| 1 | Cyclooxygenase-2 polymorphisms and the risk of esophageal adeno-or squamous cell carcinoma显示文摘AIM:To determine whether-1195 A→G and/or-765 G→C polymorphisms in Cyclooxygenase-2(COX-2 ) may have a risk modifying effect on the development of esophageal carcinoma in a Dutch Caucasian population.METHODS:Two study groups were recruited, 252 patients with esophageal carcinoma and 240 healthy controls, matched for race, age, gender and recruiting area.DNA was isolated from whole blood and used for genotyping.PCR products were digested with restriction enzymes and products were analyzed by agarose gel electrophoresis.Odds ratios(OR) and 95% confldence intervals(CI) were estimated.RESULTS:The distribution of the-1195 A→G polymorphism was signif icantly different in esophageal cancer patients compared to controls.The-1195 GG genotype resulted in a higher risk of developing esophageal adenocarcinoma(OR = 3.85, 95% CI:1.45-10.3) compared with the-1195 AA genotype as a reference.The-765 G→C genotype distribution was not different between the two groups.The GG/ GG haplotype was present more often in esophageal adenocarcinoma patients than in controls(OR = 3.45, 95% CI:1.24-9.58;with AG/AG as a reference).The same trends were observed in patients with squamous cell carcinomas, however, the results did not reach statistical signif icance.CONCLUSION:Presence of the COX-2-1195 GG genotype and of the GG/GG haplotype may result in a higher risk of developing esophageal carcinoma. | Jón O Kristinsson Paul van Westerveld Rene HM te Morsche Hennie MJ Roelofs T Wobbes Ben JM Witteman Adriaan CITL Tan Martijn GH van Oijen Jan BMJ Jansen Wilbert HM Peters | 2009 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2009，15，28： | 11 |

| 3 | Efficacy of thioguanine treatment in inflammatory bowel disease: A systematic review显示文摘AIM To critically assess the available literature regarding the efficacy of thioguanine treatment in inflammatory bowel disease(IBD) patients, irrespective of the(hepato-) toxicity profile.METHODS A systematic literature search of the MEDLINE database using Pub Med was performed using the keywords 'thioguanine', '6-TG', 'thioguanine', 'inflammatory bowel disease', 'IBD', 'Crohn's disease', 'Ulcerative colitis' and 'effectiveness' in order to identify relevant articles published in English starting from 2000. Reference lists of the included articles were crosschecked for missing articles. Reviewed manuscripts concerning the effectiveness of thioguanine treatment in IBD were reviewed by the authors and the data were extracted. Data were subsequently analyzed with descriptive statistics. Due to the lack of standardized outcomes, a formal meta-analysis was not performed.RESULTS A total of 11 applicable studies were found that involved the effectiveness of thioguanine therapy in IBD. Eight studies were conducted in a prospectivemanner, in the remaining three studies, data was collected retrospectively. In total, 353 IBD-patients(225 patients with Crohn's disease, 119 with ulcerative colitis and nine with unclassified IBD) with prior azathioprine/mercaptopurine resistance and/or intolerance(n = 321) or de novo thioguanine administration(n = 32) were included for analysis, of which 228(65%) had clinical improvement on thioguanine therapy, based on standard IBD questionnaires, biochemical parameters or global physician assessments. Short-term results were based on 268 treatment years(median follow-up 9 mo, range 3-22 mo) with a median daily dose of 20 mg(range 10-80 mg). Discontinuation, mostly due to adverse events, was reported in 72 patients(20%). | 8 | Retrospective analysis of old-age colitis in the Dutch inflammatory bowel disease population显示文摘AIM: To describe the characteristics of Dutch patients with chronic inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) first diagnosed above 60 years of age-a disease also known as old-age colitis (OAC) and to highlight a condition that has a similar appearance to IBD, namely segmen- tal colitis associated with diverticular disease (SCAD). METHODS: A retrospective longitudinal survey of patient demographic and clinical characteristics, disease characteristics, diagnostic methods, management and course of disease was performed. The median follow-up period was 10 years. RESULTS: Of a total of 1100 IBD patients attending the Department of Gastroenterology, 59 (5%) [median age 82 years (range 64-101); 25 male (42%)] were identified. These patients were diagnosed with ulcerative colitis (n = 37, 61%), Crohn’s disease (n = 14, 24%), and indeterminate colitis (n = 8, 15%). Remission was induced in 40 (68%) patients within a median interval of 6 mo (range 1-21) and immunosuppressive therapy was well tolerated. Histological evaluation based on many biopsy samples and the course of the disease led to other diagnosis, namely SCAD instead of IBD in five (8%) patients. CONCLUSION: OAC is not an infrequent problem for the gastroenterologist, and should be considered in the evaluation of older patients with clinical featuressuggestive of IBD. | 16 | Crop type mapping using LiDAR,Sentinel-2 and aerial imagery with machine learning algorithms显示文摘LiDAR data are becoming increasingly available,which has opened up many new applications.One such application is crop type mapping.Accurate crop type maps are critical for monitoring water use,estimating harvests and in precision agriculture.The traditional approach to obtaining maps of cultivated fields is by manually digitizing the fields from satellite or aerial imagery and then assigning crop type labels to each field-often informed by data collected during ground and aerial surveys.However,manual digitizing and labeling is time-consuming,expensive and subject to human error.Automated remote sensing methods is a cost-effective alternative,with machine learning gaining popularity for classifying crop types.This study evaluated the use of LiDAR data,Sentinel-2 imagery,aerial imagery and machine learning for differentiating five crop types in an intensively cultivated area.Different combinations of the three datasets were evaluated along with ten machine learning.The classification results were interpreted by comparing overall accuracies,kappa,standard deviation and f-score.It was found that LiDAR data successfully differentiated between different crop types,with XGBoost providing the highest overall accuracy of 87.8%.Furthermore,the crop type maps produced using the LiDAR data were in general agreement with those obtained by using Sentinel-2 data,with LiDAR obtaining a mean overall accuracy of 84.3%and Sentinel-2 a mean overall accuracy of 83.6%.However,the combination of all three datasets proved to be the most effective at differentiating between the crop types,with RF providing the highest overall accuracy of 94.4%.These findings provide a foundation for selecting the appropriate combination of remotely sensed data sources and machine learning algorithms for operational crop type mapping. | Adriaan Jacobus Prins Adriaan Van Niekerk | 2021 | Geo-Spatial Information Science2021，24，2： | 2 |
