| 5 | Influence of average radii of RE3+ ions on phase structures and thermal expansion coefficients of high-entropy pyrosilicates显示文摘High-entropy pyrosilicate element selection is relatively blind, and the thermal expansion coefficient (CTE) of traditional β-type pyrosilicate is not adjustable, making it difficult to meet the requirements of various types of ceramic matrix composites (CMCs). The following study aimed to develop a universal rule for high-entropy pyrosilicate element selection and to achieve directional control of the thermal expansion coefficient of high-entropy pyrosilicate. The current study investigates a high-entropy design method for obtaining pyrosilicates with stable β-phase and γ-phase by introducing various rare-earth (RE) cations. The solid-phase method was used to create 12 different types of high-entropy pyrosilicates with 4–6 components. The high-entropy pyrosilicates gradually transformed from β-phase to γ-phase with an increase in the average radius of RE^(3+) ions ( r¯(RE^(3+))). The nine pyrosilicates with a small r¯(RE^(3+)) preserve β-phase or γ-phase stability at room temperature to the maximum of 1400 ℃. The intrinsic relationship between the thermal expansion coefficient, phase structure, and RE–O bond length has also been found. This study provides the theoretical background for designing high-entropy pyrosilicates from the perspective of r¯(RE^(3+)). The theoretical guidance makes it easier to synthesize high-entropy pyrosilicates with stable β-phase or γ-phase for the use in environmental barrier coatings (EBCs). | 6 | Altitudinal variation in life-history features of a Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau lizard显示文摘Environmental changes along an altitudinal gradient can facilitate the differentiation of life-history features in ectothermic species,but little attention has been devoted to the reciprocal influence of altitude and alpine slope directionality on life-history variation.According to life-history theory,increased environmental stress causes a change in reproductive allocation from number to quality of offspring,as well as a stronger trade-off between size and number of offspring.To clarify the influence of environmental pressures on the life-history features of the Qinghai toad-headed lizard Phrynocephalus vlangalii along an altitudinal cline,we surveyed late pregnant females from 3 populations of low(2,600 m),middle(3,400 m),and high(3,600 m)elevations in the Dangjin Mountain of Gansu,China from July to October 2019,and compared their inter-population differences in maternal body size,reproductive characteristics,offspring growth,and locomotor performance.Because of lower temperatures,higher humidity,and lower light intensity caused by slope aspect and altitude,the middle-altitude region experienced stronger environmental stress than the high-and low-altitude regions.Our results showed that females were larger at middle-and high-altitude sites and smaller at the low-altitude site,following Bergmann’s rule.We also found that females from low-altitude population gave birth earlier than those from the middle and high altitudes.Our results showed a shift in the offspring size-number trade-off of P.vlangalii in response to colder and harsher environments,with lizards from the alpine steppe(i.e.the middle-and high-altitude habitats)producing fewer but larger offspring than those from the warm steppe(i.e.the low-altitude habitat).Low-altitude juveniles grew faster than high-altitude ones,but at the same rates as middle-altitude juveniles.This result demonstrates that the growth of P.vlangalii was associated with temperature and light intensity.Our findings contribute to enhancing our understanding of the altitudinal variation in life-history features of plateau ectotherms and their phenotypic plasticity or local adaptation. | Wei Yu Zeyu Zhu Xiaolong Zhao Shuang Cui Zhensheng Liu Zhigao Zeng | 2023 | Current Zoology2023,69,3: | 0 |
| 7 | Water vapor corrosion behaviors of high-entropy pyrosilicates显示文摘In this study,the water vapor corrosion resistance of two types of high-entropy pyrosilicates((Yb_(0.2)Y_(0.2)Lu_(0.2)Ho_(0.2)Er_(0.2))_(2)Si_(2)O_(7)((5RE1/5)_(2)Si_(2)O_(7))and(Yb_(0.2)5Lu_(0.2)5Ho_(0.2)5Er_(0.2)5)_(2)Si_(2)O_(7)((4RE_(1/4))_(2)Si_(2)O_(7)))and two single-component pyrosilicates(Yb_(2)Si_(2)O_(7) and Lu_(2)Si_(2)O_(7))were evaluated at 1350℃ for 50e100 h,and the initial corrosion behaviors of these pyrosilicates were studied.The results showed that the final corrosion products of the four types of pyrosilicates were all X2-type monosilicates,exhibiting similar corrosion phenomena.However,(4RE_(1/4))_(2)Si_(2)O_(7) generated many nanoscale monosilicate grains during corrosion.The corrosion resistance of Lu_(2)Si_(2)O_(7) was clearly better than those of the others,and(4RE_(1/4))_(2)Si_(2)O_(7) exhibited the worst corrosion resistance.The corrosion mechanism of the pyrosilicate blocks was analyzed from the perspectives of grain size,bulk hydrophobicity,and binding energy.This study potentially provides a theoretical basis for the preparation of high-entropy pyrosilicates with different atomic ratios according to the different properties of the various rare earth elements. | Zeyu Chen Chucheng Lin Wei Zheng Caifen Jiang Yi Zeng Xuemei Song | 2022 | Journal of Materiomics2022,8,5: | 0 |
| 8 | B-PesNet: Smoothly Propagating Semantics for Robust and Reliable Multi-Scale Object Detection for Secure Systems显示文摘Multi-scale object detection is a research hotspot,and it has critical applications in many secure systems.Although the object detection algorithms have constantly been progressing recently,how to perform highly accurate and reliable multi-class object detection is still a challenging task due to the influence of many factors,such as the deformation and occlusion of the object in the actual scene.The more interference factors,the more complicated the semantic information,so we need a deeper network to extract deep information.However,deep neural networks often suffer from network degradation.To prevent the occurrence of degradation on deep neural networks,we put forth a new model using a newly-designed Pre-ReLU,which inserts a ReLU layer before the convolution layer for the sake of preventing network degradation and ensuring the performance of deep networks.This structure can transfer the semantic information more smoothly from the shallow to the deep layer.However,the deep networks will encounter not only degradation,but also a decline in efficiency.Therefore,to speed up the two-stage detector,we divide the feature map into many groups so as to diminish the number of parameters.Correspondingly,calculation speed has been enhanced,achieving a balance between speed and accuracy.Through mathematical demonstration,a Balanced Loss(BL)is proposed by a balance factor to decrease the weight of the negative sample during the training phase to balance the positives and negatives.Finally,our detector demonstrates rosy results in a range of experiments and gains an mAP of 73.38 on PASCAL VOC2007,which approaches the requirement of many security systems. | Yunbo Rao Hongyu Mu Zeyu Yang Weibin Zheng Faxin Wang Jiansu Pu Shaoning Zeng | 2022 | Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences2022,,9: | 0 |
| 9 | Effects of sediment characteristics on the sediment transport capacity of overland flow显示文摘The transport of sediments is a crucial part of soil erosion.Accurately calculating the sediment transport capacity is key to the construction of soil erosion process models.Research on Tc has focused mainly on the dynamics of a single particle of sediment and hydraulic variables.There have been few studies of the impact of soil aggregates on the Tc.To clarify how sediment characteristics,including those for single particles and aggregates,affect the Tc of overland flow with no raindrop import,flume experiments were implemented at slope gradients varying from 5.24%to 26.80%and flow discharges ranging from 0.68 to 5.41×10^(-3)m^(2)s^(-1).The experimental materials were five typical soils in China.The results indicated that the correlation between the measured Tc and sediment mechanical composition indexes of the five soils was indistinctive in this study.The sediment settling velocity with aggregates has a significant corre-lation with the measured Tc.New equations,including for the sediment settling velocity with aggregatesωud75,were established to calculate the Tc.The empirical equation that includedωud75,slope gradient and unit discharge performed greatly in predicting Tc(R^(2)=0.93,NSE=0.90).ωud75 can effectively improve the calculation accuracy of Tc.The new equation including flow and sediment properties obtained through dimensional analysis performed well in predicting Tc(R^(2)=0.99,NSE=0.91),and the calculation accuracy was better than that of the empirical model derived in this study.These findings indicate that the sediment settling velocity is an important variable in the equation for predicting sediment transport capacity of overland flow. | Chenguang Liu Suhua Fu Zhanbin Li Zeyu Zhang Jianhui Zeng | 2023 | International Soil and Water Conservation Research2023,11,1: | 0 |

| 11 | Factors Influencing Home Ranges of the Qinghai Toad-headed Lizard(Phrynocephalus vlangalii)on the Dangjin Mountain,Gansu显示文摘Home range is an important ecological parameter reflecting the suita bility of animal habitats.To study the size and factors influencing the home ranges of the Qinghai toad-headed lizard(Phr ynocephalus vlangalii)in different habitats,from July to September 2020,we radio-tagged and tracked 15 individuals in each of sites distributed at high(3600 m)and low(2600 m)altitudes on the Dangjin Mountain,Gansu Province,northwest China.We calculated home range size using the 100%minimum convex polygon method,and analyzed the influence of inherent lizard characteristics and external environmental factors.Our results revealed that for both high-and lowaltitude lizard populations,the sizes of home ranges were positively correlated with lizard body mass.Moreover,after eliminating the effect of body mass as a covariable,we established that the home ranges of high-altitude lizards(5255.1±1103.8 m^(2))were larger than those of the low-altitude lizards(2208.1±348.7 m^(2)).Lizards in the high-altitude population were also characterized by longer daily suitable activity times and spent significantly more time in full sunlight than those in the low-altitude population.Furthermore,the food resources for lizards in low-altitude habitats were more abundant than those in high-altitude habitats In conclusion,we established that P.vlangalii lizards inhabiting high-altitude sites had larger home ranges than conspecific lizards distributed at a lower altitude,which was associated not only with endogenous factors,such as body mass,but also with habitat-related environmental factors,such as the quality of thermal resources and availability of food. | Xiaolong ZHAO Wei YU Zeyu ZHU Yuxia YANG Zhigao ZENG | 2022 | Asian Herpetological Research2022,13,2: | 0 |

| 14 | Spontaneous hierarchical surface engineering of minerals through coupled dissolution-precipitation chemistry显示文摘Peculiar hierarchical microstructures in creatures inspire modern material design with distinct functionalities.Creatures can effortlessly construct sophisticated yet long-range ordered microstructure across bio-membrane through ion secretion and precipitation.However,microstructure biomimicry in current technology generally requires elaborate,point-by-point fabrication.Herein,a spontaneous yet controllable strategy is developed to achieve surface microstructure engineering through a natural surface phenomenon similar to ion secretion-precipitation,that is,coupled dissolution-precipitation.A series of hierarchical microstructures on mineral surfaces in fluids with tunable morphology,orientation,dimension,and spatial distribution are achieved by simply controlling initial dissolution and fluid chemistry.In seawater,long-range ordered film of vertically aligned brucite flakes forms through interfacial dissolution,nucleation,and confinement-induced orientation of flakes with vertically grown{110}plane,on the edge of which,fusiform aragonite epitaxially precipitates.With negligible initial surface dissolution,prismatic aragonite epitaxially grows on a calcite polyhedron-packed surface.By tuning fluid chemistry,closely packed calcite polyhedron and loosely packed calcite micro-pillars are engineered through rapid and retarded precipitation,respectively.Surprisingly,the spontaneously grown microstructures resemble those deliberately created by human or found in nature,and tremendously modulate surface functionality.These findings open new possibilities for facile and customizable engineering of microstructural surfaces,hierarchical heterostructures,and biomimetic materials. | Jinyang Jiang Jiawen Zhang Lanxin Wang Zeyu Lu Fengjuan Wang Zhiyong Liu Hongbo Zeng | 2024 | Aggregate2024,5,1: | 0 |
| 15 | Contact pattern,current immune barrier,and pathogen virulence determines the optimal strategy of further vaccination显示文摘Background:The current outbreak of novel coronavirus disease 2019 has caused a seriousdisease burden worldwide.Vaccines are an important factor to sustain the epidemic.Although with a relatively high-vaccination worldwide,the decay of vaccine efficacy andthe arising of new variants lead us to the challenge of maintaining a sufficient immunebarrier to protect the population.Method:A case-contact tracking data in Hunan,China,is used to estimate the contactpattern of cases for scenarios including school,workspace,etc,rather than ordinary susceptible population.Based on the estimated vaccine coverage and efficacy,a multi-groupvaccinated-exposed-presymptomatic-symptomatic-asymptomatic-removed model(VEFIAR)with 8 age groups,with each partitioned into 4 vaccination status groups isdeveloped.The optimal dose-wise vaccinating strategy is optimized based on the currentlyestimated immunity barrier of coverage and efficacy,using the greedy algorithm thatminimizes the cumulative cases,population size of hospitalization and fatality respectivelyin a certain future interval.Parameters of Delta and Omicron variants are used respectivelyin the optimization.Results:The estimated contact matrices of cases showed a concentration on middle ages,and has compatible magnitudes compared to estimations from contact surveys in otherstudies.The VEFIAR model is numerically stable.The optimal controled vaccination strategy requires immediate vaccination on the un-vaccinated high-contact population of age30e39 to reduce the cumulative cases,and is stable with different basic reproductionnumbers(R_(0)).As for minimizing hospitalization and fatality,the optimized strategy requires vaccination on the un-vaccinated of both aged 30e39 of high contact frequencyand the vulnerable older.Conclusion:The objective of reducing transmission requires vaccination in age groups ofthe highest contact frequency,with more priority for un-vaccinated than un-fully or fullyvaccinated.The objective of reducing total hospitalization and fatality requires not only toreduce transmission but also to protect the vulnerable older.The priority changes byvaccination progress.For any region,if the local contact pattern is available,then with thevaccination coverage,efficacy,and disease characteristics of relative risks in heterogeneouspopulations,the optimal dose-wise vaccinating process will be obtained and gives hintsfor decision-making. | Xiaohao Guo Ziyan Liu Shiting Yang Zeyu Zhao Yichao Guo Guzainuer Abudurusuli Shanlu Zhao Ge Zeng Shixiong Hu Kaiwei Luo Tianmu Chen | 2023 | Infectious Disease Modelling2023,8,1: | 0 |
