New Bradoriid Arthropods from the Early Cambrian Balang Formation of Eastern Guizhou, South China显示文摘The Early Cambrian Balang Formation is comprised of mudrock and shale, which was deposited in a shelf environment in the eastern part of Guizhou, south China. The Balang Fauna, which consists of seven phyla, occurs in the middle and upper parts of the Balang Formation. Arthropods are important constituents of the Balang Fauna and include a great number of trilobites, large bivalved arthropods, and newly-discovered well-preserved bradoriid fossils. The bradoriids present include three genera and four species : Comptaluta inflata (Cheng, 1974) emend Hou et al., 2002; Comptaluta kailiensis sp. nov., and Alutella elongeta sp. nov., Aluta sp. This faunal assemblage in the Balang Formation is distinguished from the Tsunyiella Chang, 1964, Songlinella Yin, 1978 and Kunmingella Hou, 1956 assemblage which occurs in the Niutitang and Mingxinsi formations of the Yangtze Platform in middle region of Guizhou and which is earlier than the Balang Formation in age. However, this assemblage resembles the Comptaluta pik, 1968 assemblage from the Early Cambrian Heilinpu Formation in Wuding County, Yuanan Province and from the Ordian Stage of the Cambrian of Australia. The great abundance of Comptaluta pik, 1968 and overall taxonomic diversity of the Comptaluta pik, 1968 assemblage set it distinctly apart from the Alutella Kobayashi et Kato, 1951 and Aluta Hou, 1956 assemblages of the Balang Formation. Alutella Kobayashi et Kato, 1951 and Aluta Hou, 1956 also occur in the Early Cambrian Niutitang Formation of the Yangtze Platform of Guizhou. Individual Bradoriids from the Balang Formation are characterized by large size (>3 mm). The discovery of new Bradoriid assemblages not only expands the group’s geographical range and assemblage affinities, but also indicates that Bradoriids migrated eastward from shallow-water to deeper-water environments during the Early Cambrian, indicating that they were capable of life in deeper-water, and adaptation to a new ecological setting.PENG Jin FENG Hongzhen FU Xiaoping ZHAO Yuanlong YAO Lu 2010Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2010,84,1:13
Comprehensive Characterization of miRNA and PHAS Loci in the Diploid Strawberry(Fragaria vesca) Genome显示文摘Small RNAs(sRNAs) are vital regulators of gene expression and involved in various biological processes. Among them, micro RNAs(mi RNAs) and phased small interfering RNAs(phasi RNAs) have been well defined and studied in the past decades. A bunch of scripts or pipelines were developed to annotate mi RNAs and phasi RNAs. However, some computational annotations are rough and without careful manual check, resulting in low quality annotation. In this study, 19 public strawberry(Fragaria vesca) s RNA sequencing data from nine different tissues were collected to annotate mi RNAs and PHAS loci in F. vesca. After bioinformatics analysis and careful manual checking, 167 known mi RNAs, 27 mi RNA*s with notable abundance, 54 novel mi RNAs were accurately annotated. The terms of two mi RNAs were corrected from mi R477 b and mi R5225 using mi RN47 and mi R3627 h, respectively. Besides 21 nucleotides(nt) mi R390, eleven mi RNAs with a length of 22-nt are in charge of triggering the biogenesis of 21-nt phasi RNAs from 110 PHAS loci in strawberry. In particular, we found several PHAS loci were targeted by two different mi RNAs(similar to the 'two-hit' model) and the phasi RNA generating region located between two target sites. We speculate that one target site is in control of triggering phasi RNA biogenesis and the other target site define the boundary of the region of phasi RNA biogenesis, which likely provide an accurate way for phasi RNA generation. Overall, we provided a comprehensive and accurate annotation of mi RNAs and PHAS loci in the F. vesca genome.Lei Feng Rui Xia Yuanlong Liu 2019Horticultural Plant Journal2019,5,6:13
Confining TiO_2 Nanotubes in PECVD-Enabled Graphene Capsules Toward Ultrafast K-Ion Storage: In Situ TEM/XRD Study and DFT Analysis显示文摘Titanium dioxide(TiO2) has gained burgeoning attention for potassium-ion storage because of its large theoretical capacity, wide availability, and environmental benignity.Nevertheless, the inherently poor conductivity gives rise to its sluggish reaction kinetics and inferior rate capability. Here,we report the direct graphene growth over TiO2 nanotubes by virtue of chemical vapor deposition.Such conformal graphene coatings effectively enhance the conductive environment and well accommodate the volume change of TiO2 upon potassiation/depotassiation.When paired with an activated carbon cathode, the graphene-armored TiO2 nanotubes allow the potassium-ion hybrid capacitor full cells to harvest an energy/power density of 81.2 Wh kg-1/3746.6 W kg-1.We further employ in situ transmis sion electron microscopy and ope rando X-ray diffraction to probe the potassium-ion storage behavior. This work offers a viable and versatile solution to the anode design and in situ probing of potassium storage technologies that is readily promising for practical applications.Jingsheng Cai Ran Cai Zhongti Sun Xiangguo Wang Nan Wei Feng Xu Yuanlong Shao Peng Gao Shixue Dou Jingyu Sun 2020Nano-Micro Letters2020,12,9:2
Inhibition of p53 and/or AKT as a new therapeutic approach specifically targeting ALT cancers显示文摘While the majority of all human cancers court teract telomere shortening by expressing telomerase,-15%of all cancers maintain telomere length by a telomerase?independent mechanism known as alternative lengthening of telomeres(ALT).Here,we show that high load of intrinsic DNA damage is present in ALT cancer cells, leading to apoptosis stress by activating p53-independent,but JNK/c-IVIyc-dependent apoptotic pathway.Notably,ALT cells expressing wild-type p53 show much lower apoptosis than p53-deficient ALT cells.Mechanistically,we find that intrinsic DNA damage in ALT cells induces low level of p53 that is insufficient to initiate the transcription of apoptosis-related genes, but is sufficient to stimulate the expression of key components of mTORC2(mTOR and Rictor),which in turn leads to phosphorylation of AKT.Activated AKT(p-AKT)thereby stimulates downstream anti-apoptotic events.Therefore,p53 and AKT are the key factors that suppress sponta?neous apoptosis in ALT cells.Indeed, inhibition of p53 or AKT selectively induces rapid death of ALT cells in vitro, and p53 inhibitor severely suppresses the growth of ALT-cell xenograft tumors in mice. These findings reveal a previously unrecognized function of p53 in antiapoptosis and identify that the inhibition of p53 or AKT has a potential as therapeutics for specifically targeting ALT cancers.Yuanlong Ge Shu Wu Zepeng Zhang Xiaocui Li Feng Li Siyu Yan Haiying Liu Junjiu Huang Yong Zhao 2019Protein & Cell2019,10,11:2

TBtools-II: A “one for all, all for one” bioinformatics platform for biological big-data mining显示文摘Since the official release of the stand-alone bioinformatics toolkit TBtools in 2020,its superior functionality in data analysis has been demonstrated by its widespread adoption by many thousands of users and references in more than 5000 academic articles. Now,TBtools is a commonly used tool in biological laboratories.Over the past 3 years, thanks to invaluable feedback and suggestions from numerous users,we have optimized and expanded the functionality of the toolkit, leading to the development of an upgraded version—TBtools-II.In this upgrade,we have incorporated over 100 new features, such as those for comparative genomics analysis, phylogenetic analysis, and data visualization.Meanwhile,to better meet the increasing needs of personalized data analysis,we have launched the plugin mode, which enables users to develop their own plugins and manage their selection, installation, and removal according to individual needs. To date, the plugin store has amassed over 50 plugins, with more than half of them being independently developed and contributed by TBtools users. These plugins offer a range of data analysis options including co-expression network analysis,single-cell data analysis, and bulked segregant analysis sequencing data analysis.Overall,TBtools is now transforming from a stand-alone software to a comprehensive bioinformatics platform of a vibrant and cooperative community in which users are also developers and contributors.By promoting the theme“one for all,all for one”,we believe that TBtools-II will greatly benefit more biological researchers in this big-data era.Chengjie Chen Ya Wu Jiawei Li Xiao Wang Zaohai Zeng Jing Xu Yuanlong Liu Junting Feng Hao Chen Yehua He Rui Xia 2023Molecular Plant2023,16,11:0
CH_(3)I sensing using yttrium single atom-doped perovskite nanocrystals显示文摘Nanocrystals(NCs)of cesium lead halide perovskites are optically unstable, which prevents their use in optical sensors. The combination of perovskite NCs and metal single atoms(SAs)may be a good solution to this issue.Unfortunately, depositing metal SAs on perovskite NCs remains a challenge due to relative weak metal-halide bonds.Herein,we present that, via a photo assisted method using cesium lead halide perovskite NCs as host material to anchor Y single atoms,we successfully synthesize Y SA anchored CsPbBr_(3)NCs(Y-SA/CsPbBr_(3)NCs)with outstanding fluorescence stability through the formation of two Y-O bonds and two Y-Br bonds. In comparison to bare CsPbBr_(3)NCs,Y-SA/CsPbBr_(3)NCs possess more stable optical characteristics. The as-synthesized Y-SA/CsPbBr_(3)NCs can be employed as a colorimetric platform to perform rapid CH_(3)I sensing.Detection limit of 0.044 ppm is exhibited in this approach with excellent anti-interference performance. The YSA/CsPbBr_(3)NCs-based system has been applied to the detection of CH_(3)I in sweet potato samples with satisfying results.Xiaowei Feng Yuanlong Qin Rui Sui Guo Wang Xinyu Zhang Xinyu Liu Jiajing Pei Di Liu Zhengbo Chen 2023Nano Research2023,16,7:0

Another Year of Record Heat for the Oceans显示文摘Changes in ocean heat content(OHC), salinity, and stratification provide critical indicators for changes in Earth’s energy and water cycles. These cycles have been profoundly altered due to the emission of greenhouse gasses and other anthropogenic substances by human activities, driving pervasive changes in Earth’s climate system. In 2022, the world’s oceans, as given by OHC, were again the hottest in the historical record and exceeded the previous 2021 record maximum.According to IAP/CAS data, the 0–2000 m OHC in 2022 exceeded that of 2021 by 10.9 ± 8.3 ZJ(1 Zetta Joules = 1021Joules);and according to NCEI/NOAA data, by 9.1 ± 8.7 ZJ. Among seven regions, four basins(the North Pacific, North Atlantic, the Mediterranean Sea, and southern oceans) recorded their highest OHC since the 1950s. The salinity-contrast index, a quantification of the “salty gets saltier–fresh gets fresher” pattern, also reached its highest level on record in 2022,implying continued amplification of the global hydrological cycle. Regional OHC and salinity changes in 2022 were dominated by a strong La Ni?a event. Global upper-ocean stratification continued its increasing trend and was among the top seven in 2022.Lijing CHENG John ABRAHAM Kevin ETRENBERTH John FASULLO Tim BOYER Michael EMANN Jiang ZHU Fan WANG Ricardo LOCARNINI Yuanlong LI Bin ZHANG Fujiang YU Liying WAN Xingrong CHEN Licheng Feng Xiangzhou SONG Yulong LIU Franco RESEGHETTI Simona SIMONCELLI Viktor GOURETSKI Gengxin CHEN Alexey MISHONOV Jim REAGAN Guancheng LI 2023Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2023,40,6:0
Ginkgo biloba extract protects against depression-like behavior in mice through regulating gut microbial bile acid metabolism显示文摘Depression is a mental disorder with high morbidity, disability and relapse rates.Ginkgo biloba extract(GBE),a traditional Chinese medicine, has a long history of clinical application in the treatment of cerebral and mental disorders, but the key mechanism remains incompletely understood. Here we showed that GEB exerted anti-depressant effect in mice through regulating gut microbial metabolism.GBE protected against unpredictable mild stress(UMS)-induced despair,anxiety-like and social avoidance behavior in mice without sufficient brain distribution.Fecal microbiome transplantation transmitted, while antibiotic cocktail abrogated the protective effect of GBE.Spatiotemporal bacterial profiling and metabolomics assay revealed a potential involvement of Parasutterella excrementihominis and the bile acid metabolite ursodeoxycholic acid(UDCA)in the effect of GBE.UDCA administration induced depression-like behavior in mice.Together, these findings suggest that GBE acts on gut microbiome-modulated bile acid metabolism to alleviate stress-induced depression.ZHOU Junchi FAN Qilin CAI Xiaoying ZHANG Youying HOU Yuanlong CAO Shuqi LIZiguang FENG Mengzhen WANG Qingqing ZHANG Jianbing WANG Guangi ZHENG Xiao HAO Haiping 2023Chinese Journal of Natural Medicines2023,21,10:0
Kinetic and thermodynamic synergy of organic small molecular additives enables constructed stable zinc anode显示文摘An organic small molecule additive zinc formate is introduced to construct stable Zn metal interphase by electrochemical kinetic control and thermodynamic adjustment. It partially forms a water-formate concomitant dipole layer at the internal Helmholtz electrical double layers(HEDLs) under the preferential adsorption function of formate on Zn surface, reducing the occurrence of side reactions at phase interface.Meanwhile, free formate in HEDLs regulates the Zn^(2+) solvation sheath structure to accelerate the desolvation, transference, and deposition kinetics of Zn^(2+).Besides,the hydrolysis reaction of zinc formate increases the hydrogen evolution overpotential, inhibiting the thermodynamic tendency of hydrogen evolution.Consequently,it presents stable cycle for more than 2400 h at 5 mA cm^(-2),as well as an average Coulombic efficiency of 99.8% at 1 A g^(-1) after 800 cycles in the Zn‖VO_(2) full cell. The interphase engineering strategy zinc anode by organic small molecular brings new possibility towards high-performance aqueous zinc-ion batteries.Yang Gao Mingshan Wang Hao Wang Xinpeng Li Yuanwei Chu Zhicheng Tang Yuanlong Feng Jiaqi Wang Yong Pan Zhiyuan Ma Zhenliang Yang Dan Zhou Xing Li 2023Journal of Energy Chemistry2023,,9:0
The role of telomere-binding modulators in pluripotent stem cells显示文摘Pluripotent stem cells(PSCs)such as embryonic stem cells(ESCs),ESCs derived by somatic cell nuclear transfer(ntESCs),and induced pluripotent stem cells(iPSCs)have unlimited capacity for self-renewal and pluripotency and can give rise to all types of somatic cells. In order to maintain their self-renewal and pluripotency,PSCs need to preserve their telomere length and homeostasis. In recent years, increasing studies have shown that telomere reprogramming is essential for stem cell pluripotency maintenance and its induced pluripotency process.Telomere-associated proteins are not only required for telomere maintenance in both stem cells, their extra-telomeric functions have also been found to be critical as well. Here,we will discuss how telomeres and telomere-associated factors participate and regulate the maintenance of stem cell pluripotency.Feng Li Yuanlong Ge Dan Liu Zhou Songyang 2020Protein & Cell2020,11,1:0
