1A spatial-explicit dynamic vegetation model that couples carbon,water,and nitrogen processes for arid and semiarid ecosystems显示文摘Arid and semiarid ecosystems,or dryland,are important to global biogeochemical cycles.Dryland's community structure and vegetation dynamics as well as biogeochemical cycles are sensitive to changes in climate and atmospheric composition.Vegetation dynamic models has been applied in global change studies,but the complex interactions among the carbon(C),water,and nitrogen(N) cycles have not been adequately addressed in the current models.In this study,a process-based vegetation dynamic model was developed to study the responses of dryland ecosystems to environmental changes,emphasizing on the interactions among the C,water,and N processes.To address the interactions between the C and water processes,it not only considers the effects of annual precipitation on vegetation distribution and soil moisture on organic matter(SOM) decomposition,but also explicitly models root competition for water and the water compensation processes.To address the interactions between C and N processes,it models the soil inorganic mater processes,such as N mineralization/immobilization,denitrification/nitrification,and N leaching,as well as the root competition for soil N.The model was parameterized for major plant functional types and evaluated against field observations.Chi ZHANG ChaoFan LI Xi CHEN GePing LUO LongHui LI XiaoYu LI Yan YAN Hua SHAO 2013Journal of Arid Land2013,5,1:8
2Optical meta-waveguides for integrated photonics and beyond显示文摘The growing maturity of nanofabrication has ushered massive sophisticated optical structures available on a photonic chip.The integration of subwavelength-structured metasurfaces and metamaterials on the canonical building block of optical waveguides is gradually reshaping the landscape of photonic integrated circuits,giving rise to numerous metawaveguides with unprecedented strength in controlling guided electromagnetic waves.Here,we review recent advances in meta-structured waveguides that synergize various functional subwavelength photonic architectures with diverse waveguide platforms,such as dielectric or plasmonic waveguides and optical fibers.Foundational results and representative applications are comprehensively summarized.Brief physical models with explicit design tutorials,either physical intuition-based design methods or computer algorithms-based inverse designs,are cataloged as well.We highlight how meta-optics can infuse new degrees of freedom to waveguide-based devices and systems,by enhancing light-matter interaction strength to drastically boost device performance,or offering a versatile designer media for manipulating light in nanoscale to enable novel functionalities.We further discuss current challenges and outline emerging opportunities of this vibrant field for various applications in photonic integrated circuits,biomedical sensing,artificial intelligence and beyond.Yuan Meng Yizhen Chen Longhui Lu Yimin Ding Andrea Cusano Jonathan A.Fan Qiaomu Hu Kaiyuan Wang Zhenwei Xie Zhoutian Liu Yuanmu Yang Qiang Liu Mali Gong Qirong Xiao Shulin Sun Minming Zhang Xiaocong Yuan Xingjie Ni 2021Light(Science & Applications)2021,10,12:6
3Differential expression of immune-related genes between healthy volunteers and type 2 diabetic patients with spleen-deficiency pattern显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To investigate the clinical differentiation of spleen-deficiency pattern(SDP), a group of symptoms and signs defined in terms of Traditional Chinese Medicine for its clinical practice.METHODS: Peripheral venous blood(> 3 m L) was collected from each of six type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)-SDP patients and six healthy volunteers. After the isolation of peripheral white blood cells(PWBCs), total RNA was extracted, and quality control was performed on all RNA samples. Microarray experiments were conducted using the Agilent human whole genome gene chip, and genes demonstrating differential expression were screened. Bioinformatics analysis was conducted on these genes using several online databases.RESULTS: We screened a total of 175 differentially expressed genes(DEGs), of which 111(63%) were down-regulated and 64(37%) were up-regulated in T2DM-SDP patients compared with healthy controls. Among the 175 genes, 158 had biological function annotations: 46(29%) were directly related to an individual's immune regulation or response, 25(16%) were associated with substance and energy metabolism of PWBCs which could also indirectly influence immunity, and the remaining87(55%) were involved in a variety of PWBC biological processes that might eventually influence the immune function. Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes pathway enrichment analysis revealed that the DEGs were predominantly enriched in seven immune-related pathways. Hierarchical cluster analysis identified gene expression patterns that were distinguishable between the two study groups.CONCLUSION: Our results suggest that T2DM-SDP patients experience significant hypoimmunity and/or immune dysfunctions, and possess a specific gene expression profile. 4Wearable CNT/Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x)MXene/PDMS composite strain sensor with enhanced stability for real-time human healthcare monitoring显示文摘Strain sensors with good stability are vital to the development of wearable healthcare monitoring systems.However,the design of strain sensor with both duration stability and environmental stability is still a challenge.In this work,we propose an ultra-stable and washable strain sensor by embedding a coupled composite film of carbon nanotube(CNT)and Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) MXene into polydimethylsiloxane(PDMS)matrix.The composite strain sensor with embedded microstructure and uneven surface makes it conformal to skin,while the CNT/MXene sensing layer exhibits a resistance sensitive to strain.This sensor shows reliable responses at different frequencies and with long-term cycling durability(over 1,000 cycles).Meanwhile,the CNT/MXene/PDMS composite strain sensor provides the advantages of superior anti-interference to temperature change and water washing.The results demonstrate less than 10%resistance changes as the temperature rises from-20 to 80℃or after sonication in water for 120 min,respectively.The composite sensor is applied to monitor human joint motions,such as bending of finger,wrist and elbow.Moreover,the simultaneous monitoring of the electrocardiogram(ECG)signal and joint movement while riding a sports bicycle is demonstrated,enabling the great potential of the as-fabricated sensor in real-time human healthcare monitoring.Xiaowen Xu Yucheng Chen Pei He Song Wang Kai Ling Longhui Liu Pengfei Lei Xianjun Huang Hu Zhao Jianyun Cao Junliang Yang 2021Nano Research2021,14,8:5
5Modeling the contribution of abiotic exchange to CO_2 flux in alkaline soils of arid areas显示文摘Recent studies on alkaline soils of arid areas suggest a possible contribution of abiotic exchange to soil CO2 flux(Fc).However,both the overall contribution of abiotic CO2 exchange and its drivers remain unknown.Here we analyzed the environmental variables suggested as possible drivers by previous studies and constructed a function of these variables to model the contribution of abiotic exchange to Fc in alkaline soils of arid areas.An automated flux system was employed to measure Fc in the Manas River Basin of Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region,China.Soil pH,soil temperature at 0–5 cm(Ts),soil volumetric water content at 0–5 cm(θs)and air temperature at10 cm above the soil surface(Tas)were simultaneously analyzed.Results highlight reduced sensitivity of Fc to Ts and good prediction of Fc by the model Fc=R10Q10(Tas–10)/10+r7q7(pH–7)+λTas+μθs+e which represents Fc as a sum of biotic and abiotic components.This presents an approximate method to quantify the contribution of soil abiotic CO2 exchange to Fc in alkaline soils of arid areas.WenFeng WANG Xi CHEN GePing LUO LongHui LI 2014Journal of Arid Land2014,6,1:2
6Species Diversity and Elevational Distribution of Amphibians in the Xianxialing and Wuyishan Mountain Ranges,Southeastern China显示文摘The species diversity and altitudinal distribution of amphibians along an eleva tional gradient of 200-1600 m in the Xianxialing and Wuyishan Mountain Ranges in Southeastern China were investiga ted through time-constra ined visual surveys along 32 transect lines in 9 survey areas,in which the ha bitat types were also recorded.A total of 27 amphibian species belonging to 19 genera,7 families,and 2 orders were found.The species diversity of the amphibians plateaued at low elevation,and the altitudinal boundary of their distribution was at 800 m.Their species compositions were dissimilar in the two mountain ranges probably beca use the annual average temperature and annual rainfall were different in both areas.The eleva tional Rapoport's rule demonstrated that the species range size of the amphibians expanded as the elevation increased in both mountain ranges.The results of the cross species method supported the rule only when the influence of the low-frequency occurrence proba bility of an investigated species was excluded,whereas those of the Steven's method strongly corroborated the rule rega rdless of the incidental occurrence or absence of the species.Zhiqiang CHEN Yun TANG Yingying WANG Yindie LI Longhui LIN Guohua DING 2020Asian Herpetological Research2020,11,1:2

17Influences of AMY1 gene copy number and protein expression on salivary alpha-amylase activity before and after citric acid stimulation in splenic asthenia children显示文摘OBjECTIVE:To compare the correlations between salivary alpha-amylase(sAA) activity and amylase,alpha 1(salivary) gene(AMY1) copy number or its gene expression between splenic asthenia and healthy children,and investigate the reasons of attenuated sAA activity ratio before and after citric acid stimulation in splenic asthenia children.METHODS:Saliva samples from 20 splenic asthenia children and 29 healthy children were collected before and after citric acid stimulation.AMY1 copy number,sAA activity,and total sAA and glycosylated sAA contents were determined,and their correlations were analyzed.RESULTS:Although splenic asthenia and healthy children had no differences in AMY1 copy number,splenic asthenia children had positive correlations between AMY1 copy number and sAA activity before or after citric acid stimulation.Splenic asthenia children had a higher sAA glycosylated proportion ratio and glycosylated sAA content ratio,while their total sAA content ratio and sAA activity ratio were lower compared with healthy children.The glycosylated sAA content ratio was higher than the total sAA content ratio in both groups.Splenic asthenia and healthy children had positive correlations between total sAA or glycosylated sAA content and sAA activity.However,the role played by glycosylated sAA content in sAA activity in healthy children increased after citric acid stimulation,while it decreased in splenic asthenia children.CONCLUSION:Genetic factors like AMY1 copy number variations,and more importantly,sAA glycosylation abnormalities leading to attenuated sAA activity after citric acid stimulation,which were the main reasons of the attenuated sAA activity ratio in splenic asthenia children compared with healthy children.Yang Zemin Lin Jing Chen Longhui Zhang Min Yang Xiaorong Chen Weiwen 2015Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2015,35,3:0
18Improved creep aging response in Al-Cu alloy by applying pre-aging before pre-straining显示文摘The improvement of post-form properties without compromising creep formability has been a critical issue in creep age forming of aluminum alloy component. A pretreatment process incorporating artificial pre-aging at 165 °C for 6 h/12 h/24 h followed by pre-strain(3%–9%)has been developed. This method not only evidently improves the strength but also accelerates the creep deformation during creep aging of an Al-Cu alloy. A strength increase of 50 MPa with a slight decrease of ductility relative to the 9% pre-strained alloy is acquired in the alloy artificially pre-aged for 24 h regardless of the pre-strain level(3%–9%). Artificial aging for 24 h prior to 3%pre-strain enables an increase of creep strain by 30%. The creep strain in the alloy artificially preaged for 24 h and pre-strained by 6% is comparable to that in the alloy pre-strained by 9%. The strength and ductility in the alloy artificially pre-aged for 6 h/12 h and pre-strained by 3% are even slightly higher than those in the alloy purely pre-strained by 9%. The characterizations by transmission electron microscopy reveal that pre-aging at 165 °C could promote the accumulation of dislocations during pre-straining due to the pinning effect of pre-existing Guinier-Preston zones(GP zones)/θ’’phases and thus expedite the creep deformation in respect to the pure pre-straining treatment. The enhanced precipitation of θ’phases at these pinned dislocations contributes to the improved strength after creep aging. 19Design and discovery of a highly potent ultralong-acting GLP-1 and glucagon co-agonist for attenuating renal fibrosis显示文摘The role of co-agonists of glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor(GLP-1R)and glucagon receptor(GCGR)in chronic kidney disease(CKD)remains unclear.Herein we found that GLP-1R and GCGR expression levels were lower in the kidneys of mice with CKD compared to healthy mice and were correlated with disease severity.Interestingly,GLP-1R or GCGR knockdown aggravated the progression of kidney injury in both diabetic db/db mice and non-diabetic mice undergoing unilateral ureteral obstruction(UUO).Based on the importance of GLP-1R and GCGR in CKD,we reported a novel monomeric peptide,1907-B,with dual-agonism on both GLP-1R and GCGR.The data confirmed that 1907-B had a longer half-life than long-acting semaglutide in rats or cynomolgus monkeys(~2-3 fold)and exhibited better therapeutic contribution to CKD than best-in-class monoagonists,semaglutide,or glucagon,in db/db mice and UUO mice.Various lock-of-function models,including selective pharmacological activation and genetic knockdown,confirmed that 1907-B’s effects on ameliorating diabetic nephropathy in db/db mice,as well as inhibiting kidney fibrosis in UUO mice,were mediated through GLP-1 and glucagon signaling.These findings highlight that 1907-B,a novel GLP-1R and GCGR co-agonist,exerts multifactorial improvement in kidney injuries and is an effective and promising therapeutic option for CKD treatment.Qian Zhao Jiale Dong Han Liu Hui Chen Huan Yu Shuyin Ye Shuangjin Yu Yu Li Longhui Qiu Nazi Song Hongjiao Xu Qi Liu Zhiteng Luo Yuyi Li Rui Wang Guodong Chen Xianxing Jiang 2024Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2024,14,3:0
20Unraveling the heterogeneity of solid electrolyte interphase kinetically affecting lithium electrodeposition on lithium metal anode显示文摘The stability and uniformity of solid electrolyte interphase(SEI)are critical for clarifying the origin of capacity fade and safety issues for lithium metal anodes(LMA).However,understanding the interplay of SEI heterogeneity and Li electrodeposition is limited by the coupling of complex electrochemistry and mechanics processes.Herein,the correlation between the SEI failure behavior and Li deposition morphology is investigated through a quantitative electrochemical-mechanical model.The local deformation and stress of SEI during Li electrodeposition identify that the heterogeneous interface between different components first fails.Compared with the well-known mechanical strength,component uniformity plays the most important role in the initial SEI failure and uneven Li deposition,and a relative component uniformity(p>0.01)represents a proper balance to ensure the stability of the naturally heterogeneous SEI.Furthermore,the component regulation of SEI via the designed electrolyte experimentally demonstrates that improving component uniformity benefits SEI stability and the uniform Li electrodeposition for LMA,thereby increasing the capacity by~20%after 300 cycles.These fundamental understandings and proposed strategy can be not only used to guide the SEI optimization via the electrolyte regulation,but also extended to the rational designs of artificial SEI for high-performance LMA.Mengyuan Zhou Yaqi Liao Longhui Li Ruoyu Xiong Guancheng Shen Yifu Chen Tianlun Huang Maoyuan Li Huamin Zhou Yun Zhang 2023Journal of Energy Chemistry2023,,10:0
