2Micro/nano-structured TiO2 surface with dual-functional antibacterial effects for biomedical applications显示文摘Implant-associated infections are generally difficult to cure owing to the bacterial antibiotic resistance which is attributed to the widespread usage of antibiotics.Given the global threat and increasing influence of antibiotic resistance,there is an urgent demand to explore novel antibacterial strategies other than using antibiotics.Recently,using a certain surface topography to provide a more persistent antibacterial solution attracts more and more attention.However,the clinical application of biomimetic nano-pillar array is not satisfactory,mainly because its antibacterial ability against Gram-positive strain is not good enough.Thus,the pillar array should be equipped with other antibacterial agents to fulfill the bacteriostatic and bactericidal requirements of clinical application.Here,we designed a novel model substrate which was a combination of periodic micro/nano-pillar array and TiO2 for basically understanding the topographical bacteriostatic effects of periodic micro/nano-pillar array and the photocatalytic bactericidal activity of TiO2.Such innovation may potentially exert the synergistic effects by integrating the persistent topographical antibacterial activity and the non-invasive X-ray induced photocatalytic antibacterial property of TiO2 to combat against antibiotic-resistant implant-associated infections.First,to separately verify the topographical antibacterial activity of TiO2 periodic micro/nano-pillar array,we systematically investigated its effects on bacterial adhesion,growth,proliferation,and viability in the dark without involving the photocatalysis of TiO2.The pillar array with sub-micron motif size can significantly inhibit the adhesion,growth,and proliferation of Staphylococcus aureus(S.aureus)and Escherichia coli(E.coli).Such antibacterial ability is mainly attributed to a spatial confinement size-effect and limited contact area availability generated by the special topography of pillar array.Moreover,the pillar array is not lethal to S.aureus and E.coli in 24 h.Then,the X-ray induced photocatalytic antibacterial property of TiO2 periodic micro/nano-pillar array in vitro and in vivo will be systematically studied in a future work.This study could shed light on the direction of surface topography design for future medical implants to combat against antibiotic-resistant implant-associated infections without using antibiotics.Xiang Ge Chengzu Ren Yonghui Ding Guang Chen Xiong Lu Kefeng Wang Fuzeng Ren Meng Yang Zhuochen Wang Junlan Li Xinxin An Bao Qian Yang Leng 2019Bioactive Materials2019,4,1:8
3Study on variational aerosol fields over Beijing and its adjoining areas derived from Terra-MODIS and ground sunphotometer observation显示文摘This paper presents a comprehensive observa-tion technique on derived aerosols data from mobile sun-photometer graph and Terra-Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) observation. Research results suggest that after being treated by the variational technique with respect to sunphotometer observations, the Terra- MODIS remote sensing aerosol data are remarkably im-proved, thus for the first time revealing features of the influ-ence of aerosols and pollution emissions of Beijing and its adjoining areas (Hebei, Shandong, etc. provinces). The re-gional impact features of aerosols are related with the pe-ripheral U-shape topography of Beijing. 6Eupalinolide B inhibits hepatic carcinoma by inducing ferroptosis and ROS-ER-JNK pathway显示文摘Primary hepatic carcinoma is a common malignant tumor.The classic molecular targeted drug sorafenib is costly and is only effective for some patients.Therefore,it is of great clinical significance to search for new molecular targeted drugs.Eupalinolide B(EB)from Eupatorium lindleyanum DC.is used to treat chronic tracheitis in clinical practice.However,the role of EB in hepatic carcinoma is unknown.In this study,we first measure the effect of EB on tumor growth in a xenograft model and PDX model.The cell proliferation and migration are also detected in human hepatocarcinoma cell lines(SMMC-7721 and HCCLM3).Then,we investigate cell cycle,cell apoptosis,cell necrosis,cell autophagy,and ferroptosis by flow cytometry,western blot analysis and electron microscopy.The results demonstrate that EB exerts anti-proliferative activity in hepatic carcinoma by blocking cell cycle arrest at S phase and inducing ferroptosis mediated by endoplasmic reticulum(ER)stress,as well as HO-1 activation.When HO-1 is inhibited,EB-induced cell death and ER protein expression are rescued.The migration-related mechanism consists of activation of the ROS-ER-JNK signaling pathway and is not connected to ferroptosis.In summary,we first discover that EB inhibits cell proliferation and migration in hepatic carcinoma,and thus EB is a promising anti-tumor compound that can be used for hepatic carcinoma.Yonghui Zhang Haoyang Zhang Jinage Mu Meiyue Han Zhihao Cao Feng Dong Tingting Wang Lian Pan Wujing Luo Jiaxin Li Huan Liu Lishan Jin Wenxuan Ding Yong Wei Xuesong Deng Dan Liu Xiuzhen He Yi Pang Xiao Mu Zhongjun Wu Dilong Chen 2022Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2022,54,7:1
7Porous 2D CuO nanosheets for efficient triethylamine detection at low temperature显示文摘The freshness of seafood can be judged by detecting the concentration of triethylamine(TEA). In this work, 2D Cu O porous nanosheets(Cu O PNs) were prepared by a graphene oxide template method and their particle sizes were regulated by changing the calcination temperature. Their structure, morphology and gas sensing performances were investigated by various characterization methods. The response(Rg/Ra) of the gas sensor based on Cu O PNs calcined at 700oC was as high as 440-100 ppm TEA at the operating temperature of 40 ℃. The detection limit was as low as 0.25 ppm. In addition, the gas sensor has good selectivity and stability. The excellent TEA sensitivity is mainly resulted from the appropriate particle size and loose porous framework. 8A high strength, wear and corrosion-resistant, antibacterial and biocompatible Nb-5 at.% Ag alloy for dental and orthopedic implants显示文摘Refractory metal niobium(Nb) incorporated with a small amount of silver(Ag),the resulting Nb-Ag twophase alloys,were fabricated by mechanical alloying and spark plasma sintering.The microstructure,mechanical properties,wear resistance,corrosion behavior,in vitro and in vivo antibacterial properties and biocompatibility of the Nb-Ag alloys were systematically investigated.The results show that the mechanical properties,wear resistance,corrosion resistance and antibacterial ability were significantly enhanced after addition of 5 at.% Ag.The fabricated Nb-5 at.% Ag alloy demonstrates high yield strength of up to ~1486 MPa and fracture strain of ~35 %.The precipitated Ag particles could reduce friction and wear.The enhanced corrosion resistance was attributed to the higher relative density of the sintered alloys and the formation of a stable and dense passive film of niobium and silver oxides.In vitro and in vivo evaluations show that the Nb-5 at.% Ag alloy also has strong antibacterial activity and good biocompatibility and osteointegration ability.These results demonstrate great potential of the nanostructured Nb-Ag alloys for dental and orthopedic implants.Tian Wan Kangjie Chu Ju Fang Chuanxin Zhong Yiwen Zhang Xiang Ge Yonghui Ding Fuzeng Ren 2021Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,21:0
9Effects of Natural Brassinolide on Seed Germination and Hypocotyl Elongation of Beans显示文摘Seeds of soybeans and mung beans were soaked into five different concentrations( 0,0. 05,0. 10,0. 20,0. 30 mg / L) of natural brassinolide( NBR)solution. According to the results,natural brassinolide treatment could improve seed germination rate and hypocotyl-radicle ratio of soybeans and mung beans and promote the growth of sprouts.
