Suppressing by-product via stratified adsorption effect to assist highly reversible zinc anode in aqueous electrolyte显示文摘The development of promising zinc anodes mainly suffers from their low plating/stripping coulombic efficiencies when using aqueous electrolyte, which are mainly associated with the interfacial formation of irreversible by-products.It is urgent to develop technologies that can solve this issue fundamentally.Herein,we report an artificial Sc_(2)O_(3) protective film to construct a new class of interface for Zn anode. The density functional theory simulation and experimental results have proven that the interfacial side reaction was inhibited via a stratified adsorption effect between this artificial layer and Zn anode.Benefiting from this novel structure, the Sc_(2)O_(3)-coated Zn anode can run for more than 100 cycles without short circuit and exhibit low voltage hysteresis, and the coulombic efficiency increases by 1.2%.Importantly,it shows a good application prospect when matched with two of popular manganese-based and vanadium-based cathodes. The excellent electrochemical performance of the Sc_(2)O_(3)-coated Zn anode highlights the importance of rational design of anode materials and demonstrates a good way for developing high-performance Zn anodes with long lifespan and high efficiency.Miao Zhou Shan Guo Guozhao Fang Hemeng Sun Xinxin Cao Jiang Zhou Anqiang Pan Shuquan Liang 2021Journal of Energy Chemistry2021,30,4:6

A proposed design of flow diverter and it’s hemodynamic validation显示文摘Flow diverter intervention is a cutting-edge treatment for intracranial aneurysms by altering the flow field and reducing the pressure in the aneurysm sac. However, the rupture rate and complications rate are still high.In this study,a new design of flow diverter based on Bernoulli’s equation was proposed and hemodynamics evaluation of it was conducted. The numerical model of a patient specific internal carotid aneurysm was established based on computed tomography scan images(Model C).The aneurysm models with normal diverter(ND)and local stenosed diverter(LSD)were modified from the patient-specific model. The blood flow characteristics were obtained and analyzed by numerical simulation while the in vitro experiments were conducted using three-dimensional printed silicone models and pressure measurement system. In both ND and LSD models, the blood flow into the aneurysm have been significantly blocked by the diverters and the pressure in the aneurysm sac have been decreased. The pressure drop and the wall shear stress on the aneurysm wall in the LSD model are higher than that in the ND model. The oscillatory shear index and relative residence time in the aneurysm wall of LSD are lower than that in the ND model. The pressure measurement in the vitro experiment also qualitatively verified the results of pressure comparison in the numerical simulation. In conclusion, the simulation results and in vitro experiments verified that diverter can certainly reduce the pressure in the aneurysm, and the newly design diverter with local stenosis can strengthening this effect.Anqiang Sun Chengcheng Zhao Zujie Gao Xiaoyan Deng Hancheng Qiu 2021Medicine in Novel Technology and Devices2021,,1:1

A new way to evaluate thrombotic risk in failure heart and ventricular assist devices显示文摘Thrombosis is one of the main complications in patients implanted with ventricular assist device(VAD).The complicated structure and disturbed flow field within failure heart and blood pump play an important role in thrombosis formation. In this study, the influence of Left ventricular(LV)volumes on flow field contributing to thrombosis formation within failure heart and VAD was investigated.Computational Fluid Dynamics(CFD)methods were employed to investigate the effect of different LV volumes on the thrombogenic potential of failure heart and VAD.Lagrangian methods were utilized to obtain information on platelet voyage trajectories. The concepts of mean and threshold of stress accumulation and residence time were introduced to accurately assess the likelihood of thrombus.Eulerian methods were used to identify thrombus-prone locations.CFD results showed that residence time(RT)was the main cause of thrombus formation in the failure heart, and the percentage of platelet trajectories above the RT threshold increased significantly with increasing LV volume. The RT in the left atrial appendage and LV increased significantly with LV volume increasing, which indicated that thrombus is prone to form there.Compared with the failure heart,non-physiological shear stress(NPSS)-caused platelet activation is the main reason for thrombus formation within VAD.The narrow zones(top clearance and secondary flow passage)within VAD have a high incidence of thrombus generation. In VAD patients, the LV volume has an important impact on thrombosis probability within failure heart,in which the larger size of the LV volume is,the higher risk of thrombosis will be.The size of LV volume has little effect on the thrombosis formation probability of VAD,where the NPSS plays the leading role in thrombosis formation. The finding of this study can be utilized to guild the clinical treatment and VAD structure optimization design for reducing the thrombosis risk.Yuan Li Yifeng Xi Hongyu Wang Anqiang Sun Xiaoyan Deng Zengsheng Chen Yubo Fan 2022Medicine in Novel Technology and Devices2022,,4:1

The impact of ECMO lower limb cannulation on the aortic flow features under differential blood perfusion conditions显示文摘The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of veno-arterial(VA)ECMO cannulation on hemodynamic distribution and organ perfusion within aorta under differential blood perfusion conditions. The total blood flow volume supplied by failure heart and ECMO keep constant, flow volume ratio of heart output(FVR-HO)increases from 0%to 100%and correspondingly flow volume ratio of ECMO(FVR-ECMO)decreases from 100%to 0%.The flow patterns within aorta, wall shear stress(WSS),oscillatory shear index(OSI),relative retention time(RRT)were analyzed. The locations of oxygenated and de-oxygenated blood mixing region(BMR)was influenced by FVR-HO.With FVR-HO increasing,BMR moves from proximal to distal side of heart. When FVR-HO was 0%,oxygenated blood supplied by ECMO completely perfuses the aortic vessels.High WSS appears in the iliac artery and abdominal aorta vessel walls closed to cannula position. When FVR-HO was in the range of 10%–30%,the BMR was in aortic arch. The higher OSI and RRT were exhibited in ascending aorta and aorta arch. When FVR-HO was 40%and 50%,the BMR was in ventral trunk for systolic period and in aortic arch for diastolic period. The higher OSI and RRT regions enlarge and metastasize to the descending aorta. When FVR-HO was larger than 50%,the BMR was in the downstream region of the renal artery.Of note, when FVR-HO increases from 0%to 100%,the flow ratios in the two renal arteries change from significant different to be closed at systolic period.Peripheral VA-ECMO with various perfusion levels from cardiac output and ECMO has significant effect on aortic flow surrounding.Partial recovery of heart function can impel BMR moves from proximal to distal side of the heart, which may lead to inadequate supply of oxygenated blood to the upper limb and cephalic vessels.Yifeng Xi Yuan Li Hongyu Wang Anqiang Sun Xiaoyan Deng Zengsheng Chen Yubo Fan 2022Medicine in Novel Technology and Devices2022,,4:0
Renal Effects of Prosthetic Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm in Dogs显示文摘To provide experimental model for abdominal aortic aneurysm research and to optimize design of stent-graft,the authors established an animal models of prosthetic abdominal aortic aneurysm (PAAA) in dogs, evaluated its biofunction, biocompatibility and renal effect. The PAAA was sutured using aneurysm neck (Φ 6 mm artificial blood vessel) and aneurysm body (Φ 29 and 31mm artificial blood vessel, respectively). Sixteen healthy adult dogs, with weight of 13. 5 ± 0. 66 kg,were randomly divided into 2 groups: group 29 mm and group 31 mm,8 in each group. Infrarenal aortic artery was reconstructed with PAAA to establish abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) animal model. Blood coagulation index such as prothrombin time (PT),activated partial thromboplatin time (APTT),thrombin time (TT) and Fibrinogen (Fbg) were detected pre-operation,1,7 and 14 days post-operation,respectively. Blood routine parameters were detected pre-operation 11,3 and 7 days post-operation. Renal function parameters such as blood urea nitrogen (BUN),creatinine (CREA),urea acid (UA) and urea/ creatinine (BU/CREA) were evaluated pre-operation and 30,90,150 days post-operation,respectively. PAAA were removed en bloc to determinine its biofuction and biocompatibility after 5 months of surgery. Kidneys were fixed in neutral buffered formalin solution, pathological slice were conducted to observate pathological changes of kidneys by HE stain. The results are as follows:1. Animal model: The PAAA was implanted to the infrarenal abdominal aortic artery without extensive bleeding after anastomosis. One dog died 2,25 and 127 days post-operation in group 31 mm,respectively, and the overall success rate was 62. 5%. One dog died 7 days post-operation in group 29 mm,the overall success rate was 87. 5%.2. Biofunction and biocompatibility of PAAA: Autopsy showed that there were no abdominal adhesions around the PAAAs,the lumen was patent without blood clots, there were no bleeding in PAAAs in two groups. Biocompatibility was poor because the outer layer of PAAA was enclosed by tissues, which was easy to strip,in group 31 mm. Excellent biocompatibility was proved by vascular endothelial cells growth in the inner layer of PAAA in group 29 mm.3. Coagulation examination: ATPP reduced significantly 1 day post-operation,and returned to normal after 7 days;there was no significant difference on TT in two groups. 14A systematic review of DVT and stent restenosis after stent implantation for iliac vein compression syndrome显示文摘Iliac vein compression syndrome(IVCS)is a common venous disease caused by joint compression of the right common iliac artery and the lumbosacral vertebrae. The compression of iliac vein not only causes venous hypertension in the lower extremities, but also induces venous valve dysfunction and superficial varicose veins in lower extremities. Moreover, the compression of iliac vein is an important potential factor for iliofemoral vein thrombosis.Currently, open surgery and stent implantation are the main treatment for IVCS.Due to the advantages of minimally invasive and postoperative patency, stent implantation for IVCS has gradually become the standard treatment. However, when the stent is implanted into the iliac vein to treat IVCS,the complications, such as restenosis, deep vein thrombosis(DVT)appear, which affect the patency of stent and hamper the patient recovery.Up to now,the mechanism how the stent implantation induces the restenosis and DVT is still unclear. In this review,we summarized the clinical symptoms, treatment methods of IVCS and the complications after stent implantation, and analyzed the mechanism of stent restenosis and DVT,and finally discuss the iliac vein stent design specifically for treating IVCS.Hongyu Wang Anqiang Sun Yuan Li Yifeng Xi Yubo Fan Xiaoyan Deng Zengsheng Chen 2022Medicine in Novel Technology and Devices2022,,3:0
PDGFR kinase inhibitor protects against septic death via regulation of BTLA显示文摘Sepsis, defined as life-threatening organ failure caused by a dysregulated host response to severe infection,is a major cause of death among intensive care unit patients.Therapies targeting on immunomodulatory is a new research field in sepsis treatment.B-and T-lymphocyte attenuator(BTLA)is an inhibitory costimulatory factor molecule of B and T lymphocytes.Studies have shown that elevated expression of BTLA in lymphocytes can reduce mortality in sepsis, but its regulatory compounds and the underlying mechanism remains to be elucidated. Here,we show that treatment with CP-673451 significantly decreases mortality of septic mouse.CP-673451 is a PDGFR kinase inhibitor which can promote the expression of BTLA,inhibit the release of chemokines such as CXCL13,and reduce first the chemotaxis of B cells to the peripheral blood and vital organs.CP-673451 also inhibits both the release of cytokines and chemokines such as IL-1β,IL-6,IL-10,TNF-α,CCL1,CCL2 and CCL7 and reduces both the chemotactic ability of T cells. This suggests that CP-673451 may prevent septic death by inhibiting lymphocyte chemotaxis and alleviating“cytokine storm”.In conclusion, our study provides a new therapeutic target and an effective compound for sepsis treatment.Qiang Wang Jin Deng Jianhui Sun Huacai Zhang Di Liu Chu Gao Jinchao Qiu Wenyi Liu Guoxin Qu Dalin Wen Juan Du Anqiang Zhang Ling Zeng Jianxin Jiang 2022Science China(Life Sciences)2022,65,10:0
Non-physiological shear stress-induced blood damage in ventricular assist device显示文摘Ventricular assist devices(VADs)have been used for treating the end-stage heart failure(HF)patients in the past few decades, which had improved survival rates. In parallel, clinical applications of VADs are accompanied with endangered complications, such as thrombosis, bleeding and infection, which hamper the patient recovery.Nonphysiological shear stress(NPSS)is inevitably created during VAD application. When HF patients implanted with VADs,this high level NPSS can induce damage on blood components including blood cells(red blood cells, platelets, leukocytes et al.)and protein(von Willebrand Factor(VWF)).The damage of these blood cells and proteins may lead to the dysfunction of coagulation and immune systems, contributing to complications in VAD patients. To understand how VADs-created NPSS induces blood damage, and find the link between NPSS-induced blood damage and VAD related complications would potentially help to guide the VAD optimization and to find the effect way for treating VAD associated complications. Here we provide a review to investigate what is currently known about NPSS-induced blood damage within VADs and how the NPSS-induced blood damage links to complications(thrombosis, bleeding and infection)in VAD patients.Zengsheng Chen Anqiang Sun Hongyu Wang Yubo Fan Xiaoyan Deng 2019Medicine in Novel Technology and Devices2019,,3:0
