Biomedical polymers: synthesis, properties, and applications显示文摘Biomedical polymers have been extensively developed for promising applications in a lot of biomedical fields, such as therapeutic medicine delivery, disease detection and diagnosis, biosensing, regenerative medicine, and disease treatment. In this review, we summarize the most recent advances in the synthesis and application of biomedical polymers, and discuss the comprehensive understanding of their property-function relationship for corresponding biomedical applications. In particular, a few burgeoning bioactive polymers, such as peptide/biomembrane/microorganism/cell-based biomedical polymers, are also introduced and highlighted as the emerging biomaterials for cancer precision therapy. Furthermore, the foreseeable challenges and outlook of the development of more efficient, healthier and safer biomedical polymers are discussed. We wish this systemic and comprehensive review on highlighting frontier progress of biomedical polymers could inspire and promote new breakthrough in fundamental research and clinical translation. | Wei-Hai Chen Qi-Wen Chen Qian Chen Chunyan Cui Shun Duan Yongyuan Kang Yang Liu Yun Liu Wali Muhammad Shiqun Shao Chengqiang Tang Jinqiang Wang Lei Wang Meng-Hua Xiong Lichen Yin Kuo Zhang Zhanzhan Zhang Xu Zhen Jun Feng Changyou Gao Zhen Gu Chaoliang He Jian Ji Xiqun Jiang Wenguang Liu Zhuang Liu Huisheng Peng Youqing Shen Linqi Shi Xuemei Sun Hao Wang Jun Wang Haihua Xiao Fu-Jian Xu Zhiyuan Zhong Xian-Zheng Zhang Xuesi Chen | 2022 | Science China Chemistry2022,65,6: | 2
Calixarene-integrated nano-drug delivery system for tumortargeted delivery and tracking of anti-cancer drugsin vivo显示文摘Nano-drug delivery systems(nanoDDS)have been extensively investigated clinically to improve the therapeutic effect of anticancer drugs. However, the complicated synthesis during the preparation as well as the potential drug leakage during transportation has greatly limited their general application. In this work,a calixarene-integrated nanoDDS(CanD)that achieves tumor-targeted delivery and tracking of anti-cancer drugs in vivo is presented. The hypoxia-responsive calixarene(SAC4A)exhibits high binding affinity to a series of anti-cancer drugs and rhodamine B(RhB)under normoxic condition while decreasing the binding affinity under hypoxic condition, which leads to the drug release and fluorescence recovery simultaneously.Furthermore, the hypoxia-responsiveness of SAC4A conveys CanD with tumor-targeting ability, resulting in the enrichment of the drug in tumors and enhancement in tumor suppression in mice. Moreover,CanD could become a general platform allowing the delivery of a wide scope of anti-cancer drugs that have strong host-guest interaction with SAC4A. | Lina Xu Jingshan Chai Ying Wang Xinzhi Zhao Dong-Sheng Guo Linqi Shi Zhanzhan Zhang Yang Liu | 2022 | Nano Research2022,15,8: | 1

Neuroprotective Nanoscavenger Induces Coaggregation of β-Amyloid and Facilitates Its Clearance in Alzheimer’s Disease Brain显示文摘The accumulation of solubleβ-amyloid aggregates(sAβs)is one of the main culprits in Alzheimer’s disease(AD)progression, which can lead to synaptic dysfunction and subsequent neurodegeneration.Herein,we describe a nanoscavenger with novel structure that can cross the blood–brain barrier(BBB),accurately collect neurotoxic sAβs,and facilitate amounts ofβ-amyloid(Aβ)clearance. | Yu Zhao Yu Jiang Jingshan Chai Fan Huang Zhanzhan Zhang Qi Liu Zhuo Yang Yang Liu Linqi Shi | 2021 | CCS Chemistry2021,3,8: | 0
A Pregnant Woman Died of Sudden Cardiac Death:Should Esophageal Foreign Body Be Considered an Inductive Factor?A Case Report and Literature Review显示文摘Here,we report a case of acute attack of coronary heart disease(CHD).A 47‑year‑old pregnant woman with gestational hypertension developed sudden‑onset chest tightness, palpitations, dyspnea, and cyanosis of the face and lips after admission. Her blood pressure was 180/110 mmHg and her blood oxygen saturation was 45%at that time. After cardiopulmonary resuscitation,a weak heartbeat was restored, but oxygen saturation did not increase significantly. Therefore, she was transferred to the intensive care unit;however, she died after 21 days of admission.Autopsy findings revealed that a foreign body was embedded in the esophagus near the right piriform, and her heart weighed 392 g;histopathological examination revealed CHD,thrombosis in the lumen of the right coronary artery, cardiomyocyte hypertrophy, vascular hyaline degeneration in arterioles, neutrophils in the bronchiole and alveolar. All the tested samples yielded negative toxicological results.Clinical status and autopsy findings were not compatible with a diagnosis of peripartum cardiomyopathy. The patient’s sudden death was attributed to CHD,and esophageal foreign‑body impaction was considered to be concomitant phenomenon. Our findings might help in increasing the awareness between esophageal foreign‑body impaction and sudden cardiac death and they can also help in clarifying that understanding the primary cause of death is the key to resolving an iatrogenic medical tangle. | Chang Cao Mingming Li Zhanzhan Liu Shiyong Fang Gang Chen Guang Chen Tongjun Ma Xuyang Zhu Xiang Xu | 2022 | Journal of Forensic Science and Medicine2022,8,4: | 0
Accuracy of preoperative serum CA19-9 levels in predicting the resectability of patients with pancreatic adenocarcinoma显示文摘Objective To assess the accuracy of preoperative serum CA19-9 levels in predicting the resectability of pancreatic adenocarcinoma. Methods Patients with biopsy-proven pancreatic adenocarcinoma who had preoperative serum CA19-9 level data were enrolled in the present retrospective analysis. Receiver operating characteristics(ROC) curve analysis was used to determine the optimal cut-off value of CA19-9. The sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, and negative predictive value were calculated at this cut-off point. Results Seventy-six patients with pancreatic adenocarcinoma that was considered potentially resectable according to radiological imaging were included. Of all 76 patients, 44 received complete resection of the pancreatic adenocarcinoma. The preoperative serum CA19-9 level was significantly higher in the unresectable tumor group than in the resectable tumor group(P = 0.0036). The area under the ROC curve was 0.749(95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.637–0.842). When the cut-off value of CA19-9 was set to 359.1 U/m L, the sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative predictive values were 71.9%(95% CI: 53.3%–86.3%), 70.5%(95% CI: 54.8%–83.2%), 63.9%(95% CI: 46.0%–79.4%), and 77.5%(95% CI: 61.5%–89.2%), respectively. Conclusion The preoperative serum CA19-9 level is useful for predicting the resectability of pancreatic adenocarcinoma. | Ying Li Xiaojuan Yang Zhanzhan Zhang Xiaoning Kang Shanglong Liu | 2018 | Oncology and Translational Medicine2018,4,1: | 0
