| 1 | Prospect of the QTL-qSB-9^(Tq) utilized in molecular breeding program of japonica rice against sheath blight显示文摘The major QTL-qSB-9Tq conferring partial resistance to rice (Oryza sativa L.) sheath blight (Rhizoctonia solani Kühn) has been verified on chromosome 9 of the indica rice cultivar, Teqing. In this study, the prospect of this QTL utilized in molecular breeding program of japonica rice for sheath blight resistance was investigated. Most of the japonica rice cultivars showed lower level of sheath blight resistance than the indica rice cultivars. At the corresponding site of qSB-9Tq, nine typical japonica rice cultivars from different ecological regions or countries proved to possess the susceptible allele(s). Introgression of qSB-9Tq into these cultivars enhanced their resistance level by decreasing sheath blight score of 1.0 (0.5–1.3), which indicated that qSB-9Tq had a large potential in strengthening the resistance of japonica rice to sheath blight. | 2 | Analysis of DNA methylation variation in wheat genetic background after alien chromatin introduction based on methylation-sensitive amplification polymorphism显示文摘During the process of alien germplasm introduced into wheat genome by chromosome engineering, extensive genetic variations of genome structure and gene expression in recipient could be induced. In this study, we performed GISH (genome in situ hybridization) and AFLP (amplified fragment length po-lymorphism) on wheat-rye chromosome translocation lines and their parents to detect the identity in genomic structure of different translocation lines. The results showed that the genome primary struc-ture variations were not obviously detected in different translocation lines except the same 1RS chromosome translocation. Methylation sensitive amplification polymorphism (MSAP) analyses on genomic DNA showed that the ratios of fully-methylated sites were significantly increased in translo-cation lines (CN12, 20.15%; CN17, 20.91%; CN18, 22.42%), but the ratios of hemimethylated sites were significantly lowered (CN12, 21.41%; CN17, 23.43%; CN18, 22.42%), whereas 16.37% were fully-me-thylated and 25.44% were hemimethylated in case of their wheat parent. Twenty-nine classes of me-thylation patterns were identified in a comparative assay of cytosine methylation patterns between wheat-rye translocation lines and their wheat parent, including 13 hypermethylation patterns (33.74%), 9 demethylation patterns (22.76%) and 7 uncertain patterns (4.07%). | 3 | Assessment of structural stability in Bohai Sea area based on AHP-GDM model显示文摘The AHP-GDM model is used for the assessment of structural stability, with the Bohai Sea area as an example. In this model, the credit degree of each expert is calculated through the assessment matrix based on the similarity and diversity of vector. The comprehensive opinions of expert panel are quantitatively obtained by considering the effect of credit degree. According to the geological structural setting, the Bohai Sea is divided into twelve assessment zones of structural stability by non-uniform element method. The structural stability grade of each zone is obtained on the basis of the latest geophysical data, earthquake statistical data, and the information of fault activities, current stress field and crustal deformation. The results show that there are one relatively stable area, three relatively sub-stable areas, six relatively sub-unstable areas and two relatively unstable areas. The assessment results of non-uniform element method are very close with those of uniform grid method with size of 0.25° in longitude direction and 0.14° in latitude direction. However the workload of non-uniform element method is only 1/16 of the latter. | 4 | Runout prediction and dynamic characteristic analysis of a potential submarine landslide in Liwan 3-1 gas field显示文摘A large number of submarine landslides with different scales have been identified in the canyon area of the submarine pipeline route of Liwan 3-1 gas field. There is still much chance that submarine slope failures would happen, and the following mass movement would present great risk to the submarine pipeline. In view of this, a numerical prediction method based on Eulerian-Eulerian two-phase flow model is introduced to simulate the mass movement of potential submarine landslides. The sliding soil and ambient water are respectively simulated by Herschel-Bulkley rheology model and Newtonian fluid model. The turbulence is simulated using the k-e model. Compared with both the experiment data and Bing result, the two-phase flow model shows a good accuracy, and its result is more close to the actual situation; the dynamic coupling between soil and ambient water can be effectively simulated and the phenomena of hydroplaning and head detachment can be obtained.Finally, the soil movement of a potential submarine landslide is simulated as an example, according to the seismic profile in the canyon area. The result shows that the hydroplaning occurs during the movement process. The runout distance calculated by the two-phase flow model is 877 m, which is 27.1% larger than the Bing result.However, the peak front velocity of soil is relative small, with a maximum value of 8.32 m/s. | 5 | Discovering unusual structures from exception using big data and machine learning techniques显示文摘Recently, machine learning(ML) has become a widely used technique in materials science study. Most work focuses on predicting the rule and overall trend by building a machine learning model. However,new insights are often learnt from exceptions against the overall trend. In this work, we demonstrate that how unusual structures are discovered from exceptions when machine learning is used to get the relationship between atomic and electronic structures based on big data from high-throughput calculation database. For example, after training an ML model for the relationship between atomic and electronic structures of crystals, we find AgO2 F, an unusual structure with both Ag3+and O22à, from structures whose band gap deviates much from the prediction made by our model. | 6 | Isolation and characterization of rl_(t), a gene that controls leaf rolling in rice显示文摘Moderate leaf rolling is one of the most important morphological traits in rice breeding for plant ideotype.Previous studies have shown that the rl(t)gene has a high breeding potential for developing hybrid-rice varieties with an ideal ideotype,because it leads to an appropriate leaf rolling index(LRI)of about 30%in the heterozygous state,and had a positive effect on grain yield.In this study,we isolated rl(t)and performed a preliminary investigation of its function in regulating leaf rolling in rice.DNA sequencing identified a single base change(G to T)in the finely mapped region(11 kb)containing rl(t),and this is located in 30-untranslated region(30-UTR)of the only predicted gene,Roc5(Rice outermost cell-specific).The expression level of Roc5 is significantly higher in the rl(t)mutant than in the wild-type.Using RNAi and overexpression analysis,we found that the expression level of Roc5 correlated with LRI and leaf bulliform area,and wasalso associated with leaf abaxial or adaxial rolling.These results confirmed that Roc5 controls leaf rolling in a dosage-dependent manner.Bioinformatics analysis revealed a conserved 17-nt sequence(called the GU-rich element)in the 30-UTR of HD-GL2(Homeodomain-Glabra2)family genes including Roc5.Based on the model of this element in regulating mRNA stability in mammals,we speculate that the single nucleotide change in this element accounts for the higher expression level of Roc5 in the rl(t)mutant compared to the wild-type,which ultimately leads to adaxial rolling of the leaf.This discovery further enhances our knowledge of the molecular mechanisms underlying leaf rolling in rice. | Lei Li Xiang Xue Zongxiang Chen Yafang Zhang Yuyin Ma Cunhong Pan Junkai Zhu Xuebiao Pan Shimin Zuo | 2014 | Chinese Science Bulletin2014,59,25: | 4 |
| 7 | A Fuzzy Hierarchical Strategy for Improving Frequency Regulation of Battery Energy Storage System显示文摘Battery energy storage systems(BESSs)can provide instantaneous support for frequency regulation(FR)because of their fast response characteristics.However,purely pursuing a better FR effect calls for continually rapid cycles of BESSs,which shortens their lifetime and deteriorates the operational economy.To coordinate the lifespan savings and the FR effect,this paper presents a control strategy for the FR of BESSs based on fuzzy logic and hierarchical controllers.The fuzzy logic controller improves the effect of FR by adjusting the charging/discharging power of the BESS with a higher response speed and precision based on the area control error(ACE)signal and the change rate of ACE in a non-linear way.Hierarchical controllers effectively reduce the life loss by optimizing the depth of discharge,which ensures that the state of charge(SOC)of BESS is always in the optimal operating range,and the total FR cost is the lowest at this time.The proposed method can achieve the optimal balance between ACE reduction and operational economy of BESS.The effectiveness of the proposed strategy is verified in a two-area power system. | Kaifeng Wang Ying Qiao Lirong Xie Jiaming Li Zongxiang Lu Huan Yang | 2021 | Journal of Modern Power Systems and Clean Energy2021,9,4: | 3 |
| 8 | Identification of New Resistance Loci Against Sheath Blight Disease in Rice Through Genome-Wide Association Study显示文摘Sheath blight(SB) caused by the soil borne pathogen Rhizoctonia solani is one of the most serious global rice diseases. Breeding resistant cultivar is the most economical and effective strategy to control the disease. However, no rice varieties are completely resistant to SB, and only a few reliable quantitative trait loci(QTLs) linked with SB resistance have been identified to date. In this study, we conducted a genome-wide association study(GWAS) of SB resistance using 299 varieties from the rice diversity panel 1(RDP1) that were genotyped using 44 000 high-density single nucleotide polymorphism(SNP) markers. Through artificial inoculation, we found that only 36.5% of the tested varieties displayed resistance or moderate resistance to SB. In particular, the aromatic and aus sub-populations displayed higher SB resistance than the tropical japonica(TRJ), indica and temperate japonica sub-populations. Seven varieties showed similar resistance levels to the resistant control YSBR1. GWAS identified at least 11 SNP loci significantly associated with SB resistance in the three independent trials, leading to the identification of two reliable QTLs, qSB-3 and qSB-6, on chromosomes 3 and 6. Using favorable alleles or haplotypes of significantly associated SNP loci, we estimated that both QTLs had obvious effects on reducing SB disease severity and can be used for enhancing SB resistance, especially in improving SB resistance of TRJ sub-population rice varieties. | 9 | CSN6 promotes tumorigenesis of gastric cancer by ubiquitin-independent proteasomal degradation of p16INK4a显示文摘Objective: CSN6 is a vital subunit of the constitutive photomorphogenesis 9(COP9) signalosome(CSN), which is responsible for development disorders and promotes ubiquitin-26 S proteasome-dependent degradation in vitro and vivo.Its role in the tumor development of gastric cancer remains unclear.In this study, we investigated the role of CSN6 in gastric cancer progression.Methods: Human gastric cancer samples were collected and immunohistochemistry was performed to identify the role of CSN6 in gastric cancer.The cell proliferation was measured by CCK-8 and the EdU incorporation method.Immunofluorescence localization and a co-immunoprecipitation study were used to show the interaction between the protein CSN6 and p16.Ubiquitination assay was performed to validate whether ubiquitination is involved in CSN6-mediated p16 degradation.BALB/c nude mice were used to produce a tumor model in order to test the effect of CSN6 on cancer growth in vivo.Results: CSN6 expression was dramatically increased in gastric cancer tissues compared with paired adjacent non-tumor tissues and CSN6 was correlated with worse overall and disease-specific survival.Additionally, we also found that CSN6 downregulated p16 protein expression, thereby promoting gastric cancer cell growth and proliferation.Moreover, CSN6 interacted with p16 and a proteasome activator REGγ(PA28γ), thereby facilitating ubiquitin-independent degradation of p16.Conclusions: CSN6 promoted the loss of p16-mediated tumor progression and played an important role in regulating ubiquitin-independent proteasomal degradation of p16. | Wenqi Du Zongxiang Liu Wentao Zhu Tongtong Li Zhiman Zhu Lulu Wei Jun Song Dongsheng Pei | 2019 | Cancer Biology & Medicine2019,16,3: | 2 |

| 19 | Integrated Frequency-constrained Scheduling Considering Coordination of Frequency Regulation Capabilities from Multi-source Converters显示文摘As the proportion of renewable energy(RE)increases,the inertia and the primary frequency regulation(FR)capability of the power system decrease.Thus,ensuring frequency security in the scheduling model has become a new technical requirement in power systems with a high share of RE.Due to a shortage of conventional synchronous generators,the frequency support of multi-source converters has become an indispensable part of the system frequency resources,especially variable-speed wind turbine generation(WTG)and battery energy storage(BES).Quantitative expression of the FR capability of multi-source converters is necessary to construct frequency-constrained scheduling model.However,the frequency support performance of these converter-interfaced devices is related to their working states,operation modes,and parameters,and the complex coupling of these factors has not been fully exploited in existing models.In this study,we propose an integrated frequency-constrained scheduling model considering the coordination of FR capabilities from multi-source converters.Switchable FR control strategies and variable FR parameters for WTG with or without reserved power are modeled,and multi-target allocation of BES capacity between tracking dispatch instruction and emergency FR is analyzed.Then,the variable FR capabilities of WTG and BES are embedded into the integrated frequency-constrained scheduling model.The nonlinear constraints for frequency security are precisely linearized through an improved iteration-based strategy.The effectiveness of the proposed model is verified in a modified IEEE 24-bus standard system.The results suggest that the coordinated participation of BES and WTG in FR can effectively reduce the cost of the scheduling model while meeting frequency security constraints. | Jiaming Li Ying Qiao Zongxiang Lu Wei Ma Xin Cao Rongfu Sun | 2024 | Journal of Modern Power Systems and Clean Energy2024,12,1: | 0 |
