1Recent advances in nanorobotic manipulation inside scanning electron microscopes显示文摘A scanning electron microscope(SEM)provides real-time imaging with nanometer resolution and a large scanning area,which enables the development and integration of robotic nanomanipulation systems inside a vacuum chamber to realize simultaneous imaging and direct interactions with nanoscaled samples.Emerging techniques for nanorobotic manipulation during SEM imaging enable the characterization of nanomaterials and nanostructures and the prototyping/assembly of nanodevices.This paper presents a comprehensive survey of recent advances in nanorobotic manipulation,including the development of nanomanipulation platforms,tools,changeable toolboxes,sensing units,control strategies,electron beam-induced deposition approaches,automation techniques,and nanomanipulation-enabled applications and discoveries.The limitations of the existing technologies and prospects for new technologies are also discussed.Chaoyang Shi Devin K Luu Qinmin Yang Jun Liu Jun Chen Changhai Ru Shaorong Xie Jun Luo Ji Ge Yu Sun 2016Microsystems & Nanoengineering2016,2,1:4
2Clinicopathological features of giant cell carcinoma of the pancreas显示文摘BACKGROUND: Giant cell carcinoma of the pancreas (GCCP) as a tumor of high malignancy, large size, and inflammatory reaction occupies 2.1%-12.8% of all cases of pancreatic malignancies. This study was to analyze cases of GCCP collected in 8 years at our hospital in an attempt to describe some features of GCCP in Chinese people. METHODS: The clinicopathological features of 19 patients who had been pathologically diagnosed as having GCCP from 1021 patients with pancreatic malignancies collected by Pancreatic Disease Research Group (PDRG) of Chang- hai Hospital were retrospectively analyzed compared with those of 96 patients with common pancreatic carcinoma (PC) who were randomly selected from 1002 patients with pancreatic carcinoma. The differences of location, clinical symptoms, imagings, laboratory test, operation and the prognosis of these two groups were defined. RESULTS: Tumors in the head of the pancreas were found in 8 patients (42.1%), and those in the body or tail of the pancreas in 11 (57.9%). The initial symptom was abdomi- nal pain in most patients (57.9%). Abdominal pain (73.7%), dyspepsia (63.2%), weight loss (36.8%) but jaun- dice were common at the time of diagnosis. The abnormal rates of routine laboratory tests in the GCCP group were lower than those in the common PC group. The assay of tumor markers between the groups of GCCP and common PC was approximately the same. The sensitivity and accu- racy of ultrasonography, spiral computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging were considerably high. Large carcinoma in stage was seen in 9 patients or 47.4% of the GCCP group, a rate higher than that in the common PC group. Osteoid formation was found microscopically in some patients, and poorly differentiated tumor cells were found in most patients. The 1-year survival rate was 17.6%, which was lower than that in the common PC group. CONCLUSION: The clinicopathological features of GCCP are different from those of common PC. 3Enhanced osteoarthritis therapy by nanoengineered mesenchymal stem cells using biomimetic CuS nanoparticles loaded with plasmid DNA encoding TGF-β1显示文摘Mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs)therapy shows the potential benefits to relieve clinical symptoms of osteoarthritis(OA),but it is uncertain if it can repair articular cartilage lesions-the main pathology of OA.Here,we prepared biomimetic cupper sulfide@phosphatidylcholine(CuS@PC)nanoparticles(NPs)loaded with plasmid DNA(pDNA)encoding transforming growth factor-beta 1(TGF-β1)to engineer MSCs for enhanced OA therapy via cartilage regeneration.We found that the NPs not only promoted cell proliferation and migration,but also presented a higher pDNA transfection efficiency relative to commercial transfection reagent lipofectamine 3000.The resultant CuS/TGF-β1@PC NP-engineered MSCs(termed CTP-MSCs)were better than pure MSCs in terms of chondrogenic gene expression,glycosaminoglycan deposition and type II collagen formation,favoring cartilage repair.Further,CTP-MSCs inhibited extracellular matrix degradation in interleukin-1β-induced chondrocytes.Consequently,intraarticular administration of CTP-MSCs significantly enhanced the repair of damaged cartilage,whereas pure MSCs exhibited very limited effects on cartilage regeneration in destabilization of the medial meniscus(DMM)surgical instability mice.Hence,this work provides a new strategy to overcome the limitation of current stem cell therapy in OA treatment through developing more effective nanoengineered MSCs.Yu Cai Cuixi Wu Qianhua Ou Muhui Zeng Song Xue Jieli Chen Yao Lu Changhai Ding 2023Bioactive Materials2023,,1:2
4Experimental investigation on the spread of aqueous foam over ethanol surface显示文摘The presence of ethanol has an adverse effect on foam spreading,and ethanol fire is difficult to extinguish with aqueous fire-fighting foams.Thus,it is necessary to explore the foam formulation suitable for ethanol fuels and study the spreading behavior of foam over ethanol surface.In the current work,stable foams based on hydrocarbon surfactant(SDS),fluorocarbon surfactant(FC1157),and polymers(XG)were prepared by using the compressed-air foam system.The spreading behaviors of foam on polar ethanol and non-polar heptane surface were observed and compared.Furthermore,the effects of stabilizer concentrations,foam flow rates and expansion ratios on foam spreading performance were investigated,respectively.The results indicate that aqueous SDS foam can spread on the heptane layer continuously,but it is difficult to cover the ethanol surface.The addition of XG and FC1157 can synergistically improve the spreading performance of aqueous foam over ethanol.Depending on stabilizer concentrations,there are remarkable differences in foam spreading behaviors.Besides,different foam application parameters including expansion ratios and foam flow rates significantly affect the foam spreading rate,despite the same foam formulation.The research methods and results guide the optimal design of foam formulations as well as the practical application of aqueous foam for ethanol fire extinguishment.Xiaoyang Yu Fan Li Xuyang Miao Ning Jiang Ruowen Zong Shouxiang Lu Changhai Li State 2020Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2020,28,11:2
5Probiotic Cocktails Alleviate Heat-induced Intestinal Barrier Dysfunction and Oxidative Stress in Broiler Chickens显示文摘[Objective]To investigate the effect of probiotic cocktails on growth performance,intestinal barrier function and antioxidant status in heat-stressed broilers.[Methods]One thousand 1-day-old broilers were randomly divided into five groups:the thermoneutral(TN),heat stress(HS),heat stress with antibiotic(HS-AB),heat stress with probiotic cocktail 1(HS-P1),and heat stress with probiotic cocktail 2(HS-P2)groups.The broilers in TN and HS groups received a diet without supplements,and those in HS-AB,HS-P1 and HS-P2 groups were fed a diet supplemented with chlortetracycline(300 g/t)or probiotic cocktail 1 or 2(100 g/t),respectively.[Results]The results showed that heat stress reduced growth performance and increased inflammatory factors,NF-κB and Toll-like receptors in jejunal mucosa coinciding with higher expression of jejunal tight junction proteins,mucin and heat stress protein mRNA.[Conclusion]Dietary probiotic cocktails had protective effects against the heat stress-induced changes in the intestine,with increased serum antioxidant capacity and growth performance of broilers.The effect of these cocktails was similar to that of chlortetracycline.Wang Zheng Zhang Dawei Yu Wenjun Qi Changhai Yuan Jiang 2019Animal Husbandry and Feed Science2019,11,3:1

11Pijx confers broad-spectrum seedling and panicle blast resistance by promoting the degradation of ATP β subunit and OsRbohC-mediated ROS burst in rice显示文摘Rice blast,caused by the fungal pathogen Magnaporthe oryzae,is one of the most important diseases of rice.Utilization of blast-resistance genes is the most economical,effective,and environmentally friendly way to control the disease.However,genetic resources with broad-spectrum resistance(BSR)that is effective throughout the rice growth period are rare.In this work,using a genome-wide association study,we identify a new blast-resistance gene,Pijx,which encodes a typical CC-NBS-LRR protein.Pijx is derived from a wild rice species and confers BSR to M.oryzae at both the seedling and panicle stages.The functions of the resistant haplotypes of Pijx are confirmed by gene knockout and overexpression experiments.Mechanistically,the LRR domain in Pijx interacts with and promotes the degradation of the ATP synthase β subunit(ATPb)via the 26S proteasome pathway.ATPb acts as a negative regulator of Pijx-mediated panicle blast resistance,and interacts with OsRbohC to promote its degradation.Consistently,loss of ATPb function causes an increase in NAPDH content and ROS burst.Remarkably,when Pijx is introgressed into two japonica rice varieties,the introgression lines show BSR and increased yields that are approximately 51.59%and 79.31%higher compared with those of their parents in a natural blast disease nursery.In addition,we generate PPL^(Pijx Pigm) and PPL^(Pijx Piz-t) pyramided lines and these lines also have higher BSR to panicle blast compared with Pigm-or Piz-t-containing rice plants.Collectively,this study demonstrates that Pijx not only confers BSR to M.oryzae but also maintains high and stable rice yield,providing new genetic resources and molecular targets for breeding rice varieties with broad-spectrum blast resistance.Ning Xiao Yunyu Wu Xiaoxiang Zhang Zeyun Hao Zichun Chen Zefeng Yang Yue Cai Ruyi Wang Ling Yu Zhiping Wang Yue Lu Wei Shi Cunhong Pan Yuhong Li Changhai Zhou Jianju Liu Niansheng Huang Guangqing Liu Hongjuan Ji Shuhao Zhu Shuai Fang Yuese Ning Aihong Li 2023Molecular Plant2023,16,11:0
12Dispersion effects on performance of free-electron laser based on laser wakefield accelerator显示文摘In this study, we investigate a new simple scheme using a planar undulator(PU) together with a properly dispersed electron beam(e beam) with a large energy spread(~1%) to enhance the free-electron laser(FEL) gain. For a dispersed e beam in a PU, the resonant condition is satisfied for the center electrons, while the frequency detuning increases for the off-center electrons, inhibiting the growth of the radiation. The PU can act as a filter for selecting the electrons near the beam center to achieve the radiation. Although only the center electrons contribute, the radiation can be enhanced significantly owing to the high-peak current of the beam. 14Effect of injection scheme on asymmetric phenomenon in rectangular and circular scramjets显示文摘The asymmetric separation has a crucial effect on the performance of the scramjet.In this study,the asymmetric separation and combustion in both rectangular and circular scramjets are investigated numerically,and the effect of injection scheme is analyzed.The characteristics of the flow field are analyzed based on sufficient code verification.In the rectangular scramjet,the separation tends to occur in the corner due to the corner boundary-layer effect.The separation is asym-metric and only two corners have serious separation.The fuel penetration depth in the separation zone increases and the combustion is intensified.When the injection scheme is uniform,both the combustion and separation become weak.In the circular scramjet,the separation and combustion are basically axisymmetric in the scramjet with one-row injection scheme.The asymmetric combustion becomes obvious in cases with multi-row injection scheme.When the injection orifices distribute intensively on the top and bottom sides,the strongest and weakest separations occur near these two sides respectively.When the distribution of orifices becomes uniform,the direction of separation cannot be predicted.For multi-row cases,the nonuniform injection scheme could result in violent combustion and asymmetric flow structures compared with the uniform injection scheme.Guangwei MA Mingbo SUN Guoyan ZHAO Changhai LIANG Hongbo WANG Jiangfei YU 2023Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2023,36,1:0

17High-temperature energy storage dielectric with inhibition of carrier injection/migration based on band structure regulation显示文摘Dielectric capacitors have a high power density,and are widely used in military and civilian life.The main problem lies in the serious deterioration of dielectric insulation performance at high temperatures.In this study,a polycarbonate(PC)-based energy storage dielectric was designed with BN/SiO_(2)heterojunctions on its surface.Based on this structural design,a synergistic suppression of the carrier injection and transport was achieved,significantly improving the insulating properties of the polymer film.In particular,the composite film achieves optimal high-temperature energy-storage properties.The composite film can withstand an electric field intensity of 760 MV m^(-1)at 100℃and obtain an energy storage density of 8.32 J cm^(-3),while achieving a breakthrough energy storage performance even at 150℃(610 MV m^(-1),5.22 J cm^(-3)).Through adjustment of the heterojunction structure,free adjustment of the insulation performance of the material can be realized;this is of great significance for the optimization of the material properties.Guang Liu Qingquan Lei Yu Feng Changhai Zhang Tiandong Zhang Qingguo Chen Qingguo Chi 2023InfoMat2023,5,2:0
18Reliability-based design optimization of offshore wind turbine support structures using RBF surrogate model显示文摘An efficient reliability-based design optimization method for the support structures of monopile offshore wind turbines is proposed herein.First,parametric finite element analysis(FEA)models of the support structure are established by considering stochastic variables.Subsequently,a surrogate model is constructed using a radial basis function(RBF)neural network to replace the time-consuming FEA.The uncertainties of loads,material properties,key sizes of structural components,and soil properties are considered.The uncertainty of soil properties is characterized by the variabilities of the unit weight,friction angle,and elastic modulus of soil.Structure reliability is determined via Monte Carlo simulation,and five limit states are considered,i.e.,structural stresses,tower top displacements,mudline rotation,buckling,and natural frequency.Based on the RBF surrogate model and particle swarm optimization algorithm,an optimal design is established to minimize the volume.Results show that the proposed method can yield an optimal design that satisfies the target reliability and that the constructed RBF surrogate model significantly improves the optimization efficiency.Furthermore,the uncertainty of soil parameters significantly affects the optimization results,and increasing the monopile diameter is a cost-effective approach to cope with the uncertainty of soil parameters.Changhai YU Xiaolong LV Dan HUANG Dongju JIANG 2023Frontiers of Structural and Civil Engineering2023,17,7:0
