1Effect of Laser Remelting on the Microstructure and Corrosion Resistance of Plasma Sprayed Fe-based Coating显示文摘Fe-based amorphous and nanocrystalline coatings were fabricated by air plasma spraying. The coatings were further treated by laser remelting process to improve their microstructure and properties. The corrosion resistance of the as-sprayed and laser-remelted coatings in 3.5wt% Na Cl and 1 mol/L HCl solutions was evaluated by electrochemical polarization analysis. It was found that laser-remelted coating appeared much denser than the as-sprayed coating. However, laser-remelted coating contains much more nanocrystalline grains than the as-sprayed coatings, resulting from the lower cooling rate in laser remelting process compared with plasma spraying process. 2Processing of metastable beta titanium alloy:Comprehensive study on deformation behaviour and exceptional microstructure variation mechanisms显示文摘Thermomechanical processing(TMP)is especially crucial for metastableβtitanium alloys,which has received significant attention in the community for a long time.In this contribution,the processing-responding behaviour including microstructure evolution process,texture variation mechanism,and un-derlying deformation process of powder metallurgy Ti-5553 alloy in a wide processing parameter range was comprehensively investigated.Thermal physical simulation was performed on the alloy at temper-atures ranging from 800℃ to 1100℃,and strain rates between 0.001 s^(−1) and 10 s^(−1),to varied defor-mation degrees of 20%-80%height reduction.It was found that the processing parameters(i.e.temper-ature,strain rate,and deformation degree)are influential on the deformation process and resultant mi-crostructure.Varied microstructural evolution processes forβphase including flow localization,dynamic recovery,dynamic recrystallization,and grain coarsening are activated in different processing domains,while different evolution mechanisms forαphase including dynamic precipitation,phase separation,dy-namic coarsening,and mechanical shearing also play their roles under different processing conditions.In particular,four exceptional evolution mechanisms ofαprecipitation which have not been previously reported in titanium alloys were discovered and clearly demonstrated,more specifically,they are multi-interior twinning,internal compositing,layered coarsening and selective diffusion-actuated separation.After the establishment of comprehensive microstructural evolution mechanism maps,the guidance for precise processing and the knowledge reserve extension for deformation process of metastableβtita-nium alloys can be effectively achieved.Qinyang Zhao Leandro Bolzoni Yongnan Chen Yiku Xu Rob Torrens Fei Yang 2022Journal of Materials Science & Technology2022,,31:1

4Tailoring grain morphology in Ti-6Al-3Mo through heterogeneous nucleation in directed energy deposition显示文摘A common challenge in direct energy deposition(DED)is eliminating the anisotropy in mechanical performance associated with microstructure and the formation of coarse columnar grains.In this work,a heterogeneous nucleation mechanism was introduced into the melt pool,and,from this mechanism,an almost fully equiaxed grain morphology was obtained in the DED of Ti-6 Al-3 Mo.Three types of grain morphologies in DED Ti-6 Al-3 Mo,including full columnar grains,near-equiaxed grains and almost fully equiaxed grains were obtained from premixed and satellite powder blends from Ti,6 wt.%Al and 3 wt.%Mo,respectively.Combined with the analysis of the interactions between powder particles and the melt pool in DED,the formation mechanism of the equiaxed grains caused by the incomplete melting of high melting point Mo particles was revealed.As the prior-βgrains transformed from coarse columnar grains to fine-equiaxed grains,the strong<100>fiber texture along the deposition direction was weakened,while the size of theα-laths in the prior-βgrains slightly decreased,and the selection ofα-variants was weakened.Due to the transformation of the prior-βgrains from coarse columnar grains to fine-equiaxed grains,the tensile strength of the deposited samples increased from 982 MPa to 1082 MPa,while the yield strength increased from 840 MPa to 922 MPa,and the elongation of the as-deposited alloy also increased from 9.0%to 9.8%,which confirmed that the presence of fine-equiaxed grains is beneficial to the strength and plasticity of the DED alloy.This work further demonstrates the role that satelliting powders can play in terms of enhancing the columnar to equiaxed transition(CET)behavior associated with DED.Fengying Zhang Panpan Gao Hua Tan Yao Li Yongnan Chen Min Mei Adam T.Clare Lai-Chang Zhang 2021Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,29:1
5Mechanical Characterization of Close Cell Aluminum Foams Reinforced by High Voltages Electro-deposition显示文摘The parameters for the electro-deposition of Cu were optimized in order to increase the compressive properties of close cell aluminum. Different values of deposition voltages and times were considered to vary the amount of deposited Cu. The surface morphology of the coating was observed by SEM and the compressive properties were evaluated by MTS. The results show that the coating is more homogeneous and compact with increasing voltage in a certain range, and beyond which, the coating quality decreases apparently. The reason is dedicated to the discharge rate of Cu2+ and nucleus formed in unit time. The compression results show three experienced stages: elastic deformation stage, collapse deformation stage and densification stage. After the electro-deposition of Cu, the elasticity modulus is increased obviously and the platform stress is also increased. Under the same strain, the stress of the aluminum foam with coating is reinforced comparing with the aluminum foam without coating. Furthermore, the platform area is widened apparently. 6Stronger Hardy-like proof of quantum contextuality显示文摘A Hardy-like proof of quantum contextuality is a compelling way to see the conflict between quantum theory and noncontextual hidden variables(NCHVs),as the latter predict that a particular probability must be zero,while quantum theory predicts a nonzero value.For the existing Hardy-like proofs,the success probability tends to 1/2when the number of measurement settings n goes to infinity.It means the conflict between the existing Hardy-like proof and NCHV theory is weak,which is not conducive to experimental observation.Here we advance the study of a stronger Hardy-like proof of quantum contextuality,whose success probability is always higher than the previous ones generated from a certain n-cycle graph.Furthermore,the success probability tends to 1 when n goes to infinity.We perform the experimental test of the Hardy-like proof in the simplest case of n=7 by using a four-dimensional quantum system encoded in the polarization and orbital angular momentum of single photons.The experimental result agrees with the theoretical prediction within experimental errors.In addition,by starting from our Hardy-like proof,one can establish the stronger noncontextuality inequality,for which the quantumclassical ratio is higher with the same n,which provides a new method to construct some optimal noncontextuality inequalities.Our results offer a way for optimizing and enriching exclusivity graphs,helping to explore more abundant quantum properties.WEN-RONG QI JIE ZHOU LING-JUN KONG ZHEN-PENG XU HUI-XIAN MENG RUI LIU ZHOU-XIANG WANG CHENGHOU TU YONGNAN LI ADAN CABELLO JING-LING CHEN HUI-TIAN WANG 2022Photonics Research2022,10,7:0
