| 1 | Measuring Conflict Functions in Generalized Power Space显示文摘One of the most important open issues is that the classical conflict coefficient in D-S evidence theory (DST) cannot correctly determine the conflict degree between two pieces of evidence. This drawback greatly limits the use of DST in real application systems. Early researches mainly focused on the improvement of Dempster’s rule of combination (DRC). However, the current research shows it is very important to define new conflict coefficients to determine the conflict degree between two or more pieces of evidence. The evidential sources of information are considered in this work and the definition of a conflict measure function (CMF) is proposed for selecting some useful CMFs in the next fusion work when sources are available at each instant. Firstly, the definition and theorems of CMF are put forward. Secondly, some typical CMFs are extended and then new CMFs are put forward. | 2 | A study of electron-shuttle mechanism in Klebsiella pneumoniae based-microbial fuel cells显示文摘In microbial fuel cell (MFC), the rate of electron transfer to anode electrode is a key intrinsic limiting factor on the power output of MFCs. Using Klebsiella pneumoniae (K. pneumoniae) strain L17 as biocatalyst, we studied the mechanism of electron shuttle via self-producing mediator in a cubic air-chamber MFC. To eliminate the influence of biofilm mechanism, the anode electrode was coated with microfiltration membrane (0.22 μm). Data showed that the microfiltration membrane coated and uncoated MFCs achieved the maximum voltage outputs of 316.2 and 426.2 mV after 270 and 120 h, respectively. When the medium was replaced in MFCs that had the highest power generation, the power output dropped by 62.1% and 8.8%, and required 120 and 48 h to resume the original level in the coated and uncoated MFCs, respectively. The results suggested an electron-shuttle mechanism rather than biofilm mechanism was responsible for electricity generation in the membrane coated MFC. | 5 | Spatial Analysis of Commuting Mode Choice in Guangzhou, China显示文摘Metropolitan cities in China are commonly confronted with unresolved traffic congestion issues, primarily due to rapidly increasing traffic demand. Group disparity between commuting mode choice and its spatial distribution on road networks has enabled us to examine the factors that give rise to the discrepancies and the fundamental spatial causes of traffic congestion. In recent years, micro-perspective, individual, and behavior-based spatial analysis have mushroomed and been facilitated with effective tools such as temporal geographic information systems (T-GIS). It is difficult to study the interrelations between transport and space on the basis of commuting mode choice since the mode choice data are invisible in a specific space such as a particular road network. Therefore, in the field of transport, the classical origin destination (OD) four-stage model (FSM) is usually employed to calculate data when studying commuting mode choice. Based on the relative principles of T-GIS and the platform of ArcGIS, this paper considers Guangzhou as a case study and develops a spatio-temporal tool to examine the daily activities of residents. Meanwhile, the traffic volume distribution in rush hours, which was analyzed according to commuting modes and how they were reflected in the road network, was scrutinized with data extracted from travel diaries. Moreover, efforts were made to explain the relationship between traffic demand and urban spatial structure. | 6 | A New Probabilistic Transformation in Generalized Power Space显示文摘The mapping from the belief to the probability domain is a controversial issue, whose original purpose is to make (hard) decision, but for contrariwise to erroneous widespread idea/claim, this is not the only interest for using such mappings nowadays. Actually the probabilistic transformations of belief mass assignments are very useful in modern multitarget multisensor tracking systems where one deals with soft decisions, especially when precise belief structures are not always available due to the existence of uncertainty in human being’s subjective judgments. Therefore, a new probabilistic transformation of interval-valued belief structure is put forward in the generalized power space, in order to build a subjective probability measure from any basic belief assignment defined on any model of the frame of discernment. Several examples are given to show how the new transformation works and we compare it to the main existing transformations proposed in the literature so far. | 8 | Testing the role of genetic variation of the MC4R gene in Chinese population in antipsychotic-induced metabolic disturbance显示文摘Antipsychotic-induced metabolic disturbance(AIMD) is a common adverse effect of antipsychotics with genetics partly underpinning variation in susceptibility among schizophrenia patients. Melanocortin4 receptor(MC4 R) gene, one of the candidate genes for AIMD, has been under-studied in the Chinese patients. We conducted a pharmacogenetic study in a large cohort of Chinese patients with schizophrenia. In this study, we investigated the genetic variation of MC4 R in Chinese population by genotyping two SNPs(rs489693 and rs17782313) in 1,991 Chinese patients and examined association of these variants with the metabolic effects that were often observed to be related to AIMD. Metabolic measures, including body mass index(BMI), waist circumference(WC), glucose, triglyceride, high-density lipoprotein(HDL), and low-density lipoprotein(LDL) levels were assessed at baseline and after 6-week antipsychotic treatment. We found that interaction of SNP×medication status(drug-na?ve/medicated) was significantly associated with BMI, WC, and HDL change %, respectively. Both SNPs were significantly associated with baseline BMI and WC in the medicated group. Moderate association of rs489693 with WC, Triglyceride, and HDL change % were observed in the whole sample. In the drug-na?ve group, we found recessive effects of rs489693 on BMI gain more than 7%, WC and Triglyceride change %, with AA incurring more metabolic adverse effects. In conclusion, the association between rs489693 and the metabolic measures is ubiquitous but moderate. Rs17782313 is less involved in AIMD. | 10 | New conflict representation model in generalized power space显示文摘The study on alternative combination rules in Dempster-Shafer theory (DST) when evidences are in conflict has emerged again recently as an interesting topic, especially in data/information fusion applications. The earlier researches have mainly focused on investigating the alternative which would be appropriate for the conflicting situation, under the assumption that a conflict is identified. However, the current research shows that not only the combination rule but also the classical conflict coefficient in DST are not correct to determine the conflict degree between two pieces of evidences. Most existing methods of measuring conflict do not consider the open world situation, whose frame of discernment is incomplete. To solve this problem, a new conflict representation model to determine the conflict degree between evidences is proposed in the generalized power space, which contains two parameters: the conflict distance and the conflict coefficient of inconsistent evidences. This paper argues that only when the conflict measure value in the new representation model is high, it is safe to say the evidences are in conflict. | 14 | Design and experimental verification of a monolithic complete-light modulator based on birefringent materials显示文摘This paper presents a method to design a monolithic complete-light modulator(MCLM) that fully controls the amplitude, phase, and polarization of incident light. The MCLM is made of birefringent materials that provide different refractive indices to orthogonal eigen-polarizations, the ordinary o and extraordinary e states. We propose an optimization method to calculate the two relief depth distributions for the two eigen-polarizations. Also, a merging algorithm is proposed to combine the two relief depth distributions into one. The corresponding simulations were carried out in this work and the desired light distribution, including information on amplitude,phase, and four polarization states, was obtained when a laser beam passed through a 16-depth-level microstructure whose feature size is 8 μm. The structure was fabricated by common photolithography. An experimental optical system was also set up to test the optical effects and performances of the MCLM. | 17 | Prolonged control of insulin-dependent diabetes via intramuscular expression of plasmid-encoded single-strand insulin analogue显示文摘Daily insulin injection is necessary for the treatment of the insulin-dependent diabetes. However, the process is painful and inconvenient. Accordingly, we have made exploratory efforts to establish an alternative method for continuous insulin supply via intramuscular injection of a designed plasmid encoding the single-strand insulin analogue (SIA), which provides safe, effective and prolonged control of insulin-dependent diabetes. To generate a SIA, a short flexible peptide was alternatively introduced into the natural proinsulin to replace its original long and rigid C-peptide. Then, the synthetic promoter SP301 was used to drive potent and specific expression of SIA in skeletal muscle cells. By combining the Pluronic L64 and low-voltage electropulse (L/E), the specialized gene delivery technique was applied to efficiently transfer the constructed plasmid into skeletal muscle cells via intramuscular injection. Through these efforts, a plasmid-based intramuscular gene expression system was established and improved, making it applicable for gene therapy. The plasmid-expressed SIA showed biological functions that were similar to that of natural insulin. A single L/E-pSP301-SIA administration provided sustained SIA expression in vivo for about 1.5 months. In addition, the diabetic mice treated with L/E-pSP301-SIA were much healthier than those with other treatments. This plasmid-based system was safe for the treatment of diabetes and did not cause immune responses or pathological damage. | 19 | Plasma Extracellular Vesicle MicroRNA Analysis of Alzheimer’s Disease Reveals Dysfunction of a Neural Correlation Network显示文摘Small extracellular vesicle(sEV)is an emerging source of potential biomarkers of Alzheimer's disease(AD),but the role of microRNAs(miRNAs)in sEV is not well understood.In this study,we conducted a comprehensive analysis of sEV-derived miRNAs in AD using small RNA sequencing and coexpression network analysis.We examined a total of 158 samples,including 48 from AD patients,48 from patients with mild cognitive impairment(MCI),and 62 from healthy controls.We identified an miRNA network module(M1)that was strongly linked to neural function and showed the strongest association with AD diagnosis and cognitive impairment.The expression of miRNAs in the module was decreased in both AD and MCI patients compared to controls.Conservation analysis revealed that M1 was highly preserved in the healthy control group but dysfunctional in the AD and MCI groups,suggesting that changes in the expression of miRNAs in this module may be an early response to cognitive decline prior to the appearance of AD pathology.We further validated the expression levels of the hub miRNAs in M1 in an independent population.The functional enrichment analysis showed that 4 hub miRNAs might interact with a GDF11-centered network and play a critical role in the neuropathology of AD.In summary,our study provides new insights into the role of sEV-derived miRNAs in AD and suggests that M1 miRNAs may serve as potential biomarkers for the early diagnosis and monitoring of AD. | Yuzhe Sun Zhen Hefu Benchao Li Wang Lifang Song Zhijie Li Zhou Yan Deng Liu Zhili Jiahong Ding Tao Li Wenwei Zhang Nie Chao Shuang Rong | 2023 | Research2023,,4: | 0 |
