| 1 | Size distribution of chemical elements and their source apportionment in ambient coarse, fine, and ultrafine particles in Shanghai urban summer atmosphere显示文摘Ambient coarse particles (diameter 1.8-10 μm), fine particles (diameter 0.1-1.8 μm), and ultrafine particles (diameter < 0.1 μm) in the atmosphere of the city of Shanghai were sampled during the summer of 2008 (from Aug 27 to Sep 08). Microscopic characterization of the particles was investigated by scanning electron microscopy coupled with energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM/EDX). Mass concentrations of Si, P, S, Cl, K, Ca, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Ni, Cu, Zn, As, Se, Br, Rb, Sr, and Pb in the size-resolved particles were quantified by using synchrotron radiation X-ray fluorescence (SRXRF). Source apportionment of the chemical elements was analyzed by means of an enrichment factor method. Our results showed that the average mass concentrations of coarse particles, fine particles and ultrafine particles in the summer air were 9.38 ± 2.18, 8.82 ± 3.52, and 2.02 ± 0.41 μg/m3, respectively. The mass percentage of the fine particles accounted for 51.47% in the total mass of PM10, indicating that fine particles are the major component in the Shanghai ambient particles. SEM/EDX results showed that the coarse particles were dominated by minerals, fine particles by soot aggregates and fly ashes, and ultrafine particles by soot particles and unidentified particles. SRXRF results demonstrated that crustal elements were mainly distributed in the coarse particles, while heavy metals were in higher proportions in the fine particles. Source apportionment revealed that Si, K, Ca, Fe, Mn, Rb, and Sr were from crustal sources, and S, Cl, Cu, Zn, As, Se, Br, and Pb from anthropogenic sources. | 11 | Automatic texture exemplar extraction based on global and local textureness measures显示文摘Texture synthesis is widely used for modeling the appearance of virtual objects. However,traditional texture synthesis techniques emphasize creation of optimal target textures, and pay insufficient attention to choice of suitable input texture exemplars.Currently, obtaining texture exemplars from natural images is a labor intensive task for the artists,requiring careful photography and significant postprocessing. In this paper, we present an automatic texture exemplar extraction method based on global and local textureness measures. To improve the efficiency of dominant texture identification, we first perform Poisson disk sampling to randomly and uniformly crop patches from a natural image. For global textureness assessment, we use a GIST descriptor to distinguish textured patches from non-textured patches,in conjunction with SVM prediction. To identify real texture exemplars consisting solely of the dominant texture, we further measure the local textureness of a patch by extracting and matching the local structure(using binary Gabor pattern(BGP)) and dominant color features(using color histograms) between a patch and its sub-regions. Finally, we obtain optimal texture exemplars by scoring and ranking extracted patches using these global and local textureness measures.We evaluate our method on a variety of images with different kinds of textures. | 14 | Peak-Shaving of the Oxy-Fuel Power Plant Coupled with Liquid O_(2)Storage显示文摘Integrating a high proportion of intermittent renewable energy provides a solution for the higher peak-shaving capacity of coal-fired power plants.Oxy-fuel combustion is one of the most promising carbon reduction technologies for coal-fired power plants.This study has proposed a novel oxy-fuel power plant that is coupled with both liquid O_(2)storage and cold energy recovery systems in order to adapt to the peak-shaving requirements.The liquid O_(2)storage system uses cheap valley electricity to produce liquid O_(2)for a later use in the peak period to enhance the peak-shaving capacity.Meanwhile,the cold energy recovery system has been introduced to recover the physical latent energy during the phase change of liquid O_(2)to increase the power generation in the peak period.Technical economies of three power plants,i.e.a 330 MW(e)oxy-fuel power plant as reference(Case 1),the same power plant coupled with only liquid O_(2)storage system(Case 2),and the same power plant coupled with both liquid O_(2)storage and cold energy recovery systems(Case 3),have been analyzed and compared.Thermodynamic performance analysis indicates that the peaking capacity of Case 3 can reach the range of 106.03 to 294.22 MW(e),and the maximum peak-shaving coefficient can be as high as 2.77.Exergy analysis demonstrates that the gross exergy efficiency of Cases 2 and 3 reaches 32.18%and 33.57%,respectively,in the peak period,which are significantly higher than that of 26.70%in Case 1.Economic analysis shows that through selling the liquid O_(2)and liquid CO_(2),combined with carbon trading,the levelized cost of electricity(LCOE)of the three cases have been greatly reduced,with the lowest one of 30.90 USD/MWh shown in Case 3.For a comprehensive consideration,Case 3 can be considered a future reference of oxy-fuel power plant with the best thermodynamic and economic performance. | FU Xuchen WU Jianwen SUN Zhenkun DUAN Yuanqiang GAO Zhengping DUAN Lunbo | 2023 | Journal of Thermal Science2023,32,5: | 0 |

| 20 | Enhancement of oligodendrocyte autophagy alleviates white matter injury and cognitive impairment induced by chronic cerebral hypoperfusion in rats显示文摘Cognitive impairment caused by chronic cerebral hypoperfusion(CCH)is associated with white matter injury(WMI),possibly through the alteration of autophagy.Here,the autophagy—lysosomal pathway(ALP)dysfunction in white matter(WM)and its relationship with cognitive impairment were investigated in rats subjected to two vessel occlusion(2VO).The results showed that cognitive impairment occurred by the 28th day after 2VO.Injury and autophagy activation of mature oligodendrocytes and neuronal axons sequentially occurred in WM by the 3rd day.By the 14th day,abnormal accumulation of autophagy substrate,lysosomal dysfunction,and the activation of mechanistic target of rapamycin(MTOR)pathway were observed in WM,paralleled with mature oligodendrocyte death.This indicates autophagy activation was followed by ALP dysfunction caused by autophagy inhibition or lysosomal dysfunction.To target the ALP dysfunction,enhanced autophagy by systemic rapamycin treatment or overexpression of Beclin1(BECN1)in oligodendrocytes reduced mature oligodendrocyte death,and subsequently alleviated the WMI and cognitive impairment after CCH.These results reveal that early autophagy activation was followed by ALP dysfunction in WM after 2VO,which was associated with the aggravation of WMI and cognitive impairment.This study highlights that alleviating ALP dysfunction by enhancing oligodendrocyte autophagy has benefits for cognitive recovery after CCH. | Huiyang Wang Yueyang Liu Zhenkun Guo Minghui Cui Peng Pang Jingyu Yang Chunfu Wu | 2023 | Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2023,13,5: | 0 |
