| 2 | Impact of dissolved organic matter on the photolysis of the ionizable antibiotic norfloxacin显示文摘Norfloxacin(NOR), an ionizable antibiotic frequently used in the aquaculture industry, has aroused public concern due to its persistence, bacterial resistance, and environmental ubiquity.Therefore, we investigated the photolysis of different species of NOR and the impact of a ubiquitous component of natural water — dissolved organic matter(DOM), which has a special photochemical activity and normally acts as a sensitizer or inhibiter in the photolysis of diverse organics; furthermore, scavenging experiments combined with electron paramagnetic resonance(EPR) were performed to evaluate the transformation of NOR in water. The results demonstated that NOR underwent direct photolysis and self-sensitized photolysis via hydroxyl radical(U OH) and singlet oxygen(1O2) based on the scavenging experiments. In addition, DOM was found to influence the photolysis of different NOR species, and its impact was related to the concentration of DOM and type of NOR species. Photolysis of cationic NOR was photosensitized by DOM at low concentration, while zwitterionic and anionic NOR were photoinhibited by DOM, where quenching of U OH predominated according to EPR experiments, accompanied by possible participation of excited triplet-state NOR and1O2. Photo-intermediate identification of different NOR species in solutions with/without DOM indicated that NOR underwent different photodegradation pathways including dechlorination, cleavage of the piperazine side chain and photooxidation, and DOM had little impact on the distribution but influenced the concentration evolution of photolysis intermediates. | 7 | Twistor-based synchronous sliding mode control of spacecraft attitude and position显示文摘A synchronous control of relative attitude and position is required in separated ultraquiet spacecraft, such as drag-free, disturbance-free, and distributed spacecraft. Thus, a twistorbased synchronous sliding mode control is investigated in this paper to solve the control problem of relative attitude and position among separated spacecraft modules. The twistor-based control design and the stability proof are implemented using the Modified Rodrigues Parameter(MRP).To evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed control method, this paper presents a case study of separated spacecraft flying control considering the mass uncertainty and external disturbances. In addition, a simulation study of the Proportional-Derivative(PD) control is also presented for comparison. The results indicate that the twistor-based sliding mode controller can ensure global asymptotic stability. The states converge fast with ultra-precision and ultra-stability in both the attitude and position. | 12 | Probabilistic outlier detection for sparse multivariate geotechnical site investigation data using Bayesian learning显示文摘Various uncertainties arising during acquisition process of geoscience data may result in anomalous data instances(i.e.,outliers)that do not conform with the expected pattern of regular data instances.With sparse multivariate data obtained from geotechnical site investigation,it is impossible to identify outliers with certainty due to the distortion of statistics of geotechnical parameters caused by outliers and their associated statistical uncertainty resulted from data sparsity.This paper develops a probabilistic outlier detection method for sparse multivariate data obtained from geotechnical site investigation.The proposed approach quantifies the outlying probability of each data instance based on Mahalanobis distance and determines outliers as those data instances with outlying probabilities greater than 0.5.It tackles the distortion issue of statistics estimated from the dataset with outliers by a re-sampling technique and accounts,rationally,for the statistical uncertainty by Bayesian machine learning.Moreover,the proposed approach also suggests an exclusive method to determine outlying components of each outlier.The proposed approach is illustrated and verified using simulated and real-life dataset.It showed that the proposed approach properly identifies outliers among sparse multivariate data and their corresponding outlying components in a probabilistic manner.It can significantly reduce the masking effect(i.e.,missing some actual outliers due to the distortion of statistics by the outliers and statistical uncertainty).It also found that outliers among sparse multivariate data instances affect significantly the construction of multivariate distribution of geotechnical parameters for uncertainty quantification.This emphasizes the necessity of data cleaning process(e.g.,outlier detection)for uncertainty quantification based on geoscience data. | Shuo Zheng Yu-Xin Zhu Dian-Qing Li Zi-Jun Cao Qin-Xuan Deng Kok-Kwang Phoon | 2021 | Geoscience Frontiers2021,12,1: | 2 |

Loss of RICE INDETERMINATE1(RID1) function causes plants not to flower;thus, RID1 is considered a master switch among flowering-related genes. However, it remains unclear whether other proteins function together with RID1 to regulate rice floral transition.Here, we revealed that the chromatin accessibilityand H3 K9 ac, H3 K4 me3, and H3 K36 me3 levels at Heading date 3 a(Hd3 a) and RICE FLOWERING LOCUS T1(RFT1) loci were significantly reduced in rid1 mutants. Notably, RID1 interacted with SET DOMAIN GROUP PROTEIN 722(SDG722), a methyltransferase. We determined that SDG722 affects the global level of H3 K4 me2/3 and H3 K36 me2/3, and promotes flowering primarily through the Early heading date1-Hd3 a/RFT1 pathway. We further established that rice DELLA protein SLENDER RICE1(SLR1) interacted with RID1 to inhibit its transactivation activity, that SLR1 suppresses rice flowering, and that messenger RNA and protein levels of SLR1 gradually decrease with plant growth. Furthermore, SLR1 competed with SDG722 for interaction with RID1. | 19 | Associations of early-life factors and indoor environmental exposure with asthma among children:a case-control study in Chongqing,China显示文摘Background Childhood asthma has substantial effects on children’s health.It is important to identify influencing factors in early life in the development of childhood asthma.We aim to evaluate the effects of early-life factors and indoor environmental exposure on childhood asthma in Chongqing,China.Method We designed a case-control study to enrol children with asthma aged 3 to<14 years old and controls in Chongqing,China.The“Children’s Early Life and Indoor Environment Survey”was used to collect the early-life factors and indoor environmental exposure of foetuses in utero and of infants during the first 3 years of life.A multivariate logistic regression model was used to evaluate the association between independent variables and childhood asthma and the interaction of early-life factors and environmental exposure.Results A total of 160 asthma cases and 247 controls were included in this study.The mean ages of the cases and controls were 5.53±1.88 and 5.72±2.34 years,respectively(P=0.192).Early-life factors and indoor environmental exposure were independently associated with childhood asthma.Infectious diseases of the respiratory system in children under 3 years old[adjusted odds ratio(OR)=5.76,95%confidence interval(CI)2.49-13.30],bedroom air conditioner use(adjusted OR=4.61,95%CI 1.45-14.64),and bedroom dampness/mould(adjusted OR=2.98,95%CI 1.54-5.75)ranked as the three most significant exposures associated with the risk of childhood asthma.Other factors associated with an increased risk of childhood asthma included second-hand smoke exposure in early life(adjusted OR=1.93,95%CI 1.24-3.00),neonatal pneumonia(adjusted OR=1.90,95%CI 1.05-3.42)and maternal allergic diseases during pregnancy(adjusted OR=2.13,95%CI 1.10-4.10).The interaction effects of child second-hand smoke exposure with other covariates were not found to be statistically significant.Conclusions Early-life factors and indoor environmental exposure are closely related to childhood asthma in Chongqing,China.Further interventions and management in the early life of children should be considered to prevent and control childhood asthma in Chongqing and similar cities. | Yun-Tian Deng Xue-Mei Li En-Mei Liu Wen-Kui Xiong Shuo Wang Rui Zhu Yu-Bin Ding Zhao-Hui Zhong | 2022 | World Journal of Pediatrics2022,18,3: | 2 |
