Application of polyurethane geocomposites to help maintain track geometry for high-speed ballasted railway tracks显示文摘There are many issues surrounding the performance of critical assets on high-speed ballasted railway lines. At assets like switch & crossings and bridge transitions high track forces can be produced resulting in higher ballast settlements and hence track misalignments. The latter result in higher track forces and hence more settlement, leading to the need for increased track maintenance to ensure comfort and safety.Current technologies for solving issues like ballast movement under high-speed loading regimes are limited. However,a technique that has been well used across the UK and now increasingly overseas to stabilise and reinforce ballasted railway tracks is the application of in-situ polyurethane polymers, termed XiTRACK.This paper discusses how this technique can be used to solve these types of long-standing issues and presents actual polymer application profiles at two typical critical sites, namely a junction and a transition onto concrete slab-track. | Peter Keith WOODWARD Abdellah EL KACIMI Omar LAGHROUCHE Gabriela MEDERO Meysam BANIMAHD | 2012 | Journal of Zhejiang University-Science A(Applied Physics & Engineering)2012,13,11: | 20
Porous media grain size distribution and hydrodynamic forces effects on transport and deposition of suspended particles显示文摘The effects of porous media grain size distribution on the transport and deposition of polydisperse suspended particles under different flow velocities were investigated. Selected Kaolinite particles(2–30 μm) and Fluorescein(dissolved tracer) were injected in the porous media by step input injection technique. Three sands filled columns were used: Fine sand,Coarse sand, and a third sand(Mixture) obtained by mixing the two last sands in equal weight proportion. The porous media performance on the particle removal was evaluated by analysing particles breakthrough curves, hydro-dispersive parameters determined using the analytical solution of convection–dispersion equation with a first order deposition kinetics, particles deposition profiles, and particle-size distribution of the recovered and the deposited particles. The deposition kinetics and the longitudinal hydrodynamic dispersion coefficients are controlled by the porous media grain size distribution. Mixture sand is more dispersive than Fine and Coarse sands. More the uniformity coefficient of the porous medium is large, higher is the filtration efficiency. At low velocities, porous media capture all sizes of suspended particles injected with larger ones mainly captured at the entrance.A high flow velocity carries the particles deeper into the porous media, producing more gradual changes in the deposition profile. The median diameter of the deposited particles at different depth increases with flow velocity. The large grain size distribution leads to build narrow pores enhancing the deposition of the particles by straining. | Nasre-Dine Ahfir Ahmed Hammadi Abdellah Alem HuaQing Wang Gilbert Le Bras Tariq Ouahbi | 2017 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2017,29,3: | 6
Numerical study of the performance of multistage Scaba 6SRGT impellers for the agitation of yield stress fluids in cylindrical tanks显示文摘The 3-D flow fields and power consumption in a vessel stirred by multistage Scaba 6SRGT impeller have been investigated. The Xanthan gum solutions in water were used, which have a shear thinning behavior with yield stress. This study was carried out with the help of a CFD package(CFX 13.0, Ansys Inc.) which is based on the finite volume method to solve the momentum equations. The effects of stirring rate, fluid rheology, impeller number, impeller location and vessel size on the performance of such stirred system are presented. To validate the CFD model, our predicted results have been compared with other literature data and a satisfactory agreement has been found. | AMEUR Houari BOUZIT Mohamed GHENAIM Abdellah | 2015 | Journal of Hydrodynamics2015,27,3: | 5
A Molecular Framework for the Control of Adventitious Rooting by TIR1/AFB2-Aux/IAADependent Auxin Signaling in Arabidopsis显示文摘In Arabidopsis thaliana, canonical auxin-dependent gene regulation is mediated by 23 transcription factors from the AUXIN RESPONSE FACTOR(ARF)family that interact with auxin/indole acetic acid repressors(Aux/IAAs),which themselves form co-receptor complexes with one of six TRANSPORT INHIBITOR*!/AUXIN-SIGNALLING F-BOX(TIR1/AFB)proteins.Different combinations of co-receptors drive specific sensing outputs, allowing auxin to control a myriad of processes.ARF6 and ARF8 are positive regulators of adventitious root initiation upstream of jasmonate, but the exact auxin co-receptor complexes controlling the transcriptional activity of these proteins has remained unknown. Here, using loss-of-function mutants we show that three Aux/IAA genes,IAA6,IAA9,and IAA17,act additively in the control of adventitious root(AR)initiation. These three IAA proteins interact with ARF6 and/or ARF8 and likely repress their activity in AR development. We show that TIR1 and AFB2 are positive regulators of AR formation and TIR1 plays a dual role in the control of jasmonic acid(JA)biosynthesis and conjugation,as several JA biosynthesis genes are up-regulated in the tir1-1 mutant. These results lead us to propose that in the presence of auxin,TIR1 and AFB2 form specific sensing complexes with IAA6,IAA9,and/or IAA17 to modulate JA homeostasis and control AR initiation. | Abdellah Lakehal Salma Chaabouni Emilie Cavel Rozenn Le Hir Alok Ranjan Zahra Raneshan Ondrej Novak Daniel IPacurar Irene Perrone Frangois Jobert Laurent Gutierrez Laszlo Bako Catherine Bellini | 2019 | Molecular Plant2019,12,11: | 5
Antimycobacterial natural products from Moroccan medicinal plants: Chemical composition, bacteriostatic and bactericidal profile of Thymus satureioides and Mentha pulegium essential oils显示文摘Objective: To evaluate the susceptibility of Mycobacterium aurum and Mycobacterium smegmatis in vitro to the essential oils obtained from two medicinal plants: Thymus satureioides(T. satureioides) and Mentha pulegium(M. pulegium), and to study their chemical composition. Methods: The aerial parts of T. satureioides and M. pulegium(leaves and stems) were hydro-distillated using a Clevenger-type apparatus and essential oils were analyzed and identified by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. Antimycobacterial screening of essential oils was performed on the basis of the inhibition zone diameter by disc diffusion method against two mycobacterial strains whereas the minimal inhibitory concentration and minimal bactericidal concentration were determined by using the micro-dilution method. Results: Chemical analysis of their aerial part's essential oils gave as major compounds,borneol(34.26%), carvacrol(31.21%) and thymol(3.71%) for T. satureioides and R(+)-pulegone(75.48%), carvone(6.66%) and dihydrocarvone(4.64%) for M. pulegium.Thereafter their antimycobacterial effect evaluation, using the micro-dilution method, indicated that minimal inhibitory concentration values of T. satureioides essential oil ranged from 0.062% to 0.015%(v/v) and from 0.125% to 0.031%(v/v) for M. pulegium respectively against Mycobacterium aurum and Mycobacterium smegmatis. Conclusions: It is clearly evident from the results obtained that the Moroccan medicinal plants have great potential to be used as anti-tuberculosis agents. These findings may help scientists to undertake several research projects to discover useful natural product as new anti-tuberculosis drug. | Marwa Chraibi Abdellah Farah Sara Lebrazi Oumaima El Amine Mohammed Iraqui Houssaini Kawtar Fikri-Benbrahim | 2016 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2016,6,10: | 3
Serviceability analysis of deep underground openings driven in jointed-rock显示文摘The performance of underground excavations is inevitably influenced by rock mass characteristics, presence of joints and their geometrical properties, depth below surface and state of in-situ stress field. The objective of this paper is to investigate the behaviour of deep underground tunnel opening existed between two bedding planes, Such planes weaken the strength of rock mass and may cause rock slippage/rotation along them. Therefore, the state of stress-displacement, after tunnel opening has been introduced, is examined using two-dimensional elasto-plastic finite-elements code, RS^(2D). The results indicate that, there is significant drop in the normal stress along joints over tunnel opening; slip occurs due to reversal in the direction of shear stress(e.g., inward shear displacement is produced) and there is discontinuity in the strength contours of rock surrounding tunnel after they have been intersected by bedding planes. | Abdellah Wael R. | 2017 | International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2017,27,6: | 2

对连续搅拌反应釜的变量结构观察器线性反馈控制的开发(英文)显示文摘This paper deals with the design of an observer-based nonlinear control for continuous stirred tank reactors(CSTR).A variable structure observer is constructed to estimate the whole process state variables. This observer is basically the conventional Luenberger observer with an additional switching term used to guarantee the robustness against modeling errors. The observer is coupled with a nonlinear controller, designed based on input-output linearization for controlling the reactor temperature. The asymptotical stability of the closed-loop system is shown by the Lyapunov stability theorem. Finally, computer simulations are developed for showing the performance of the proposed approach. | Bachir Daaou Abdellah Mansouri Mohamed Bouhamida Mohammed Chenafa | 2012 | Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2012,20,3: | 2
Towards hepatitis C virus elimination:Egyptian experience, achievements and limitations显示文摘Worldwide, more than one million people die each year from hepatitis C virus(HCV) related diseases, and over 300 million people are chronically infected with hepatitis B or C. Egypt used to be on the top of the countries with heavy HCV burden. Some countries are making advances in elimination of HCV, yet multiple factors preventing progress; remain for the majority. These factors include lack of global funding sources for treatment, late diagnosis, poor data, and inadequate screening. Treatment of HCV in Egypt has become one of the top national priorities since 2007. Egypt started a national treatment program intending to provide cure for Egyptian HCV-infected patients. Mass HCV treatment program had started using Pegylated interferon and ribavirin between 2007 and 2014. Yet, with the development of highly-effective direct acting antivirals(DAAs) for HCV, elimination of viral hepatitis has become a real possibility. The Egyptian National Committee for the Control of Viral Hepatitis did its best to provide Egyptian HCV patients with DAAs. Egypt adopted a strategy that represents a model of care that could help other countries with high HCV prevalence rate in their battle against HCV. This review covers the effects of HCV management in Egyptian real life settings and the outcome of different treatment protocols. Also, it deals with the current and future strategies for HCV prevention and screening as well as the challenges facing HCV elimination and the prospect of future eradication of HCV. | Dalia Omran Mohamed Alboraie Rania A Zayed Mohamed-Naguib Wifi Mervat Naguib Mohamed Eltabbakh Mohamed Abdellah Ahmed Fouad Sherief Sahar Maklad Heba Hamdy Eldemellawy Omar Khalid Saad Doaa Mohamed Khamiss Mohamed El Kassas | 2018 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2018,24,38: | 2
