1Experimental demonstrations of high-Q superconducting coplanar waveguide resonators显示文摘We successfully designed and fabricated an absorption-type of superconducting coplanar waveguide (CPW) resonators. The resonators are made from a niobium film (about 160 nm thick) on a high-resistance Si substrate, and each resonator is fabricated as a meandered quarter-wavelength transmission line (one end is short to the ground and another end is capacitively coupled to a through feedline). With a vector network analyzer we measured the transmissions of the applied microwave through the resonators at ultra-low temperature. The obtained loaded quality factors are significantly high, i.e. up to ~10 6 . When the temperature increases slowly from the base temperature (20 mK), the resonance frequencies of the resonators are blue shifted and the quality factors are lowered slightly. 2Harmonic frequency mixing using high T_c superconductor Josephson junction mounted on pulse tube cryocooler显示文摘A frequency mixing system including microwave coupling and intermediate frequency (IF) measurement arrangements is designed. In lieu of liquid nitrogen, a pulse tube cryocooler is used to cool the whole system. 3Improving the mid-infrared energy absorption efficiency by using a dual-band metamaterial absorber显示文摘In this paper, a dual-band mid-infrared metamaterial absorber was proposed to improve the energy absorption efficiency. Up to 99% absorption was obtained at 9.03 and 11.83 μm in the simulation, and each absorption band can be tuned by the dielectric spacing layer, i.e., the dielectric constant and its thickness. The dual-band absorption mechanism was analyzed, and the quite well absorption performance at large incident angles was also presented. 4Effect of Sedimentation on the Microwave Permeability of FeSiAl Composites显示文摘In order to achieve an easy fabrication and considerable directional orientation, we use a sedimentation method to prepare composites consisting of Fe Si Al flakes. The flakes are dispersed in hydroxylated acrylic resin solution in sonication and natural form into laminated composite samples. Then, the toroidal rings are made with the prepared laminated composite samples. Compared with random orientational Fe Si Al flakes in the composite, the complex permeability of laminated sample has been obviously improved when microwave frequency is below 4 GHz, especially for the imaginary part. A model is proposed to explain the formation reason of aligned Fe Si Al composite by this method. 7Photonic amorphous topological insulator显示文摘The current understanding of topological insulators and their classical wave analogs,such as photonic topological insulators,is mainly based on topological band theory.However,standard band theory does not apply to amorphous phases of matter,which are formed by non-crystalline lattices with no long-range positional order but only shortrange order,exhibiting unique phenomena such as the glass-to-liquid transition.Here,we experimentally investigate amorphous variants of a Chern number-based photonic topological insulator.By tuning the disorder strength in the lattice,we demonstrate that photonic topological edge states can persist into the amorphous regime prior to the glass-to-liquid transition.After the transition to a liquid-like lattice configuration,the signatures of topological edge states disappear.This interplay between topology and short-range order in amorphous lattices paves the way for new classes of non-crystalline topological photonic bandgap materials.Peiheng Zhou Gui-Geng Liu Xin Ren Yihao Yang Haoran Xue Lei Bi Longjiang Deng Yidong Chong Baile Zhang 2020Light(Science & Applications)2020,9,1:1

14Intrinsic superconducting transport properties of ultra-thin Fe_(1+y)Te_(0:6)Se_(0:4) microbridges显示文摘We investigated the superconducting properties of Fe_(1+y)Te_(0:6)Se_(0:4) single-crystalline microbridges with a width of 4 m and thicknesses ranging from 20.8 to 136.2 nm. The temperature-dependent in-plane resistance of the bridges exhibited a type of metalinsulator transition in the normal state. The critical current density(J_c) of the microbridge with a thickness of 136.2 nm was82.3 kA/cm^2 at 3K and reached 105 kA/cm^2 after extrapolation to T = 0 K. The current versus voltage characteristics of the microbridges showed a Josephson-like behavior with an obvious hysteresis. 15Magnetically tunable zero-index metamaterials显示文摘Zero-index metamaterials(ZIMs)feature a uniform electromagnetic mode over a large area in arbitrary shapes,enabling many applications including high-transmission supercouplers with arbitrary shapes,directionindependent phase matching for nonlinear optics,and collective emission of many quantum emitters.However,most ZIMs reported to date are passive;active ZIMs that allow for dynamic modulation of their electromagnetic properties have rarely been reported.Here,we design and fabricate a magnetically tunable ZIM consisting of yttrium iron garnet(YIG)pillars sandwiched between two copper clad laminates in the microwave regime.By harnessing the Cotton–Mouton effect of YIG,the metamaterial was successfully toggled between gapless and bandgap states,leading to a“phase transition”between a zero-index phase and a single negative phase of the metamaterial.Using an S-shaped ZIM supercoupler,we experimentally demonstrated a tunable supercoupling state with a low intrinsic loss of 0.95 d B and a high extinction ratio of up to 30.63 d B at 9 GHz.We have also engineered a transition between the supercoupling state and the topological one-way transmission state at10.6 GHz.Our work enables dynamic modulation of the electromagnetic characteristics of ZIMs,enabling various applications in tunable linear,nonlinear,quantum,and nonreciprocal electromagnetic devices.YUCONG YANG YUEYANG LIU JUN QIN SONGGANG CAI JIEJUN SU PEIHENG ZHOU LONGJIANG DENG YANG LI LEI BI 2023Photonics Research2023,11,10:0
