1Sodium fluoride induces apoptosis through reactive oxygen species-mediated endoplasmic reticulum stress pathway in Sertoli cells显示文摘Excessive fluoride exposure is known to contribute to reproductive system dysfunction,ultimately leading to pathological damage and apoptosis in cells. Although both oxidative and endoplasmic reticulum(ER) stresses have been implicated in fluorosis, the signaling pathways and their roles in sodium fluoride(Na F)-induced apoptosis of Sertoli cells have been sparsely described. In this study, oxidative damage, ER stress, and apoptosis were analyzed after Sertoli cells were treated with varying doses of Na F for 24 hr. Moreover, the antioxidant N-acetylcysteine(NAC) and pro-apoptotic transcription factor CHOP knockdown were used to clarify the precise interplay between reactive oxygen species(ROS), ER stress and their roles in NaF-induced apoptosis in Sertoli cells. The present study indicated that NaF significantly decreased cell viability and induced apoptosis in Sertoli cells. In addition, NaF exposure facilitated the accumulation of ROS and increased nuclear translocation of nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2(Nrf2) in Sertoli cells. Treatment with NAC caused remarkable recovery from these NaF-induced responses. Meanwhile, excessive NaF triggered ER stress as evidenced by up-regulated glucose-regulated protein 78 k Da(GRP78), PKR-like ER kinase(PERK), phosphorylation of eukaryotic translation initiation factor 2α(p-eI F2α) and CCAAT/enhancer-binding protein-homologous protein(CHOP), without affecting total eukaryotic translation initiation factor 2α(e IF2α). NAC effectively blocked the activation of ER stress, suggesting that Na F-induced ROS is an early event that triggers ER stress. 2Preparation of nano-sized Al_2O_3-2SiO_2 powder by sol-gel plus azeotropic distillation method显示文摘Nano-sized amorphous Al 2 O 3 -2SiO 2 powder was prepared by a sol-gel method coupled with azeotropic distillation. The structure of the powder was investigated by DTS, BET, TEM, FT-IR, TG-DTA and XRD, showing that n-butanol azeotropic distillation could effectively remove water from the aluminosilicate gels and prevent the formation of hard agglomerates in the drying process. The average particle diameter of the powder was about 70 nm. The largest BET specific surface area of the powder was 669 m 2 /g. To examine the alkali-activation reactivity of the powder, alkali-activation tests were performed with the powder reacting with sodium silicate solution. 3Alkali-activation reactivity of chemosynthetic Al_2O_3-2SiO_2 powders and their ^(27)Al and ^(29)Si magic-angle spinning nuclear magnetic resonance spectra显示文摘Pure Al_2O_3-2SiO_2 powders were prepared by sol-gel and coprecipitation methods,and their alkaliactivation reactivities were compared.The alkali-activation reactivity of the powder prepared by the sol-gel method was higher than that of the powder prepared by the coprecipitation method.The powders were investigated by ^(27)AI and ^(29)Si magic-angle spinning nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy(MAS NMR) to understand the relationship between their structure and alkali-activation reactivity.The ^(27)Al MAS NMR data showed that the five-coordinate AI content of the powder prepared by the sol-gel method was higher than that of the powder prepared by coprecipitation.The higher content of five-coordinate Al corresponded to higher alkali-activation reactivity.The ^(29)Si MAS NMR data showed that for the powder prepared by the sol-gel method,silicon was replaced by aluminum at secondary coordination sites of the central Si atoms during calcination.However,for the powder prepared by single-batch coprecipitation,the main change was from a low degree of polycondensation to a high degree of polycondensation.Guangjian Zheng Xuemin Cui Dong Huang Jinying Pang Guowei Mo Shujuan Yu Zhangfa Tong 2015Particuology2015,13,5:3
4A stage-specific cell-manipulation platform for inducing endothelialization on demand显示文摘Endothelialization is of great significance for vascular remodeling,as well as for the success of implanted vascular grafts/stents in cardiovascular disease treatment.However,desirable endothelialization on synthetic biomaterials remains greatly challenging owing to extreme difficulty in offering dynamic guidance on endothelial cell(EC)functions resembling the native extracellular matrix-mediated effects.Here,we demonstrate a bilayer platform with near-infrared-triggered transformable topographies,which can alter the geometries and functions of human ECs by tunable topographical cues in a remote-controlled manner,yet cause no damage to the cell viability.The migration and the adhesion/spreading of human ECs are respectively promoted by the temporary anisotropic and permanent isotropic topographies of the platform in turn,which appropriately meet the requirements of stage-specific EC manipulation for endothelialization.In addition to the potential of promoting the development of a new generation of vascular grafts/stents enabling rapid endothelialization,this stage-specific cell-manipulation platform also holds promise in various biomedical fields,since the needs for stepwise control over different cell functions are common in wound healing and various tissue-regeneration processes.Qilong Zhao Juan Wang Yunlong Wang Huanqing Cui Xuemin Du 2020National Science Review2020,7,3:3
5Wind regime for long-ridge yardangs in the Qaidam Basin, Northwest China显示文摘Yardangs are typical aeolian erosion landforms,which are attracting more and more attention of geomorphologists and geologists for their various morphology and enigmatic formation mechanisms.In order to clarify the aeolian environments that influence the development of long-ridge yardangs in the northwestern Qaidam Basin of China,the present research investigated the winds by installing wind observation tower in the field.We found that the sand-driving winds mainly blow from the north-northwest,northwest and north,and occur the most frequent in summer,because the high temperature increases atmospheric instability and leads to downward momentum transfer and active local convection during these months.The annual drift potential and the ratio of resultant drift potential indicate that the study area pertains to a high-energy wind environment and a narrow unimodal wind regime.The wind energy decreases from northwest to southeast in the Qaidam Basin,with the northerly winds in the northwestern basin changing to more westerly in the southeastern basin.The strong and unidirectional wind regime for the long-ridge yardangs in the northwestern Qaidam Basin results from the combined effects of topographic obstacles such as the Altun Mountains and of the interaction between the air stream and the yardang bodies.Present study suggests that yardang evolution needs such strong and unidirectional winds in high-or intermediate-energy wind environments.This differs from sandy deserts or sandy lands,which usually develop at low-or intermediate-energy wind environments.Present study clarifies the wind regime corresponding to the long-ridge yardangs'development,and lays firm foundation to put forward the formation mechanisms for yardangs in the Qaidam Basin.GAO Xuemin DONG Zhibao DUAN Zhenghu LIU Min CUI Xujia LI Jiyan 2019Journal of Arid Land2019,11,5:3
6Microstructure,texture evolution and yield strength symmetry improvement of as-extruded ZK60 Mg alloy via multi-directional impact forging显示文摘Multi-direction impact forging(MDIF)was applied to the as-extruded ZK60 Mg alloy,and the microstructure,texture evolution and yield strength symmetry were investigated in the current study.The results showed that the average grain size of forged piece was greatly refined to 5.3μm after 120 forging passes,which was ascribed to the segmenting effect of{10–12}twins and the subsequent multiple rounds of dynamic recrystallization(DRX).A great deal of{10–12}twins were activated at the beginning of MDIF process,which played an important role in grain refinement.With forging proceeding,continuous and discontinuous DRX were successively activated,resulting in the fully DRXed microstructure.Meanwhile,the forged piece exhibited a unique four-peak texture,and the initial<10-10>//ED fiber texture component gradually evolved into multiple texture components composed of<0001>//FFD(first forging direction)and<11–20>//FFD texture.The special strain path was the key to the formation of the unique four-peak texture.The{10–12}twinning and basal slip were two dominant factors to the evolution of texture during MDIF process.Grain strengthening and dislocation strengthening were two main strengthening mechanisms of the forged piece.Besides,the symmetry of yield strength was greatly improved by MDIF process.Chao Cui Wencong Zhang Wenzhen Chen Jian He Xuemin Chen Jiabin Hou 2022Journal of Magnesium and Alloys2022,10,10:2

11Light control of droplets on photo-induced charged surfaces显示文摘The manipulation of droplets plays a vital role in fundamental research and practical applications,from chemical reactions to bioanalysis.As an intriguing and active format,light control of droplets,typically induced by photochemistry,photomechanics,light-induced Marangoni effects or light-induced electric fields,enables remote and contactless control with remarkable spatial and temporal accuracy.However,current light control of droplets suffers from poor performance and limited reliability.Here we develop a new superamphiphobic material that integrates the dual merits of light and electric field by rationally preparing liquid metal particles/poly(vinylidene fluoride-trifluoroethylene)polymer composites with photo-induced charge generation capability in real time,enabling light control of droplets on the basis of photo-induced dielectrophoretic force.We demonstrate that this photo-induced charged surface(PICS)imparts a new paradigm for controllable droplet motion,including high average velocity(~35.9 mm s^(-1)),unlimited distance,multimode motions(e.g.forward,backward and rotation)and single-to-multiple droplet manipulation,which are otherwise unachievable in conventional strategies.We further extend light control of droplets to robotic and bio-applications,including transporting a solid cargo in a closed tube,crossing a tiny tunnel,avoiding obstacles,sensing the changing environment via naked-eye color shift,preparing hydrogel beads,transporting living cells and reliable biosensing.Our PICS not only provides insight into the development of new smart interface materials and microfluidics,but also brings new possibilities for chemical and biomedical applications.Fang Wang Meijin Liu Cong Liu Chao Huang Lidong Zhang Anyang Cui Zhigao Hu Xuemin Du 2023National Science Review2023,10,1:1

19Spontaneous migration induced Co nanokarstcave encapsulated in N-doped carbon hybrids for efficient oxygen electrocatalyst显示文摘Despite the extensive application of porous nanostructures as oxygen electrocatalysts, it is challenging to synthesize single-metal state materials with porous structures, especially the ultrasmall ones due to the uniform diffusion of the same metal. Herein, we pioneer demonstrate a new size effect-based controllable synthesis strategy for the homogeneous Co nanokarstcaves assisted by Co-CN hybrids (CCHs). The preferential migration of cobalt atoms on the surface of small size zeolitic imidazolate framework (ZIF) with high surface energy during pyrolysis is the key factor for the formation of nanokarstcave structure. Furthermore, graphene can act as a diffusion barrier to prevent the agglomeration of nanoparticles in the synthesis process, which also plays an important role in the formation of porous nanostructures.
