Enhanced secondary pollution offset reduction of primary emissions during COVID-19 lockdown in China显示文摘To control the spread of the 2019 novel coronavirus(COVID-19),China imposed nationwide restrictions on the movement of its population(lockdown)after the Chinese New Year of 2020,leading to large reductions in economic activities and associated emissions.Despite such large decreases in primary pollution, there were nonetheless several periods of heavy haze pollution in eastern China, raising questions about the well-established relationship between human activities and air quality. Here, using comprehensive measurements and modeling,we show that the haze during the COVID lockdown was driven by enhancements of secondary pollution. In particular, large decreases in NOx emissions from transportation increased ozone and nighttime NO_(3)radical formation, and these increases in atmospheric oxidizing capacity in turn facilitated the formation of secondary particulate matter. Our results, afforded by the tragic natural experiment of the COVID-19 pandemic, indicate that haze mitigation depends upon a coordinated and balanced strategy for controlling multiple pollutants.Xin Huang Aijun Ding Jian Gao Bo Zheng Derong Zhou Ximeng Qi Rong Tang Jiaping Wang Chuanhua Ren Wei Nie Xuguang Chi Zheng Xu Liangduo Chen Yuanyuan Li Fei Che Nini Pang Haikun Wang Dan Tong Wei Qin Wei Cheng Weijing Liu Qingyan Fu Baoxian Liu Fahe Chai Steven JDavis Qiang Zhang Kebin He 2021National Science Review2021,8,2:47

Antibacterial Effect of Cinnamon Oil Combined with Thyme or Clove Oil显示文摘Antibacterial effect of cinnamon oil combined with thyme or clove oil was studied in this paper.Agar dilution method was used to determine the minimum inhibitory concentrations(MICs) of the essential oils(EOs) of cinnamon, thyme, and clove oil against three Gram-positive bacteria(Bacillus subtilis,Bacillus cereus, and Staphylococcus aureus),and two Gram-negative bacteria(Escherichia coli and Salmonella typhimurium). The results showed that cinnamon was a promising antibacterial substance with MIC ranged from 0.1 to 0.4 μL mL-1 for the five bacterial species.Agar dilution checkerboard method was used to test the combined antibacterial effect of cinnamon oil with thyme or clove oil.Combination of cinnamon and thyme oil showed an additive effect against all selected bacteria, and combination of cinnamon and clove oil displayed an additive effect against B.subtilis,B.cereus,S.aureus,and an indifferent effect against E.coli and S.typhimurium.Furthermore,gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-MS) measurement was used to analyze the components of the EOs,and the main components of cinnamon, thyme, and clove were cinnamaldehyde, thymol, carvacrol and p-cymene,and eugenol, respectively.LU Fei DING Yi-cheng YE Xing-qian DING Yu-ting 2011Agricultural Sciences in China2011,10,9:19
Expression changes and bioinformatic analysis of Wallerian degeneration after sciatic nerve injury in rat显示文摘Wallerian degeneration (WD) remains an important research topic. Many genes are differentially expressed during the process of WD, but the precise mechanisms responsible for these differentiations are not completely understood. In this study, we used microarrays to analyze the expression changes of the distal nerve stump at 0, 1, 4, 7, 14, 21 and 28 days after sciatic nerve injury in rats. The data revealed 6 076 differentially-expressed genes, with 23 types of expression, specifically enriched in genes associated with nerve development and axonogenesis, cytokine biosynthesis, cell differentiation, cytokine/chemokine production, neuron differentiation, cytokinesis, phosphorylation and axon regeneration. Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes pathway analysis gave findings related mainly to the MAPK signaling pathway, the Jak-STAT signaling pathway, the cell cycle, cytokine-cytokine receptor interaction, the p53 signaling pathway and the Wnt signaling pathway. Some key factors were NGF, MAG, CNTF, CTNNA2, p53, JAK2, PLCB1, STAT3, BDNF, PRKC, collagen II, FGF, THBS4, TNC and c-Src, which were further validated by real-time quantitative PCR, Western blot, and immunohistochemistry. Our findings contribute to a better understanding of the functional analysis of differentially-expressed genes in WD and may shed light on the molecular mechanisms of nerve degeneration and regeneration.Dengbing Yao Meiyuan Li Dingding Shen Fei Ding Shibi Lu Qing Zhao Xiaosong Gu 2013Neuroscience Bulletin2013,29,3:18
Timing, distribution, and microbiology of infectious complications after necrotizing pancreatitis显示文摘BACKGROUND Acute pancreatitis(AP)is a common acute abdominal disease worldwide, and its incidence rate has increased annually.Approximately 20%of AP patients develop into necrotizing pancreatitis(NP),and 40%to 70%of NP patients have infectious complications, which usually indicate a worse prognosis.Infection is an important sign of complications in NP patients.AIM To investigate the difference in infection time, infection site, and infectious strain in NP patients with infectious complications.METHODS The clinical data of AP patients visiting the Department of General Surgery of Xuanwu Hospital of Capital Medical University from January 1,2014 to December 31,2018 were collected retrospectively.Enhanced computerized tomography or magnetic resonance imaging findings in patients with NP were included in the study.Statistical analysis of infectious bacteria, infection site, and infection time in NP patients with infectious complications was performed, because knowledge about pathogens and their antibiotic susceptibility patterns is essential for selecting an appropriate antibiotic. In addition, the factors that might influence the prognosis of patients were analyzed.RESULTS In this study,539 strains of pathogenic bacteria were isolated from 162 patients with NP infection, including 212 strains from pancreatic infections and 327 strains from extrapancreatic infections.Gram-negative bacteria were the main infectious species, the most common of which were Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The extrapancreatic infection time(9.1±8.8 d)was earlier than the pancreatic infection time(13.9±12.3 d).Among NP patients with early extrapancreatic infection(<14 d),bacteremia(25.12%)and respiratory tract infection(21.26%)were predominant.Among NP patients with late extrapancreatic infection(>14 d),bacteremia(15.94%),respiratory tract infection(7.74%),and urinary tract infection(7.71%)were predominant.Drug sensitivity analysis showed that P.aeruginosa was sensitive to enzymatic penicillins, thirdand fourth-generation cephalosporins, and carbapenems.Acinetobacter baumannii and Klebsiella pneumoniae were sensitive only to tigecycline;Staphylococcus epidermidis and Enterococcus faecium were highly sensitive to linezolid, tigecycline, and vancomycin.CONCLUSION In this study,we identified the timing, the common species, and site of infection in patients with NP.Jiong-Di Lu Feng Cao Yi-Xuan Ding Yu-Duo Wu Yu-Lin Guo Fei Li 2019World Journal of Gastroenterology2019,25,34:17
Ubiquitination of Rheb governs growth factor-induced mTORC1 activation显示文摘Mechanistic target of rapamycin mTOR complex 1 (mTORC1)plays a key role in the integration of various environmental signals to regulate cell growth and metabolism,mTORC1 is recruited to the lysosome where it is activated by its interaction with GTP-bound Rheb GTPase. However, the regulatory mechanism of Rheb activity remains largely unknown. Here,we show that ubiquitination governs the nucleotide-bound status of Rheb.Lysosome-anchored E3 ligase RNF152 catalyzes Rheb ubiquitination and promotes its binding to the TSC complex.EGF enhances the deubiquitination of Rheb through AKT-dependent USP4 phosphorylation, leading to the release of Rheb from the TSC complex.Functionally, ubiquitination of Rheb is linked to mTORC1-mediated signaling and consequently regulates tumor growth. Thus,we propose a mechanistic model whereby Rheb-mediated mTORC1 activation is dictated by a dynamic opposing act between Rheb ubiquitination and deubiquitination that are catalyzed by RNF152 and USP4 respectively.Lu Deng Lei Chen Linlin Zhao Yan Xu Xiaoping Peng Xinbo Wang Lin Ding Jiali Jin Hongqi Teng Yanming Wang Weijuan Pan Fei Yu Lujian Liao Li Li Xin Ge Ping Wang 2019Cell Research2019,29,2:16
The chromosome-level quality genome provides insights into the evolution of the biosynthesis genes for aroma compounds of Osmanthus fragrans显示文摘Sweet osmanthus(Osmanthus fragrans)is a very popular ornamental tree species throughout Southeast Asia and USA particularly for its extremely fragrant aroma. We constructed a chromosome-level reference genome of O.fragrans to assist in studies of the evolution, genetic diversity, and molecular mechanism of aroma development.A total of over 118 Gb of polished reads was produced from HiSeq(45.1 Gb)and PacBio Sequel(73.35 Gb),giving 100×depth coverage for long reads. The combination of Illumina-short reads,PacBio-long reads, and Hi-C data produced the final chromosome quality genome of O.fragrans with a genome size of 727 Mb and a heterozygosity of 1.45%.The genome was annotated using de novo and homology comparison and further refined with transcriptome data. The genome of O.fragrans was predicted to have 45,542 genes,of which 95.68%were functionally annotated.Genome annotation found 49.35%as the repetitive sequences, with long terminal repeats(LTR)being the richest(28.94%).Genome evolution analysis indicated the evidence of whole-genome duplication 15 million years ago, which contributed to the current content of 45,242 genes.Metabolic analysis revealed that linalool,a monoterpene is the main aroma compound.Based on the genome and transcriptome,we further demonstrated the direct connection between terpene synthases(TPSs)and the rich aromatic molecules in O.fragrans.We identified three new flower-specific TPS genes,of which the expression coincided with the production of linalool. Our results suggest that the high number of TPS genes and the flower tissue-and stage-specific TPS genes expressions might drive the strong unique aroma production of O.fragrans.Xiulian Yang Yuanzheng Yue Haiyan Li Wenjie Ding Gongwei Chen Tingting Shi Junhao Chen Min S.Park Fei Chen Lianggui Wang 2018Horticulture Research2018,5,1:16
Experimental exploration and research prospect of physical bases and functional characteristics of meridians显示文摘The physical basis of meridians and acupoints (acupuncture points) is in a complex system mainly of connective tissue and interwoven with the blood capillaries, nerves, lymph vessels, etc. Elements of Ca, P, K, Fe, Zn, Mn, etc are found concentrated in the deep connective tissue structures in locations corresponding to acupoints. On this physical basis, the specific waveband of high efficiency for transmission of infrared rays exists in the collagenous fibre in a liquid crystal state. 10Adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells protect against CMS-induced depression-like behaviors in mice via regulating the Nrf2/HO-1 and TLR4/NF-κB signaling pathways显示文摘Increasing studies show that inflammatory processes may be involved in depressive disorders.Nuclear factor erythroid-2 related factor 2(Nrf2)modulates tissue microglial M1 phenotypic changes to the M2 phenotype, which is implicated in protection against inflammatory diseases. We have reported that the adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells(ADSCs)display anti-inflammatory activity. In this study we explored whether the mechanism of anti-inflammatory activity of ADSCs was related to Nrf2.ADSCs were isolated from mouse fat pads and intravenously administered to chronic mild stress(CMS)-exposed C57BL/6 mice at the dose of 1×106 once a week for 3 weeks. We showed that ADSC administration significantly remedied CMS-induced depressive-like behaviors in sucrose preference test, tail suspension test, and forced swim test accompanied by suppressing microglial activation and the expression of inflammatory factors including MCP-1,TNF-α,IL-1β,and IL-6.Furthermore,ADSC administration promoted both the expression of BDNF and TrkB,and promoted Nrf2/HO-1 signaling but suppressed TLR4/NF-κB signaling in brain tissue. In order to elucidate the role of Nrf2/HO-1 signaling in ADSC-caused neuroprotection,Nrf2-modified ADSCs were cocultured with BV2 microglial cells, then exposed to lipopolysaccharide(LPS).Downregulation of Nrf2 in ADSCs decreased the protective effects of ADSCs against LPS-induced microglial activation and M1 polarization.Nrf2 overexpression in ADSCs markedly suppressed LPS-induced TLR4 and NF-κB expression in microglial cells. These results suggest a possible antidepressive mechanism correlated with microglial polarization for anti-inflammatory agents, which may provide a new microglia-targeted strategy for depression therapy.Xiao Huang Guo-qiang Fei Wen-juan Liu Jing Ding Yuan Wang Hao Wang Jian-lin Ji Xin Wang 2020Acta Pharmacologica Sinica2020,41,5:15
Detecting soil salinity with arid fraction integrated index and salinity index in feature space using Landsat TM imagery显示文摘Modeling soil salinity in an arid salt-affected ecosystem is a difficult task when using remote sensing data because of the complicated soil context(vegetation cover, moisture, surface roughness, and organic matter)and the weak spectral features of salinized soil. Therefore,an index such as the salinity index(SI)that only uses soil spectra may not detect soil salinity effectively and quantitatively. The use of vegetation reflectance as an indirect indicator can avoid limitations associated with the direct use of soil reflectance. The normalized difference vegetation index(NDVI),as the most common vegetation index, was found to be responsive to salinity but may not be available for retrieving sparse vegetation due to its sensitivity to background soil in arid areas. Therefore, the arid fraction integrated index(AFII)was created as supported by the spectral mixture analysis(SMA),which is more appropriate for analyzing variations in vegetation cover(particularly halophytes)than NDVI in the study area.Using soil and vegetation separately for detecting salinity perhaps is not feasible. Then,we developed a new and operational model, the soil salinity detecting model(SDM)that combines AFII and SI to quantitatively estimate the salt content in the surface soil.SDMs,including SDM1 and SDM2,were constructed through analyzing the spatial characteristics of soils with different salinization degree by integrating AFII and SI using a scatterplot. The SDMs were then compared to the combined spectral response index(COSRI)from field measurements with respect to the soil salt content. The results indicate that the SDM values are highly correlated with soil salinity,in contrast to the performance of COSRI.Strong exponential relationships were observed between soil salinity and SDMs(R2>0.86,RMSE<6.86)compared to COSRI(R2=0.71,RMSE=16.21).These results suggest that the feature space related to biophysical properties combined with AFII and SI can effectively provide information on soil salinity.Fei WANG Xi CHEN GePing LUO JianLi DING XianFeng CHEN 2013Journal of Arid Land2013,5,3:14
Top-dressing nitrogen fertilizer rate contributes to decrease culm physical strength by reducing structural carbohydrate content in japonica rice显示文摘Lodging is an important factor limiting rice yield and quality by bending or breaking stem in japonica rice(Oryza sativa L.) production. The objectives of this study were to determine the mechanism of lodging resistance in japonica rice as affected by carbohydrate components, especially its related arrangement in culm tissue and response to top-dressing nitrogen(N) fertilizer. Field experiments were conducted in Danyang County, Jiangsu Province, China, by using two japonica rice varieties Wuyunjing 23(lodging-resistance variety) and W3668(lodging-susceptible variety) with three top-dressing N fertilizer rates(0, 135 and 270 kg N ha^(–1)) in 2013 and 2014. Lodging related physical parameters, morphological characteristics and stem carbohydrate components were investigated at 30 d after full heading stage. Results showed that with increasing N fertilizer rates, the lodging rate and lodging index increased rapidly primarily due to significant reduction of breaking strength in two japonica rice varieties. Correlation analysis revealed that breaking strength was significantly and positively correlated with bending stress, but negatively correlated with section modulus, except for significant correlation at W3668 in 2014. Higher stem plumpness status and structural carbohydrate contents significantly enhanced stem stiffness, despite of lower non-structural carbohydrate. With higher N fertilizer rate, the culm wall thickness was almost identical, and culm diameter increased slightly. The structural carbohydrates, especially for lignin content in culm, reduced significantly under high N rate. Further histochemical staining analysis revealed that high N treatments decreased the lignin deposition rapidly in the sclerenchyma cells of mechanical tissue, large vascular bundle and small vascular bundle region, which were consistent with reduction of bending stress, especially for W3668 and thus, resulted in poor stem strength and higher lodging index. These results suggested that structural carbohydrate plays a vital role for improving stem strength in japonica rice. N rate decreased lodging resistance primarily due to poor stem stiffness, by reducing structural carbohydrate content and lignin deposition in the secondary cell wall of lower internode culm tissue.ZHANG Wu-jun WU Long-mei DING Yan-feng WENG Fei WU Xiao-ran LI Gang-hua LIU Zheng-hui TANG She DING Cheng-qiang WANG Shao-hua 2016Journal of Integrative Agriculture2016,15,5:14
Liver transplant recipients with portal vein thrombosis:a single center retrospective study显示文摘BACKGROUND:Portal vein thrombosis(PVT)used to be a contraindication for liver transplantation(LT).This obstacle has been delt with following the improvement of LT-related techniques and therapeutic approaches to thrombosis. But the effect of PVT on LT outcomes is still controversial. We reviewed retrospectively the outcome of LT patients with PVT as well as risk factors and surgical management according to PVT grades. METHODS:A total of 465 adult LTs were performed from December 2002 through December 2006.Operative findings and the result of preoperative ultrasonography and imaging were reviewed for PVT grading(Yerdel grading).Comparison of risk factors, variables associated with perioperative period and prognosis between recipients with and without PVT is based on the grades. RESULTS:In the 465 LTs,42 were operatively confirmed to have PVT(9.0%)(19 recipients with grade 1,14 with grade 2,7 with grade 3,and 2 with grade 4).Increased age and treatment of portal hypertension were associated with PVT.Grade 1 or 2 PVT was treated by direct anastomosis or single thrombectomy. In grade 3 PVT patients, the donor PV was directly anastomosed to the dilated branch of the recipient portal venous system or to the distal open superior mesenteric vein through an interposition vein graft if needed.Grade 4 PVT was managed by our modified cavoportal hemitransposition technique. The comparison between PVT patients and controls showed no significant difference in operative duration and blood transfusion(P>0.05).The flow rate of the PV was lower in the PVT patients(48.881±12.788 cm/s)than in the controls(57.172±21.715 cm/s,P<0.05).The PVT patients had such postoperative complications as renal failure and PV rethrombosis(P<0.05).The 1-year survival rates in PVT and non-PVT patients were 78.6%and 76.4%respectively (P>0.05);the 3-year survival rates were 58.8%and 56.4% respectively(P>0.05). CONCLUSIONS:PVT is not contraindicated for LT if it is graded.PVT recipients may have post-transplantation complications like renal failure and PV rethrombosis, and operative difficulty and patient survival are similar to those in recipients without PVT.Development of therapeutic approaches and accumulation of experience in dealing with PVT further improve the outcomes of LT in PVT recipients.Tao, Yi-Feng Teng, Fei Wang, Zheng-Xin Guo, Wen-Yuan Shi, Xiao-Min Wang, Gui-Hua Ding, Guo-Shan Fu, Zhi-Ren 2009Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Diseases International2009,8,1:14
Performance analysis of stochastic gradient algorithms under weak conditions显示文摘By using the stochastic martingale theory, convergence properties of stochastic gra-dient(SG) identification algorithms are studied under weak conditions. The analysis indicates that the parameter estimates by the SG algorithms consistently converge to the true parameters,as long as the information vector is persistently exciting(i.e.,the data product moment matrix has a bounded condition number) and that the process noises are zero mean and uncorrelated. These results remove the strict assumptions, made in existing references, that the noise variances and high-order moments exist, and the processes are stationary and ergodic and the strong persistent excitation condition holds. This contribution greatly relaxes the convergence conditions of stochastic gradient algorithms. The simulation results with bounded and unbounded noise variances confirm the convergence conclusions proposed.DING Feng YANG HuiZhong LIU Fei 2008Science in China(Series F)2008,51,9:14
An energy minimization algorithm based on distributed dynamic clustering for long term evolution(LTE) heterogeneous networks显示文摘Energy saving has become an important issue in wireless communications from both environment and economic considerations. In this paper, an energy minimization algorithm based on distributed dynamic clustering(DDCEM) with lower complexity, higher performance, and better adaptability for heterogeneous network(Het Net) is proposed. A Het Net could be divided into several clusters, which is defined as one group of a network node and users served by the node. A energy efficient user association, which dynamically changes according to real-time energy efficiency(EE) evaluation with traffic load and location distribution of each cluster, can be employed to save consumed energy. Then, the optimal sleeping relay is found as follows. First, the sleeping probability cost of each relay station(RS) is computed and ranked based on the user traffic and the position distribution of each cluster, and the relay with minimum sleeping probability is selected to be switched off. Hence, the sleep node is selected taking into account the traffic load and location of the Evolved Node B(e NB) and all the RSs. The complexity of the algorithm is greatly reduced because the user association operation and network load evaluation are fulfilled cluster by cluster. Simulation results show that the proposed DDCEM strategy offers EE gain with low system complexity.TONG En DING Fei PAN ZhiWen YOU Xiao Hu 2015Science China(Information Sciences)2015,58,4:13
Current achievements and future prospects in the genetic breeding of chrysanthemum:a review显示文摘Chrysanthemum(Chrysanthemum morifolium Ramat.)is a leading flower with applied value worldwide.Developing new chrysanthemum cultivars with novel characteristics such as new flower colors and shapes, plant architectures, flowering times, postharvest quality, and biotic and abiotic stress tolerance in a time-and cost-efficient manner is the ultimate goal for breeders.Various breeding strategies have been employed to improve the aforementioned traits, ranging from conventional techniques, including crossbreeding and mutation breeding,to a series of molecular breeding methods, including transgenic technology, genome editing, and marker-assisted selection(MAS).In addition, the recent extensive advances in high-throughput technologies, especially genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, and microbiomics, which are collectively referred to as omics platforms, have led to the collection of substantial amounts of data.Integration of these omics data with phenotypic information will enable the identification of genes/pathways responsible for important traits.Several attempts have been made to use emerging molecular and omics methods with the aim of accelerating the breeding of chrysanthemum. However, applying the findings of such studies to practical chrysanthemum breeding remains a considerable challenge, primarily due to the high heterozygosity and polyploidy of the species. This review summarizes the recent achievements in conventional and modern molecular breeding methods and emerging omics technologies and discusses their future applications for improving the agronomic and horticultural characteristics of chrysanthemum.Jiangshuo Su Jiafu Jiang Fei Zhang Ye Liu Lian Ding Sumei Chen Fadi Chen 2019Horticulture Research2019,6,1:13
The aldose reductase inhibitor epalrestat exerts nephritic protection on diabetic nephropathy in db/db mice through metabolic modulation显示文摘Epalrestat is an inhibitor of aldose reductase in the polyol pathway and is used for the management of diabetic neuropathy clinically. Our pilot experiments and accumulated evidences showed that epalrestat inhibited polyol pathway and reduced sorbitol production, and suggested the potential renal protection effects of epalrestat on diabetic nephropathy (DN).To evaluate the protective effect of epalrestat, the db/db mice were used and exposed to epalrestat for 8 weeks, both the physiopathological condition and function of kidney were examined. For the first time,we showed that epalrestatmarkedlyreduced albuminuria and alleviated the podocyte foot process fusion and interstitial fibrosis of db/db mice.Metabolomics was employed, and metabolites in the plasma, renal cortex, and urine were profiled using a gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC/MS)-based metabolomic platform. We observed an elevation of sorbitol and fructose, and a decrease of myo-inositol in the renal cortex of db/db mice. Epalrestat reversed the renal accumulation of the polyol pathway metabolites of sorbitol and fructose, and increased myo-inositol level. Moreover, the upregulation of aldose reductase, fibronectin, collagen Ⅲ,and TGF-β1 in renal cortex of db/db mice was downregulated by epalrestat. The data suggested that epalrestat has protective effects on DN,and the inhibition ofaldose reductas and the modulation of polyol pathway in nephritic cells be a potentially therapeutic strategy for DN.Jun He Hao-xue Gao Na Yang Xiao-dong Zhu Run-bin Sun Yuan Xie Cai-hong Zeng Jing-wei Zhang Jian-kun Wang Fei Ding Ji-ye Aa Guang-ji Wang 2019Acta Pharmacologica Sinica2019,40,1:13
Vegetation fractional coverage change in a typical oasis region in Tarim River Watershed based on remote sensing显示文摘Vegetation fractional coverage(VFC) is an important index to describe and evaluate the ecological system. The vegetation index is widely used to monitor vegetation coverage in the field of remote sensing(RS).In this paper, the author conducted a case study of the delta oasis of Weigan and Kuqa rivers, which is a typical saline area in the Tarim River Watershed. The current study was based on the TM/ETM+ images of 1989,2001,and 2006,and supported by Geographic Information System(GIS) spatial analysis, vegetation index, and dimidiate pixel model. In addition,VBSI(vegetation, bare soil and shadow indices) suitable for TM/ETM+ images, constructed with FCD(forest canopy density) model principle and put forward by ITTO(International Tropical Timber Organization),was used, and it was applied to estimate the VFC.The estimation accuracy was later proven to be up to 83.52%.Further,the study analyzed and appraised the changes in vegetation patterns and revealed a pattern of spatial change in the vegetation coverage of the study area by producing the map of VFC levels in the delta oasis.Forest, grassland, and farmland were the three main land-use types with high and extremely-high coverage, and they played an important role in maintaining the vegetation. The forest area determined the changes of the coverage area, whereas the other two land types affected the directions of change. Therefore, planting trees, protecting grasslands, reclaiming farmlands, and controlling unused lands should be included in a long-term program because of their importance in keeping regional vegetation coverage. Finally, the dynamic variation of VFC in the study area was evaluated according to the quantity and spatial distribution rendered by plant cover digital images to deeply analyze the reason behind the variation.Fei ZHANG Tashpolat TIYIP JianLi DING Mamat SAWUT Verner Carl JOHNSON NigaraTASHPOLAT DongWei GUI 2013Journal of Arid Land2013,5,1:12
Non-coding RNAs as Emerging Regulators of Neural Injury Responses and Regeneration显示文摘Non-coding RNAs(ncRNAs) are a large cluster of RNAs that do not encode proteins, but have multiple functions in diverse cellular processes.Mounting evidence indicates the involvement of nc RNAs in the physiology and pathophysiology of the central and peripheral nervous systems. It has been shown that numerous ncRNAs,especially micro RNAs and long non-coding RNAs,are differentially expressed after insults such as acquired brain injury, spinal cord injury, and peripheral nerve injury. These ncRNAs affect neuronal survival, neurite regrowth, and glial phenotype primarily by targeting specific mRNAs,resulting in translation repression or degradation of the mRNAs.An increasing number of studies have investigated the regulatory roles of micro RNAs and long non-coding RNAs in neural injury and regeneration, and thus a new research field is emerging. In this review,we highlight current progress in the field in an attempt to provide further insight into post-transcriptional changes occurring after neural injury, and to facilitate the potential use of ncRNAs for improving neural regeneration. We also suggest potential directions for future studies.Songlin Zhou Fei Ding Xiaosong Gu 2016Neuroscience Bulletin2016,32,3:12
Performance analysis for range expansion in heterogeneous networks显示文摘In this paper, the uplink and downlink performance of a two tier heterogeneous network(HetNet)with range expansion(RE)is analyzed.Different from previous works, base stations(BSs)are modeled as a spatial Poisson point process. This model can not only capture the irregularity of the BS deployment but also lead to closed form expressions. With the analytical results, the impacts of several key parameters on the coverage and throughput performance are investigated. Our results justifies the effectiveness of RE and Pico deployment.Based on our analyses, certain attention should be made on the RE design to balance the uplink and downlink performance. Our analyses are corroborated by simulations and can thus serve as a flexible and quick guidance for system design without complicated and time consuming system level platform construction and simulation.FEI ZeSong DING HaiChuan XING ChengWen NI JiQing KUANG JingMing 2014Science China(Information Sciences)2014,57,8:11
