1Health risk assessment of heavy metals in soils and vegetables from wastewater irrigated area,Beijing-Tianjin city cluster,China显示文摘The possible health risks of heavy metals contamination to local population through food chain were evaluated in Beijing and Tianjin city cluster,China,where have a long history of sewage irrigation.The transfer factors(TF) for heavy metals from soil to vegetables for six elements including Cu,Zn,Pb,Cr,As and Cd were calculated and the pollution load indexes(PLI) were also assessed.Results indicate that only Cd exceeded the maximum acceptable limit in these sites.So far,the heavy metal concentrations in soils and vegetables were all below the permissible limits set by the Ministry of Environmental Protection of China and World Health Organization.The transfer factors of six heavy metals showed the trend as Cd > Zn > Cu > Pb > As > Cr,which were dependent on the vegetable species.The estimated dietary intakes of Cu,Zn,Pb,Cr,As and Cd were far below the tolerable limits and the target hazard quotient(THQ) values were less than 1,which suggested that the health risks of heavy metals exposure through consuming vegetables were generally assumed to be safe.Yanchun Wang Min Qiao Yunxia Liu Yongguan Zhu 2012Journal of Environmental Sciences2012,24,4:52

4Genetic analysis and molecular mapping of a presenescing leaf gene psll in rice (Oryza sativa L.)显示文摘A rice psl1 (presenescing leaf) mutant was obtained from a japonica variety Zhonghua 11 via radiation of 60Co-γ in M2 generation. Every leaf of the mutant began to wither after it reached the big-gest length,while the leaves of the wild variety could keep green for 25―35 d. In this study,genetic analysis and gene mapping were carried out for the mutant identified. The SSR marker analysis showed that the mutant was controlled by a single recessive gene (psl1) located on chromosome 2. Fine mapping of the psl1 locus was conducted with 34 new STS markers developed around psl1 anchored region based on the sequence diversity between Nippon-bare and 93-11. The psl1 was further mapped be-tween two STS markers,STS2-19 and STS2-26,with genetic distances of 0.43 and 0.11 cM,respectively,while cosegregated with STS2-25. A BAC contig was found to span the psl1 locus,the region being delim-ited to 48 kb. 5The HuangZaoSi Maize Genome Provides Insights into Genomic Variation and Improvement History of Maize显示文摘Maize is a globally important crop that was a classic model plant for genetic studies. Here, we report a 2.2 Gb draft genome sequence of an elite maize line, HuangZaoSi (HZS). Hybrids bred from HZS-improved lines (HILs) are planted in more than 60% of maize fields in China. Proteome clustering of six completed sequeneed maize genomes show that 638 proteins fall into 264 HZS-specific gene families with the majority of contributions from tandem duplication events. Resequencing and comparative analysis of 40 HZSrelated lines reveals the breeding history of HILs. More than 60% of identified selective sweeps were clustered in identity.by.descent conserved regions, and yield-related genes/QTLs were enriched in HZS characteristic selected regions. Furthermore, we dem on strated that HZS-specific family genes were not uniformly distributed in the genome but enriched in improvement/function.related genomic regions. 6Cigarette Smoking Increases Risk for Incident Metabolic Syndrome in Chinese Men—Shanghai Diabetes Study显示文摘Objective To determine whether smoking increases the risk for developing metabolic syndrome (MetS) in Chinese men.Methods A total of 693 men with no MetS at baseline were followed for 2.9‐5.5 years.Subjects were divided into nonsmokers,ex‐smokers,and current smokers according to baseline smoking status.Results After adjusting for age,education level,alcohol intake,fasting plasma insulin,HOMA‐IR index,and BMI at baseline and weight change,current smokers were dose‐dependently associated with increased risk for developing new MetS compared with nonsmokers.The odds ratio (OR) was 2.131 (95% CI,1.264,3.592;P<0.01) for the NCEPIII definition or 3.083 (95% CI,1.807,5.295;P<0.01) for the JCDCG definition of MetS.Ex‐smokers who had quit for ≥13 years significantly decreased the risk for developing new MetS defined by the JCDCG definition.Compared with nonsmokers,current smokers were significantly associated with increased incidence of hypertriglyceridemia and low HDL‐C.Conclusion Smoking is a risk factor for developing MetS in Chinese men after adjusting for age,education level,alcohol intake,fasting plasma insulin,HOMA‐IR,BMI,and weight change.This could be due to an increased incidence of dyslipidemia.Smoking cessation for >13 years decreased the risk for developing MetS defined by the JCDCG definition.ZHU YunXia ZHANG MingLiang HOU XuHong LU JunXi PENG LiangPu GU HuiLin WANG Chen JIA WeiPing 2011Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2011,24,5:13
7Response of tree-ring width to rainfall gradient along the Tianshan Mountains of northwestern China显示文摘By comparing the long-term tree-ring growths at various geographic scales, we can make clear the effects of environmental variations on tree growth, and get an understanding of the responses of forest ecosystems to the possible changes in global and regional climate. Radial tree-ring growth of Picea schrenkiana and its relationship to air temperature and precipitation were investigated across longi- tude transects on the north slopes of the Tianshan Mountains in northwestern China. Tree-ring samples were collected and residual chronologies were developed for three different regions along a gradient of decreasing precipitation from west to east. Response-function analysis was conducted to quantify the relationships between tree-ring chronologies and climate variables, such as monthly mean temperature and monthly precipitation from 1961 to 1998, using the PRECON software program. The statistical characteristics of the chronologies showed that the three chronologies constructed in this study con- tained significant environmental signals and were well suitable to reveal the impacts of climatic change on tree growth and forest productivity. Annual ring-width variations were similar among the three sites, but the variability was greatest in the east. This research showed that the growth trends of Picea schrenkiana in the Tianshan Mountains have not followed a uniform pattern. Response-function analy- sis indicated that there were significant correlations between tree growth and climatic factors in all the three regions, among which precipitation was the principal. With decreasing precipitation, the response of tree-ring widths to increasing temperature changed from a positive to a negative correlation. As for precipitation, the positive relationship to tree-ring width always dominates. It could be expected that with increased temperature and decreased precipitation, the importance of precipitation to tree growth would increase, and the response of tree growth to environmental changes would also increase. This study emphasizes the importance of regional-scale investigations into the biosphere-climate interac- tions. The results of this research indicated a substantial increment of tree-ring radial growth as a re- sult of warmer and wetter climate in the eastern regions. 9Meaningful comparison of photocatalytic properties of {001} and {101} faceted anatase TiO2 nanocrystals显示文摘The facet-dependent photocatalytic performance of TiO_2 nanocrystals has been extensively investigated due to their promising applications in renewable energy and environmental fields. However, the intrinsic distinction in the photocatalytic oxidation activities between the {001}and {101} facets of anatase TiO_2 nanocrystals is still unclear and under debate. In this work, a simple photoelectrochemical method was employed to meaningfully quantify the intrinsic photocatalytic activities of {001} and{101} faceted TiO_2 nanocrystal photoanodes. The effective surface areas of photoanodes with different facets were measured based on the monolayer adsorption of phthalic acid on TiO_2 photoanode surface by an ex situ photoelectrochemical method, which were used to normalize the photocurrents obtained from different faceted photoanodes for meaningful comparison of their photocatalytic activities. The results demonstrated that the {001} facets of anatase TiO_2 nanocrystals exhibited much better photocatalytic activity than that of {101} facets of anatase TiO_2 nanocrystals toward photocatalytic oxidation of water and organic compounds with different functional groups(e.g.,–OH, –CHO, –COOH). 10Micro-structure sensors based on ZnO microcrystals with contact-controlled ethanol sensing显示文摘ZnO microcrystals are synthesized through a facile solution method and characterized by field-emission scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, selected area electron diffraction and X-ray diffraction. The ethanol sensing properties of these microcrystals are investigated by spin-coating them on a silicon substrate with Pt electrodes to fabricate a micro-structure sensor. The sensitivity is up to 8 when the sensor is exposed to 50 ppm ethanol, and the response time and recovery time are 10 s and 20 s, respectively. 11Synthesis of nanoiron by microemulsion with Span/Tween as mixed surfactants for reduction of nitrate in water显示文摘Denitrification of nitrate in groundwater using iron nanoparticles has received increasing interest in recent years.In order to fabricate iron nanoparticles with homoge-neously spherical shape and narrow size distribution,a simple and“green”method was developed to synthesize iron nano-particles.The conventional microemulsion methods were modified by applying Span 80 and Tween 60 as mixed sur-factants.The maximum content of water in the Water-in-oil(W/O)microemulsion and its appropriate forming conditions were found,and then the microemulsion system consisting of saturated Fe^(2+)solution was used to synthesizeα-Fe ultrafine particles by redox reaction.The nanoparticles were characterized by using powder X-ray diffraction(XRD)and transmission electron microscopy(TEM).The results show that the average diameter of the particle is about 80-90 nm.The chemical activity of the obtained iron nanoparticles was studied by the denitrification experiment of nitrate.The results show that under the experimental conditions,iron removed most of the 80 mg/L nitrate within 30 min.The mass balance of nitrate reduction with nanoscale Fe indicates that endproducts are mainly ammonia.Two possible reaction pathways for nitrate reduction by nanoscale iron particles have been proposed in this work.ZHANG Yunxia LI Tielong JIN Zhaohui WANG Wei WANG Shuaima 2007Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2007,1,4:6
12Hepatitis B virus X protein enhances hepatocarcinogenesis by depressing the targeting of NUSAP1 mRNA by miR-18b显示文摘Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the underlying mechanism whereby HBx modulates the targeting of NUSAP1 by miR-18b to enhance hepatocarcinogenesis.Methods: We employed an integrated approach of bioinformatics analysis and molecular experiments in hepatoma cells, HBV transgenic mice, and clinical liver cancer tissues to investigate the role of HBx-regulated miR-18b in the development of liver cancer.Results: In this study, we report that the HBx-mediated tumor suppressor miR-18b modulates hepatocarcinogenesis during the host-HBV interaction. The expression levels of miR-18b were lower in clinical HBV-positive liver cancer tissues and liver tissues of HBV-transgenic mice. Interestingly, HBx inhibited miR-18b expression by inducing the methylation of CpG islands in its promoter. Accordingly, we tested the hypothesis that HBx enhanced hepatocarcinogenesis by increasing the expression of target genes of miR-18b. Moreover, we identified nucleolar spindle-associated protein 1(NUSAP1) as one of the target genes of miR-18b.NUSAP1 was expressed at high levels in liver cancer tissues. Interestingly, HBx up-regulated NUSAP1 by suppressing miR-18b.Functionally, miR-18b significantly inhibited the proliferation of hepatoma cells by depressing NUSAP1 levels in vivo and in vitro.Conclusions: Thus, we conclude that the targeting of NUSAP1 mRNA by the tumor suppressor miR-18b is controlled by HBxmodulated promoter methylation during the host-virus interaction, leading to hepatocarcinogenesis. 13Tungstophosphoric heteropolyacid supported onto neutral alumina: characterization and synthesis of acetals and ketals显示文摘Tungstophosphoric acid (HPW) catalyst supported on the neural alumina was studied. It was prepared by means of an equilibrium and incipient wetness impregnation technique. Solution of HPW in 50% V/V ethanol-water was used to impregnate Al2O3 at 25°C. It was found that the catalyst containing 30% PW by calcination at 500°C showed a higher catalytic activity in the synthesis of acetals and/or ketals. In the following condition, that is, the molar ratio of aldehyde/ketone to glycol being 1:1.5,the mass fraction of the catalyst used was 0.5%, and the reaction time was 1.0 h; the yields of ketals and acetals could reach up to 60.5%-86.7%. 14Design and experimental study of seed precise delivery mechanism for high-speed maize planter显示文摘Aiming at improving the seed spacing uniformity of maize planter at high forward speed,a seed precise delivery mechanism driven by electric motor has been developed and evaluated in laboratory.The mechanism was designed to deliver single seed from seed meter to furrow.Seed’s movement from the seed release point in a seed meter to the seed delivery cavity in the belt was analyzed,the mathematical model of seed movement in the seed precise delivery mechanism was established based on seed delivery time analysis.A mechanical prototype was designed and associated control system was developed.The performance contrast experiment was conducted between a traditional seed tube and newly developed seed precise delivery mechanism,and test results indicated that the qualities of feed index of the seed precise delivery mechanism were higher than those of the traditional seed tube delivery mechanism,and the coefficients of variation of the seed precise delivery mechanism were lower than those of the traditional seed tube delivery mechanism when the forward speed of planter was set at 10 km/h,12 km/h and 14 km/h,respectively.It indicated the seed precise delivery mechanism significantly improved seed spacing uniformity of maize planter compared with the traditional seed tube delivery mechanism.Quanwei Liu Tao Cui Dongxing Zhang Li Yang Yunxia Wang Xiantao He Mantao Wang 2018International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2018,11,4:4
15Identification of a locus associated with genic male sterility in maize via EMS mutagenesis and bulked-segregant RNA-seq显示文摘Genic male sterility(GMS) is one of the most important resources for exploiting heterosis in crop breeding, so that identifying genomic loci regulating GMS is desirable. However, many regulatory genes controlling GMS have not yet been characterized in maize, owing partly to a lack of genetic materials. We generated a recessive male-sterile maize mutant in the Jing 724 genetic background via ethyl methanesulfonate treatment, and found the male sterility to be due to a single gene mutation. Bulk-segregant RNA sequencing of three replicates indicated that one genomic region located at the end of chromosome 4 was associated with the observed mutant phenotype. Among genes with nonsynonymous mutations,Zm00001 d053895(bHLH51) showed abolished expression in the sterile bulks and was annotated as a bHLH transcription factor orthologous to Arabidopsis AMS, suggesting an association with the male sterility of the mutant. Kompetitive Allele-Specific PCR assays further validated the exclusive correlation of male sterility with the single C-to-T mutation in the fifth exon. 16Design of depth-control planting unit with single-side gauge wheel for no-till maize precision planter显示文摘No-till planters are very popular for maize seeding in fields covered with residue in annual wheat-maize double cropping system in North China Plain.However,there is no suitable depth control mechanism for existing no-till maize planters,and as a result,it is hard to obtain consistent planting depth,uniform emergence,and good passing ability at the same time.For the above reasons,a proper planting unit with a new type of depth-control mechanism was developed in this study.The mechanism consists of a single-side gauge wheel,a parallel four-bar linkage,a pair of double-disc opener,a V-shape press wheel and a depth regulator,which can adjust the planting depth from 30 mm to 90 mm to satisfy the agronomic requirement under different field conditions.Based on analysis and calculation,the width of gauge wheel was set to 50 mm while the length of parallel four-bar linkage was set to 350 mm.Field experiment was conducted and the results indicated that the newly designed planting unit with single-side gauge wheel performed well with regard to planting depth uniformity and anti-blocking ability.The planting depth uniformity and seed spacing quality were 95.45%and 91.90%,respectively,when the average height of stubble was 22.5 cm and residue amount was 0.64 kg/m^(2)in the field.It can satisfy the requirement of no-till maize planting on the cropland with residue and stubble in North China Plain.Zhang Rui Cui Tao Han Dandan Zhang Dongxing Li Kehong Yin Xiaowei Wang Yunxia He Xiantao Yang Li 2016International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2016,9,6:4
17MicroRNA-142-3p is frequently upregulated in colorectal cancer and may be involved in the regulation of cell proliferation显示文摘MicroRNAs are small single-stranded RNA molecules consisting of approximately 22 nucleotides (nt), and have post-transcriptional regulatory functions. By gene chip screening, we previously showed that miR-142-3p was significantly upregulated in colorectal cancer tissue and was associated with clinicopathological features, compared with matched non-tumor tissue. In this study, we confirmed significant upregulation of miR-142-3p in 60 colorectal cancer samples and three colorectal cancer cell lines by quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR). Using software and network resources, we predicted TCF7 as a target of miR-142-3p, which we confirmed with dual-luciferase assays. By RT-PCR and Western blot analysis, we found miR-142-3p negatively regulates TCF7 expression post-transcriptionally. CCK8 assays and growth curves indicated that overexpression of miR-142-3p in SW480 colorectal cancer cells potently inhibited cell proliferation in vitro. The expression of TCF7 mRNA and protein was upregulated in both colorectal cancer tissues and colorectal cancer cell lines, closely correlating with its function as an oncogene in promoting tumor cell proliferation and inhibiting apoptosis. 20Pingwei capsules improve gastrointestinal motility in rats with functional dyspepsia显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To investigate the mechanism of Ping-wei capsules(PWC) in improving gastrointestinal m otility in rats with functional dyspepsia(FD).METHODS: We established an FD model by stimu-lating semi-starvation rats via tail damping, provo-cation, and forced exercise fatigue. The FD model group was further divided into five groups accord-ing to the treatment received: normal saline, dom-peridone, low-dose PWC, mid-dose PWC, or highdose PWC. The effect of PWC on FD was evaluated by measuring gastrointestinal motility. Changes in leptin and cholecystokinin(CCK) were detected through enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, re-verse transcription-polymerase chain reaction, and immunohistochemistry.RESULTS: PWC significantly increased gastrointesti-nal m otility in FD rats. Furthermore, PWC signifi-cantly increased CCK m RNA and protein concentra-tions in the duodenum and antrum, decreased leptin protein concentrations in the duodenum, an-trum, and hypothalamus, and decreased CCK pro-tein concentration in the hypothalamus.CONCLUSION: PWC improves gastrointestinal mo-tor function in FD rats by decreasing the leptin con-centration in serum and the brain-gut axis, and by increasing the CCK concentration in gastrointesti-nal tissue.
