3Microstructure, mechanical properties and deformation mechanisms of an as-cast Mg–Zn–Y–Nd–Zr alloy for stent applications显示文摘A new Mg-2Zn-0.2Y -0.5N d-0.4Zr (wt%) alloy designed specially for stent applications has been developed. The as-cast alloy is featured with equiaxed grains with a mean size of about 40 μm and a small am ount of second phase (T phase) distributed discontinuously either at the grain boundaries or inside the grains. This alloy exhibits a tensile elongation of up to 35%, which is much larger than that of most reported other as-cast Mg alloys. The tensile deform ation mechanisms have also been investigated. 4Effect of spinal manipulation on degenerative scoliosis显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To investigate the effect of spinal manipulation(SM)on degenerative scoliosis by evaluating patients’visual analog scale(VAS)scores,Cobb angles,sagittal vertical axis(SVA),and apical vertebral rotation(AVR)and to explore factors that influence treatment effect.METHODS:A total of 55 patients with degenerative scoliosis received 4 weeks of SM.After treatment,patients were divided into two groups:the remission group(VAS score<40 mm)and the non-remission group(VAS score≥40 mm).Pre-versus post-treatment VAS scores,Cobb angles,SVA,and AVR were compared in each group and in the total population.Baseline data(sex,age,symptom characteristics,duration of symptoms,VAS score,Cobb angle,SVA,and AVR)were compared between groups.Factors influencing the post-treatment VAS score were explored with multiple linear regression analysis.RESULTS:No changes were found in the Cobb angle(P=0.722)or AVR(P=0.424)after intervention in the overall population.However,the SVA(P<0.001)and VAS score(P=0.000)changed significantly after treatment.Similar changes were observed in the remission group(n=29).Multiple linear regression revealed that the only factors influencing treatment effect were symptom characteristics,SVA,and VAS score.CONCLUSION:SM relieved pain and improved sagittal imbalance in patients with degenerative scoliosis.It did not lessen the severity of coronal curvature or vertebral rotation.Factors influencing the effect of SM included symptom characteristics,VAS score,and SVA.A larger randomized trial is needed to further confirm our results.Sun Wu Gao Jinghua Zhu Liguo Wang Baojian Xiao Wei Wang Zhenzhong Yang Kexin 2020Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2020,40,6:8
5Fabrication and characterization of biodegradable Mg-Zn-Y-Nd-Ag alloy:Microstructure,mechanical properties,corrosion behavior and antibacterial activities显示文摘Magnesium(Mg),a potential biodegradable material,has drawn wide attention in the bone reconstruction field.However,Mg alloys,served as the bone graft substitution,remain a clinical challenge,the antibacterial activity of which is required to be enhanced.Here,we prepared biodegradable magnesium Mg-Zn-Y-Nd-Ag and then had it been further densified by extruding.The microstructure evolution of the as-cast and as-extruded Mg-Zn-Y-Nd-Ag was characterized using optical microscope and X-ray diffraction analyses(XRD).The results showed that the microstructure of the as-cast alloys was mainly dendrites,between which,the second phase was mainly distributed;with the increase of Ag additions,grain structure was further refined as well as the increase of amount of the second phase.After the extrusion,the grains were further refined.Microhardness tests indicated that both of the increase of Ag content and the extrusion process improved the microhardness of the alloys,specially the later.A systematic investigation of the in vivo antibacterial capability of Staphylococcus aurous and Escherichia coli was performed,and the results of which indicated that all Mg-Zn-Y-N-xAg(x?0.2,0.4,0.6,0.8)alloys exhibited certain antibacterial property,which would increased with the increase of Ag content.Taken all together,the antimicrobial property of the as-extruded alloy containing 0.4 wt%Ag exhibited the relatively better antimicrobial properties and mechanical property with the relatively small loss in corrosion resistance,which suggested the potential utility of as-extruded Mg-Zn-Y-N-0.4Ag in treating orthopedic infections.Yashan Feng Shijie Zhu Liguo Wang Lei Chang Yachen Hou Shaokang Guan 2018Bioactive Materials2018,3,3:7
6Characterization and corrosion property of nano-rod-like HA on fluoride coating supported on Mg-Zn-Ca alloy×显示文摘The poor corrosion resistance of biodegradable magnesium alloys is the dominant factor that limits theirclinical application. In this study, to deal with this challenge, fluoride coating was prepared on MgeZneCa alloy as the inner coating and then hydroxyapatite (HA) coating as the outer coating was depositedon fluoride coating by pulse reverse current electrodeposition (PRC-HA/MgF2). As a comparative study,the microstructure and corrosion properties of the composite coating with the outer coating fabricatedby traditional constant current electrodeposition (TED-HA/MgF2) were also investigated. Scanningelectron microscopy (SEM) images of the coatings show that the morphology of PRC-HA/MgF2 coating isdense and uniform, and presents nano-rod-like structure. Compared with that of TED-HA/MgF2, thecorrosion current density of Mg alloy coated with PRC-HA/MgF2 coatings decreases from 5.72× 10^-5 A/cm2 to 4.32× 10^-7 A/cm^2, and the corrosion resistance increases by almost two orders of magnitude. Inimmersion tests, samples coated with PRC-HA/MgF2 coating always show the lowest hydrogen evolutionamount, and could induce deposition of the hexagonal structure-apatite on the surface rapidly. 8Catalytic oxidation of CO on mesoporous codoped ceria catalysts:Insights into correlation of physicochemical property and catalytic activity显示文摘Codoping approach is an appealing strategy to further improve the catalytic activity of Ce-based catalysts.In the present study,Mn and/or Cu doped ceria solid solutions MnxCuyCe1-x-yO2,CuxCe1-xO2,MnxCe1-xO2 and pure CeO2 were prepared by CTAB-assisted hydrothermal method for CO oxidation.XRD,SEM,EDS,BET,Raman,H2-TPR,XPS and in situ DRIFTS techniques were carried out to study the physicochemical properties and to correlate them to the activity.The doped samples maintain the cubic fluorite structure of CeO2 with high crystallinity and small crystallite size,forming Ce-based solid solutions.The obtained catalysts have large mesoporous structure with average pore size of 10-14 nm.The doped transition metal enhances the oxygen vacancies and improves reducibility of the solids.The synergistic interaction of Mn and Cu codoping induces mo re oxygen vacancies,pro moting the increase of surface adsorbed oxygen and the transfer of bulk oxygen of catalyst,thereby enhancing the catalytic activity for CO oxidation.Besides,the decomposition rate of the carbonate species which is derived from in situ DRIFTS for each catalyst can provide a measure to evaluate its catalytic activity of CO oxidation.Hongjian Zhu Yingying Chen Yibo Gao Wenxu Liu Zhongpeng Wang Chenchen Cui Wei Liu Liguo Wang 2019Journal of Rare Earths2019,37,9:5
9Microstructure and texture evolution of fine-grained Mg-Zn-Y-Nd alloy micro-tubes for biodegradable vascular stents processed by hot extrusion and rapid cooling显示文摘Magnesium alloys have narrow available slip result from close-packed hexagonal structure that limit their processing properties.In the recent work,the Mg-2Zn-0.46Y-0.5Nd,as materials for degradable stents,was applied to produce as-extruded micro-tube with an outer diameter of 3.0mm and a wall thickness of 0.35mm by hot extrusion with an extrusion ratio of 105:1 at 653K and rapid cooling.The fine microstructure of the dynamic recrystallization of as-extruded micro-tube could be preserved by rapid cooling such as water-cooled,resulting in more excellent mechanical properties relative to air-cooled micro-tube.The addition of rare earth elements Y and Nd results in continuous dynamic recrystallization dominated the dynamic recrystallization mechanism.During the hot extrusion process,the activation of the non-basal slip system,especially the pyramidal(c+a)slip,could significantly weaken the texture strength,and the as-extruded micro-tube exhibits weak'RE'texture components(011^(-)1)||ED and(1^(-)21^(-)1)||ED.Hence,the magnesium alloy micro-tube prepared by the rapid cooling has fine microstructure and weak texture,which is favorable for further process and governance.Kaikai Guo Mengyao Liu Jianfeng Wang Yufeng Sun Weiqing Li Shijie Zhu Liguo Wang Shaokang Guan 2020Journal of Magnesium and Alloys2020,8,3:3
10A two-step superplastic forging forming of semi-continuously cast AZ70 magnesium alloy显示文摘A two-step technology combined forging with superplastic forming has been developed to enhance the forgeability of semi-continuously cast AZ70 magnesium alloy and realize the application of the as-cast magnesium alloy in large deformation bullet shell.In the first step,fine-grained microstructure preforms that are suitable for superplastic forming were obtained by reasonably designing the size of the initial blanks with the specific height-to-diameter ratio,upsetting the blanks and subsequent annealing.In the second step,the heat treated preforms were forged into the end products at the superplastic conditions.The end products exhibit high quality surface and satisfied microstructure.Consequently,this forming technology that not only avoids complicating the material preparation but also utilizes higher strain rate superplastic provides a near net-shaped novel method on magnesium forging forming technology using as-cast billet.Pan Wang Shijie Zhu Liguo Wang Lihong Wu Shaokang Guan 2015Journal of Magnesium and Alloys2015,3,1:2
11HIV-1 can infect northern pig-tailed macaques(Macaca leonina) and form viral reservoirs in vivo显示文摘Viral reservoirs of HIV-1 are a major obstacle for curing AIDS. The novel animal models that can be directly infected with HIV-1 will contribute to develop effective strategies for eradicating infections.Here, we inoculated 4 northern pig-tailed macaques(NPM) with the HIV-1 strain HIV-1_(NL4.3) and monitored the infection for approximately 3 years(150 weeks). The HIV-1-infected NPMs showed transient viremia for about 10 weeks after infection. However, cell-associated proviral DNA and viral RNA persisted in the peripheral blood and lymphoid organs for about 3 years. Moreover, replication-competent HIV-1could be successfully recovered from peripheral blood mononuclear cells(PBMCs) during long-term infection. The numbers of resting CD4^+T cells in HIV-1 infected NPMs harboring proviruses fell within a range of 2-to 3-log_(10) per million cells, and these proviruses could be reactivated both ex vivo and in vivo in response to co-stimulation with the latency-reversing agents JQ1 and prostratin. 12Effect of rare earth and Mn elements on the corrosion behavior of extruded AZ61 system in 3.5 wt%NaCl solution and salt spray test显示文摘In this study,multiple addition of rare earth(RE)and manganese(Mn)to AZ61 was conducted aiming to find out the influence to corrosion resistance.AZ61 containing different amounts of RE and Mn was investigated by electrochemical measurement in condition of 3.5 wt%NaCl solution at 25°C.Gravimetric measurement was conducted in 5 wt%salt spray at 35°C and 3.5 wt%NaCl solution at 25°C.Samples were characterized by SEM,EDS,OM and XRD.The result shows that with RE addition Al8Mn5 in AZ61 changed into Al10RE2Mn7.The quantity ofβphase is reduced significantly.The multiple addition of RE and Mn improved the corrosion resistance of AZ61.When the ratio of Mn and RE is 0.3,alloy has the best property of corrosion resistance.In addition,the composite addition removed the impurity elements in AZ61 especially Fe.Shijie Zhu Zhidan Liu RuiXiao Qu LiGuo Wang Qingkui Li Shaokang Guan 2013Journal of Magnesium and Alloys2013,1,3:2
13Economic burden of inpatients with viral hepatitis B-related diseases and the influencing factors显示文摘Objective:The purpose of this study was to analyze the economic burden of inpatients with hepatitis B virus(HBV)-related diseases and the influencing factors so as to provide an effective basis for the development of health prevention and control strategies.Methods:The patients were selected by means of successive sampling in the period between August and December 2012 from those who were diagnosed with HBV-related diseases and hospitalized in countylevel medical institutions of Jiangsu Province.One hundred ninety-six patients were studied,including 3 patients with acute HBV,141 with chronic HBV,18 with compensatory cirrhosis,22 with decompensated cirrhosis,and 12 with liver cancer.This study adopted a questionnaire method to investigate and calculate the direct and indirect economic burden of the subjects according to disease economic burden theories and methods.Multiple linear stepwise regression was used for analysis of the influencing factors for economic burden of inpatients with HBV-related diseases.Results:The average economic burden for the 196 inpatients investigated was RMB 28,971.The direct economic burden was RMB 19,916(68.7%),including direct medical costs(RMB 19,087;95.8%)and direct non-medical costs(RMB 829;4.2%).The indirect economic burden was RMB 9055(31.3%),including patient-related expenses(RMB 6348;70.1%)and nursing expenses(RMB 2707;29.9%).According to the multiple linear stepwise regression analysis results,the hospital stay,proportion of medicine,age,and disease type affected the economic burden of the patients(P<0.05).Conclusion:Patients with HBV-related diseases undertake a heavy economic burden for hospitalization,especially the direct economic burden.Therefore,the inpatients’economic burden can be reduced by shortening the hospital stay,reducing the medical expenses reasonably,and delaying the progression of disease as far as possible according to medical standards.Hua Zhang Jianqian Chao Liguo Zhu Long Song Xiyan Li Pei Liu 2013Family Medicine and Community Health2013,1,4:2
14Booster Vaccination in Infancy Reduces the Incidence of Occult HBV Infection in Maternal HBsAg-positive Children显示文摘Background and Aims: Occult HBV infection (OBI) in chil-dren has proven to be associated with their immune re-sponse to hepatitis B vaccine (HepB). This study aimed to investigate the effect of a booster HepB on OBI, which is rarely investigated. Methods: This study enrolled 236 ma-ternal HBsAg-positive children who were followed up annu-ally until 8 years of age and were hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) negative. Of those 100 received a booster HepB be-tween 1 and 3 years of age (booster group), and 136 were never boosted (non-booster group). Serial follow-up data of children and baseline data of their mothers were collected and between-group differences were analyzed. Results: The incidence of OBI varied dynamically during follow-up, with 37.14% (78/210), 19.09% (42/220), 20.85% (44/211), 31.61% (61/193), 8.65% (18/208) and 12.71% (30/236) at 7 months, 1, 2, 3, 4, and 8 years of age. At 8 years of age, the negative conversion rate of HBV DNA in the booster group was significantly higher than that in non-booster group [57.89% (11/19) vs. 30.51% (18/59), p=0.032]. For chil-dren without OBI at 7 months old, the incidence of OBI in booster group was significantly lower than that in non-boost-er group [25.64% (10/39) vs. 67.74% (63/93), p<0.001]. 18Biofunctionalized composite scaffold to potentiate osteoconduction,angiogenesis,and favorable metabolic microenvironment for osteonecrosis therapy显示文摘Osteonecrosis is a common orthopedic disease in clinic,resulting in joint collapse if no appropriate treatment is performed in time.Core decompression is a general treatment modality for early osteonecrosis.However,effective bone regeneration in the necrotic area is still a significant challenge.This study developed a biofunctionalized composite scaffold(PLGA/nHA30VEGF)for osteonecrosis therapy through potentiation of osteoconduction,angiogenesis,and a favorable metabolic microenvironment.The composite scaffold had a porosity of 87.7%and compressive strength of 8.9 MPa.PLGA/nHA30VEGF had an average pore size of 227.6μm and a water contact angle of 56.5◦with a sustained release profile of vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF).After the implantation of PLGA/nHA30VEGF,various osteogenic and angiogenic biomarkers were upregulated by 2-9 fold compared with no treatment.Additionally,the metabolomic and lipidomic profiling studies demonstrated that PLGA/nHA30VEGF effectively regulated the multiple metabolites and more than 20 inordinate metabolic pathways in osteonecrosis.The excellent performances reveal that the biofunctionalized composite scaffold provides an advanced adjuvant therapy modality for osteonecrosis.Tongtong Zhu Mengyang Jiang Mingran Zhang Liguo Cui Xiaoyu Yang Xukai Wang Guangyao Liu Jianxun Ding Xuesi Chen 2022Bioactive Materials2022,7,3:1

20Fast Growth of Highly Ordered TiO2 Nanotube Arrays on Si Substrate under High-Field Anodization显示文摘Highly ordered TiO_2 nanotube arrays(NTAs) on Si substrate possess broad applications due to its high surfaceto-volume ratio and novel functionalities, however, there are still some challenges on facile synthesis. Here, we report a simple and cost-effective high-field(90–180V) anodization method to grow highly ordered TiO_2 NTAs on Si substrate,and investigate the effect of anodization time, voltage, and fluoride content on the formation of TiO_2 NTAs. The current density–time curves, recorded during anodization processes, can be used to determine the optimum anodization time. It is found that the growth rate of TiO_2 NTAs is improved significantly under high field, which is nearly 8 times faster than that under low fields(40–60 V).
