| 2 | Evaluation of contrast-enhanced ultrasound for diagnosis of dysplastic nodules with a focus of hepatocellular carcinoma in liver cirrhosis patients显示文摘Objective: To compare the enhancement features of dysplastic nodules with a focus of hepatocellular carcinoma(DN-HCC) versus HCC and regenerative nodules(RN) in cirrhotic patients.Methods: One hundred and ninety-three cirrhotic patients were enrolled in this study; they had 215 focal liver lesions, 1.0-3.5 cm in size, which were examined using contrast-enhanced ultrasound(CEUS) with Sono Vue?and diagnosed as HCC, RN or DN-HCC by biopsy. Samples were obtained using 18-gauge needles in the different enhanced areas. The enhancement features of DN-HCC, HCC and RN were evaluated.Results: There were 86 HCC lesions, 102 RN lesions, and 27 DN-HCC lesions diagnosed by biopsy. Of 86 HCC lesions, 87.2%(75/86) showed complete enhancement during the arterial phase, and 12.8%(11/86) had inhomogeneous enhancement, with no enhancement in the central area during the arterial phase; 100%(86/86) exhibited washout during the late phase. Of 102 RN lesions, 95.1%(97/102) had delayed or simultaneous enhancement during the arterial phase, and 4.9%(5/102) displayed slight enhancement during the arterial phase; 26.5%(27/102) exhibited washout and 73.5%(75/102) exhibited no washout during the late phase. In 27 DN-HCC lesions, only part of the lesions enhanced during the arterial phase and washed out during the late phase; the other areas had delayed or simultaneous enhancement during the arterial phase, and 29.6%(8/27) exhibited slight washout in the late phase. In 86 HCCs, the pathological feature was HCC in the enhanced area of 75 lesions, hepatocellular fatty degeneration in the slightly enhanced area of 7 lesions, and hepatocellular necrosis in the unenhanced area and HCC in the enhanced area of 4 lesions. In 102 RNs, the pathological diagnosis was hepatocyte proliferation with or without fatty degeneration. In 27 DN-HCCs, the pathological feature was HCC in the enhanced area and hepatocyte regeneration in the unenhanced area.Conclusions: CEUS is useful for the diagnosis of focal liver lesions in cirrhotic patients. CEUS can help determine the progression from RN to DN-HCC to HCC by analyzing the hemodynamics. | 3 | Antioxidant and Anti-inflammatory Capacity of Ferulic Acid Released from Wheat Bran by Solid-state Fermentation of Aspergillus niger显示文摘Objective A strain of Aspergillus niger(A. niger), capable of releasing bound phenolic acids from wheat bran, was isolated. This strain was identified by gene sequence identification. The antioxidant and anti-inflammatory capacity of ferulic acid released from wheat bran by this A. niger strain(FA-WB) were evaluated. Methods Molecular identification techniques based on PCR analysis of specific genomic sequences were conducted; antioxidant ability was examined using oxygen radical absorbance capacity(ORAC), cellular antioxidant activity(CAA) assays, and erythrocyte hemolysis assays. RAW264.7 cells were used as a model to detect anti-inflammatory activity. Results The filamentous fungal isolate was identified to be A. niger. ORAC and CAA assay showed that FA-WB had better antioxidant activity than that of the ferulic acid standard. The erythrocyte hemolysis assay results suggested that FA-WB could attenuate AAPH-induced oxidative stress through inhibition of reactive oxy gen species(ROS) generation. FA-WB could significantly restore the AAPH-induced increase in intracellular antioxidant enzyme activities to normal levels as well as inhibit the intracellular malondialdehyde formation. TNF-?, IL-6, and NO levels indicated that FA-WB can inhibit the inflammation induced by lipopolysaccharide(LPS). | 4 | Magnolol additive as a replacer of antibiotic enhances the growth performance of Linwu ducks显示文摘Magnolol rich in Magnolia officinalis is a bioactive polyphenolic compound. The aim of this study was to examine the effects of magnolol additive(MA) on growth performance, expression levels of antioxidantrelated genes, and intestinal mucosal morphology of Linwu ducks aged from 49 to 70 days, comparing with that of an antibiotic additive(colistin sulfate [CS]). A total of 275,49-day-old ducks were assigned to5 groups with 5 cages of 11 ducks each and fed diets supplemented with 0,100, 200 and 300 mg of MA/kg and 300 mg of CS/kg for 3 weeks, respectively. The results showed that the average daily body weight gain(ADG) was increased significantly in MA-fed groups(200 and 300 mg/kg), compared with the basal diet(BD) group(P < 0.05). The mRNA levels of superoxide dismutase-1(SOD1), manganese superoxide dismutase-2(MnSOD2) and catalase(CAT) were also increased significantly in MA groups(P < 0.05). In addition, hematoxylin and eosin staining revealed that Linwu ducks fed the diets with MA had more intact intestinal mucosa than those fed the BD and CS diets. In addition, ileal villus height, ileal villus height/crypt depth ratio(V/C) and duodenal V/C were also improved significantly(P < 0.05). | 5 | Land-surface processes and summer-cloud-precipitation characteristics in the Tibetan Plateau and their effects on downstream weather:a review and perspective显示文摘Correct understanding of the land-surface processes and cloud-precipitation processes in the Tibetan Plateau(TP)is an important prerequisite for the study and forecast of the downstream activities of weather systems and one of the key points for understanding the global atmospheric movement.In order to show the achievements that have been made,this paper reviews the progress on the observations for the atmospheric boundary layer,land-surface heat fluxes,cloud-precipitation distributions and vertical structures by using ground-and space-based multiplatform,multisensor instruments and the effect of the cloud system in the TP on the downstream weather.The results show that the form drag related to the topography,land-atmosphere momentum and scalar fluxes is an important part of the parameterization process.The sensible heat flux decreased especially in the central and northern TP caused by the decrease in wind speeds and the differences in the ground-air temperatures.Observations show that the cloud and precipitation over the TP have a strong diurnal variation.Studies also show the compressed-air column in the troposphere by the higher-altitude terrain of the TP makes particles inside clouds vary at a shorter distance in the vertical direction than those in the non-plateau area so that precipitation intensity over the TP is usually small with short duration,and the vertical structure of the convective precipitation over the TP is obviously different from that in other regions.In addition,the influence of the TP on severe weather downstream is preliminarily understood from the mechanism.It is necessary to use model simulations and observation techniques to reveal the difference between cloud precipitation in the TP and non-plateau areas in order to understand the cloud microphysical parameters over the TP and the processes of the land boundary layer affecting cloud,precipitation and weather in the downstream regions. | Yunfei Fu Yaoming Ma Lei Zhong Yuanjian Yang Xueliang Guo Chenghai Wang Xiaofeng Xu Kun Yang Xiangde Xu Liping Liu Guangzhou Fan Yueqing Li Donghai Wang | 2020 | National Science Review2020,7,3: | 10 |
| 6 | Preliminary study of a new pathological evolution-based clinical hepatolithiasis classification显示文摘AIM:To investigate clinical features,treatment strategies and outcomes of patients with hepatolithiasis(HL)undergoing surgical treatment,using a new clinicalclassification.METHODS:Sixty-eight HL patients were hospitalized and treated surgically from August 2011 to December2012 and they were classified into four HL types according to pathological evolution of the disease.These four HL types included typeⅠprimary type(defined as no previous biliary tract surgery),typeⅡinflammatory type(with previous biliary tract surgery and cholangitis),typeⅢmass-forming type(HL complicated by hepatic mass-forming lesion),and typeⅣterminal type(with secondary biliary cirrhosis and resultant portal hypertension).The perioperative data including general information,imaging data,postoperative complications,and immediate and final stone clearance rate were obtained and analyzed.RESULTS:In all 68 patients,the proportion of HL typeⅠ-Ⅳwas 50%(34/68),36.8%(25/68),10.3%(7/68)and 2.8%(2/68),respectively.Abdominal pain was the main clinical manifestation in typeⅠ(88.2%),fever was predominant in typeⅡ(52.0%),the malignancy rate in typeⅢwas high(71.4%),and portal hypertension and spleen enlargement were common in typeⅣ(2/2,100.0%).Liver resection rate for typesⅠ-Ⅲwas 79.4%,72.0%and 71.4%,respectively.The overall incidence of postoperative complications was23.5%(16/68).There were no perioperative deaths.The average length of hospital stay was 12.7±7.3 d.Immediate and final stone clearance rate was 73.5%(50/68)and 89.7%(61/68),respectively.Fifty-nine of68 patients(86.8%)were followed-up for>1 year after surgery,and 96.6%of these patients(57/59)had a good quality of life according to a criterion recommended for postoperative evaluation of quality of life.CONCLUSION:The pathological evolution-based clinical classification of HL has a role in optimizingtreatment strategy,and patients can benefit from thisclassification when it is used properly. | Fu-Bao Liu Xiao-Jun Yu Guo-Bing Wang Yi-Jun Zhao Kun Xie Fan Huang Jiang-Ming Cheng Xin-Rao Wu Chao-Jie Liang Xiao-Ping Geng | 2015 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2015,21,7: | 9 |
| 7 | Soil carbon sequestration under long-term rice-based cropping systems of purple soil in Southwest China显示文摘Carbon sequestration in agricultural soils is a complex process controlled by farming practices, climate and some other environment factors. Since purple soils are unique in China and used as the main cropland in Sichuan Basin of China, it is of great importance to study and understand the impacts of different fertilizer amendments on soil organic carbon(SOC) changes with time. A research was carried out to investigate the relationship between soil carbon sequestration and organic carbon input as affected by different fertilizer treatments at two long-term rice-based cropping system experiments set up in early 1980 s. Each experiment consisted of six identical treatments, including(1) no fertilizer(CK),(2) nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizers(NP),(3) nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium fertilizers(NPK),(4) fresh pig manure(M),(5) nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizers plus manure(MNP), and(6) nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium fertilizers plus manure(MNPK). The results showed that annual harvestable carbon biomass was the highest in the treatment of MNPK, followed by MNP and NPK, then M and NP, and the lowest in CK. Most of fertilizer treatments resulted in a significant gain in SOC ranging from 6.48 to 2 9.13% compared with the CK, and raised soil carbon sequestration rate to 0.10–0.53 t ha–1 yr-1. Especially, addition of manure on the basis of mineral fertilizers was very conducive to SOC maintenance in this soil. SOC content and soil carbon sequestration rate under balanced fertilizer treatments(NPK and MNPK) in the calcareous purple soil(Suining) were higher than that in the acid purple soil(Leshan). But carbon conversion rate at Leshan was 11.00%, almost 1.5 times of that(7.80%) at Suining. | 8 | Effect of particle gradation of aluminum on the explosion field pressure and temperature of RDX-based explosives in vacuum and air atmosphere显示文摘To optimize the energy output and improve the energy utilization efficiency of an aluminized explosive,an explosion device was developed and used to investigate the detonation pressure and temperature of R1(A16)aluminum powder and the aluminum powder particle gradation of R2(Al6+Al13),R3(Al6+Al24)and R4(Al6+AI flake)in a confined space.By using gas chromatography,quantitative analysis and calculations were carried out to analyze the gaseous detonation products.Finally,the reaction ratios of the aluminum powder and the explosion reaction equations were calculated.The results show that in a confined space,the quasi-static pressures and equilibrium temperature of the aluminum powder in air are higher than in vacuum.In vacuum,the quasi-static pressures and equilibrium temperatures of the samples in descending order are R1>R3>R4>R2 and R3>R4>R1>R2,respectively.In air,the quasi-static pressures and equilibrium telperatures of the samples in descending order are R1>R2>R4>R3 and R1>R4>R2>R3,respectively.R4(Al6+AI flake)and R3(Al6+A124)have relatively higher temperatures after detonation,which shows that the particle gradation method can enhance the reaction energy output of aluminum during the initial reaction stage of the explosion and increase the reaction ratio by10.6%and 8.0%,respectively.In air,the reaction ratio of AI6 aluminum powder can reach as high as 78.16%,and the reaction ratio is slightly reduced after particle gradation.Finally,the reaction equations of the explosives in vacuum and in air were calculated by quantitative analysis of the explosion products,which provides a powerful basis for the study of RDX-based explosive reactions. | Fan Jiang Xiao-feng Wang Ya-feng Huang Bo Feng Xuan Tian Yu-lei Niu Kun Zhang | 2019 | Defence Technology(防务技术)2019,15,6: | 8 |
| 9 | Hydrodynamics of a Newly China-Made Jiuling Bileaflet Heart Valve Prostheses显示文摘Jiuling bileaflet prosthetic heart valve is manufactured in compliance with the national standard of P.R.C. GB12279 90. This mechanical heart valve substitute is constructed entirely of solid low temperature pyrolytic carbon. There is no graphite substrate within the leaflets or orifice. This prosthesis presents with satisfactory histocompatibility and induces little hemocoagulation around it. Objective: This study aimed to assess the hydrodynamic function of the newly China made Jiuling bileaflet heart valve prostheses. Methods: Jiuling valve has been tested in a pulsatile flow simulator in the aortic position. The testing condition was set at the pulsatile frequency of 55, 75, and 100 beats/min and a constant cardiac output of 4 L/min. The mean pressure differences, leakage volumes and closing volumes across each valve, and the effective orifice areas have been analyzed. Results: The Jiuling heart valves prosthesis had the lowest pressure difference at any given tissue annulus diameter. The mean pressure difference of all the Jiuling valves decreases with increasing the tissue annulus diameter or pulse frequency, and is in the range of below 10 mmHg. CarboMedics (CarboMedics, Inc., Austin, Tex.) is similar to that of the 21 mm and 23 mm Jiuling heart valves at the given pulse rate under 4 L/min. C L tilting disc valve (Lanzhou CarboMedics Inc., China) is similar to that of the 23 mm Jiuling heart valve. The effective orifice area of the Jiuling mechanical valve increases with increasing the tissue annulus diameter or pulse frequency. CarboMedics and C L tilting disc valve is similar to that of the 21 mm and 23 mm Jiuling heart valves. The Closing volume of the Jiuling prosthetic cardiac valves increases with increasing the tissue annulus diameter, but decreases with increasing the pulse frequency, and is in the range of below 11% (normalized by stroke volume). CarboMedics is below 16.5% of stroke volume; and C L tilting disc valve is below 7.5%. The leakage volume of the Jiuling prosthetic cardiac valves increases with increasing the tissue annulus diameter, but decreases with increasing the pulse frequency, and are in the range of below 28.9% (normalized by stroke volume). The leakage volume of CarboMedics is higher than that of the same sized 25 mm Jiuling valve, and the C L tilting disc valve is also higher than that of Jiuling valve at 4 L/min. Conclusion: For a given tissue diameter, the Jiuling valve showed significantly better hemodynamic characteristics. The material used in the construction is biocompatible, durable, and thromboresistant. | 12 | Structure, composition and enzymatic hydrolysis of steam-exploded lespedeza stalks显示文摘Pretreatment of lespedeza stalks by steam explosion has been studied. The results indicate that steam-exploded pretreatment has strong effects on physical features, morphology, crystallinity, and composition of lespedeza stalks as shown by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), infrared (IR), and X-ray diffraction spectrometry methods. After steam explosion, the cellulose and lignin contents of lespedeza stalks varied only slightly, but the hemicellulose content had decreased from 29.34% to 7.48%. The cellulose obtained by steam-exploded pretreatment had a higher degree of crystallinity than that of the raw material. At the explosion condition of 2.25 MPa and 4 min, lignocellulose is easier to hydrolyze by enzyme than the original lignocellulose. | 13 | Transitional phenomenon of particle dispersion in gas-solid two-phase flows显示文摘Without using any turbulent model, direct numerical simulation of a three-dimensional gas-solid two-phase turbulent jet was performed by finite volume method. The effects on dispersion of particles with different Stokes numbers by the transitional behavior of turbulent structures were investigated. To produce high-resolution results and reduce the computation and storage, the fractional-step projection algorithm was used to solve the governing equations of gas phase fluid. The low-storage, three-order Runge-Kutta scheme was used for time integration. The governing equations of particles were solved in the Lagrangian framework. These numerical schemes were validated by the good agreement be-tween the statistical results of flow field and the related experimental data. In the study of particle dis-persion, it was found that the effects on particle dispersion by the spanwise vortex structures were prominent. | 16 | Anatomical variation of infra-pyloric artery origination: A prospective multicenter observational study (IPA-Origin)显示文摘Objective: Infra-pyloric artery(IPA) is an important anatomical landmark in treatment of gastric cancer and is the key vessel for pylorus-preserving gastrectomy and subgroup of infra-pyloric lymph nodes. However, its anatomical variation is not thoroughly understood. Our study aimed to clarify the origination of the IPA.Methods: We did this prospective, multicenter, open-label, observational study at gastric surgery departments of34 hospitals in China. Gastric cancer patients aged 18 years or older and scheduled to undergo elective total or distal gastrectomy were assigned. During the surgery, IPA dissecting and exposing the origination point with photographs or video clips were required. The primary outcome was the origination of the IPA. Analysis of variance, χ~2 tests and Fisher's tests were used to analyze the differences between groups. The study is registered at Clinicaltrials.gov(No. NCT03071237).Results: Between May 8 and July 31, 2017, 429 patients were assigned for the study, and 419(97.7%) patients had the IPA dissected and recorded through photograph or video and were included in the primary outcome analysis. The median age was 62 years old, and 73.7% were male. Among the patients, 78.5% received laparoscopic surgery. Single IPA origination was identified in 398(95.0%) patients, including gastroduodenal artery(GDA) in154(36.8%) patients, anterior superior pancreaticoduodenal artery(ASPDA) in 130(31.0%) patients, and right gastroepiploic artery(RGEA) in 114(27.2%) patients. Fifteen(3.6%) patients were identified with multiple IPA and 6(1.4%) patients were identified as IPA absence. The differences in the distribution of surgical approach(P=0.003) and geographic area(P=0.030) were statistically significant. | 17 | Targeted methylation sequencing reveals dysregulated Wnt signaling in Parkinson disease显示文摘Parkinson disease(PD) is a progressive neurodegenerative movement disorder. Both environmental and genetic factors play important roles in PD etiology. A number of environmental toxins cause parkinsonism in human and animal models. Genetic studies of rare early onset familial PD cases resulted in identification of disease-linked mutations in multiple genes. Nevertheless, the potential interaction between environment and genetics in PD pathogenesis remains largely unknown. We hypothesized that environmental factors induce abnormal epigenetic regulation that is involved in the pathogenesis of both familial and sporadic PD. We determined the global methylation status of 80,000e110,000 Cp G sites in each of the five sporadic PD patient brains and five age and postmodern interval matched control brains utilizing bisulfite padlock sequencing. Multiple genes involved in neurogenesis, particularly the ones in the Wnt signaling pathway, were hypermethylated in PD brains compared to their matched control brains. Consistent with the DNA methylation changes, marked reduction of protein expression was observed for four Wnt and neurogenesis related genes(FOXC1, NEURG2, SPRY1, and CTNNB1) in midbrain dopaminergic(DA) neurons of PD. The treatment of low concentration of 1-methyl-4-phenylpyridinium(MPPt) for cells resulted in downregulation of Wnt related genes.
