1Preparation of Li-B Alloy and Study of Its Microstructure and Discharge Characteristics显示文摘A Li-B alloy has been prepared using a pretreated amorphous B powder and pure Li ingot as starting materials by continually slow addition of B powder and intensified stirring in the process of melting. The microstructure and the discharge characteristic of the materials have been investigated. Results show that the problem of temperature control in synthesis would be modified by means of continual addition of B powder, the Li7B6 would be more finely distributed in the metal Li by means of intensified Stirring. 2Effects of Accelerated Aging on Physiological and Biochemical Characteristics of Waxy and Non-waxy Wheat Seeds显示文摘Experiments were conducted to evaluate the physiological and the biochemical characteristics of waxy wheat seeds under accelerated aging conditions. Five waxy wheat lines, which were Waxy 1, Waxy 4, Waxy 8, Waxy 9, and Waxy 15; and five non-waxy wheat lines: S-39, 04J89, Jan-81, Ⅲ42-4, and Ⅲ10 were studied. The seeds were subjected to accelerated aging at 40℃, 45℃, 50℃, 55℃, and 60℃, and 90% relative humidity for 0, 2, 4, 6, and 8 days, respectively. The results showed a gradual increase in conductivity and decrease in germination rate during accelerated aging. SOD, POD and CAT activities increased at low-grade treatment, but decreased at severe treatment. On the other hand, the soluble protein content decreased at 45℃, but successively increased, then decreased 50℃. 3Dynamically reconfigurable topological edge state in phase change photonic crystals显示文摘The observation of topological edge states(TESs) revolutionized our understanding of scattering and propagation of electromagnetic(EM) waves. Supported by topological robustness, the TES at the interface between trivial and non-trivial insulators was not reflected from the structural disorders and imperfections. Recently topological photonic crystals(PhCs) were demonstrated to obtain remarkable one-way propagation of the TES, having the advantages of lossless propagation, dense integration, and high fabrication tolerance over conventional PhCs. Nevertheless, the lack of reversible switching of TES possesses significant limitations in helicity/spin filtering and tunable photonic devices. We proposed a topological PhC based on a prototypical phase-change material, Ge2 Sb2 Te5(GST225) to solve the problem. We find that at a particular frequency, the TES within the structure can be reversibly switched between 'on'and 'off' by transiting the GST225 structural state between amorphous and crystalline. Moreover, the topology of the PhC was maintained since the tuning of TES was achieved by varying the refractive index of GST225 instead of the structural geometry. This provides a continuous change of the spectral position of the photonic bandgap and TES by gradually crystallising the GST225. We show that the phase change of GST225 from amorphous to crystalline and vice versa can be engineered in nanoseconds. Our proof of concept may offer a platform for dynamically tuning the TESs that might otherwise be challenging to attain in photonic systems. 4A deep learning-integrated micro-CT image analysis pipeline for quantifying rice lodging resistance-related traits显示文摘Lodging is a common problemin rice,reducing its yield andmechanical harvesting efficiency.Rice architecture is a key aspect of its domestication and a major factor that limits its high productivity.The ideal rice culm structure,includingmajor_axis_culm,minor axis_culm,andwall thickness_culm,is critical for improving lodging resistance.However,the traditionalmethod ofmeasuring rice culms is destructive,time consuming,and labor intensive.In this study,we used a high-throughput micro-CT-RGB imaging system and deep learning(SegNet)todevelopa high-throughputmicro-CTimageanalysis pipelinethatcanextract 24 riceculmmorphological traits and lodging resistance-related traits.When manual and automatic measurements were compared at themature stage,the mean absolute percentage errors for major_axis_culm,minor_axis_culm,andwall_thickness_culmin 104 indica rice accessionswere 6.03%,5.60%,and 9.85%,respectively,and the R^(2) valueswere 0.799,0.818,and 0.623.We also builtmodels of bending stress using culmtraits at the mature and tillering stages,and the R^(2) values were 0.722 and 0.544,respectively.The modeling results indicated that this method can quantify lodging resistance nondestructively,even at an early growth stage.In addition,we also evaluated the relationships of bending stress toshoot dryweight,culm density,and drought-related traits and found that plants with greater resistance to bending stress had slightly higher biomass,culm density,and culm area but poorer drought resistance.In conclusion,we developed a deep learning-integrated micro-CT image analysis pipeline to accurately quantify the phenotypic traits of rice culms in4.6 min per plant;this pipeline will assist in future high-throughput screening of large rice populations for lodging resistance.Di Wu Dan Wu Hui Feng Lingfeng Duan Guoxing Dai Xiao Liu Kang Wang Peng Yang Guoxing Chen Alan P.Gay John H.Doonan Zhiyou Niu Lizhong Xiong Wanneng Yang 2021Plant Communications2021,2,2:7
5Characteristics of size distributions and sources of water-soluble ions in Lhasa during monsoon and non-monsoon seasons显示文摘To understand the physical and chemical characteristics, particle size distribution and sources of size-separated aerosols in Lhasa, which is located on the Tibetan Plateau(TP), six sizes of aerosol samples were collected in Lhasa in 2014. Ca^(2+), NH_4^+, NO_3^-,SO_4^(2-)and Cl-were the dominant ions. The ratio of cation equivalents(CE) to anion equivalents(AE) for each particle size segment indicated that the atmospheric aerosols in Lhasa were alkaline. SO_4^(2-)and NO_3^-could be neutralized by Ca^(2+), but could not be neutralized by NH_4^+, according to the [NH_4^+]/[NO_3^-+ SO_4^(2-)] and [Ca^(2+)]/[NO_3^-+ SO_4^(2-)] ratios. Mobile sources were dominant in PM_(0.95-1.5),PM_(1.5-3) and PM_(3-7.2), while stationary sources were dominant in the other three size fractions according to the [NO_3^-]/[SO_4^(2-)] ratios. The particle size distribution of all watersoluble ions during monsoon and non-monsoon periods was characterized by a bimodal distribution due to the different sources and formation mechanisms, and it was revealed that different ions had different sources in different seasons and different particle size segments by combining particle size distribution with correlation analysis. Source analysis of aerosols in Lhasa was performed using the Principal component analysis(PCA) for the first time, which revealed that combustion sources, motor vehicle exhaust, photochemical reaction sources and various types of dust were the main sources of Lhasa aerosols.Furthermore, Lhasa's air quality was also affected by long-distance transmission, expressed as pollutants from South Asia and West Asia, which were transmitted to Lhasa according to backward trajectory analysis.Nannan Wei Zhiyou Xu Junwen Liu Guanghua Wang Wei Liu Deqing Zhuoga Detao Xiao Jian Yao 2019Journal of Environmental Sciences2019,31,8:7
6Study on the sedimentation capability of bauxite flotation concentrate显示文摘The sedimentation behaviors of bauxite flotation concentrates were investigated at different pH values and flocculant dosages. The effects of three types of flocculants (cationic,anionic and non-ionic polyacrylamide flocculants) as well as the molecular weight of anionic flocculants on the sedimentation of concentrate were studied. 8Abnormal infrared effects of nanometer scale thin film material of PtPd alloy in CO adsorption显示文摘Nanometer scale thin film material of PtPd alloy supported on glassy carbon (nm-PtPd/GC) was prepared by the electrochemical codeposition method under cyclic voltammetric conditions. STM patterns demonstrated that the prepared thin films are composed of layered crystallites in elliptic form. Electrochemical in situ FTIRS studies explored the abnormal infrared effects (AIREs) of nm-PtPd/GC for CO adsorption, which are (i) the remarkable enhancement of IR absorption, (ii) the inversion of COad band direction, and (iii) notable increase in the full width at half maximum (FWHM) of COad bands. 9ZIF-derived Co-N-C ORR catalyst with high performance in proton exchange membrane fuel cells显示文摘Metal and nitrogen-doped carbon(M-N-C)materials have been considered as the most promising non-precious metal oxygen reduction(ORR)catalysts to replace expensive Pt catalysts.Due to high Fenton catalytic activity of Fe element and the resulting instability,Co-based N-C(Co-N-C)catalysts without Fenton catalytic activity should be a worthier ORR catalyst being explored.Although the high ORR activity of Co-N-C catalyst has been demonstrated in aqueous half-cell tests,their performance under PEMFC working condition is still far away from that of state-of-the-art Fe-N-C catalysts.In this study,a high-performance Co-N-C catalyst was synthesized by one-step pyrolyzing Co-doped ZIF-8(zeolitic imidazolate framework-8)particles in-situ grown on the highsurface-area KJ600 carbon black with high electronic conductivity.The resulting Co-N-C catalyst exhibited high intrinsic ORR activity,fast mass transfer rate and high electronic conductivity,and thus yielded a remarkable peak power density of 0.92 W cm^(-2) in H_(2)-O_(2) PEMFC,which is comparable to state-of-the-art Fe-N-C catalyst.This strategy is helpful to synthesize highly active M-N-C ORR catalysts with improved mass transfer and electric conductivity.Ruixiang Wang Pengyang Zhang Yucheng Wang Yuesheng Wang Karim Zaghib Zhiyou Zhou 2020Progress in Natural Science:Materials International2020,30,6:4
10N and P resorption as functions of the needle age class in two conifer trees显示文摘Aims Given the importance of resorption in nutrient conservations,nu-trient resorption should change with leaf age if resorption depends on nutrient content,and if nutrient content changes with leaf age.However,no study has addressed this issue.Methods Here,we measured N and P concentrations of needles of different ages in two woody evergreen conifer species-white spruce(Picea glauca Voss.)and balsam fir(Abies balsamea Mill.)-to determine the effects of needle aging on nutrient resorption.Important Findings For both species,N and P concentrations were higher in newer needles than in older needles.Nutrient resorption efficiency,i.e.percentage of nutrients resorbed during senescence,also declined significantly with needle age from 73 to 22%in these two evergreen conifer species.The difference in nutrient resorp-tion between old and young needles may be attributed to the size of N and P sink tissues,which is likely to decrease with needle age.These results suggest that needle age affects the extent of N and P resorption in these two evergreen conifer species.Zhiyou Yuan Xinrong Shi Feng Jiao Fengpeng Han 2018Journal of Plant Ecology2018,11,5:3

12Stifness modeling and analysis of a novel 4-DOF PKM for manufacturing large components显示文摘Faster response to orientation varying is one of the outstanding abilities of a parallel kinematic machine(PKM).It enables such a system to act as a reconfgurable module employed to machine large components effciently.The stiffness formulation and analysis are the beforehand key tasks for its parameters design.A novel PKM with four degrees of freedom(DOFs)is proposed in this paper.The topology behind it is 2PUS–2PRS parallel mechanism.Its semianalytical stiffness model is frstly obtained,where the generalized Jacobian matrix of 2PUS–2PRS is formulated with the help of the screw theory and the stiffness coeffcients of complicated components are estimated by integrating fnite element analysis and numerical ftting.Under the help of the model,it is predicted that the property of system stiffness distributes within the given workspace,which features symmetry about a certain plane and is also verifed by performing fnite element analysis of the virtual prototype.Furthermore,key parameters affecting the system stiffness are identifed through sensitivity analysis.These provide insights for further optimization design of this PKM.Li Yonggang Zhang Erjiang Song Yimin Feng Zhiyou 2013Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2013,26,6:3
13Dynamical analysis of submesoscale fronts associated with wind-forced offshore jet in the western South China Sea显示文摘This study investigates the submesoscale fronts and their dynamic effects on the mean flow due to frontal instabilities in the wind-driven summer offshore jet of the western South China Sea(WSCS),using satellite observations,a 500 m-resolution numerical simulation,and diagnostic analysis.Both satellite measurements and simulation results show that the submesoscale fronts occupying a typical lateral scale of O(~10)km are characterized with one order of Rossby(Ro)and Richardson(Ri)numbers in the WSCS.This result implies that both geostrophic and ageostrophic motions feature in these submesoscale fronts.The diagnostic results indicate that a net cross-frontal Ekman transport driven by down-front wind forcing effectively advects cold water over warm water.By this way,the weakened local stratification and strong lateral buoyancy gradients are conducive to a negative Ertel potential vorticity(PV)and triggering frontal symmetric instability(SI)at the submesoscale density front.The cross-front ageostrophic secondary circulation caused by frontal instabilities is found to drive an enhanced vertical velocity reaching O(100)m/d.Additionally,the estimate of the down-front wind forcing the Ekman buoyancy flux(EBF)is found to be scaled with the geostrophic shear production(GSP)and buoyancy flux(BFLUX),which are the two primary energy sources for submesoscale turbulence.The large values of GSP and BFLUX at the fronts suggest an efficient downscale energy transfer from larger-scale geostrophic flows to the submesoscale turbulence owing to down-front wind forcing and frontal instabilities.In this content,submesoscale fronts and their instabilities substantially enhance the local vertical exchanges and geostrophic energy cascade towards smaller-scale.These active submesoscale processes associated density fronts and filaments likely provide new physical interpretations for the filamentary high chlorophyll concentration and frontal downscale energy transfer in the WSCS.Xiaolong Huang Zhiyou Jing Ruixi Zheng Haijin Cao 2020Acta Oceanologica Sinica2020,39,11:2
14In situ time-resolved FTIRS study of adsorption and oxidation of ethylene glycol on Pt(100) electrode显示文摘Adsorption and oxidation of ethylene glyco(EG) on Pt(100) electrode were studied by in situ timeresolved FTIRS (TRFTIRS). The TRFTIR spectra recordedat 0.10 V illustrate that an IR band appears near 2050 cm?at t > 5 s, corresponding to linearly bonded CO formed indissociative adsorption of EG. The TRFTIR results haveconfirmed also that CO species are distributed uniformly onPt(100) surface. Another band appears near 2342 cm?1 at > 70 s, associating with IR absorption of CO2 produced inthe direct oxidation of EG. With the increase of electrodepotential, the direct oxidation of EG becomes gradually themain reaction. 18Seasonal characteristics of internal tides and their responses to background currents in the Luzon Strait显示文摘The spatial-temporal characteristics of internal tides(ITs) in the southwest Luzon Strait are examined, based on9-month mooring current records from autumn 2008 to summer 2009. The results of spectral analysis show that the ITs in diurnal and semidiurnal frequencies are prominent at the mooring site, especially for the clockwise rotary component. The diurnal ITs are mostly dominated by the first mode except for that in spring when the second mode is relatively predominant. The semidiurnal ITs display a variable multimodal structure. Moreover,an apparent difference is detected in the kinetic energy of diurnal ITs. The energy is strongest in winter, and followed by that in summer, whereas the value is smallest in spring and autumn. It is suggested that the incoherent motions are responsible for the significant seasonal variations of diurnal ITs, reflecting interaction between diurnal ITs and the varying background conditions. However, the semidiurnal ITs are independent of seasonal change, whose energy is smaller and only one-third of the diurnal energy in winter. Nevertheless, the abnormal variations of semidiurnal ITs are also related to the variable background conditions.
