2Changes in progenitors and differentiated epithelial cells of neonatal piglets显示文摘This study aimed to assess the changes of small intestinal morphology,progenitors,differentiated epithelial cells,and potential mechanisms in neonatal piglets.Hematoxylin and eosin staining of samples from 36 piglets suggested that dramatic changes were observed in the jejunum crypts depth and crypt fission index of neonatal piglets(P<0.001).The number of intestinal stem cells(ISC)tended to increase(P<0.10),and a decreased number of enteroendocrine cells appeared in the jejunal crypt on d 7(P<0.05).Furthermore,the mRNA expression of jejunal chromogranin A(ChgA)was down-regulated in d 7 piglets(P<0.05).There was an up-regulation of the adult ISC marker gene of SPARC related modular calcium binding 2(Smoc2),and Wnt/b-catenin target genes on d 7(P<0.05).These results were further verified in vitro enteroid culture experiments.A mass of hollow spheroids was cultured from the fetal intestine of 0-d-old piglets(P<0.001),whereas substantial organoids with budding and branching structures were cultured from the intestine of 7-d-old piglets(P<0.001).The difference was reflected by the organoid budding efficiency,crypt domains per organoid,and the surface area of the organoid.Furthermore,spheroids on d 0 had more Ki67-positive cells and enteroendocrine cells(P<0.05)and showed a decreasing trend in the ISC and goblet cells(P<0.10).Moreover,the mRNA expression of spheroids differed markedly from that of organoids,with low expression of intestinal differentiation gene(Lysozyme;P<0.05),epithelial-specific markers(Villin,E-cadherin;P<0.05),and adult ISC markers(leucine-rich repeat-containing G protein-coupled receptor 5[Lgr5],Smoc2;P<0.001),and upregulation of fetal marker(connexin 43[Cnx43];P<0.05).The mRNA expression of relevant genes was up-regulated,and involved in Wnt/b-catenin,epidermal growth factor(EGF),Notch,and bone morphogenetic protein(BMP)signaling on d 7 organoids(P<0.05).Spheroids displayed low differentiated phenotype and high proliferation,while organoids exhibited strong differentiation potential.These results indicated that the conversion from the fetal progenitors(spheroids)to adult ISC(normal organoids)might largely be responsible for the fast development of intestinal epithelial cells in neonatal piglets.Lanmei Yin Jun Li Yitong Zhang Qing Yang Cuiyan Yang Zhenfeng Yi Yuebang Yin Qiye Wang Jianzhong Li Nengshui Ding Zhigang Zhang Huansheng Yang Yulong Yin 2022Animal Nutrition2022,,1:3
3In-situ growth of MAX phase coatings on carbonised wood and their terahertz shielding properties显示文摘Electromagnetic interference(EMI)shielding materials have received considerable attention in recent years.The EMI shielding effectiveness(SE)of materials depends on not only their composition but also their microstructures.Among various microstructure prototypes,porous structures provide the advantages of low density and high terahertz wave absorption.In this study,by using carbonised wood(CW)as a template,1-mm-thick MAX@CW composites(Ti2AlC@CW,V2A1C@CW,and Cr2AlC@CW)with a porous structure were fabricated through the molten salt method.The MAX@CW composites led to the formation of a conductive network and multilayer interface,which resulted in improved EMI SE.The average EMI SE values of the three MAX@CW composites were>45 dB in the frequency of 0.6-1.6 THz.Among the composites,V2A1C@CW exhibited the highest average EMI SE of 55 dB.Jiaxuan HUANG Hujie WAN Mian LI Yiming ZHANG Jianfeng ZHU Xuelin LI Wenchao SHUI Yao LI Xiaomeng FAN Qiye WEN Xu XIAO Qing HUANG 2021Journal of Advanced Ceramics2021,10,6:2

5Enhanced performance of a fast GaAs-based terahertz modulator via surface passivation显示文摘Surface-modified semiconductors show enormous potential for opto-terahertz(THz)spatial modulation due to their enhanced modulation depth(MD)along with their inherent broad bandwidth.Taking full advantage of the surface modification,a performance-enhanced,all-optical,fast switchable THz modulator was achieved here based on the surface-passivated Ga As wafer.With a decreased surface recombination rate and prolonged carrier lifetime induced by passivation,S-passivated Ga As was demonstrated as a viable candidate to enhance THz modulation performance in MD,especially at low photodoping levels.Despite a degraded modulation rate owing to the longer carrier lifetime,this passivated Ga As modulator simultaneously realizes a fast modulation at a 69-MHz speed and as high an MD as ~94% in a spectral wideband of 0.2-1.2 THz.The results demonstrated a new strategy to alleviate the tradeoff between high MD and speed in contrast to bare surfaces or heterogeneous films/unusual geometry on semiconductors including Si,Ge,and GaAs.YULIAN HE YUANSHENG WANG QINGHUI YANG HUAIWU ZHANG QIYE WEN 2021Photonics Research2021,9,11:1

19Effect of Al_2O_3 Buffer Layers on the Properties of Sputtered VO_2 Thin Films显示文摘VO_2 thin films were grown on silicon substrates using Al_2O_3 thin films as the buffer layers. Compared with direct deposition on silicon, VO_2 thin films deposited on Al_2O_3 buffer layers experience a significant improvement in their microstructures and physical properties. By optimizing the growth conditions, the resistance of VO_2 thin films can change by four orders of magnitude with a reduced thermal hysteresis of 4 °C at the phase transition temperature. The electrically driven phase transformation was measured in Pt/Si/Al_2O_3/VO_2/Au heterostructures. The introduction of a buffer layer reduces the leakage current and Joule heating during electrically driven phase transitions.
