor tenure primarily has the impact when CDS spreads are of low or median levels for less risky firms. | Xu Li Xingtong Zhang Yinggang Zhou | 2021 | Journal of Management Science and Engineering2021,6,3: | 1

Blood Sample Image Classification Algorithm Based on SVM and HOG显示文摘In the medical field, the classification and analysis of blood samples has always been arduous work.In the previous work of this task, manual classification maneuvers have been used, which are time consuming and laborious. The conventional blood image classification research is mainly focused on the microscopic cell image classification, while the macroscopic reagent processing blood coagulation image classification research is still blank. These blood samples processed with reagents often show some inherent shape characteristics, such as coagulation, attachment, discretization and so on.The shape characteristics of these blood samples also make it possible for us to recognize their classification through computer vision algorithms.Blood sample classification focuses on the texture and shape of the picture.HOG feature is a kind of feature descriptor used for object detection in computer vision and image processing. It can better extract the outline and texture features of the image by calculating and counting the histogram of oriented gradient of the local region of the image.Because the medical machines that need to identify and classify blood samples often lack strong calculation power, the current popular machine-learning classification algorithms cannot play a good role in these machines. In addition, the characteristics of blood samples produced by different types of reagents and processing methods are different, and it is difficult to obtain real samples,so the amount of data that can be used for training is small.Combining the above conditions and the experimental comparison of a variety of classification algorithms,we find that the lightweight SVMmodel has a better performance on this problem, and the combination of HOG and SVM has also been widely used in other research. The experiment demonstrated that the classification algorithm based on SVM and HOG can give a good result of both performance and accuracy in the classification of blood samples problem. | Tianyi Jiang Shuangshuang Ying Zhou Fang Xue Song Yinggang Sun Dongyang Zhan Chao Ma | 2022 | Journal of New Media2022,4,2: | 0
Measuring the importance of RMB in the exchange rate spill-over networks: new indices of RMB internationalisation显示文摘Using an innovative network approach, this study constructs new indices of the renminbi(RMB)internationalisation and presents strong evidence of the RMB’s growing influence globally and regionally. We identify networks of exchange rate spill-overs and examine time-varying spill-over intensities among the RMB and world major currencies of G20 members as well as currencies related to the Belt and Road Initiative(BRI).Shocks from the RMB generate intensifying spill-overs across currency networks. The role of the RMB in the networks has increased steadily over time. Our findings highlight that the RMB has become increasingly important since China has initiated the marketisation reform of its currency and proposed to build the modern Belt and Road. | Yinggang Zhou Xin Cheng Yiming Wang | 2020 | Economic and Political Studies2020,8,3: | 0
Identification of a three-gene signature in the triple-negative breast cancer显示文摘This work aimed to improve current prognostic signatures based on clinical stages in identifying high-risk patients of triple-negative breast cancer(TNBC),to allow patients with a high-risk score for specific treatment decisions. In this study,396 TNBC samples from TCGA and GEO databases were included in genome-wide transcriptome analysis. The relationship between normalized gene expression values and survival data of patients was determined by Cox proportional hazards models in each dataset. The overlapped genes among all datasets were considered as a potential prognostic signature. The risk score was constructed based on individual genes and validated with three separate data sets and the combined dataset. Moreover, the Kaplan–Meier analysis including the log-rank test was performed to determine significantly statistical differences in overall survival. The association analysis between DNA methylation levels and gene expression levels of three genes was measured in the TCGA data set.In Cox proportional hazards model analysis, the result showed that potential protective genes included 564 genes in GSE25066 dataset,1132 genes in GSE103091 dataset and 564 genes in TCGA dataset, potentially risky genes contained 1132 genes in GSE25066 dataset,475 genes in GSE25066 dataset and 1115 genes in TCGA dataset. In all datasets, patients in high-risk groups showed worse prognosis than low-risk groups.Multivariate Cox regression analysis displayed that the 3-gene signature(DCAF4,UQCRFS1 and SS18)was an independent prognostic factor in TNBC.The AUC values of the 3-gene signature were 0.71,0.73 and 0.77 in GSE25066,GSE103091 and TCGA dataset, respectively. The model, which combined the 3-gene signature(DCAF4,UQCRFS1 and SS18)with the tumor stage(pathological stage or pathological T stage),showed a stronger prognostic power for survival prediction. The 3-genes prognostic signature may be a useful biomarker for survival prediction in TNBC patients and may contribute to patient classification in the same tumor stages and individualized clinical treatment. | LIPING WANG ZHOU LUO MINMIN SUN QIUYUE YUAN YINGGANG ZOU DEYUAN FU | 2022 | BIOCELL2022,46,3: | 0
Urban Inclusiveness and Entrepreneurship:Evidence from Microdata on Migrants显示文摘With the progressive reforms of China’s household registration system,China has unleashed its demographic dividends over the time and promoted the economic growth.Guided by the new vision of development, urban inclusiveness, especially the urban inclusiveness to the migrant population, will become a force for driving economic growth.Using the 2016 China Migrants Dynamic Survey(CMDS)dataset,we measure urban inclusiveness with the level of migrants’access to same public services and social security as local residents and explore the effects of urban inclusiveness on migrants’entrepreneurship. The results show that urban inclusiveness encourages migrants to start businesses and has a positive effect on the level of entrepreneurship. The urban environmental conditions and heterogeneity of individual laborers have different regulating effects on the influence of urban inclusiveness on individual entrepreneurial choice. The findings offer important inspirations for policy making in reforming the Chinese urban systems and promoting migrants’entrepreneurship. | Yinggang Zhou Lina Meng Xueping Lin | 2020 | China Finance and Economic Review2020,9,2: | 0
