Melatonin: A master regulator of plant development and stress responses显示文摘Melatonin is a pleiotropic molecule with multiple functions in plants. Since the discovery of melatonin in plants, numerous studies have provided insight into the biosynthesis, catabolism, and physiological and biochemical functions of this important molecule. Here, we describe the biosynthesis of melatonin from tryptophan, as well as its various degradation pathways in plants. The identification of a putative melatonin receptor in plants has led to the hypothesis that melatonin is a hormone involved in regulating plant growth, aerial organ development, root morphology, and the floral transition. The universal antioxidant activity of melatonin and its role in preserving chlorophyll might explain its anti-senescence capacity in aging leaves. An impressive amount of research has focused on the role of melatonin in modulating postharvest fruit ripening by regulating the expression of ethylene-related genes.Recent evidence also indicated that melatonin functions in the plant's response to biotic stress, cooperating with other phytohormones and wellknown molecules such as reactive oxygen species and nitric oxide. Finally, great progress has been made towards understanding how melatonin alleviates the effects of various abiotic stresses, including salt, drought, extreme temperature, and heavy metal stress. Given its diverse roles, we propose that melatonin is a master regulator in plants. | Chengliang Sun Lijuan Liu Luxuan Wang Baohai Li Chongwei Jinand Xianyong Lin | 2021 | Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2021,63,1: | 14
Nitric oxide alleviates aluminum-induced oxidative damage through regulating the ascorbateglutathione cycle in roots of wheat显示文摘The possible association with nitric oxide(NO) and ascorbate-glutathione(As A-GSH) cycle in regulating aluminum(Al) tolerance of wheat(Triticum aestivum L.) was investigated using two genotypes with different Al resistance. Exposure to Al inhibited root elongation, and triggered lipid peroxidation and oxidation of As A to dehydroascorbate and GSH to glutathione disulfide in wheat roots. Exogenous NO significantly increased endogenous NO levels, and subsequently alleviated Al-induced inhibition of root elongation and oxidation of As A and GSH to maintain the redox molecules in the reduced form in both wheat genotypes. Under Al stress, significantly increased activities and gene transcriptional levels of ascorbate peroxidase, glutathione reductase, and dehydroascorbate reductase, were observed in the root tips of the Al-tolerant genotype Jian-864. Nitric oxide application enhanced the activity and gene transcriptional level of these enzymes in both wheat genotypes. g-Glutamylcysteine synthetase was not significantly Researaffected by Al or NO, but NO treatments increased the activity of glutathione peroxidase and glutathione S-transferase to a greater extent than the Al-treated wheat seedlings. Proline was significantly decreased by Al, while it was not affected by NO.These results clearly suggest that NO protects wheat root against Al-induced oxidative stress, possibly through its regulation of the As A-GSH cycle. | Chengliang Sun Lijuan Liu Yan Yu Wenjing Liu Lingli Lu Chongwei Jin Xianyong Lin | 2015 | Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2015,57,6: | 10
Comparison of labeling methods and time course of traumatic brain injury-induced cell death in mice显示文摘BACKGROUND:Various molecular mechanisms of cell death following traumatic brain injury have been previously described. However, the time course of cell death remains unclear.TUNEL and Fluoro-Jade B labeling have been widely used to label apoptotic cells and neuronal degeneration.Propidium iodide (PI) functions as a biomarker of cell death in vivo.OBJECTIVE:To explore the role of PI labeling compared to TUNEL and Fluoro-Jade B staining for detecting neural cell death, and to observe time course of traumatic brain injury-induced cell death in mice.DESIGN,TIME AND SETTING:A randomized, controlled, animal experiment was performed at the Laboratory of Aging and Nervous Diseases,Soochow University from September 2007 to December 2008.MATERIALS:PI (B1221) was purchased from Sigma,USA.TUNEL kit was purchased from Roche Molecular Biochemicals,USA.Fluoro-Jade B was purchased from Chemicon,USA.METHODS:A total of 70 healthy, male,Kunming mice were randomly assigned to sham-surgery (n=5) and model (n=65) groups.Traumatic brain injury was established using the controlled cortical impact method.PI was intraperitoneally injected at 1 hour prior to animal sacrifice.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES:TUNEL,Fluoro-Jade B,and PI-positive cells were quantified using a double-labeling method to determine the time course of traumatic brain injury-induced cell death.RESULTS:PI labeled cells in an earlier phase of cell death than TUNEL and Fluoro-Jade B labeling.PI-positive cells were observed immediately following injury, and the numbers rapidly increased in injured brain areas at 1 hour, peaked at 24-48 hours, and subsequently decreased at 3-21 days post-injury.TUNEL-labeled cells were significantly increased at 12 hours, while Fluoro-Jade B-labeled cells were increased at 6 hours after injury, with cells still visible at 6-48 hours post-injury.Moreover,a greater number of PI-positive cells were observed compared to TUNEL-and Fluoro-Jade B-labeled cells.CONCLUSION:PI labeling is more sensitive and reliable than TUNEL and Fluoro-Jade B staining for detecting cell death following traumatic brain injury. Moreover,PI labeling can function as a reliable marker to estimate the entire time course of cell death. | Chengliang Luo Xiping Chen Hong Ni Qianqian Li Rui Yang Yuxia Sun Guangyou Zhu Luyang Tao | 2010 | Neural Regeneration Research2010,5,9: | 6

Observation and research of deep underground multi-physical fields—Huainan–848 m deep experiment显示文摘Compared with the surface, the deep environment has the advantages of allowing“super-quiet and ultra-clean”-geophysical field observation with low vibration noise and little electromagnetic interference, which are conducive to the realization of long-term and high-precision observation of multi-physical fields, thus enabling the solution of a series of geoscience problems. In the Panyidong Coal Mine, where there are extensive underground tunnels at the depth of 848 m below sea level,we carried out the first deep-underground geophysical observations, including radioactivity, gravity, magnetic, magnetotelluric, background vibration and six-component seismic observations. We concluded from these measurements that(1)the background of deep subsurface gravity noise in the long-period frequency band less than 2 Hz is nearly two orders of magnitude weaker than that in the surface observation environment;(2)the underground electric field is obviously weaker than the surface electric field, and the relatively high frequency of the underground field, greater than 1 Hz,is more than two orders of magnitude weaker than that of the surface electric field;the east-west magnetic field underground is approximately the same as that at the surface;the relatively high-frequency north-south magnetic field underground, below 10 Hz,is at least one order of magnitude lower than that at the surface, showing that the underground has a clean electromagnetic environment;(3)in addition to the highfrequency and single-frequency noises introduced by underground human activities, the deep underground space has a significantly lower background vibration noise than the surface, which is very beneficial to the detection of weak earthquake and gravity signals;and(4)the underground roadway support system built with ferromagnetic material interferes the geomagnetic field. We also found that for deep observation in the“ultra-quiet and ultra-clean”environment,the existing geophysical equipment and observation technology have problems of poor adaptability and insufficient precision as well as data cleaning problems, such as the effective separation of the signal and noise of deep observation data.It is also urgent to interpret and comprehensively utilize these high-precision multi-physics observation data. | Yun WANG Yaxin YANG Heping SUN Chengliang XIE Qisheng ZHANG Xiaoming CUI Chang CHEN Yongsheng HE Qiangqiang MIAO Chaomin MU Lianghui GUO Jiwen TENG | 2023 | Science China Earth Sciences2023,66,1: | 3
Improving forest burn severity estimations with partial least squares regression and orthogonal signal correction methods in Daxing'an Mountains,China显示文摘Several indices and simple empirical models and ratios of single band from pre-and post-fire Landsat images have been developed to estimate and/or map burn severity. However, these models and indices are usually site-,time-and vegetation-dependent and their applications are limited. The Daxing'an Mountains range has the largest forested area in China and is prone to wildfires.Whether or not the existing models can effectively characterize the burn severity over a large region is unclear. In this study,we used the orthogonal signal correction method based on partial least squares regression(PLSR)to select those variables that better interpret the variance of burn severity.A new index and other commonly used indices were used to construct a new, multivariate PLSR model which was compared with the popular single variable models, according to three assessment indices:relative root mean square error(RMSE%),relative bias(R E%)and Nash–Sutcliffe efficiency(NSE%).The results indicate that the multivariate PLSR model performed better than the other single variable models with higher NSE%(68.2%vs.67.8%)and less RE%(3.7%vs.-8.7%),while achieving almost the same R MSE%.We also discuss the spectral characteristics of the four selected variables for constructing the multivariate PLSR model and their correlation with the field burn severity data. The new model developed from this study should help to better understand the patterns of forest burn severity and assist in vegetation restoration efforts in the region. | Cunyong Ju Tijiu Cai Wenhong Li Ge Sun Chengliang Lei Xueying Di Xiuling Man | 2021 | Journal of Forestry Research2021,32,3: | 2
Molecular functions of nitric oxide and its potential applications in horticultural crops显示文摘Nitric oxide(NO)regulates plant growth, enhances nutrient uptake, and activates disease and stress tolerance mechanisms in most plants, making NO a potential tool for use in improving the yield and quality of horticultural crop species.Although the use of NO in horticulture is still in its infancy, research on NO in model plant species has provided an abundance of valuable information on horticultural crop species.Emerging evidence implies that the bioactivity of NO can occur through many potential mechanisms but occurs mainly through S-nitrosation,the covalent and reversible attachment of NO to cysteine thiol. In this context,NO signaling specifically affects crop development, immunity, and environmental interactions. Moreover,NO can act as a fumigant against a wide range of postharvest diseases and pests. However, for effective use of NO in horticulture, both understanding and exploring the biological significance and potential mechanisms of NO in horticultural crop species are critical. This review provides a picture of our current understanding of how NO is synthesized and transduced in plants, and particular attention is given to the significance of NO in breaking seed dormancy, balancing root growth and development, enhancing nutrient acquisition, mediating stress responses, and guaranteeing food safety for horticultural production. | Chengliang Sun Yuxue Zhang Lijuan Liu Xiaoxia Liu Baohai Li Chongwei Jin Xianyong Lin | 2021 | Horticulture Research2021,8,1: | 2
A branched dihydrophenazine-based polymer as a cathode material to achieve dual-ion batteries with high energy and power density显示文摘Organic electrode materials have exhibited good electrochemical performance in batteries, but their voltages and rate capabilities still require improvement to meet the increasing demand for batteries with high energy and power density.Herein,we design and synthesize a branched dihydrophenazine-based polymer(p-TPPZ)as a cathode material for dual-ion batteries(DIBs)through delicate molecular design.Compared with the linear dihydrophenazine-based polymer(p-DPPZ,with a theoretical capacity of 209 mAh g^(−1)),p-TPPZ possessed a higher theoretical capacity of 233 mAh g^(−1)and lower highest occupied molecular orbital energy levels, which resulted in a high actual capacity(169.3 mAh g^(−1)at 0.5 C),an average discharge voltage of 3.65 V(vs.Li+/Li)and a high energy density(618.2 Wh kg^(−1),based on the cathode materials). The branched structure of p-TPPZ led to a larger specific surface area than that of p-DPPZ,which was beneficial for the electrolyte infiltration and fast ionic transport, contributing to the high power density.Due to the fast reaction kinetics, even at a power density of 23,725 W kg^(−1)(40 C),the energy density still reached 474.5 Wh kg^(−1).We also made a detailed investigation of the p-TPPZ cathode’s charge storage mechanism. This work will stimulate the further molecular design to develop organic batteries with both high energy and power density. | Shuaifei Xu Huichao Dai Shaolong Zhu Yanchao Wu Mingxuan Sun Yuan Chen Kun Fan Chenyang Zhang Chengliang Wang Wenping Hu | 2021 | eScience2021,1,1: | 2

A New Fragile Watermarking Scheme for Text Documents Authentication显示文摘Because there are different modification types of deleting characters and inserting characters in text documents, the algorithms for image authentication can not be used for text documents authentication directly. A text watermarking scheme for text document authentication is proposed in this paper. By extracting the features of character cascade together with the user secret key, the scheme combines the features of the text with the user information as a watermark which is embedded into the transformed text itself. The receivers can verify the integrity and the authentication of the text through the blind detection technique. A further research demonstrates that it can also localize the tamper, classify the type of modification, and recover part of modified text documents. The aforementioned conclusion has been proved by both our experiment results and analysis. | XIANG Huazheng SUN Xingming TANG Chengliang | 2006 | Wuhan University Journal of Natural Sciences2006,11,6: | 1
Anti‐noise diesel engine misfire diagnosis using a multi‐scale CNN‐LSTM neural network with denoising module显示文摘Currently, accuracy of existing diesel engine fault diagnosis methods under strong noise and generalisation performance between different noise levels are still limited.A novel multi‐scale CNN‐LSTM neural network(MSCNN‐LSTMNet)is proposed with a residual‐CNN denoising module for anti‐noise diesel engine misfire diagnosis.First,a residual‐CNN module is designed for denoising the original vibration signal measured from the diesel engine cylinder and residual loss for constructing a new loss function is utilised.Considering the essential characteristics of measured vibration signals at different scales,a multi‐scale convolutional NN(CNN)block is designed to realize multi‐scale feature extraction.Specifically, multiple convolution layers with different branches and different convolution kernel sizes are utilised to extract different time scales features, enhancing the robustness of the model. On this basis, the LSTM is utilised to further extract sequential features for improving anti‐noise and generalisa-tion performances. The effectiveness of MSCNN‐LSTMNet is validated by experi-mental results of both one‐and hybrid‐cylinder diesel engine misfires diagnosis under various noise levels and working conditions. The results demonstrate that MSCNN‐LSTMNet achieved much better anti‐noise and generalisation performances than the existing methods.Under strong noise conditions(−10 dB signal‐to‐noise ratio)for four datasets,MSCNN‐LSTMNet obtained 97.561%average accuracy, while average accuracy for random forest, deep neural network,CNN and MSCNNNet were 73.828%,79.544%,82.247%,and 89.741%,respectively.Moreover,for 11 noise generalisation tasks between different noise levels,MSCNN‐LSTMNet obtained at least 96.679%,97.849%,98.892%,and 94.010%accuracy on the four datasets, which are much higher than those of the existing methods. | Chengjin Qin Yanrui Jin Zhinan Zhang Honggan Yu Jianfeng Tao Hao Sun Chengliang Liu | 2023 | CAAI Transactions on Intelligence Technology2023,8,3: | 1

New Strategies for Nitrogen Fixation and Pollution Control显示文摘In the context of sustainable development and carbon neutrality, great efforts have been dedicated to the utilization of green energy such as sunlight and renewable electricity to tackle problems encountered amid energy-and emission-intensive industries like nitrogen fixation.Despite significant progress made in the photocatalytic and electrocatalytic nitrogen fixation, they are still limited by the insufficient activity due to poor N_(2) activation.Herein,we reviewed our work focusing on the rational design of active sites for the efficient photocatalytic and electrocatalytic activation of molecular N_(2),including oxygen vacancy of BiOX,plasmonic Ru and Fe on TiO_(2-x)H_(y),interfacial polarization field of single-atom Fe and strained core-shell Ru nanoparticles.Besides, this review also covers our endeavor to deal with environmental pollution based on the iron redox chemistry, including the O_(2) activation by low-valent iron species, the acceleration of iron redox cycle to improve Fenton-like reactivity, and the development of novel zero-valent iron. | Hongwei Sun Fengjiao Quan Chengliang Mao Lizhi Zhang | 2021 | Chinese Journal of Chemistry2021,39,12: | 0
Aluminum scandium nitride thin-film bulk acoustic resonators for 5G wideband applications显示文摘Bulk acoustic wave(BAW)filters have been extensively used in consumer products for mobile communication systems due to their high performance and standard complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor(CMOS)compatible integration process. However,it is challenging for a traditional aluminum nitride(AlN)-based BAW filter to meet several allocated 5G bands with more than a 5%fractional bandwidth via an acoustic-only approach. In this work,we propose an Al_(0.8)Sc_(0.2)N-based film bulk acoustic wave resonator(FBAR)for the design of radio frequency(RF)filters.By taking advantage of a high-quality Al_(0.8)Sc_(0.2)N thin film, the fabricated resonators demonstrate a large K_(eff)^(2) of 14.5%and an excellent figure of merit(FOM)up to 62.The temperature coefficient of frequency(TCF)of the proposed resonator is measured to be−19.2 ppm/℃,indicating excellent temperature stability. The fabricated filter has a center frequency of 4.24 GHz,a−3 dB bandwidth of 215 MHz,a small insertion loss(IL)of 1.881 dB,and a rejection>32 dB.This work paves the way for the realization of wideband acoustic filters operating in the 5G band. | Yang Zou Chao Gao Jie Zhou Yan Liu Qinwen Xu Yuanhang Qu WenJuan Liu Jeffrey Bo Woon Soon Yao Cai Chengliang Sun | 2022 | Microsystems & Nanoengineering2022,8,6: | 0
多中心骨巨细胞瘤9例报道与文献分析(英文)显示文摘Objective:The aim of this study was to investigate the clinical, radiographic and histiopathologic features of multicentric giant cell tumor of bone. Methods:All the clinical data of twenty tumors in nine patients of multicentric giant cell tumor that underwent surgical treatment in our department from 1990 to 2010 were retrospectively reviewed, which included three males and six females. The patients ranged from 15 to 45 years at diagnosis, with an average age of 22.3 years.Three of the patients were younger than twenty years of age. Most tumors arose in long bones, especially around the knee.Radiographically, the tumors in long bones usually manifested as expansive lytic lesions involving the metaphysis and extending into the epiphysis.Three tumors in three patients were confined to the metaphysis, and one tumor exhibited bone-forming lesions. All tumors were treated with curettage or resection. Results:The typical 'giant cell' could be found in the oncologic examination in all cases. In some areas, such as the fibrohistiocytic regions, reactive bone forming and aneurysmal bone cyst-like changes could be found.Follow-up averaged 3.5 years, ranging from 6 months to 12 years. There was a recurrence of three tumors, and one patient died of pulmonary metastasis. Conclusion:Multicentric giant cell tumor occur often in younger patients than do solitary giant cell tumor. They are frequently present around the knee, and confined to the metaphysis. Each tumor arose independently, rather than being in multiple sites of metastatic lesion that develop from a single tumor. The risk of recurrence depends on the type of surgery that is performed. | Chengliang Sun Jun Dong Dong Li Xiumei Liu Licheng liu | 2011 | The Chinese-German Journal of Clinical Oncology2011,10,8: | 0

The putative propeptide of MycP1 in mycobacterial type VII secretion system does not inhibit protease activity but improves protein stability显示文摘Mycosin-1 protease(MycP1)is a serine protease anchored to the inner membrane of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, and is essential in virulence factor secretion through the ESX-1 type VII secretion system(T7SS).Bacterial physiology studies demonstrated that MycP1 plays a dual role in the regulation of ESX-1 secretion and virulence, primarily through cleavage of its secretion substrate EspB.MycP1 contains a putative N-terminal inhibitory propeptide and a catalytic triad of Asp-His-Ser,classic hallmarks of a sub-tilase family serine protease. The MycP1 propeptide was previously reported to be initially inactive and activated after prolonged incubation. In this study,we have deter-mined crystal structures of MycP1 with(MycP124-422)and without(MycP1^(63-422))the propeptide, and conducted EspB cleavage assays using the two proteins.Very high struc-tural similarity was observed in the two crystal structures.Interestingly, protease assays demonstrated positive EspB cleavage for both proteins, indicating that the putative propeptide does not inhibit protease activity.Molecu-lar dynamic simulations showed higher rigidity in regions guarding the entrance to the catalytic site in MycP124-422 than in MycP1^(63-422),suggesting that the putative propeptide might contribute to the conformational stability of the active site cleft and surrounding regions. | Demeng Sun Qing Liu Yao He Chengliang Wang Fangming Wu Changlin Tian Jianye Zang | 2013 | Protein & Cell2013,4,12: | 0
