| 1 | The dimension and morphology of alveolar bone at maxillaryanterior teeth in periodontitis: a retrospective analysis usingCBCT显示文摘The morphology of the alveolar bone at the maxillary anterior teeth in periodontitis patients was evaluated by cone-beam computed tomography(CBCT) to investigate the distribution of alveolar defects and provide guidance for clinical practice. Ninety periodontitis patients and 30 periodontally healthy individuals were selected to determine the morphology of the alveolar bone at the maxillary anterior teeth according to the degree of bone loss, tooth type, sex and age. The differences in the dimensions between periodontitis patients and healthy individuals were compared, and the distribution of alveolar bone defects was analyzed.A classification system was established regarding the sagittal positions and angulations of the teeth. The buccal residual bone was thicker and the lingual bone was thinner in the periodontitis patients than in the periodontally healthy individuals, and there were differences between the different tooth types, sexes and age subgroups. The buccal undercut was close to the alveolar ridge, while fenestration was reduced and the apical bone height was higher in periodontitis patients than in periodontally healthy individuals. The apical bone height increased with the aggravation of bone loss and age. The proportions of different sagittal positions changed with the aggravation of bone loss. Moreover, the teeth moved more buccally regarding the positions of the maxillary anterior teeth. The morphology of the alveolar bone at the maxillary anterior teeth differed between periodontitis patients and healthy individuals, and the differences were related to the degree of bone loss, tooth type, sex and age. | Xue Zhang Yuchao Li Ziming Ge Haijiao Zhao Lei Miao Yaping Pan | 2020 | International Journal of Oral Science2020,12,1: | 10 |
| 2 | Three-dimensional silk fibroin scaffolds enhance the bone formation and angiogenic differentiation of human amniotic mesenchymal stem cells:a biocompatibility analysis显示文摘Silk fibroin(SF)is a fibrous protein with unique mechanical properties, adjustable biodegradation, and the potential to drive differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs)along the osteogenic lineage, making SF a promising scaffold material for bone tissue engineering. In this study,hAMSCs were isolated by enzyme digestion and identified by multiple-lineage differentiation.SF scaffold was fabricated by freeze-drying,and the adhesion and proliferation abilities of hAMSCs on scaffolds were determined.Osteoblast differentiation and angiogenesis of hAMSCs on scaffolds were further evaluated, and histological staining of calvarial defects was performed to examine the cocultured scaffolds. We found that hAMSCs expressed the basic surface markers of MSCs.Collagen type I(COLI)expression was observed on scaffolds cocultured with hAMSCs.The scaffolds potentiated the proliferation of hAMSCs and increased the expression of COL-I in hAMSCs.The scaffolds also enhanced the alkaline phosphatase activity and bone mineralization, and upregulated the expressions of osteogeniorelated factors in vitro. The scaffolds also enhanced the an gioge nic differe ntiati on of hAMSCs.The cocultured scaffolds in creased bone formati on in treating critical calvarial defects in mice. This study first demonstrated that the application of 3D SF scaffolds co-cultured with hAMSCs greatly enhaneed osteogenic differentiation and angiogenesis of hAMSCs in vitro and in vivo.Thus,3D SF scaffolds cocultured with hAMSCs may be a better alter native for bone tissue engin eering. | Yuwan Li Ziming Liu Yaping Tang Qinghong Fan Wei Feng Changqi Luo Guangming Dai Zhen Ge Jun Zhang Gang Zou Yi Liu Ning Hu Wei Huang | 2020 | Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2020,52,6: | 2 |
| 3 | Diversity and more investment needed in Chinese medical education显示文摘China has the largest population in the world and has a huge medical needs.Research on China’s health workforce indicate that China encounter problems of shortages, imbalances and maldistribution in medical resources.Until 2014,China’s total health workforce are 10.2 million,of which licensed doctors are 2.4 million and licensed assistant doctors are 0.5 million(1).Most of these doctors are distributed in state-owned health institutions in relatively developed areas, working as civil servants, rather than independent medical professionals.Taking eye care as an example, there was only about 26 ophthalmologists per million population in China according to the latest domestic survey in 2016(2).And it is reported that cataract surgery rate in China is lagging behind.Only 1,425 people per million received cataract surgery in 2014,while about 5,000 people per million receive such surgery in India and 8,000 people in the US every year(3).Additionally,China has been suffering a high attrition rate among physicians and medical graduates over the past 10 years, going with low physician production, and rapid population growth(4).Based on its national conditions,China institute double reforms of its health-care systems and medical education. | Jian Ge Ziming Luo Sijing Yang | 2017 | Annals of Eye Science2017,,1: | 2 |

| 5 | Elimination of the yellow pigment gene PSY-E2 tightly linked to the Fusarium head blight resistance gene Fhb7 from Thinopyrum ponticum显示文摘Fhb7 is a major gene that was transferred from Thinopyrum ponticum to chromosome 7D of wheat(Triticum aestivum)and confers resistance to both Fusarium head blight(FHB)and Fusarium crown rot(FCR).However,Fhb7 is tightly linked to the PSY-E2 gene, which causes yellow flour, limiting its application in breeding. To break this linkage, marker K-PSY was developed for tagging PSY-E2 and used with Fhb7 markers to identify recombination between the two genes.Screening 21,000 BC1F2 backcross progeny(Chinese Spring ph1bph1b*2/SDAU 2028)revealed two Fhb7^(+)wheat-Tp7el_(2)L lines,Shannong 2–16and Shannong 16–1,that carry a desired truncated Fhb7^(+)translocation segment without PSY-E2.The two lines show levels of resistance to FHB and FCR similar to those of the original translocation line SDAU 2028,but have white flour. To facilitate Fhb7 use in wheat breeding,STS markers were developed and used to isolate Fhb7 on a truncated Tp7el_(2) translocation segment.Near-isogenic lines carrying the Fhb7^(+)segment were generated in the backgrounds of three commercial cultivars, and Fhb7^(+)lines showed increased FHB and FCR resistance without yield penalty. The breakage of the tight linkage between Fhb7 and PSY-E2 via homoeologous recombination provides genetic resources for improvement of wheat resistance to FHB and FCR and permit the large-scale deployment of Fhb7 in breeding using marker-assisted selection. | Xuefeng Li Dong Li Yu Xuan Ziming He Lanfei Zhao Yongchao Hao Wenyang Ge Shoushen Xu Bingqian Hou Biao Wang Jun Guo Wenwen Liu Mingzhu Li Yi Han Cunyao Bo Yinguang Bao Zengjun Qi Steven S.Xu Guihua Bai Hongwei Wang Lingrang Kong | 2023 | The Crop Journal2023,11,3: | 0 |
