2The solute carrier transporters and the brain:Physiological and pharmacological implications显示文摘Solute carriers(SLCs)are the largest family of transmembrane transporters that determine the exchange of various substances,including nutrients,ions,metabolites,and drugs across biological membranes.To date,the presence of about 287 SLC genes have been identified in the brain,among which mutations or the resultant dysfunctions of 71 SLC genes have been reported to be correlated with human brain disorders.Although increasing interest in SLCs have focused on drug development,SLCs are currently still under-explored as drug targets,especially in the brain.We summarize the main substrates and functions of SLCs that are expressed in the brain,with an emphasis on selected SLCs that are important physiologically,pathologically,and pharmacologically in the blood-brain barrier,astrocytes,and neurons.Evidence suggests that a fraction of SLCs are regulated along with the occurrences of brain disorders,among which epilepsy,neurodegenerative diseases,and autism are representative.Given the review of SLCs involved in the onset and procession of brain disorders,we hope these SLCs will be screened as promising drug targets to improve drug delivery to the brain.Chengliang Hu Lei Tao Xizhi Cao Ligong Chen 2020Asian Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences2020,15,2:6
3Integrated analysis reveals an association between the rhizosphere microbiome and root rot of arecanut palm显示文摘The rhizosphere microbial community is crucial to plant health.Many studies have explored the association between the rhizosphere microbiome and plant disease.However,few studies have focused on root rot in arecanut palm,a disease causing devastating effects and thus resulting in economic losses that considerably affect the development of the arecanut industry.Here,rhizosphere samples were collected from both healthy arecanut palm plants and root-rotted arecanut palm plants,and the microbial communities were analyzed using high-throughput sequencing.The root-rotted samples exhibited distinct microbial community richness,diversity,and composition compared with the healthy samples,which was associated with p H according to the Mantel test.Identified potential plant pathogens,including Proteobacteria,Bacteroidetes,Chytridiomycota,and Mortierellomycota,were significantly enriched in the root-rotted samples.In contrast,potentially beneficial plant microbes,such as Acidobacteria and Gemmatimonadetes,were significantly depleted in the root-rotted samples.Co-occurrence networks were constructed to further identify microbial relationships in the root-rotted samples.These findings revealed ecological imbalance among beneficial bacteria in the root-rotted samples.The present study therefore provides an integrated view of the association between the microbial community and root rot in arecanut palm.Hong LI Xiang MA Yanqiong TANG Chengliang YAN Xinwen HU Xi HUANG Min LIN Zhu LIU 2021Pedosphere2021,31,5:3
4Non-destructive Measurement of Magnetic Properties of Claw Pole显示文摘The magnetic properties of the claw pole have a direct effect on the output power of a generator Many methods can be used to measure these magnetic properties,each with its own advantages,but an important shortcoming is that all are destructive.In this study,a new non-destructive method to measure the magnetic properties of claw pole was proposed and a corresponding testing set-up was designed.A finite-element model was constructed to simulate the measurement process.Results proved that the measured magnetization-like curves had good agreement with the trend of the input magnetic curves and the effect of the positioning error in the measuring process could be neglected.To further validate the new method,seven types of claw poles of different materials subjected to different heat-treatment processes were forged and tested by both the new method and the conventional ring-sample method.Compared with the latter,the new method showed better consistency,relatively higher accuracy,and much stronger stability of measurement results;however,its sensitivity needs to be improved.The effects of material compositions and heat-treatment parameters on the magnetic properties of the claw pole were briefly analyzed.Chengliang Hu Xuejiao Bai Minjun Tang Xiaofeng Tang Zhen Zhao 2019Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2019,32,5:2
5A branched dihydrophenazine-based polymer as a cathode material to achieve dual-ion batteries with high energy and power density显示文摘Organic electrode materials have exhibited good electrochemical performance in batteries,but their voltages and rate capabilities still require improvement to meet the increasing demand for batteries with high energy and power density.Herein,we design and synthesize a branched dihydrophenazine-based polymer(p-TPPZ)as a cathode material for dual-ion batteries(DIBs)through delicate molecular design.Compared with the linear dihydrophenazine-based polymer(p-DPPZ,with a theoretical capacity of 209 mAh g^(−1)),p-TPPZ possessed a higher theoretical capacity of 233 mAh g^(−1)and lower highest occupied molecular orbital energy levels,which resulted in a high actual capacity(169.3 mAh g^(−1)at 0.5 C),an average discharge voltage of 3.65 V(vs.Li+/Li)and a high energy density(618.2 Wh kg^(−1),based on the cathode materials).The branched structure of p-TPPZ led to a larger specific surface area than that of p-DPPZ,which was beneficial for the electrolyte infiltration and fast ionic transport,contributing to the high power density.Due to the fast reaction kinetics,even at a power density of 23,725 W kg^(−1)(40 C),the energy density still reached 474.5 Wh kg^(−1).We also made a detailed investigation of the p-TPPZ cathode’s charge storage mechanism.This work will stimulate the further molecular design to develop organic batteries with both high energy and power density.Shuaifei Xu Huichao Dai Shaolong Zhu Yanchao Wu Mingxuan Sun Yuan Chen Kun Fan Chenyang Zhang Chengliang Wang Wenping Hu 2021eScience2021,1,1:2

7A novel phenomenological model using a sine function for finite-element simulation of large-strain hot deformation显示文摘In hot deformation, the flow stress curves of steels always present as two typical types: at relatively high temperature and low strain rate, the flow stress may first increase and then attain a steady value without reaching an obvious peak stress; in other situations, the flow stress decreases after reaching peak stress and then attains a steady value. A new phenomenological model,described by a sine-function equation, is proposed to define the relationship between flow stress and deformation parameters. A series of isothermal compressions for a carbon steel were carried out, as a case study, to obtain basic experimental data.Parameters of the new model were sequentially determined. The predicted results of the proposed model were compared with actual measured data. Good accuracy was found in the standard statistical parameters of correlation coefficient, root mean square error, and average absolute relative error with the values of 0.935, 7.137 MPa and 4.352%, respectively. Discussion of applications of different models in finite-element simulation demonstrated the benefit of the new model. 13Effect of die coating on surface crack depth of hot extruded 7075 aluminum alloy显示文摘The aluminum alloys belonging to the 7000 series are high-strength alloys used in a wide variety of products for weight reduction.They are primarily used in the field of transportation and aerospace.Among these,the A7075 alloy has the highest strength and is expected to be applicable in a wide range of fields,such as aircraft components and sports equipment.However,it has high deformation resistance and is prone to surface defects,which is called tearing.Tearing typically occurs at high temperatures and high ram speeds,and adversely affects productivity.The localized melting of Zn and additive compounds,due to the heat generated during the process,is considered to cause tearing.In this study,the effect of friction,heat,and tearing at the tool-metal interface was mitigated by improving the die surface quality.The reduced friction eliminated recrystallization by preventing the temperature from increasing to recrystallization temperature.In addition,an AlCrN coating was adopted instead of nitriding to improve the die surface quality.The tearing size and heat generated when using the AlCrN coating were found to be limited.Moreover,the grain size observed in the tearing region on the extruded surface was small.The simulations using the shear friction coefficient m observed from friction tests indicate that the use of the AlCrN coating improved the material flow.Thus,the AlCrN coating is considered effective for reducing friction at the interface and preventing the recrystallization of the extruded surface.From the aforementioned results,it can be inferred that a die coating can reduce the tearing sensitivity and increase the productivity of the A7075 alloy.Tatsuya FUNAZUKA Kuniaki DOHDA Norio TAKATSUJI Chengliang HU Ngernbamrung SUKUNTHAKAN 2023Friction2023,11,7:1

16A new method for evaluating the quality of single sperm by detecting reactive oxygen species显示文摘Sperm damage caused by reactive oxygen species(ROS) is one of the main causes of male infertility.Therefore, the level of ROS in sperm is an important indicator for the diagnosis and prognosis of male infertility. Herein, we constructed a single sperm ROS detection method(SSRDM) with an optical microprobe fabricated via focused ion beam process. The micro-probe is used to separately excite fluorescence in the sperm and the area around the sperm after ROS staining, and the difference in fluorescence values can reflect the level of ROS in the sperm. We collected 102 semen samples and 72 of them were divided into asthenozoospermia and non-asthenozoospermia groups. SSRDM and flow cytometry were used to detect the ROS levels of the two groups. The results of SSRDM showed that the ROS levels of asthenozoospermia group were higher than that of non-asthenozoospermia group(P = 0.002), while the results of flow cytometry indicated no difference(P = 0.152). In terms of ROS levels, compared with flow cytometry, SSRDM has a stronger ability to distinguish between those two groups, providing a reliable basis for assessment of sperm quality. Another 30 semen samples were used to investigate temperature and temporal variability of SSRDM to ensure the stability and accuracy of this method. 17Highly dispersed silver nanoparticles for performance-enhanced lithium oxygen batteries显示文摘Aprotic lithium-oxygen batteries possess ultrahigh energy density but suffer from the sluggish decomposition of discharge product,quick depletion of Li anode and cleavage of electrolyte,in close association with oxygen reduction reaction at the cathode.Herein,highly dispersed silver nanoparticles are used to enhance the lithium-oxygen battery with 1.0 M lithium perchlorate in dimethyl sulfoxide.It is observed that film-like amorphous lithium peroxide is formed through surface pathway instead of bulk crystals,due to the incorporation of silver nanoparticles dispersed in the electrolyte,which subsequently accelerates the decomposition of the discharge product by offering more active sites and improved conductivity.The released silver nanoparticles after battery charging can be re-used in the following cycles.Experiments and theoretical calculation further indicate that the suspended silver nanoparticles can adsorb the soluble oxygen reduction intermediates,which are responsible for the alleviation of oxidative cleavage of electrolyte and corrosion of lithium anode.The lifespan of lithium oxygen batteries is therefore significantly extended from 55 to 390 cycles,and the rate performance and full-discharge capacity are also largely enhanced.The battery failure is attributed to the coalescence and growth of silver nanoparticles in the electrolyte,and further improvement on colloid stability is underway.Zhihong Luo Fujie Li Chengliang Hu Liankun Yin Degui Li Chenhao Ji Xiangqun Zhuge Kui Zhang Kun Luo 2021Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,14:0

20Identification and characterization of extrachromosomal circular DNA in the silk gland of Bombyx mori显示文摘The silk gland cells of silkworm are special cells which only replicate DNA in the nucleus without cell division throughout the larval stage. The extrachromosomal circular DNAs (eccDNAs) have not yet been reported in the silk gland of silkworms. Herein, we have explored the characterization of eccDNAs in the posterior silk gland of silkworms. A total of 35 346 eccDNAs were identified with sizes ranging from 30 to 13 569 549 bp. Motif analysis revealed that dual direct repeats are flanking the 5′ and 3′ breaking points of eccDNA. The sequences exceeding 1 kb length in eccDNAs present palindromic sequence characteristics flanking the 5′ and 3′ breaking points of the eccDNA. These motifs might support possible models for eccDNA generation. Genomic annotation of the eccDNA population revealed that most eccDNAs (58.6%) were derived from intergenic regions, whereas full or partial genes were carried by 41.4% of eccDNAs. It was found that silk protein genes fib-H, fib-L, and P25, as well as the transcription factors SGF and sage, which play an important regulatory role in silk protein synthesis, could be carried by eccDNAs. Gene Ontology and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes enrichment analyses showed that the genes carried by eccDNAs were mainly associated with the development and metabolism-related signaling pathways. Moreover, it was found that eccDNAfib-L could promote the transcription of fib-L gene.
