| 4 | Long-distance ranging with high precision using a soliton microcomb显示文摘Laser-based light detection and ranging(lidar)plays a significant role in both scientific and industrial areas.However,it is difficult for existing lidars to achieve high speed,high precision,and long distance simultaneously.Here,we demonstrate a high-performance lidar based on a chip-scaled soliton microcomb(SMC)that can realize all three specialties simultaneously.Aided by the excellent properties of ultrahigh repetition rate and the smooth envelope of the SMC,traditional optical frequency comb(OFC)-based dispersive interferometry is heavily improved and the measuring dead zone induced by the mismatch between the repetition rate of the OFC and resolution of the optical spectrum analyzer is totally eliminated.Combined with an auxiliary dual-frequency phase-modulated laser range finder,the none-dead-zone measurable range ambiguity is extended up to 1500 m.The proposed SMC lidar is experimentally implemented in both indoor and outdoor environment.In the outdoor baseline field,real-time,high-speed(up to 35 k Hz)measurement of a long distance of^1179 m is achieved with a minimum Allan deviation of 5.6μm at an average time of 0.2 ms(27 nm at an average time of 1.8 s after high-pass filtering).The present SMC lidar approaches a compact,fast,high-precision,and none-dead zone long-distance ranging system,aimed at emerging applications of frontier basic scientific research and advances in industrial manufacturing. | JINDONG WANG ZHIZHOU LU WEIQIANG WANG FUMIN ZHANG JIAWEI CHEN YANG WANG JIHUI ZHENG SAI T.CHU WEI ZHAO BRENT E.LITTLE XINGHUA QU WENFU ZHANG | 2020 | Photonics Research2020,8,12: | 8 |

| 6 | Dynamic analysis of heat extraction rate by supercritical carbon dioxide in fractured rock mass based on a thermal-hydraulic-mechanics coupled model显示文摘Heat production from geothermal reservoirs is a typical heat transfer process involving a cold working fluid contacting a hot rock formation.Compared to the thermal-physical characteristics of water,supercritical CO_(2)(scCO_(2))has a higher heat storage capacity over a wide temperature-pressure range and may be favored as a heat transfer fluid.Singularly characteristic of scCO_(2)-based heat extraction is that the hydraulic-thermal properties of the scCO_(2) vary dramatically and dynamically with the spatial pressure gradient during unsteady-state flow along fracture.This highly nonlinear behavior presents a challenge in the accurate estimation of heat extraction efficiency in scCO_(2)-based EGS.In this paper,a thermal-h ydraulic-mechanical(THM)coupled model is developed by considering deformation of the fractured reservoir,non-Darcy flow and the varying thermal-physical properties of scCO_(2).The proposed model is validated by matching the modeling temperature distribution with published data.The results show that during continuous injection of scCO_(2),the fracture first widens and then narrows,ultimately reopening over the long term.The sequential fracture deformation behaviors are in response to the combined impacts of mechanical compression and thermally-induced deformation.By controlling the injection parameters of the scCO_(2),it is found that the heat extraction rate is positively correlated to its pore pressure or mass flow rate.The heat extraction rate can be significantly enhanced,when the inlet temperature of scCO_(2) is below its critical temperature.As a result,the heat increment recovered per unit mass of scCO_(2) decreases as the hot rock is gradually cooled.Meanwhile,the heat increment recovered per unit mass of scCO_(2) decreases by increasing the inlet temperature of scCO_(2) or its mass flow rate,but increases as the outlet pressure rises.Furthermore,multi-linear regression indicates that controlling the inlet temperature of the scCO_(2) can significantly improve the thermodynamic efficiency of heat extraction. | Chunguang Wang Xingkai Shi Wei Zhang Derek Elsworth Guanglei Cui Shuqing Liu Hongxu Wang Weiqiang Song Songtao Hu Peng Zheng | 2022 | International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2022,32,2: | 3 |

| 8 | Derivation and characterization of human embryonic stem cell lines from poor quality embryos显示文摘Poor quality embryos discarded from in vitro fertilization (IVF) laboratories are good sources for deriving human embryonic stem cell (hESC) lines. In this study, 166 poor quality embryos donated from IVF centers on day 3 were cultured in a blastocyst medium for 2 days, and 32 early blastocysts were further cultured in a blastocyst optimum culture medium for additional 2 days so that the inner cell masses (ICMs) could be identified and isolated easily. The ICMs of 17 blastocysts were isolated by a mechanical method, while those of the other 15 blastocysts were isolated by immunosurgery. All isolated ICMs were inoculated onto a feeder layer for subcultivation. The rates of ICM at- tachment, primary ICM colony formation and the efficiency of hESC derivation were similar between the ICMs isolated by the two methods (P>0.05). As a result, four new hESC lines were established. Three cell lines had normal karyotypes and one had an unbalanced Robertsonian translocation. All cell lines showed normal hESC characteristics and had the differentiation ability. In conclusion, we established a stable and effective method for hESC isolation and culture, and it was confirmed that the mechanical isolation was an effective method to isolate ICMs from poor embryos. | 11 | Polar Coded Iterative Multiuser Detection for Sparse Code Multiple Access System显示文摘Polar coded sparse code multiple access(SCMA) system is conceived in this paper. A simple but new iterative multiuser detection framework is proposed, which consists of a message passing algorithm(MPA) based multiuser detector and a soft-input soft-output(SISO) successive cancellation(SC) polar decoder. In particular, the SISO polar decoding process is realized by a specifically designed soft re-encoder, which is concatenated to the original SC decoder. This soft re-encoder is capable of reconstructing the soft information of the entire polar codeword based on previously detected log-likelihood ratios(LLRs) of information bits. Benefiting from the soft re-encoding algorithm, the resultant iterative detection strategy is able to obtain a salient coding gain. | 12 | Mesenchymal stromal cells alleviate acute respiratory distress syndrome through the cholinergic anti-inflammatory pathway显示文摘Mesenchymal stromal cells(MSCs)have been considered a promising alternative for treatment of acute respiratory distress syndrome(ARDS).However,there is significant heterogeneity in their therapeutic efficacy,largely owing to the incomplete understanding of the mechanisms underlying the therapeutic activities of MSCs.Here,we hypothesize that the cholinergic antiinflammatory pathway(CAP),which is recognized as a neuroimmunological pathway,may be involved in the therapeutic mechanisms by which MSCs mitigate ARDS.Using lipopolysaccharide(LPS)and bacterial lung inflammation models,we found that inflammatory cell infiltration and Evans blue leakage were reduced and that the expression levels of choline acetyltransferase(ChAT)and vesicular acetylcholine transporter(VAChT)in lung tissue were significantly increased 6 hours after MSC infusion.When the vagus nerve was blocked orα7 nicotinic acetylcholine(ACh)receptor(α7nAChR)-knockout mice were used,the therapeutic effects of MSCs were significantly reduced,suggesting that the CAP may play an important role in the effects of MSCs in ARDS treatment.Our results further showed that MSC-derived prostaglandin E2(PGE2)likely promoted ACh synthesis and release.Additionally,based on the efficacy of nAChR andα7nAChR agonists,we found that lobeline,the nicotinic cholinergic receptor excitation stimulant,may attenuate pulmonary inflammation and alleviate respiratory symptoms of ARDS patients in a clinical study(ChiCTR2100047403).In summary,we reveal a previously unrecognized MSC-mediated mechanism of CAP activation as the means by which MSCs alleviate ARDS-like syndrome,providing insight into the clinical translation of MSCs or CAP-related strategies for the treatment of patients with ARDS. | Xiaoran Zhang Xuxia Wei Yiwen Deng Xiaofeng Yuan Jiahao Shi Weijun Huang Jing Huang Xiaoyong Chen Shuwei Zheng Jieying Chen Keyu Chen Ruiming Xu Hongmiao Wang Weiqiang Li Shiyue Li Huimin Yi Andy Peng Xiang | 2022 | Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2022,7,10: | 1 |

| 15 | Styrene epoxidation catalyzed by polyoxometalate/quaternary ammonium phase transfer catalysts: The effect of cation size and catalyst deactivation mechanism显示文摘Catalytic epoxidation of alkenes is an important type of organic reaction in chemical industry,and the deep insight into catalyst deactivation will help to develop new epoxidation process.In this work,series of quaternary ammoniums bearing different cationic sizes,i.e.MTOA+(methyltrioctylammonium,[(C_(8)H_(17))_(3)CH_(3)N]+),HTMA+(hexadecyltrimethylammonium,[(C_(16)H_(33))(CH_(3))_(3)N]+) and DMDOA+(dimethyldioctadecylammonium,[(C_(18)H_(37))_(2)(CH_(3))_(2)N]+) were incorporated with polyoxometalate (POM) anions to prepare phase transfer catalysts (PTCs),which were used in the styrene epoxidations.Among them,(MTOA)_(3)PW_(4)O_(24)exhibits the best catalytic performance judged from the highest styrene conversion rate(52%) and styrene oxide selectivity (93%),during which the styrene epoxidation conditions were optimized.Meanwhile,the deactivation mechanism of this kind of PTCs was proposed firstly,i.e.in the case of low H_(2)O_(2) content,the oxidant can only be used in the styrene epoxidation,in which the catalyst can transform into stable Keggin-type POM.But when the content of H_(2)O_(2) is higher,the excess H_(2)O_(2) can reactivate the Keggin-type POM into active (PW_(4)O_(24))_(3)-anions,which can trigger the ring-opening polymerization of styrene oxide.Consequently,the catalyst is deactivated by adhered poly(styrene oxide)irreversibly,which was determined by NMR spectra.In this situation,the active moiety{PO_(4)[WO(O_(2))_(2)]_(4)}_(3)-in phase-transfer catalytic system can break into some unidentified species with low W/P ratio with the presence of epoxides.This work will be beneficial for the design of new PTCs in alkene epoxidation in fine chemical industry. | Qiongna Xiao Yuyan Jiang Weiqiang Yuan Jingjing Chen Haohong Li Huidong Zheng | 2023 | Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2023,55,3: | 0 |

| 18 | Research on mineral processing of low quality kalium-natrium feldspar显示文摘In light of characteristic of low quality feldspar ores in Wanzai County,Jiangxi Province,steel ball was taken as grinding medium,and selective grinding could make impurity separate from feldspar effectively. Through the flow of flotation-desliming-high gradient magnetic separation,the feldspar Concentration 1 was obtained with the yield of 70.19 %,containing Fe2O3 0.17 % and TiO2 0.07 %. The feldspar Concentrate 1 could meet the quality requirement of high-grade construction ceramic. And the slime that was deslimed in the flow was also separated and recovered; the feldspar Concentration 2 was obtained with the yield of 13.18 %,containing Fe2O3 0.31 % and TiO2 0.17 %. The feldspar Concentrate 2 can be used for raw material of low-end ceramic. And gangue,with the yield of 16.63 %,was thrown away in this flow,the separating efficiency was high. | 19 | The MAX2-KAI2 module promotes salicylic acid-mediated immune responses in Arabidopsis显示文摘Arabidopsis MORE AXILLARY GROWTH2 MAX2)is a key component in the strigolactone(SL)and karrikin(KAR)signaling pathways and regulates the degradation of SUPPRESSOR OF MAX21/SMAX1-like(SMAX1/SMXL)proteins,which are transcriptional co-repressors that regulate plant architecture,as well as abiotic and biotic stress responses.The max2 mutation reduces resistance against Pseudomonas syringae pv.tomato(Pst).To uncover the mechanism of MAX2-mediated resistance,we evaluated the resistance of various SL and KAR signaling pathway mutants.The resistance of SL-deficient mutants and of dwarf 14(d14)was similar to that of the wild-type,whereas the resistance of the karrikin insensitive 2(kai2)mutant was compromised,demonstrating that the KAR signaling pathway,not the SL signaling pathway,positively regulates the immune response.We measured the resistance of smaxl and smxl mutants,as well as the double,triple,and quadruple mutants with max2,which revealed that both the smax1 mutant and smx16/7/8 triple mutant rescue the low resistance phenotype of max2 and that SMAX1 accumulation diminishes resistance.The susceptibility of smax1D,containing a degradation-insensitive form of SMAX1,further confirmed the SMAX1 function in the resistance.The relationship between the accumulation of SMAX1/SMXLs and disease resistance suggested that the inhibitory activity of SMAX1 to resistance requires SMXL6/7/8.Moreover,the exogenous application of KAR2 enhanced resistance against Pst,but KAR-induced resistance depended on salicylic acid(SA)signaling.Inhibition of karrikin signaling delayed SA-mediated defense responses and inhibited pathogen-induced protein biosynthesis.Together,we propose that the MAX2-KAI2-SMAX1 complex regulates resistance with the assistance of SMXL6/7/8 and SA signaling and that SMAX1/SMXLs possibly form a multimeric complex with their target transcription factors to fine tune immune responses. | Xiujuan Zheng Fangqian Liu Xianfeng Yang Weiqiang Li Sique Chen Xinwu Yue Qi Jia Xinli Sun | 2023 | Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2023,65,6: | 0 |
| 20 | Future research needs for environmental science in China显示文摘Environmental science is an interdisciplinary science developed in the process of understanding and solving ecolog-ical and environmental problems.In order to tackle these problems,environmental science research is expected to reveal the source,behavior,fate,exposure,and risks of pollutants in the environment and develop potential solutions to control pollution.It provides the scientific basis for decision-makers to establish environmental and economic poli-cies,and promote concerted efforts for the sustainable development of society.Here,we articulate the development patterns,challenges,and future research needs of environmental science in China based on literature review and expert panel discussion.Environmental science research has evolved significantly in the past decade with an increas-ing diversity of environmental pollutants and health impacts,new technologies and methods,deepening fusion of multiple disciplines,and emerging solutions for pollution control.Its future development relies on the advances in our knowledge on the fate and transport of pollutants,regional environmental processes,ecotoxicological effects,environmental exposure and health effects,environmental analysis and monitoring,source control and reduction,environmental remediation,as well as environmental risk management.For each of these fields,we summarize the significant challenges and highlight the research demands for China.Based on the status quo of China’s environmen-tal science research and future needs,we provide recommendations to promote its future development,including encouraging innovation and interdisciplinary research,providing decision support for national needs,encouraging international collaboration,and improving collaboration mechanisms. | Dongqiang Zhu Weiqiang Chen Xiaolei Qu Yuming Zheng Jun Bi Haidong Kan Yongming Luo Guangguo Ying Eddy Y.Zeng Fangjie Zhao Lingyan Zhu Yongguan Zhu Shu Tao | 2021 | Geography and Sustainability2021,2,3: | 0 |
