| 2 | The regulatory network mediated by circadian clock genes is related to heterosis in rice显示文摘Exploitation of heterosis in rice(Oryza sativa L.) has contributed greatly to global food security.In this study,we generated three sets of reciprocal F1 hybrids of indica and japonica subspecies to evaluate the relationship between yield heterosis and the circadian clock.There were no differences in trait performance or heterosis between the reciprocal hybrids,indicating no maternal effects on heterosis.The indica-indica and indica-japonica reciprocal F1 hybrids exhibited pronounced heterosis for chlorophyll and starch content in leaves and for grain yield/biomass.In contrast,the japonica-japonica F1 hybrids showed low heterosis.The three circadian clock genes investigated expressed in an above-high-parent pattern(AHP)at seedling stage in all the hybrids.The five genes downstream of the circadian clock,and involved in chlorophyll and starch metabolic pathways,were expressed in AHP in hybrids with strong better-parent heterosis(BPH).Similarly,three of these Research Arfive genes in the japonica-japonica F1 hybrids showing low BPH were expressed in positive overdominance,but the other two genes were expressed in additive or negative overdominance.These results indicated that the expression patterns of circadian clock genes and their downstream genes are associated with heterosis,which suggests that the circadian rhythm pathway may be related to heterosis in rice. | Guojing Shen Wei Hu Bo Zhang Yongzhong Xing | 2015 | Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2015,57,3: | 6 |
| 3 | Bone tissue regeneration:The role of finely tuned pore architecture of bioactive scaffolds before clinical translation显示文摘Spatial dimension of pores and interconnection in macroporous scaffolds is of particular importance in facilitating endogenous cell migration and bone tissue ingrowth.However,it is still a challenge to widely tune structure parameters of scaffolds by conventional methods because of inevitable pore geometrical deformation and poor pore interconnectivity.Here,the long-term in vivo biological performances of nonstoichiometric bioceramic scaffolds with different pore dimensions were assessed in critical-size femoral bone defect model.The 6%Mg-substituted wollastonite(CSi-Mg6)powders were prepared via wet-chemical precipitation and the scaffolds elaborately printed by ceramic stereolithography,displaying designed constant pore strut and tailorable pore height(200,320,450,600μm),were investigated thoroughly in the bone regeneration process.Together with detailed structural stability and mechanical properties were collaboratively outlined.BothμCT and histological analyses indicated that bone tissue ingrowth was retarded in 200μm scaffolds in the whole stage(2-16 weeks)but the 320μm scaffolds showed appreciable bone tissue in the center of porous constructs at 6-10 weeks and matured bone tissue were uniformly invaded in the whole pore networks at 16 weeks.Interestingly,the neo-tissue ingrowth was facilitated in the 450μm and 600μm scaffolds after 2 weeks and higher extent of bone regeneration and remodeling at the later stage.These new findings provide critical information on how engineered porous architecture impact bone regeneration in vivo.Simultaneously,this study shows important implications for optimizing the porous scaffolds design by advanced additive manufacture technique to match the clinical translation with high performance. | Ronghuan Wu Yifan Li Miaoda Shen Xianyan Yang Lei Zhang Xiurong Ke Guojing Yang Changyou Gao Zhongru Gou Sanzhong Xu | 2021 | Bioactive Materials2021,6,5: | 5 |
| 4 | 3D printing of Mg-substituted wollastonite reinforcing diopside porous bioceramics with enhanced mechanical and biological performances显示文摘Mechanical strength and its long-term stability of bioceramic scaffolds is still a problem to treat the osteonecrosis of the femoral head.Considering the long-term stability of diopside(DIO)ceramic but poor mechanical strength,we developed the DIO-based porous bioceramic composites via dilute magnesium substituted wollastonite reinforcing and three-dimensional(3D)printing.The experimental results showed that the secondary phase(i.e.10%magnesium substituting calcium silicate;CSM10)could readily improve the sintering property of the bioceramic composites(DIO/CSM10-x,x=0-30)with increasing the CSM10 content from 0%to 30%,and the presence of the CSM10 also improved the biomimetic apatite mineralization ability in the pore struts of the scaffolds.Furthermore,the flexible strength(12.5 -30 MPa)and compressive strength(14-37 MPa)of the 3D printed porous bioceramics remarkably increased with increasing CSM10 content,and the compressive strength of DIO/CSM10-30 showed a limited decay(from 37 MPa to 29 MPa)in the Tris buffer solution for a long time stage(8 weeks).These findings suggest that the new CSM10-reinforced diopside porous constructs possess excellent mechanical properties and can potentially be used to the clinic,especially for the treatment of osteonecrosis of the femoral head work as a bioceramic rod. | Dongshuang He Chen Zhuang Sanzhong Xu Xiurong Ke Xianyan Yang Lei Zhang Guojing Yang Xiaoyi Chen Xiaozhou Mou An Liu Zhongru Gou | 2016 | Bioactive Materials2016,1,1: | 5 |

| 6 | Effect of Ermiao Fang with Xixin(Herba Asari Mandshurici) on bone marrow stem cell directional homing to a focal zone in an osteoarthritis rat model显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effects of Ermiao Fang(EM) with medical guide Xixin(Herba Asari Mandshurici)(HAM) on bone marrow stem cell migration to a focal zone in osteoarthritis(OA) rats.METHODS: OA rats were induced by arthrectomy and assigned to sham-operated, model, EM, or EM plus HAM groups.All rats were injected with recombinant human granulocyte colony-stimulating factor 30μg·kg-1·d-1for7 days and treated with EMor EM plus HAM at 1.6 or 1.9 g·kg-1·d-1 for 3 or 6 weeks, respectively. Chondrocyte apoptosis and cartilage matrix components were tested by transferase-mediated deoxyuridine triphosphate-biotin nick end labeling assay and special staining. Levels of interleukin-1 beta(IL-1β) tumor necrosis factor alpha(TNF-α) nitric oxide(NO), and inducible nitric oxide synthase(iNOS) in serum were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay or radioimmunoassay. Matrix metalloproteinases(MMPs)-13,tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinases(TIMPs)-1,Bromodeoxyuridine(BrdU), cluster of differentiation 34(CD34), and stromal cell-derived factor 1(SDF-1) were measured by immunohistochemical assay.RESULTS:The EM and EM plus HAM groups had significantly less cartilage damage and synovium inflammation the model group. Moreover, the EM and EM plus HAM groups had less chondrocyte apoptosis and more proteoglycan and collagen content than the model group.The EM and EMplus HAM groups had obviously higher MMPs-13 and TIMPs-1 expression in the cartilage than the model group. Moreover, the two formula groups had less release of IL-1β, TNF-α, NO, and iNOS than model group. Importantly, the expressions of BrdU, CD34,and SDF-1 in cartilage were significantly higher in the EM and EM plus HAM-Medtreated rats than model group. | 7 | Extensive Inter-plant Protein Transfer between Cuscuta Parasites and Their Host Plants显示文摘Cuscuta species(dodders)are holoparasites that totally rely on host plants to survive.Although various mobile proteins have been identified to travel within a plant,whether and to what extent protein transfer between Cuscuta and host plants remain unclear.We found that hundreds to more than 1500 proteins were transferred between Cuscuta and the host plants Arabidopsis and soybean,and hundreds of interplant mobile proteins were even detected in the seeds of Cuscuta and the host soybean.Different hosts bridge-connected by dodder were also found to exchange hundreds of proteins.Quantitatively,the mobile proteins represent a few to more than 10%of the proteomes of foreign plants.Using Arabidopsis plants expressing different reporter proteins,we further showed that these reporter proteins could travel between plants and,importantly,retained their activity in the foreign plants.Comparative analysis between the interplant mobile proteins and mRNAs indicated that the majority of mobile proteins were not de novo synthesized from the translocated mRNAs,but bona fide mobile proteins.We propose that large-scale inter-plant protein translocation may play an important role in the interactions between host plants and dodder and even among the dodder bridge-connected hosts. | Nian Liu Guojing Shen Yuxing Xu Hui Liu Jingxiong Zhang Shalan Li Jing Li Cuiping Zhang Jinfeng Qi Lei Wang Jianqiang Wu | 2020 | Molecular Plant2020,13,4: | 3 |
| 8 | Current understanding of maize and rice defense against insect herbivores显示文摘Plants have sophisticated defense systems to fend off insect herbivores. How plants defend against herbivores in dicotyledonous plants, such as Arabidopsis and tobacco, have been relatively well studied,yet little is known about the defense responses in monocotyledons. Here, we review the current understanding of rice(Oryza sativa) and maize(Zea mays) defense against insects. In rice and maize,elicitors derived from insect herbivore oral secretions or oviposition fluids activate phytohormone signaling, and transcriptomic changes mediated mainly by transcription factors lead to accumulation of defense-related secondary metabolites. Direct defenses, such as trypsin protein inhibitors in rice and benzoxazinoids in maize, have anti-digestive or toxic effects on insect herbivores. Herbivory-induced plant volatiles, such as terpenes, are indirect defenses, which attract the natural enemies of herbivores. | 9 | Causes and statistical characteristics of bridge failures:A review显示文摘Bridge failure, which is generally associated with serious economic and life losses, is defined as the incapacity of a constructed bridge or its components to perform as specified in the design and construction requirements. This paper presents an overview of current researches on the typical characteristics and causes of bridge failures based on 10 former investigations. Principal causes can be divided into internal causes and external causes or natural factors and human factors. Design error, construction mistakes, hydraulic, collision, and overload are the top 5 leading causes of bridge failures, resulting in more than70% of the bridge failures. Causes of bridge failures are closely related to regional economy,structural type, type of use, material type, and service age. The failure rate is very high for steel bridges, which is inseparable from excessive emphasis on structure strength but lack of consideration on structure stability and fatigue in early years. Researchers need to strengthen their research on the stability and fatigue of steel bridges, as well as inspection and maintenance. Extreme loads such as flood, collision, and overload contribute to a large number of bridge failures because of the lack of extreme loads data and design theory defects. It is critical for such bridges to have sufficient redundancy and capacity protection measures to reduce the probability of bridge failure due to extreme loads. Previous statistical methods and classification methods for the characteristics and causes of bridge failures lack unified standards, and a more scientific method needs to be established. | 10 | Finite-element analysis for surface discharge on polyimide insulation in air at atmospheric pressure under pulsed electrical stress显示文摘A surface discharge non-equilibrium plasma model of air–polyimide under pulsed electrical stress is established, byconsidering the reaction of charged particles on the dielectric surface and the secondary electron emission caused by thecondition that high-energy particles bombard the material surface. The model defines the chemical reaction of air discharge byusing simplified set of reactions, which greatly reduces the complexity of the model. To avoid the negative value of particledensity in the process of solution, the logarithmic finite-element method is used to solve the model established, so as toimplement the dynamic simulation of the surface discharge process. Also, the temporal and spatial evolution of themicroparameters such as charge and electric field distribution during discharge are obtained, and the reliability of the model isverified by experiments in terms of discharge development pattern and surface charge accumulation. The pathological complete response (PCR) rates of neoadjuvant chemotherapy in TNBC were higher than other types of breast cancer with fluctuate data. Predictors to identify which subgroup TNBC was more likely to achieve PCR in neoadjuvant chemotherapy would give us some hints on how to improve outcomes of TNBC patients. The meta-analysis was conducted to contrast the prognostic function of some clinicopathological parameters in the PCR rates of neoadjuvant chemotherapy for TNBC. Methods: Studies were selected from the PubMed database. The relevant parameters to PCR rates in TNBC group were recorded. Review Manager and MIX were used to estimate prognostic function of some biological markers and clinicopathological parameters in PCR rates of TNBC. Results: The analysis included 6 studies with 723 patients, the aggregate PCR rate was 27.9% in TNBC group. The association of lymph nodes metastasis, Ki-67 expression, p53 expression and CK5/6 expression with PCR rate of TNBC was investigated in the analysis, and the odds ratios were 0.50, 9.87, 1.17 and 0.53 respectively. | 17 | Phosphorus-induced electronic structure reformation of hollow NiCo_(2)Se_(4) nanoneedle arrays enabling highly efficient and durable hydrogen evolution in all-pH media显示文摘With practical electrocatalytic hydrogen production frequently involving the splitting of water in various pH media,there is an urgent need but still a technical challenge to develop low-cost,highly active,and stable electrocatalysts for pH-universal hydrogen evolution reaction(HER).We report herein the adoption of a hydrothermal reaction combined with a post gas-phase doping strategy to fabricate P-doped NiCo_(2)Se_(4) hollow nanoneedle arrays on carbon fiber paper(i.e.,P-NiCo_(2)Se_(4)/CFP).Notably,the optimal arrays(P8.71-NiCo_(2)Se_(4)/CFP)can afford an outstanding pH-universal HER performance,with an overpotential as low as 33,57,and 69 mV at 10 mA·cm^(−2) and corresponding Tafel slopes down to 52,61,and 72 mV·dec^(−1) in acidic,alkaline,and neutral media,respectively,outperforming most state-of-the-art nonprecious catalysts and even the commercial Pt/C catalyst in both neutral and alkaline media at large current densities.Impressively,P_(8.71-)NiCo_(2)Se_(4)/CFP also displays good durability toward long-time stability testing in harsh acidic and alkaline electrolytes.Experimental and theoretical studies further reveal that the doping of P atoms into NiCo_(2)Se_(4) can simultaneously optimize its H*adsorption/desorption energy,water adsorption energy,and water dissociation energy by adjusting the local electronic states of various active sites,thus accelerating the rate-determining step of HER in different pH media to endow P-NiCo_(2)Se_(4) with an outstanding pH-universal HER performance.This work provides atomic-level insights into the roles of active sites in various electrolysis environments,thereby shedding new light on the rational design of highly efficient pH-universal nonprecious catalysts for HER and beyond. | Guojing Wang Yuzhuo Sun Yidan Zhao Yang Zhang Xiaohong Li Louzhen Fan Yunchao Li | 2022 | Nano Research2022,15,10: | 1 |
