2Stress changes on major faults caused by M_w7.9 Wenchuan earthquake,May 12,2008显示文摘On May 12,2008,a magnitude 7.9 earthquake ruptured the Longmenshan fault system in Sichuan Province,China,collapsing buildings and killing tens of thousands people.As predicted,aftershocks may last for at least one year,and moreover,large aftershocks are likely to occur.Therefore,it is critical to outline the areas with potential aftershocks before reconstruction and resettling people as to avoid future disasters.It is demonstrated that the redistribution of stress induced by an earthquake should trigger successive seismic activity.Based on static stress triggering theory,we calculated the coseismic stress changes on major faults induced by the Wenchuan earthquake,with elastic dislocation the-ory and the multilayered crustal model.We also discuss the stress distribution and its significance for future seismic activity under the impact of the Wenchuan earthquake.It is shown that coulomb failure stress(CFS) increases obviously on the Daofu-Kangding segment of the Xianshuihe Fault,the Maqu and Nanping segment of the Eastern Kunlun Fault,the Qingchuan Fault,southern segment of the Min-jiang Fault,Pengxian-Guanxian Fault,Jiangyou-Guangyuan Fault,and Jiangyou-Guanxian Fault.The increased stress raises the probability of earthquake occurrence on these faults.Since these areas are highly populated,earthquake monitoring and early disaster alarm system are needed.CFS increases with a magnitude of 0.03―0.06 MPa on the Qingchuan Fault,which is close to the northern end of the rapture of Wenchuan earthquake.The occurrence of some strong aftershocks,including three events with magnitude higher than 5.0,indicates that the seismic activities have been triggered by the main shock.Aftershocks seem to migrate northwards.Since the CFS change on the Lueyang-Mianxian Fault located on the NEE of the Qingchuan Fault is rather small(±0.01 MPa),the migration of aftershocks might be terminated in the area near Hanzhong City.The CFS change on the western Qinling Fault is around 10 Pa,and the impact of static triggering can be neglected.The increment of CFS on the Pengxian-Guanxian Fault and Beichuan-Yingxiu Fault southwest to the main rupture is 0.005―0.015 MPa,which would facilitate earthquake triggering in these areas.Very few aftershocks in these areas indicate that the accumulated stress has not been released sufficiently.High seismic risk is predicated in these areas due to coseismic CFS loading.The Wenchuan earthquake released the accumulated CFS on the Fubianhe Fault,the Huya Fault,the Ha'nan-Qingshanwan Fault,and the Diebu-Bailongjiang Fault.The decrement of CFS changes on the Longquanshan Fault east to Chengdu City is about 0.002 MPa.The seismic activity will be depressed by decrement of CFS on these faults.SHAN Bin XIONG Xiong ZHENG Yong DIAO FaQi 2009Science China Earth Sciences2009,52,5:47

4Stress changes on major faults caused by 2013 Lushan earthquake and its relationship with 2008 Wenchuan earthquake显示文摘On April 20, 2013, an Ms7.0 earthquake occurred in Ya'an-Lushan region, Sichuan Province, China, killing and injuring morethan one thousand people. Therefore, it is critical to outline the areas with potential aftershocks before reconstruction andre-settlement as to avoid future disasters. Based on the elastic dislocation theory and multi-layered lithospheric model, we calculate the co-and post-seismic stress changes caused by the Wenchuan and Lushan earthquakes to discuss the relationshipbetween Mw7.9 Wenchuan earthquake and Ms7.0 Lushan earthquake, the influences on the distribution of aftershock caused bythe Lushan earthquake, and the stress changes on major faults in this region. It is shown that the Coulomb failure stress increment on the hypocenter of Lushan earthquake caused by the Wenchuan earthquake is about 0.0037-0.0113 MPa. And the possible maximum value (0.0113 MPa) is larger than the threshold of stress triggering. Therefore, the occurrence of Lushanearthquake is probably effectively promoted by the Wenchuan earthquake. The aftershock distribution is well explained by theco-seismic stress changes of Lushan earthquake. By the two ends of the rupture of Lushan earthquake with increased Coulombfailure stress, a lack of aftershock recordings indicates the high seismic hazard. 5Extract of Naotaifang, a compound Chinese herbal medicine, protects neuron ferroptosis induced by acute cerebral ischemia in rats显示文摘Objective:Our previous research showed that Naotaifang(a compound traditional Chinese herbal medicine)extract(NTE)has clinically beneficial effects on neurological improvement of patients with acute cerebral ischemia.In this study,we investigated whether NTE protected acute brain injury in rats and whether its effects on ferroptosis could be linked to the dysfunction of glutathione peroxidase 4(GPX4)and iron metabolism.Methods:We established an acute brain injury model of middle cerebral artery occlusion(MCAO)in rats,in which we could observe the accumulation of iron in neurons,as detected by Perl’s staining.Using assay kits,we measured expression levels of ferroptosis biomarkers,such as iron,glutathione(GSH),reactive oxygen species(ROS)and malonaldehyde(MDA);further the expression levels of transferrin receptor1(TFR1),divalent metal transporter 1(DMT1),solute carrier family 7 member 11(SLC7 A11)and GPX4 were determined using immunohistochemical analysis,real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction and Western blot assays.Results:We found that treatment with NTE reduced the expression levels of TFR1 and DMT1,reduced ROS,MDA and iron accumulation and reduced neurobehavioral scores,relative to untreated MCAO rats.Treatment with NTE increased the expression levels of SLC7 A11,GPX4 and GSH,and the number of Nissl bodies in the MCAO rats.Conclusion:Taken together,our data suggest that acute cerebral ischemia induces neuronal ferroptosis and the effects of treating MCAO rats with NTE involved inhibition of ferroptosis through the TFR1/DMT1 and SCL7 A11/GPX4 pathways.Bin Lan Jin-wen Ge Shao-wu Cheng Xi-long Zheng Jun Liao Chao He Zheng-qing Rao Guo-zuo Wang 2020Journal of Integrative Medicine2020,18,4:37

9Changes of Antioxidative Enzymes and Lipid Peroxidation in Leaves and Roots of Waterlogging-Tolerant and Waterlogging-Sensitive Maize Genotypes at Seedling Stage显示文摘To better understand the physiological and biochemical mechanisms of waterlogging tolerance, waterlogging effects on lipid peroxidation and the activity of antioxidative enzymes were investigated in leaves and roots of two maize genotypes, HZ32 (waterlogging-tolerant) and K12 (waterlogging-sensitive). Potted maize plants were waterlogged at the second leaf stage under glasshouse conditions. Leaves and roots were harvested 1 d before and 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 d after the start of waterlogging treatment. Through comparing the activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD), ascorbate peroxidase (APX), glutathione reductase (GR), catalase (CAT) and guaiacol peroxidase (POD) between waterlogging-tolerant and waterloggingsensitive genotype, we deduced that CAT was the most important H2O2 scavenging enzyme in leaves, while APX seemed to play a key role in roots. POD, APX, GR and CAT activities in conjunction with SOD seem to play an essential protective role in the O2-. and H2O2 scavenging process. Lipid peroxidation was enhanced significantly only in K12 (P < 0.001) and there was no difference (P > 0.05) in HZ32 up to 6 d after waterlogging stress. 10Effects of dietary Clostridium butyricum supplementation on growth performance,intestinal development,and immune response of weaned piglets challenged with lipopolysaccharide显示文摘Background: Weanling pigs, with immature immune system and physiological function, usually experience postweaning diarrhea. This study determined the effects of dietary Clostridium butyricum supplementation on growth performance, diarrhea, and immunity of weaned pigs challenged with lipopolysaccharide(LPS).Methods: In Experiment(Exp.) 1,144 weaned piglets were weaned at 21 d and randomly assigned to six groups,with six replicates per group and four pigs per replicate, receiving a control diet(CON) or diet supplemented with antibiotics(AB) or C. butyricum(CB)(0.1%, 0.2%, 0.4%, or 0.8%), respectively. All diets in Exp. 1 were a highly digestible basal diet, with 3,000 mg/kg zinc oxide supplied in the first 2 wk only. In Exp. 2, 180 piglets were weaned at 21 d and randomly assigned to five groups, with six replicates per group and six pigs per replicate, receiving CON, AB, or CB(0.2%, 0.4%, or 0.6%) diets. The digestibility of diets was lower than those in Exp. 1, and did not include zinc oxide. At 36 d of Exp. 2, 12 piglets were selected from each of the CON and 0.4% CB groups, six piglets were intraperitoneally injected with LPS(50 μg/kg body weight) and the other six piglets with normal saline;animals were killed at 4 h after injection to collect blood, intestine, and digesta samples for biochemical analysis.Results: In Exp. 1, CB and AB diets had no effect on growth performance of piglets. In Exp. 2, 0.4% CB decreased feed-gain ratio(P < 0.1), diarrhea score(P < 0.05), and increased duodenal, jejunal, and ileal villus height and jejunal villus height/crypt depth(P < 0.05). The 0.4% CB decreased the plasma tumor necrosis factor(TNF) α(P < 0.05) but increased ileal mucosa IL-10 and TLR2 mRNA expression(P < 0.05). Furthermore, 0.4% CB altered the microbial profile, with Bacillus and Ruminococcaceae UGG-003 at genus level and Lactobacillus casei and Parasutterella secunda at species level were higher than CON in colonic content(P < 0.05).Conclusions: Dietary C. butyricum supplementation had positive effects on growth of weaned piglets with less digestible diets. There was a tendency to reduce the feed-gain ratio, which could reduce feed costs in pig production. 14Long-term outcomes and independent predictors of mortality in patients presenting to emergency departments with acute heart failure in Beijing:a multicenter cohort study with a 5-year follow-up显示文摘Background:Acute heart failure(AHF)is the most common disease in emergency departments(EDs).However,clinical data exploring the outcomes of patients presenting AHF in EDs are limited,especially the long-term outcomes.The purposes of this study were to describe the long-term outcomes of patients with AHF in the EDs and further analyze their prognostic factors.Methods:This prospective,multicenter,cohort study consecutively enrolled 3335 patients with AHF who were admitted to EDs of 14 hospitals from Beijing between January 1,2011 and September 23,2012.Kaplan-Meier and Cox regression analysis were adopted to evaluate 5-year outcomes and associated predictors.Results:The 5-year mortality and cardiovascular death rates were 55.4%and 49.6%,respectively.The median overall survival was 34 months.Independent predictors of 5-year mortality were patient age(hazard ratio[HR]:1.027,95 confidence interval[CI]:1.023-1.030),body mass index(BMI)(HR:0.971,95%CI:0.958-0.983),fatigue(HR:1.127,95%CI:1.009-1.258),ascites(HR:1.190,95%CI:1.057-1.340),hepatic jugular reflux(HR:1.339,95%CI:1.140-1.572),New York Heart Association(NYHA)class III to IV(HR:1.511,95%CI:1.291-1.769),heart rate(HR:1.003,95%CI:1.001-1.005),diastolic blood pressure(DBP)(HR:0.996,95%CI:0.993-0.999),blood urea nitrogen(BUN)(HR:1.014,95%CI:1.008-1.020),B-type natriuretic peptide(BNP)/N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide(NT-proBNP)level in the third(HR:1.426,95%CI:1.220-1.668)or fourth quartile(HR:1.437,95%CI:1.223-1.690),serum sodium(HR:0.980,95%CI:0.972-0.988),serum albumin(HR:0.981,95%CI:0.971-0.992),ischemic heart diseases(HR:1.195,95%CI:1.073-1.331),primary cardiomyopathy(HR:1.382,95%CI:1.183-1.614),diabetes(HR:1.118,95%CI:1.010-1.237),stroke(HR:1.252,95%CI:1.121-1.397),and the use of diuretics(HR:0.714,95%CI:0.626-0.814),(3-blockers(HR:0.673,95%CI:0.588-0.769),angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors(ACEIs)(HR:0.714,95%CI:0.604-0.845),angiotensin-II receptor blockers(ARBs)(HR:0.790,95%CI:0.646-0.965),spironolactone(HR:0.814,95%CI:0.663-0.999),calcium antagonists(HR:0.624,95%CI:0.531-0.733),nitrates(HR:0.715,95%CI:0.631-0.811),and digoxin(HR:0.579,95%CI:0.465-0.721).Conclusions:The results of our study demonstrate poor 5-year outcomes of patients presenting to EDs with AHF.Age,BMI,fatigue,ascites,hepatic jugular reflux,NYHA class III to IV,heart rate,DBP,BUN,BNP/NT-proBNP level in the third or fourth quartile,serum sodium,serum albumin,ischemic heart diseases,primary cardiomyopathy,diabetes,stroke,and the use of diuretics,P-blockers,ACEIs,ARBs,spironolactone,calcium antagonists,nitrates,and digoxin were independently associated with 5-year all-cause mortality.Yang Li Xiao-Lu Sun Hong Qiu Jian Qin Chun-Sheng Li Xue-Zhong Yu Guo-Xing Wang Yan Fu Ya-An Zheng Bin Zhao Dong-Ming Yu Si-Jia Wang Guo-Gan Wang 2021Chinese Medical Journal2021,,15:18
15Rhizobacterium Bacillus amyloliquefaciens Strain SQRT3-Mediated Induced Systemic Resistance Controls Bacterial Wilt of Tomato显示文摘Tomato bacterial wilt caused by Ralstonia solanacearum seriously threats tomato growth in tropical and temperate regions around the world.This study reported an antagonistic bacterial strain, Bacillus amyloliquefaciens strain SQRT3, isolated from the rhizosphere soil of tomato plants, which strongly inhibited in vitro growth of pathogenic R.solanacearum.The suppression of tomato bacterial wilt by strain SQRT3 was demonstrated under greenhouse conditions.Additionally, induced systemic resistance(ISR) in tomato as one of the potential disease suppression mechanisms was investigated in the plants inoculated with the isolated bacterial strain SQRT3.The results showed that strain SQRT3 applied with R.solanacearum by drenching significantly reduced tomato bacterial wilt by 68.1% biocontrol efficiency(BE) and suppressed the R.solanacearum populations in the rhizosphere soil compared to the control only drenched with R.solanacearum.The BE of the isolated bacterial strain SQRT3 against tomato wilt increased to 84.1%by root-dipping.Tomato plants treated with both strain SQRT3 and R.solanacearum showed increases in activities of peroxidase and polyphenol oxidase compared with other treatments.The application of strain SQRT3 reduced membrane lipid peroxidation in tomato leaves.The expressions of marker genes for jasmonic acid-and salicylic acid-dependent signaling pathways were faster and stronger in tomato plants treated with both strain SQRT3 and R.solanacearum than in plants treated with either R.solanacearum or strain SQRT3 alone.Collectively, the findings indicated that strain SQRT3 can effectively control tomato wilt.LI Chunyu HU Weicong PAN Bin LIU Yan YUAN Saifei DING Yuanyuan LI Rong ZHENG Xinyan SHEN Biao SHEN Qirong 2017Pedosphere2017,27,6:18
16LGR5 is a promising biomarker for patients with stage Ⅰ and Ⅱ gastric cancer显示文摘Objective: To investigate Leucine-rich repeat-containing G protein-coupled receptor 5 (LGR5) expressions in gastric cancer and to evaluate its clinical significance. Methods: LGR5 expression was assessed by immunohistochemistry in 257 gastric cancer patients after surgery. The relationships between LGR5 expression and clinicopathological features and patients prognosis were statistically analyzed. Results: The expression of LGR5 was significantly higher in gastric cancers as a cancer stem cell marker than in adjacent normal tissues (P<0.001), and more frequently in patients with intestinal type, well-moderate differentiation and stage Ⅰ and Ⅱ (P<0.05). Although we found gastric cancer patients with LGR5 positive expression had a poorer prognosis, it didn't meet statistical significance (P>0.05). LGR5 negative expression was significantly related to the favorable overall survival in stage Ⅰ and Ⅱ gastric cancer patients (P<0.05). Furthermore, patients with high LGR5 expression tended to be more likely to get progression and have poorer progress-free survival (P<0.05). Multivariate Cox regression analysis revealed that LGR5 expression was an independent factor of overall survival for the patients with stage Ⅰ and Ⅱ gastric cancer (P<0.05). 17Numerical simulation of powder transport behavior in laser cladding with coaxial powder feeding显示文摘Laser cladding with coaxial powder feeding is one of the new processes applied to produce well bonding coating on the component to improve performance of its surface. In the process, the clad material is transported by the carrying gas through the coaxial nozzle, generating gas-powder flow. The powder feeding process in the coaxial laser cladding has important influence on the clad qualities. A 3D numerical model was developed to study the powder stream structure of a coaxial feeding nozzle. The predicted powder stream structure was well agreed with the experimental one. The validated model was used to explore the collision behavior of particles in the coaxial nozzle, as well as powder concentration distribution. It was found that the particle diameter and restitution coefficient greatly affect the velocity vector at outlet of nozzle due to the collisions, as well as the powder stream convergence characteristics below the nozzle. 18High-speed femtosecond laser plasmonic lithography and reduction of graphene oxide for anisotropic photoresponse显示文摘Micro/nanoprocessing of graphene surfaces has attracted significant interest for both science and applications due to its effective modulation of material properties,which,however,is usually restricted by the disadvantages of the current fabrication methods.Here,by exploiting cylindrical focusing of a femtosecond laser on graphene oxide(GO)films,we successfully produce uniform subwavelength grating structures at high speed along with a simultaneous in situ photoreduction process.Strikingly,the well-defined structures feature orientations parallel to the laser polarization and significant robustness against distinct perturbations.The proposed model and simulations reveal that the structure formation is based on the transverse electric(TE)surface plasmons triggered by the gradient reduction of the GO film from its surface to the interior,which eventually results in interference intensity fringes and spatially periodic interactions.Further experiments prove that such a regular structured surface can cause enhanced optical absorption(>20%)and an anisotropic photoresponse(~0.46 ratio)for the reduced GO film.Our work not only provides new insights into understanding the laser-GO interaction but also lays a solid foundation for practical usage of femtosecond laser plasmonic lithography,with the prospect of expansion to other two-dimensional materials for novel device applications.Tingting Zou Bo Zhao Wei Xin Ye Wang Bin Wang Xin Zheng Hongbo Xie Zhiyu Zhang Jianjun Yang Chunlei Guo 2020Light(Science & Applications)2020,9,1:17
19RPPK modulation with high data rates显示文摘With the development of communication technology, the precious frequency spectrum is becoming more and more crowded. Exploiting the particular filter with zero group delay, ultra narrow band (UNB) modulation is intended for acquiring the high frequency efficiency. Unfortunately, this UNB filter is confronted with great challenges from the classical communication theories. The validation on its realization is also difficult. This paper proposes a novel UNB modulation, namely random pulse position keying (RPPK). It is demonstrated from analysis that there is no inessential discrete spectral line in modulated signal’s power density spectrum (PDS), and the UNB filter has been successfully avoided. Consequently, RPPK is rather explicit in theory and simple in implementation. As is shown by the simulation, the frequency utilization of RPPK can even reach 100 bits/s/Hz. Its optimum receiving performance is slightly inferior to BPSK, yet is much superior to that of other UNB modulations such as VMSK/2. 20Screening Methods for Waterlogging Tolerance at Maize (Zea mays L.) Seedling Stage显示文摘Waterlogging strongly affects agronomic performance of maize (Zea mays L.). In order to investigate the suitable selection criteria of waterflooding tolerant genotypes, and identify the most susceptible stage and the best continuous treatment time to waterlogging, 20 common maize inbred lines were subjected to successive artificial waterflooding at seedling stage, and waterlogging tolerance coefficient (WTC) was used to screen waterflooding tolerant genotypes. In addition, peroxidase (POD) activities and malondialdehyde (MDA) contents were measured for 6 of 20 lines. The results showed that the second leaf stage (V2) was the most susceptible stage, and 6 d after waterflooding was the best continuous treatment time. Dry weight (DW) of both shoots and roots of all lines were significantly reduced at 6 d time-point of waterlogging, compared to control. POD activities and MDA contents were negatively and significantly correlated, and the correlation coefficient was -0.9686 (P < 0.0001). According to the results, WTC of shoot DW can be used for practical screening as a suitable index, which is significantly different from control and waterlogged plants happened 6 d earlier. Furthermore, leaf chlorosis, MDA content and POD activities could also be used as reference index for material screening.
