2Evolution and global correlation for strontium isotopic composition of marine Triassic from Huaying Mountains,eastern Sichuan,China显示文摘Strontium isotope stratigraphy (SIS) has progressively become an efficient chemostratigraphic tool in the research and correlation of global geological events, such as global sea level fluctuations, orogeny, and paleoclimatic and paleoenvironmental changes. In this paper, 87Sr/86Sr ratios of the Triassic marine carbonate rock samples from Huaying Mountains, eastern Sichuan are measured, and the corre-sponding Sr-isotopic curve is constructed, based on the fundamental principle of strontium isotope stratigraphy, analysis of rock fabric, luminescent intensity, chemical composition and representative evaluation for the coeval seawater information. The 87Sr/86Sr ratios show a rapid rise from 0.70721 near the Permian-Triassic transition to 0.70830 at the end of Early Triassic, and then they decline rapidly to 0.70787 in the early Middle Triassic. These data are generally coincident with 87Sr/86Sr ratios of coeval seawater from previous papers, and the curve is also similar to other previous curves. 3Inorganic nitrate alleviates the senescence-related decline in liver function显示文摘Senescence-related decline in liver function is a common complication in the elderly that can lead to impaired health in older individuals.Dietary nitrate supplements have physiological and therapeutic effects on organ function by nitrate(NO_3^-)-nitrite(NO_2^-)-nitric oxide(NO)pathway.However,the role of dietary nitrate on the senescence-related decline in liver function is unclear.The findings of the present study showed that nitrate levels in the serum and liver decreased,whereas the levels of alanine aminotransferase(ALT)and aspartate aminotransferase(AST)in serum increased in ageing mice.Consistently,cell senescence,decreased glycogen levels and increased lipid deposition were found in the liver of aged mice,both glucokinase(GCK)and phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase(PCK)were down-regulated(n=10).Daily nitrate intake(0.5 mmol L^(-1))restored nitrate levels,decreased ALT and AST levels,and prevented cell senescence and structural and glucose and lipid metabolism degeneration in liver tissue both in D-galactose(D-gal)-induced ageing mice(n=10)and in natural aged mice(n=10).In conclusion,the present study demonstrated that the reduction of nitrate levels was correlated with liver degeneration in ageing individuals and that dietary supplement of nitrate could restore the nitrate levels in serum and the liver and prevent ageing-related liver degeneration.Haifeng Wang Lei Hu Le Li Xiaoshan Wu Zhipeng Fan Chunmei Zhang Jinsong Wang Jidong Jia Songlin Wang 2018Science China(Life Sciences)2018,61,1:5
4Mirror image:newfangled cell-level layout technique for single-event transient mitigation显示文摘Recent years,the hardening of combinational circuits is becoming a common concern.Unlike the transistor-level hardening technique,the cell-level hardening technique,a divide and conquer strategy,can substantially make use of some typical character in the cell-circuit module to mitigate single event transient(SET)sensitivity.The mirror image(MI)technique proposed in this paper can adequately enhance the charge sharing in those cell-circuits with stage-by-stage inverter-like structure.3D TCAD mixed-mode simulation have been performed in 65 nm twinwell bulk CMOS process,the results indicate that the MI technique can almost reduce the SET pulse width from the anterior-stage PMOS over 25%,and can mitigate the SET pulse width from the posterior-stage PMOS about 10%.The MI technique,a represent of the cell-level technique,may be the future of the hardening of combinational circuits.Pengcheng Huang Shuming Chen Zhengfa Liang Jianjun Chen Chunmei Hu Yibai He 2014Chinese Science Bulletin2014,59,23:4
5Polarization-independent all-silicon dielectric metasurfaces in the terahertz regime显示文摘Dielectric metasurfaces have achieved great success in realizing high-efficiency wavefront control in the optical and infrared ranges. Here, we experimentally demonstrate several efficient, polarization-independent, all-silicon dielectric metasurfaces in the terahertz regime. The metasurfaces are composed of cylindrical silicon pillars on a silicon substrate, which can be easily fabricated using etching technology for semiconductors. By locally tailoring the diameter of the pillars, full control over abrupt phase changes can be achieved. To show the controlling ability of the metasurfaces, an anomalous deflector, three Bessel beam generators, and three vortex beam generators are fabricated and characterized. We also show that the proposed metasurfaces can be easily combined to form composite devices with extended functionalities. 6Microglia-Derived NLRP3 Activation Mediates the Pressor Effect of Prorenin in the Rostral Ventrolateral Medulla of Stress-Induced Hypertensive Rats显示文摘Increased microglial activation and neuroinflammation within autonomic brain regions such as the rostral ventrolateral medulla(RVLM)have been implicated in stress-induced hypertension(SIH).Prorenin,a member of the brain renin-angiotensin system(RAS),can directly activate microglia.The present study aimed to investigate the effects of prorenin on microglial activation in the RVLM of SIH rats.Rats were subjected to intermittent electric foot-shocks plus noise,this stress was administered for 2 h twice daily for 15 consecutive days,and mean arterial pressure(MAP)and renal sympathetic nerve activity(RSNA)were monitored.The results showed that MAP and RSNA were augmented,and this paralleled increased pro-inflammatory phenotype(M1)switching.Prorenin and its receptor(PRR)expression and the NLR family pyrin domain containing 3(NLRP3)activation were increased in RVLM of SIH rats.In addition,PLX5622(a microglial depletion agent),MCC950(a NLRP3 inhibitor),and/or PRO20(a(Pro)renin receptor antagonist)had antihypertensive effects in the rats.The NLRP3 expression in the RVLM was decreased in SIH rats treated with PLX5622.Mito-tracker staining showed translocation of NLRP3 from mitochondria to the cytoplasm in proreninstimulated microglia.Prorenin increased the ROS-triggering M1 phenotype-switching and NLRP3 activation,while MCC950 decreased the M1 polarization.In conclusion,upregulated prorenin in the RVLM may be involved in the pathogenesis of SIH,mediated by activation of the microglia-derived NLRP3 inflammasome.The link between prorenin and NLRP3 in microglia provides insights for the treatment of stress-related hypertension.Li Hu Shutian Zhang Kokwin Ooi Xuehai Wu Jiaxiang Wu Jian Cai Yinggang Sun Jijiang Wang Danian Zhu Fuxue Chen Chunmei Xia 2020Neuroscience Bulletin2020,36,5:3
7Application of image alignment and time averaging methods in AFM detection for single DNA molecules显示文摘Enhancement of the SNR (signal to noise ratio) in single-molecule imaging is significantly important for improving image resolu-tion and distinguishing the fine structures of single molecules at a higher precision level.Image processing techniques have dem-onstrated the remarkable capability to improve the SNR and the resolution level by breaking through some inherent limitations unresolved by instrument hardware optimization.In this paper, we focus on single-biomolecule imaging using atomic force mi-croscopy (AFM), a unique method in separated single-biomolecule imaging, and there was few suitable image processing tech-niques reported to increase the SNR of a single molecule’s AFM image.With the typical samples of separately dispersed DNA molecules, we replaced the classified averaging method, which is usually used when the molecules’ structure can be easily and repeatedly prepared, with the time averaging method to improve the SNR in a single molecule’s AFM imaging.Combining the time averaging technique with the image alignment method for the series of time-lapse AFM images of a single DNA molecule, we were able to improve the image’s SNR and recover some buried signals from the background noises.Furthermore, the fine structures of single molecules can potentially be further resolved if other image processing techniques are applied collaboratively with some newly developed imaging methods like Vibrating Mode Scanning Polarization Force Microscopy (VSPFM), and such combination will also be advantageous for the manipulation of single-biomolecules by AFM.In addition, the proposed algorithms for the estimations of drift, distortion and SNR are applicable for quantitative status characterization of AFM imaging.WANG ChunMei SUN JieLin LONG Fei ZHAO Jun HU Jun 2010Chinese Science Bulletin2010,55,16:3
8Nitrate increases cisplatin chemosensitivity of oral squamous cell carcinoma via REDD1/AKT signaling pathway显示文摘Although cisplatin is one of the chemotherapeutics most frequently used in oral squamous cell carcinoma(OSCC)treatment,it exerts multiple side effects and poor chemosensitivity.Nitrate reportedly demonstrates several beneficial biological functions,and synthesized nitrates enhance the therapeutic efficacy of chemotherapy.However,the role of inorganic nitrate in cisplatin chemotherapy remains unclear.We therefore investigated the effect of inorganic nitrate exerted on cisplatin sensitivity in OSCC.We found that nitrate did not affect OSCC cell growth and apoptosis in OSCC cells and OSCC xenograft tumor animal studies.Cisplatin induced REDD1 expression and AKT activation in OSCC.However,nitrate could increase cisplatin chemosensitivity,reduce its REDD1 expression,and attenuate AKT signaling activation in OSCC cells.Dysregulation of high levels of REDD1,which could enhance AKT activation,was positively associated with poor prognosis in OSCC patients.Thus,reduced REDD1 expression and retarded AKT activation induced by inorganic nitrate might be a new potential approach to the sensitization of oral cancer to cisplatin treatment in the future.Yuanyong Feng Xuedi Cao Bin Zhao Chunyan Song Baoxing Pang Liang Hu Chunmei Zhang Jinsong Wang Junqi He Songlin Wang 2021Science China(Life Sciences)2021,64,11:2
9Interactive response of photosynthetic characteristics in Haloxylon ammodendron and Hedysarum scoparium exposed to soil water and air vapor pressure deficits显示文摘C4 plants possess better drought tolerance than C3 plants. However, Hedysarum scoparium, a C3 species, is dominant and widely distributed in the desert areas of northwestern China due to its strong drought tolerance. This study compared it with Haloxylon ammodendron, a C4 species, regarding the interactive effects of drought stress and different leaf–air vapor pressure deficits. Variables of interest included gas exchange, the activity levels of key C4 photosynthetic enzymes, and cellular anatomy. In both species, gas exchange parameters were more sensitive to high vapor pressure deficit than to strong water stress, and the net CO2 assimilation rate(A n) was enhanced as vapor pressure deficits increased. A close relationship between A n and stomatal conductance(g s) suggested that the species shared a similar response mechanism. In H. ammodendron, the activity levels of key C4 enzymes were higher, including those of phosphoenolpyruvate carboxylase(PEPC) and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate-malate enzyme(NADP-ME), whereas in H. scoparium, the activity level of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide-malate enzyme(NAD-ME) was higher.Meanwhile, H. scoparium utilized adaptive structural features, including a larger relative vessel area and a shorter distance from vein to stomata, which facilitated the movement of water.
