| 1 | Impact of Synchronous Condenser on the Dynamic Behavior of LCC-based UHVDC System Hierarchically Connected to AC System显示文摘Hierarchical connection(HC)is a very attractive mode for±800 kV line commutated converter based ultra high voltage direct current(LCC-UHVDC)system connected to different AC voltage levels because of its ability to reduce the scale factor of a converter transformer.Faults in the HC-UHVDC system can cause commutation failure(CF).In this paper,impact of synchronous condenser(SC)to mitigate CF in HC-UHVDC system is analyzed.A±800KV HC-UHVDC system along with synchronous condenser is built in PSCAD/EMTDC.Transient performance analysis of HC-UHVDC for single and three phase to ground faults is investigated.Commutation failure immunity index(CFII),commutation failure probability index(CFPI),fault recovery time(FRT),and transient overvoltage(TOV)are used as measures to evaluate the effects of SC at HC-UHVDC system design.The simulation results show that SC can make the HCUHVDC system less susceptible to CF,effectively improve fault recovery performances of the overall system,and reduce transient overvoltage when single or multiple converters are blocked.The results of this research can provide technical assistance in real world HC-UHVDC projects. | Ali Aamir Li Qiao Chunyi Guo Atiq Ur Rehman Zhizhong Yang | 2019 | CSEE Journal of Power and Energy Systems2019,5,2: | 9 |
| 2 | Estimation of the Shale Oil/Gas Potential of a Paleocene–Eocene Succession: A Case Study from the Meyal Area, Potwar Basin, Pakistan显示文摘The successful exploration and production of shale-gas resources in the United States and Canada sets a new possible solution towards the energy crisis presently affecting most countries of Asia. This study focuses on the use of well log and 2D seismic data for the characterization of the shale oil/gas potential of a Paleocene–Eocene succession — the Meyal area in the Potwar Basin of Pakistan. Two shaly plays are identified in Paleocene–Eocene strata in well logs using ΔLogR and modified ΔLogR cross-plot techniques. The results indicate that Paleocene shale(the Patala Formation) and the lower shaly part of Eocene limestone(Sakesar Formation) can be potentially mature source rocks. However, the thermal maturity modelling proves that only the Paleocene shale is mature. Our results also suggest that the maturity responses on ΔLogR models for the lower shaly part of the Eocene limestone are due to trapped hydrocarbons in the intra-formational fractures. Petroelastic/petrophysical analysis of the Patala Formation reveals two potential shale oil/gas zones on the basis of Young's modulus, Poisson's ratio, Brittleness index and Total Organic Content at an exploitation depth of 3980–3988 m. | 8 | Structural Comparison and Drug Screening of Spike Proteins of Ten SARS-CoV-2 Variants显示文摘SARS-CoV-2(severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2)has evolved many variants with stronger infectivity and immune evasion than the original strain,including Alpha,Beta,Gamma,Delta,Epsilon,Kappa,lota,Lambda,and 21H strains.Amino acid mutations are enriched in the spike protein of SARS CoV-2.which plays a crucial role in cell infetion.However,the impact of these mutations on protein structure and function is unclear.Understanding the pathophysiology and pandemic feaures of these SARS-CoV-2 variants requires knowledge of the spike protein structures.Here,we obtained the spike protein structures of 10 main globally endemic SARS CoV-2 strains using AlphaFold2.The clustering analysis based on structural similarity revealed the unique features of the mainly pandemic SARS CoV-2 Delta variants.indicating that structural clusters can reflect the current characteristics of the epidemic more accurately than those based on the protein sequence.The analysis of the binding afinities of ACE2-RBD,antibody-NTD,and antibody-RBD complexes in the different variants revealed that the recognition of antibodies against SI NTD and RBD was decreased in the variants,especally the Delta variant compared with the original strain,which may induce the immune evasion of SARS-CoV-2 variants.Furthermore,by virtual screening the ZINC database against a high-accuracy predicted structure of Delta spike protein and experimental validation,we identified multiple compounds that target S1 NTD and RBD,which might contribute towards the development of clinical anti-SARS-CoV-2 medicines.Our findings provided a basic foundation for future in vitro and in vivo investigations that might speed up the development of potential therapies for the SARS-CoV-2 va riants. | Qiangzhen Yang Xuemin Jian Ali Alamdar Shah Syed Aamir Fahira Chenxiang Zheng zijia Zhu Ke Wang Jinmai Zhang Yangin Wen Zhiqiang Li Dun Pan Tingting Lu Zhuo Wang Yongyong Shi | 2022 | Research2022,,2: | 2 |

| 10 | Evaluation of the fishery status for King Soldier Bream Argyrops spinifer in Pakistan using the software CEDA and ASPIC显示文摘Catch and effort data were analyzed to estimate the maximum sustainable yield(MSY) of King Soldier Bream, Argyrops spinifer(Forssk?l, 1775, Family: Sparidae), and to evaluate the present status of the fish stocks exploited in Pakistani waters. The catch and effort data for the 25-years period 1985–2009 were analyzed using two computer software packages, CEDA(catch and effort data analysis) and ASPIC(a surplus production model incorporating covariates). The maximum catch of 3 458 t was observed in 1988 and the minimum catch of 1 324 t in 2005, while the average annual catch of A. spinifer over the 25 years was 2 500 t. The surplus production models of Fox, Schaefer, and Pella Tomlinson under three error assumptions of normal, log-normal and gamma are in the CEDA package and the two surplus models of Fox and logistic are in the ASPIC package. In CEDA, the MSY was estimated by applying the initial proportion(IP) of 0.8, because the starting catch was approximately 80% of the maximum catch. Except for gamma, because gamma showed maximization failures, the estimated results of MSY using CEDA with the Fox surplus production model and two error assumptions, were 1 692.08 t(R 2 =0.572) and 1 694.09 t( R 2 =0.606), respectively, and from the Schaefer and the Pella Tomlinson models with two error assumptions were 2 390.95 t( R 2 =0.563), and 2 380.06 t( R 2 =0.605), respectively. The MSY estimated by the Fox model was conservatively compared to the Schaefer and Pella Tomlinson models. The MSY values from Schaefer and Pella Tomlinson models were the same. The computed values of MSY using the ASPIC computer software program with the two surplus production models of Fox and logistic were 1 498 t(R 2 =0.917), and 2 488 t( R 2 =0.897) respectively. The estimated values of MSY using CEDA were about 1 700–2 400 t and the values from ASPIC were 1 500–2 500 t. | 14 | Temperature trends and elevation dependent warming during 1965-2014 in headwaters of Yangtze River, Qinghai Tibetan Plateau显示文摘The understanding of temperature trends in high elevation mountain areas is an integral part of climate change research and it is critical for assessing the impacts of climate change on water resources including glacier melt, degradation of soils, and active layer thickness. In this study, climate changes were analyzed based on trends in air temperature variables(Tmax, Tmin, Tmean), and Diurnal Temperature Range(DTR) as well as elevation-dependent warming at annual and seasonal scales in the Headwaters of Yangtze River(HWYZ), Qinghai Tibetan Plateau. The Base Period(1965-2014) was split into two subperiods;Period-Ⅰ(1965-1989) and Period-Ⅱ(1990-2014) and the analysis was constrained over two subbasins;Zhimenda and Tuotuohe. Increasing trends were found in absolute changes in temperature variables during Period-Ⅱ as compared to Period-Ⅰ.Tmax, Tmin, and Tmean had significant increasing trends for both sub-basins. The highest significant trends in annual time scale were observed in Tmin(1.15℃ decade-1) in Tuotuohe and 0.98℃ decade-1 in Zhimenda sub-basins. In Period-Ⅱ, only the winter season had the highest magnitudes of Tmax and Tmin0.58℃ decade-1 and 1.26℃ decade-1 in Tuotuohe subbasin, respectively. Elevation dependent warming analysis revealed that Tmax, Tmin and Tmean trend magnitudes increase with the increase of elevations in the middle reaches(4000 m to 4400 m) of the HWYZ during Period-Ⅱ annually. The increasing trend magnitude during Period-Ⅱ, for Tmax, is 1.77, 0.92, and 1.31℃ decade-1, for Tmin 1.20, 1.32 and 1.59℃ decade-1,for Tmean 1.51, 1.10 and 1.51℃ decade-1 at elevations of4066 m, 4175 m and 4415 m respectively in the winter season. Tmean increases during the spring season for> 3681 m elevations during Period-Ⅱ, with no particular relation with elevation dependency for other variables. During the summer season in Period Ⅱ, Tmax, Tmin, Tmean increases with the increase of elevations(3681 m to 4415 m) in the middle reaches of HWYZ. Elevation dependent warming(EDW), the study concluded that magnitudes of Tmin are increasing significantly after the 1990s as compared to Tmax in the HWYZ. It is concluded that the climate of the HWYZ is getting warmer in both sub-basins and the rate of warming was more evident after the 1990s. | 16 | Structural Analysis of the SARS-CoV-2 Omicron Variant Proteins显示文摘The spread of the latest SARS-CoV-2 variant Omicron is particularly concerning because of the large number of mutations present in its genome and lack of knowledge about how these mutations would affect the current SARS-CoV-2 vaccines and treatments.Here,by performing phylogenetic analysis using the Omicron spike(S)protein sequence,we found that the Omicron S protein presented the longest evolutionary distance in relation to the other SARS-CoV-2 variants.We predicted the structures of S,M,and N proteins of the Omicron variant using AlphaFold2 and investigated how the mutations have affected the S protein and its parts,S1 NTD and RBD,in detail.We found many amino acids on RBD were mutated,which may influence the interactions between the RBD and ACE2,while also showing the S309 antibody could still be capable of neutralizing Omicron RBD.The Omicron S1 NTD structures display significant differences from the original strain,which could lead to reduced recognition by antibodies resulting in potential immune escape and decreased effectiveness of the existing vaccines.However,this study of the Omicron variant was mainly limited to structural predictions,and these findings should be explored and verified by subsequent experiments.This study provided basic data of the Omicron protein structures that lay the groundwork for future studies related to the SARS-CoV-2 Omicron variant. | Qiangzhen Yang Ali Alamdar Shah Syed Aamir Fahira Yongyong Shi | 2021 | Research2021,,1: | 1 |
