2Tumor budding as a potential histopathological biomarker in colorectal cancer:Hype or hope?显示文摘Colorectal cancer(CRC),the third most commonly diagnosed type of cancer in men and women worldwide is recognized as a complex multi-pathway disease,an observation sustained by the fact that histologically identical tumors may have different outcome,including various response to therapy.Therefore,particularly in early and intermediate stage(stages Ⅱ and Ⅲ,respectively) CRC,there is a compelling need for biomarkers helpful of selecting patients with aggressive disease that might benefit from adjuvant and targeted therapy.Histopathological examination shows that likely other solid tumors the development and progression of human CRC is not only determined by genetically abnormal cells,but also by intricate interactions between malignant cells and the surrounding microenvironment.This has led to reconsider the features of tumor microenvironment as potential predictive and prognostic biomarkers.Among the histopathological biomarkers,tumor budding(i.e.,the presence of individual cells and small clusters of tumor cells at the tumor invasive front) has received much recent attention,particularly in the setting of CRC.Although its acceptance as a reportable factor has been held back by a lack of uniformity with respect to qualitative and quantitative aspects,tumor budding is now considered as an independent adverse prognostic factor in CRC that may allow for stratification of patients into risk categories more meaningful than those defined by tumor-node-metastasis staging alone,and also potentially guide treatment decisions,especially in T2-T3 N0(stage Ⅱ) CRCs.Fabio Grizzi Giuseppe Celesti Gianluca Basso Luigi Laghi 2012World Journal of Gastroenterology2012,18,45:8

4Birthrates and delay times of Type Ia supernovae显示文摘Type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia) play an important role in diverse areas of astrophysics, from the chemical evolution of galaxies to observational cosmology. However, the nature of the progenitors of SNe Ia is still unclear. In this paper, according to a detailed binary population synthesis study, we obtained SN Ia birthrates and delay times from different progenitor models, and compared them with observations. We find that the Galactic SN Ia birthrate from the double-degenerate (DD) model is close to those inferred from observations, while the birthrate from the single-degenerate (SD) model accounts for only about 1/2-2/3 of the observations. 5Overview of priorities,threats,and challenges to biodiversity conservation in the southern Philippines显示文摘Human activities have severely impacted on many species and ecosystems.Thus,understanding the local biodiversity situation is crucial for implementing effective biodiversity conservation interventions.Mindanao in the southern Philippines is home to various unique species,particularly in its pristine ecosystems.However,the available biodiversity data for many terrestrial vertebrates and key areas remain incomplete.To address this issue,we synthesized published literature related to biodiversity from 2000 to 2022 in Mindanao.Moreover,this analysis used four key terrestrial vertebrates(amphibians,reptiles,birds,and mammals)in Mindanao as research objects.According to our findings,there was a significant and positive correlation between the number of biodiversity studies and species recorded.In terms of species richness,birds were the most recorded group(n=334 spp.),followed by reptiles(n=108 spp.),mammals(n=70 spp.),and amphibians(n=52 spp.).We also found that the number of endemic and threatened species varies geographically and across taxonomic groups.Yet,we discovered a significant disparity in the information available on biodiversity in different provinces of Mindanao.For example,the western provinces of Mindanao have had no record of biodiversity for more than two decades.Furthermore,we found that the changes in tree cover loss were consistent with biodiversity records,but this correlation is only significant for birds.Finally,we highlighted some critical threats and challenges to biodiversity,including deforestation,agricultural expansion,mining,and their impact on biodiversity conservation in Mindanao.Our findings suggested that biodiversity conservation should focus not only on areas with high levels of biodiversity but also on areas lacking biodiversity information.To do this,we call for strengthening collaboration among various institutions and digitizing and centralizing of information related to biodiversity.By gaining a deeper understanding of biodiversity in Mindanao,we can better and sustainably protect critical ecosystems in this region from the increasing threats posed by human activities.Angelo Rellama AGDUMA Francisco Gil GARCIA Ma.Teodora CABASAN Jonald PIMENTEL Renee Jane ELE Meriam RUBIO Sedra MURRAY Bona Abigail HILARIO-HUSAIN Kier Celestial Dela CRUZ Sumaira ABDULLAH Shiela Mae BALASE Krizler Cejuela TANALGO 2023Regional Sustainability2023,4,2:1

18Avoided crossings between non-radial modes in low mass RGB stars显示文摘Non-radial p modes and g modes appear simultaneously in red giant stars. Their frequencies have different variation rates,causing their frequencies to become close during stellar evolution so that avoided crossings appear.The separation between regions where acoustic waves and gravity waves propagate for l=1,2 and 3 is different,which results in the coupling efficiency also being different.We present the results of numerical computations of the models we study.We find that the two kinds of modes for l=2 and 3 need to be closer in frequency in order for a complete exchange to occur,compared to the case for modes with l=1.Their scaled oscillation frequencies also present better regularity with evolution than modes with l=1. In order to study the effect of the avoided crossings in detail,we set the mode which has the smallest mode inertia to be the p mode.We plot the two kinds of modes for l =1,2 and 3 in frequency and periodéchelle diagrams and find modes of l=2 and 3 fit the two relations better;they are more equally spaced in frequency and period than modes with l=1.Under careful observation of the two kinds oféchelle diagrams for l=2 and 3,we still find that some p modes shift a little from being equally spaced in frequency and some g modes,which are close to those p modes in period,shift a little from being equally spaced in period.Then,we study the relation between the deviation from period being equally spaced and the mode inertia of g modes for different l.The g modes of l=1 with a period closer to the p mode have less inertia and the deviation is bigger in the periodéchelle diagram.Their deviation is also obvious.
