| 1 | Electroacupuncture regulates glucose-inhibited neurons in treatment of simple obesity显示文摘The glucose-inhibited neurons present in the lateral hypothalamic area are regarded as glucose detectors. This structure is involved in the regulation of food intake through extracellular blood glucose concentrations, and plays a crucial role in obesity onset. In the present study, obesity models established with high fat feeding were treated with electroacupuncture at Zusanli (ST36)/ Inner Court (ST44) on the left side and Tianshu (ST25) bilaterally. We found that electroacupuncture could effectively reduce body weight and the fat-weight ratio, and decrease serum leptin, resistin, tumor necrosis factor alpha, and neuropeptide Y levels, while increase serum adiponectin and cholecystokinin-8 levels. This treatment altered the electrical activity of glucose-inhibited neurons in the lateral hypothalamic area, with electroacupuncture at Zusanli/ Inner Court exerting an inhibitory effect, while electroacupuncture at bilateral Tianshu exerting an excitatory effect. | 2 | Orbital-scale Asian summer monsoon variations:Paradox and exploration显示文摘The Asian summer monsoon(ASM) is a vast climate system, whose variability is critical to the livelihoods of billions of people across the Asian continent. During the past half-century, much progress has been made in understanding variations on a wide range of timescales, yet several significant issues remain unresolved. Of note are two long-standing problems concerning orbital-scale variations of the ASM.(1) Chinese loess magnetic susceptibility records show a persistent glacial-interglacial dominated ~100 kyr(thousand years) periodicity, while the cave oxygen-isotope(δ18 O) records reveal periodicity in an almost pure precession band(~20 kyr periodicity)—the 'Chinese 100 kyr problem'.(2) ASM records from the Arabian Sea and other oceans surrounding the Asian continent show a significant lag of 8–10 kyr to Northern Hemisphere summer insolation(NHSI), whereas the Asian cave δ18 O records follow NHSI without a significant lag—a discrepancy termed the 'sea-land precession-phase paradox'. How can we reconcile these differences? Recent and more refined model simulations now provide spatial patterns of rainfall and wind across the precession cycle, revealing distinct regional divergences in the ASM domain, which can well explain a large portion of the disparities between the loess, marine, and cave proxy records. Overall, we also find that the loess, marine, and cave records are indeed complementary rather than incompatible, with each record preferentially describing a certain aspect of ASM dynamics. | 5 | Ginger-indirect moxibustion plus acupuncture versus acupuncture alone for chronic fatigue syndrome:a randomized controlled trial显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To assess the efficacy and safety of gingerindirect moxibustion for chronic fatigue syndrome(CFS).METHODS:In this central randomized,controlled trial,290 CFS participants were recruited and randomly allocated to group A(ginger-indirect moxibustion plus acupuncture)or group B(acupuncture alone).The study consisted of a treatment period of 8 weeks with a total of 24 treatments(3 sessions per week,every other day),and a follow-up period of 12 weeks.The outcome was measured by Fatigue Severity Scale(FSS),Psychological Health Report(SPHERE),the Self-rating depression scale(SDS)and the Hamilton anxiety scale(HAMA)at baseline,2,4,6,8,12 and 20 weeks.RESULTS:With the treatment undergoing,the changes of FSS,SPHERE,SDS and HAMA scores in both groups increased gradually,and the effect maintained at the 12th week.Between groups,significantly higher score changes were seen in group A in FSS after 4 weeks treatment(11.94 vs 9.12,95%CI:0.94,4.7)and in SPHERE after 2 weeks treatment(3.7 vs 2.27,95%CI:0.56,2.31).But for SDS and HAMA,the improvement did not differ significantly between groups.No severe adverse events were reported.CONCLUSION:Ginger-indirect moxibustion is a safe and effective intervention to relieve fatigue and accompanying physical symptoms of CFS. | MA Tingting WU Jie YANG Lijie FENG Fen YANG Huilin ZHANG Jinhua ZHONG Yanjin NING Qing HUANG Lirong LIN Youbing YAN Jue CHEN Guiquan HOU Tianshu WANG Li REN Yuanfang TAN Jing | 2022 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2022，42，2： | 2 |
