5Simultaneous hepatic resection benefits patients with synchronous colorectal cancer liver metastases显示文摘Objective: The safety of the simultaneous resection of synchronous colorectal cancer liver metastases(SCRLM) is still being debated.However, this simultaneous operative approach is more commonly adopted at present than in the past.Therefore, we compared simultaneous hepatic resection with delayed hepatic resection in this study.Methods: All patients with SCRLM diagnosed before initial treatment between January 2009 and September 2013 were retrospectively included in our study.Short-term and long-term outcomes were compared in patients who underwent simultaneous colorectal and hepatic resection and those treated by delayed hepatectomy.Results: Among the 73 patients diagnosed with SCRLM, simultaneous colorectal and hepatic resection was performed in 60 patients(82.2%), while delayed hepatic resection was performed in 13 patients(17.8%).The mortality rate was zero.The postoperative complication rate after delayed resection was higher than, but not significantly different from, that after simultaneous resection(46% vs.23%, P=0.166).The duration of operating time(240 vs.420 min, P<0.05) and postoperative hospital stay time(11 vs.18 days, P<0.05) were shorter in the simultaneous resection group.After the initial treatments were given, the 1-, 2-, and 3-year survival rates in the simultaneous resection group were 77%, 59%, and 53%, respectively, whereas those in the delayed resection group were 67%, 42%, and 10%, respectively.The 5-year survival rate in the simultaneous resection group was 23%; overall survival differed significantly between the two groups(P=0.037).Median disease-free survival(DFS) times were 19.1 months in the simultaneous resection group and 8.8 months in the delayed resection group.DFS differed significantly between the two groups.Conclusions: Simultaneous colorectal and hepatic resection is safe and exhibits advantages in the longtime survival of patients.Yuan Li Xinyu Bi Jianjun Zhao Zhen Huang Jianguo Zhou Zhiyu Li Yefan Zhang Hong Zhao Jianqiang Cai 2016Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2016,28,5:7
6OpenKG Chain:A Blockchain Infrastructure for Open Knowledge Graphs显示文摘The early concept of knowledge graph originates from the idea of the semantic Web,which aims at using structured graphs to model the knowledge of the world and record the relationships that exist between things.Currently publishing knowledge bases as open data on the Web has gained significant attention.In China,Chinese Information Processing Society of China(CIPS)launched the OpenKG in 2015 to foster the development of Chinese Open Knowledge Graphs.Unlike existing open knowledge-based programs,OpenKG chain is envisioned as a blockchain-based open knowledge infrastructure.This article introduces the first attempt at the implementation of sharing knowledge graphs on OpenKG chain,a blockchain-based trust network.We have completed the test of the underlying blockchain platform,and the on-chain test of OpenKG’s data set and tool set sharing as well as fine-grained knowledge crowdsourcing at the triple level.We have also proposed novel definitions:K-Point and OpenKG Token,which can be considered to be a measurement of knowledge value and user value.1,033 knowledge contributors have been involved in two months of testing on the blockchain,and the cumulative number of on-chain recordings triggered by real knowledge consumers has reached 550,000 with an average daily peak value of more than 10,000.For the first time,we have tested and realized on-chain sharing of knowledge at entity/triple granularity level.At present,all operations on the data sets and tool sets at OpenKG.CN,as well as the triplets at OpenBase,are recorded on the chain,and corresponding value will also be generated and assigned in a trusted mode.Via this effort,OpenKG chain looks forward to providing a more credible and traceable knowledge-sharing platform for the knowledge graph community.Huajun Chen Ning Hu Guilin Qi Haofen Wang Zhen Bi Jie Li Fan Yang 2021Data Intelligence2021,3,2:7
7Resistance Level and Metabolism of Barnyard-Grass (Echinochloa crusgalli(L.) Beauv.) Populations to Quizalofop-p-ethyl in Heilongjiang Province,China显示文摘Eleven barnyardgrass populations were assayed. The highest resistant population was Geqiushan R with RI 125.45 resulted from the seed assay and 87.29 resulted from the whole plant bioassay followed by 853 R with RI 2.79 resulted from the seed assay and 6.04 resulted from the whole plant bioassay. The resistance level of other nine populations was low with RI 1.13-2.61 resulted from the seed assay and 1.48-3.63 resulted from the whole plant bioassay. The activity of an important metabolic enzyme glutathione S-transferases (GSTs) and three protective enzymes (SOD, POD, and CAT) were determined in vivo for Geqiushan R, 853 R, and Wudalianchi R. 9A Systematic Assessment of Blood Lead Level in Children and Associated Risk Factors in China显示文摘In this study, we searched multiple databases for all relevant original articles (1996-2013). To investigate blood lead levels (BLL) and possible risk factors for lead exposure among children in China A total of 388 articles met our inclusion criteria. The overall geometric mean (GM) BLL was 71 IJ.g/L, and the prevalence of elevated BLL (EBLL, defined as BLL 〉_100 Ixg/L) was l&.4&% among children. The prevalence of EBLL remained significantly higher among boys. In children less than 6 years of age, there were significantly increasing trends in both BLL and prevalence of EBLL in an age-dependent manner. The ban on leaded gasoline significantly reduced the BLL as well as EBLL prevalence; however, children whose parents had lower educational levels or were exposed to lead in the workplace had a higher EBLL prevalence. Despite its decline over time, the average BLL among children in China remains higher than the average level most recently reported in the United States. 10A new strategy for obtaining highly concentrated phosphorus recovery solution in biofilm phosphorus recovery process显示文摘Recovery of phosphorus(P)from wastewater is of great significance for alleviating the shortage of P resources.At present,the P recovery process is faced with the problem of excessive organic carbon consumption when obtaining a P-concentrated recovery solution.This study proposed a new strategy to obtain a more highly concentrated P recovery solution with minimal carbon consumption by strengthening the P storage capacity of the biofilm.A biofilm sequencing batch reactor(BSBR)process was modified to treat synthetic wastewater.The effect of the dissolved oxygen(DO)concentration on the P storage capacity of the biofilm was investigated at DO concentrations of DO 3.5 mg/L(P_(L))and DO 6.5 mg/L(P_(H)).The results showed a maximum P storage of 101.2 and 149.6 mg-P/g-mixed liquid suspended solids under the two conditions.Strengthening the P storage capacity of the biofilm resulted in a net increase in the P recovery rate,which was as high as 66.96%in a harvesting cycle,and total soluble P>220 mg/L in the P recovery solution was successfully achieved.Meanwhile,the carbon cost of P recovery in the BSBR was reduced to 41.57 g-chemical oxygen demand/gP,and the carbon utilization efficiency was enhanced.To highlight the new strategy,the P recovery performance of the BSBR was given and the relationship between P content and anaerobic P release was discussed.In addition,the changes in the microbial communities under P_(L) and P_(H) conditions were analyzed.Wanjing Yang Jie Shan Yang Pan Zhen Bi Yong Huang Hao Zhang Min Ni 2022Journal of Environmental Sciences2022,34,2:6
11Clinicopathological features and surgical outcomes of four rare subtypes of primary liver carcinoma显示文摘Objective:This study aimed to analyze clinicopathological and prognostic features of four rare pathological subtypes of primary liver malignancies to make better understanding of their clinical features.Methods:The clinicopathological data of 114 patients who were diagnosed with histologically proven four subtypes:clear cell carcinoma(CCC),giant cell carcinoma(GCC),sarcomatoid carcinoma(SC),and combined hepatocellular-cholangiocarcinoma(CHC)between October 1998 and August 2015 were reviewed.Their survival data were compared with those of 908 patients with histologically proven common hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)(early-and advanced-stage HCC)during the same period.Results:The outcome of the CCC group was better than that of the other three subgroups,and was similar to that of the early-stage HCC group.Also,the smallest tumor size and the highest incidence of pseudocapsule formation were observed in the CCC group.The SC group had the worst outcome among these four subgroups;the prognosis was much poorer than that of any other subgroups,even poorer than that of the advanced-stage common HCC group.No statistical difference was observed between the GCC,CHC and advanced-stage HCC groups on survival analysis.The incidences of tumor vascular emboli,TNM staging and non-radical resection were three risk factors of the prognosis.Conclusions:CCC is a low-degree malignancy and relatively favorably prognostic subtype of HCC.However,GCC,SC,and CHC are three rare high-degree malignancy subtypes of HCC with poor prognosis.Zhiyu Li Xiaolong Wu Xinyu Bi Yefan Zhang Zhen Huang Haizhen Lu Hong Zhao Jianjun Zhao Jianguo Zhou Muxing Li Jianming Ying Jianqiang Cai 2018Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2018,30,3:6

13Development of A Super-Sensitive Diagnostic Method for African Swine Fever Using CRISPR Techniques显示文摘African swine fever(ASF)is an infectious disease caused by African swine fever virus(ASFV)with clinical symptoms of high fever,hemorrhages and high mortality rate,posing a threat to the global swine industry and food security.Quarantine and control of ASFV is crucial for preventing swine industry from ASFV infection.In this study,a recombinase polymerase amplification(RPA)-CRISPR-based nucleic acid detection method was developed for diagnosing ASF.As a highly sensitive method,RPA-CRISPR can detect even a single copy of ASFV plasmid and genomic DNA by determining fluorescence signal induced by collateral cleavage of CRISPR-lw Cas13 a(previously known as C2c2)through quantitative real-time PCR(q PCR)and has the same or even higher sensitivity than the traditional q PCR method.A lateral flow strip was developed and used in combination with RPA-CRISPR for ASFV detection with the same level of sensitivity of Taq Man q PCR.Likewise,RPA-CRISPR is capable of distinguishing ASFV genomic DNA from viral DNA/RNA of other porcine viruses without any cross-reactivity.This diagnostic method is also available for diagnosing ASFV clinical DNA samples with coincidence rate of 100%for both ASFV positive and negative samples.RPA-CRISPR has great potential for clinical quarantine of ASFV in swine industry and food security.Meishen Ren Hong Mei Ming Zhou Zhen F.Fu Heyou Han Dingren Bi Fuhu Peng Ling Zhao 2021Virologica Sinica2021,36,2:5

16Neoadjuvant radiotherapy for resectable hepatocellular carcinoma with portal vein tumor thrombus:a systematic review显示文摘Background:The prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)with portal vein tumor thrombus(PVTT)is extremely poor.The clinical outcome of preoperative radiotherapy(RT)is still controversial.This study aimed to compare the clinical outcomes of combined neoadjuvant RT and hepatectomy with hepatectomy alone for HCC with PVTT.Methods:Comprehensive database searches were performed in PubMed,the Cochrane Library,EMBASE,and the Web of Science to retrieve studies published from the database creation to July 1,2020.Only comparative studies that measured survival between neoadjuvant RT followed by hepatectomy and hepatectomy alone were included.The characteristics of the included studies and patients were extracted,and the included data are presented as relative ratio(RR)estimates with 95%confidence intervals(CIs)for all outcomes.The RRs of each study were pooled using a fixed or random effects model with Review Manager(the Cochrane Collaboration,Oxford,UK)version 5.3.The response rate to RT and the overall survival(OS)rate in neoadjuvant RT followed by hepatectomy and hepatectomy alone were measured.Results:One randomized and two non-randomized controlled trials with 302 patients were included.Most patients were classified as Child-Pugh A,and Type II and III PVTT were the most common types.After RT,29(22.8%)patients were evaluated as partial response(PR)and had a positive RT response,but nine(7.1%)had progressive disease(PD).Neoadjuvant RT followed by hepatectomy was received by 127(42.1%)patients after excluding 15(5.0%)patients with severe complications or PD after RT,and 160(53.0%)patients received hepatectomy alone.In the randomized controlled trial(RCT),the 1-year OS rate in the neoadjuvant RT group and the surgery alone group was 75.2%and 43.1%,respectively(P<0.001).In the two non-randomized studies,a meta-analysis with a fixed effects model showed a longer OS in patients undergoing neoadjuvant RT followed by hepatectomy compared with hepatectomy alone at 1-year follow-up(RR=2.02;95%CI:1.45-2.80;P<0.0001).Conclusions:This systematic review showed that neoadjuvant RT followed by hepatectomy in patients with resectable HCC and PVTT was associated with a longer OS than patients who received hepatectomy alone.Zhewen Wei Jianjun Zhao Xinyu Bi Yefan Zhang Jianguo Zhou Zhiyu Li Zhen Huang Hong Zhao Jianqiang Cai 2022Hepatobiliary Surgery and Nutrition2022,11,5:4
17LIN28 coordinately promotes nucleolar/ribosomal functions and represses the 2C-like transcriptional program in pluripotent stem cells显示文摘LIN28 is an RNA binding protein with important roles in early embryo development,stem cell differentiation/re-programming,tumorigenesis and metabolism.Previous studies have focused mainly on its role in the cytosol where it interacts with Let-7 microRNA precursors or mRNAs,and few have addressed LIN28's role within the nucleus.Here,we show that LIN28 displays dynamic temporal and spatial expression during murine embryo development.Maternal LIN28 expression drops upon exit from the 2-cell stage,and zygotic LIN28 protein is induced at the forming nucleolus during 4-cell to blas-tocyst stage development,to become dominantly expressed in the cytosol after implantation.In cultured pluripotent stem cells(PSCs),loss of LIN28 led to nucleolar stress and activation of a 2-cell/4-cell-like transcriptional program characterized by the expression of endogenous retrovirus genes.Mechanistically,LIN28 binds to small nucleolar RNAs and rRNA to maintain nucleolar integrity,and its loss leads to nucleolar phase separation defects,ribosomal stress and activation of P53 which in turn binds to and activates 2C transcription factor Dux.LIN28 also resides in a complex containing the nucleolar factor Nucleolin(NCL)and the transcrip-tional repressor TRIM28,and LIN28 loss leads to reduced occupancy of the NCL/TRIM28 complex on the Dux and rDNA loci,and thus de-repressed Dux and reduced rRNA expression.Lin28 knockout cells with nucleolar stress are more likely to assume a slowly cycling,translationally inert and anabolically inactive state,which is a part of previously unappreciated 2C-like transcriptional program.These findings elucidate novel roles for nucleolar LIN28 in PSCs,and a new mechanism linking 2C program and nucleolar functions in PSCs and early embryo development.Zhen Sun Hua Yu Jing Zhao Tianyu Tan Hongru Pan Yuqing Zhu Lang Chen Cheng Zhang Li Zhang Anhua Lei Yuyan Xu Xianju Bi Xin Huang Bo Gao Longfei Wang Cristina Correia Ming Chen Qiming Sun Yu Feng Li Shen Hao Wu Jianlong Wang Xiaohua Shen George Q.Daley Hu Li Jin Zhang 2022Protein & Cell2022,13,7:4

19Biosynthesis of Unsaturated Fatty Acids via Mortierella Isabellina Cultivated in a Medium Containing Butanol显示文摘Mortierella isabellina was found to accumulate large amounts of unsaturated fatty acids when it was grown in a medium containing butanol(5 g/L) and yeast extract(10 g/L) and cultivated at 25 ℃ for 5 d during which additional feeding butanol of 2 g/L was fed after being cultivated for 48 h . The resultant mycelial lipids accounted for 40 1% of the dry mycelia, while about 34% of butanol in the medium was converted. The mycelial lipids contained four kinds of unsaturated fatty acids, i.e ., palmitoleic(4 9%), oleic(54 1%), linoleic(10 4%) and linolenic(5 4%) acids. Those accounted for 74 8% of the total fatty acids.
