| 2 | Effects of tourmaline on nitrogen removal performance and biofilm structures in the sequencing batch biofilm reactor显示文摘The effects of tourmaline on nitrogen removal performance and biofilm structures were comparatively investigated in two identical laboratory-scale sequencing batch biofilm reactors(SBBRs)(denoted SBBR1 and SBBR2) at different nitrogen loading rates(NLRs) varying from(0.24 ± 0.01) to(1.26 ± 0.02) g N/(L·day). SBBR1 was operated in parallel with SBBR2, but SBBR1 was filled with polyurethane foam loaded tourmaline(TPU) carriers and another(SBBR2) filled with polyurethane foam(PU) carriers. Results obtained from this study showed that the excellent and stable performance of SBBR1 was obtained. Ammonia nitrogen removal and total nitrogen removal were higher in SBBR1 than that in SBBR2 with increase of NLR. At an NLR of(0.24 ± 0.01) g N/(L·day), the majority of the spherical and elliptical bacteria were surrounded by the extracellular polymeric substance(EPS) and bacillus or filamentous bacteria in two SBBRs biofilms. When NLR increased to(1.26 ± 0.02) g N/(L·day), the clusters were more obvious in the SBBR1 biofilm than that in the SBBR2 biofilm. Bacteria in SBBR1 were inclined to synthesis more EPS, and the formed EPS could protect the bacteria from free ammonia(FA) under extreme condition NLR(1.26 ± 0.02) g N/(L·day). | 3 | Effect of drag reducing riblet surface on coherent structure in turbulent boundary layer显示文摘The characteristics of turbulent boundary layer over streamwise aligned drag reducing riblet surface under zero-pressure gradient are investigated using particle image velocimetry. The formation and distribution of large-scale coherent structures and their effect on momentum partition are analyzed using two-point correlation and probability density function. Compared with smooth surface, the streamwise riblets reduce the friction velocity and Reynolds stress in the turbulent boundary layer, indicating the drag reduction effect. Strong correlation has been found between the occurrence of hairpin vortices and the momentum distribution. The number and streamwise length scale of hairpin vortices decrease over streamwise riblet surface. | 4 | Effects of surface shapes on properties of turbulent/non-turbulent interface in turbulent boundary layers显示文摘The effects of directional riblets surfaces on the turbulent/non-turbulent(T/NT) interface in turbulent boundary layers are experimentally investigated using two-dimensional time-resolved particle image velocimetry(PIV). The velocity field of streamwise-wall-normal plane for the smooth surface, converging and diverging riblets surfaces are measured. The interface is detected using the criterion of local kinetic energy. The statistical properties of interface height and conditional averaged velocity for different surfaces are analyzed. It is shown that, the converging and diverging riblets surfaces have little effect on the fractal dimension of the T/NT interface, but they cause the intermittency profile deviate from error function and the probability distribution of interface height deviate from Gaussian function. To be specific, the distribution of interface height for the converging riblets surface shows a positive skewness while it shows a negative skewness for the diverging riblets surface.Moreover, the conditional averaged streamwise velocity and spanwise vorticity across the interface are analyzed, and it is found that their self-similarities are preserved for different surfaces when normalized with respective friction velocity. | 9 | Ⅲ/Ⅴ-on-Si MQW lasers by using a novel photonic integration method of regrowth on a bonding template显示文摘Silicon photonics is becoming a mainstream data-transmission solution for next-generation data centers,highperformance computers,and many emerging applications.The inefficiency of light emission in silicon still requires the integration of a Ⅲ/Ⅴ laser chip or optical gain materials onto a silicon substrate.A number of integration approaches,including flip-chip bonding,molecule or polymer wafer bonding,and monolithic Ⅲ/Ⅴ epitaxy,have been extensively explored in the past decade.Here,we demonstrate a novel photonic integration method of epitaxial regrowth of Ⅲ/Ⅴ on a Ⅲ/Ⅴ-on-SOI bonding template to realize heterogeneous lasers on silicon.This method decouples the correlated root causes,i.e.,lattice,thermal,and domain mismatches,which are all responsible for a large number of detrimental dislocations in the heteroepitaxy process.The grown multi-quantum well vertical p-i-n diode laser structure shows a significantly low dislocation density of 9.5×104 cm^(−2),two orders of magnitude lower than the state-of-the-art conventional monolithic growth on Si.This low dislocation density would eliminate defect-induced laser lifetime concerns for practical applications.The fabricated lasers show room-temperature pulsed and continuous-wave lasing at 1.31μm,with a minimal threshold current density of 813 A/cm^(2).This generic concept can be applied to other material systems to provide higher integration density,more functionalities and lower total cost for photonics as well as microelectronics,MEMS,and many other applications. | Yingtao Hu Di Liang Kunal Mukherjee Youli Li Chong Zhang Geza Kurczveil Xue Huang Raymond G.Beausoleil | 2019 | Light(Science & Applications)2019,8,1: | 1 |

| 11 | A Design Method of the Rotor Auxiliary Slot for the Water-filled Submersible Induction Motors显示文摘Aiming at the problem of electromagnetic vibration of the water-filled submersible induction motor(WSIM),a method of opening auxiliary slots on the rotor side is proposed to weaken the air-gap field harmonics caused by the rotor slot permeance harmonics.By analyzing the research status of electromagnetic vibration of the WSIM and the composition of the air-gap magnetic field of the motor,the idea that the auxiliary slots mainly affect the air-gap field harmonics by changing the air-gap permeance of the motor is put forward.The mathematical model of air-gap permeance of WSIM is established to simulate the influence of auxiliary slots on the air-gap permeance.Through the parametric analysis of the mathematical model,the change of auxiliary slot size is simulated.The air-gap permeance waveform is decomposed by the two-dimensional Fourier transform,and then the variation of the air-gap permeance harmonics with the size of the auxiliary slot is analyzed.Finally,the finite element simulation model of the WSIM with the auxiliary slots is established,and the waveform of the air-gap flux density of the motor is analyzed to verify the effectiveness of the mathematical model.Meanwhile,the results show that after opening the auxiliary slot,the radial electromagnetic force of the motor was reduced by 28.4%. | Jiaxin Li Jingwen Yan Chong Di Xiaohua Bao Qinglong Zhu | 2022 | CES Transactions on Electrical Machines and Systems2022,6,1: | 1 |

| 14 | Postpartum Hemorrhage Following Cesarean Delivery in Women with a Scarred Uterus:A Retrospective Cohort Study显示文摘Objective:To develop a model to predict the risk of postpartum hemorrhage(PPH)following cesarean delivery in women with a scarred uterus.Methods:A total of 4,637 pregnant women with scarred uterus who underwent a cesarean delivery at a large hospital between January 2014 and December 2017 were enrolled.The women were divided into PPH(n=287)and non-PPH(n=4,350)groups.A model to predict PPH(blood loss≥1,000 mL within 24 h following cesarean delivery)was developed using multivariate logistic regression analysis.Receiver operating characteristic curve was drawn,and the area under curve(AUC)was calculated.Results:The incidence of PPH was 6.19%(287 of 4,637 women).Seven independent risk factors were associated with PPH:maternal age(odds ratio[OR]=1.42,95%confidence interval[CI]:1.02-1.97),previous gravidity(OR=1.24,95%CI:1.01-1.50),placental location(posterior wall of uterus,OR=0.69,95%CI:0.47-1.02;other locations,OR=1.21,95%CI:0.81-1.80),placenta previa(incomplete placenta previa,OR=10.51,95%CI:5.99-18.42;complete placenta previa,OR=31.65,95%CI:21.07-47.54),placenta accreta(OR=6.39,95%CI:4.02-10.16),hypertensive disorders of pregnancy(OR=2.27,95%CI:1.40-3.68),and fetal position(breech position,OR=2.07,95%CI:1.19-3.60;transverse position,OR=1.07,95%CI:0.48-2.41).A predictive model with AUC of 0.89 was developed(95%CI:0.86-0.91,P<0.001).Conclusions:A model was developed to predict PPH following cesarean delivery in women with a scarred uterus. | Bing-Nan Chen Di Wang Jia-Po Li Li-Yang Zhang Chong Qiao | 2019 | Reproductive and Developmental Medicine2019,3,4: | 1 |

It ischaracterized by adult onset, lack of autoantibodies, inflammatory bowel diseaseand loss of interlobular bile ducts.CASE SUMMARY This case presents a 27-year-old woman with elevation of transaminases andalkaline phosphatase without clinical symptoms. Five years ago, the patient hadabnormal transaminases but no cholestasis. Three months before admission,physical examination revealed an increase in transaminases. Oralhepatoprotective drugs did not show any significant improvement, and she wasadmitted to hospital for further diagnosis and treatment. Liver biopsy confirmedIAD. | 18 | Improved methodology for efficient establishment of the myocardial ischemia-reperfusion model in pigs through the median thoracic incision显示文摘To investigate the feasibility and effectiveness of establishing porcine ischemia-reperfusion models by ligating the left anterior descending(LAD)coronary artery,we first randomly divided 16 male Bama pigs into a sham group and a model group.After anesthesia,we separated the arteries and veins.Subsequently,we rapidly located the LAD coronary artery at the beginning of its first diagonal branch through a mid-chest incision.Then,we loosened and released the ligation line after five minutes of pre-occlusion.Finally,we ligated the LAD coronary artery in situ two minutes later and loosened the ligature 60 min after ischemia.Compared with the sham group,electrocardiogram showed multiple continuous lead ST-segment elevations,and ultrasound cardiogram showed significantly lower ejection fraction and left ventricular fractional shortening at one hour and seven days post-operation in the model group.Twenty-four hours after the operation,cardiac troponin T and creatine kinase-MB isoenzyme levels significantly increased in the model group,compared with the sham group.Hematoxylin and eosin staining showed the presence of many inflammatory cells infiltrating the interstitium of the myocardium in the model group but not in the sham group.Masson staining revealed a significant increase in infarct size in the ischemia/reperfusion group.All eight pigs in the model group recovered with normal sinus heart rates,and the survival rate was 100%.In conclusion,the method can provide an accurate and stable large animal model for preclinical research on ischemia/reperfusion with a high success rate and homogeneity of the myocardial infarction area. | Liuhua Zhou Jiateng Sun Tongtong Yang Sibo Wang Tiankai Shan Lingfeng Gu Jiawen Chen Tianwen Wei Di Zhao Chong Du Yulin Bao Hao Wang Xiaohu Lu Haoliang Sun Meng Lv Di Yang Liansheng Wang | 2023 | The Journal of Biomedical Research2023,37,4: | 1 |

| 20 | En bloc resection for treatment of refractory pre-auricular fistula显示文摘Objective: To report a surgical method for the treatment of pre-auricular fistula to lower post-operative recurrence rate.Methods: Clinical data of 187 patients with pre-auricular fistula who underwent en bloc resection at the Affiliated Hospital of Luzhou Medical College from August 2006 to November 2012 were retrospectively reviewed. Factors that might affect the prognosis following En bloc fistula resection bordered by the superficial temporalis fascia, helix perichondrium and auriculocephalic sulcus were investigated.Results: Of the 187 patients, 181 achieved primary healing and 6 ended up with delayed healing. During the follow-up period(one to seven years), there were 4 cases of recurrence(2.1%).Conclusions: Clear demarcation of surgical resection can facilitate easy and thorough resection of preauricular fistula and lead to low recurrence rate.
