| 1 | Biofeedback therapy for chronic pelvic pain syndrome显示文摘Aim: To evaluate the efficacy of biofeedback therapy in patients with chronic pelvic pain syndrome(CPPS). Methods: From November 2001 to April 2002, patients visiting the Urological Outpatient Clinic of this Hospital were evaluated by means of the National Institute of Health Chronic Prostatitis Symptom Index (NIH-CPSI)and classified by the NIH classification standard. Sixty-two patients of CPPS category Ⅲ were involved in this study. All patients had been treated by conventional approaches such as antibiotics and alpha-blockers for more than half a year without any improvement. The expressed prostatic secretion results were as follows: WBC 5 to 9/high power field, lipid +-+++ and bacterial culture negative. Their NIH-CPSI were 12-40. All the 62 cases complained of micturitional irritation (frequency, urgency, splitted stream and sense of residual urine), 32 cases, of pain or discomfort at the testicular, penile, scrotal, pelvic or rectal region and 13 cases, of white secretion-dripping. The patients were treated by the Urostym Biofeedback equipment (Laborie Co., Canada) 5 times a week for 2 weeks with a stimulus intensity of 15 mA-23 mA and duration of 20 minutes. Results: Sixty patients were significantly improved or cured, while no significant improvement in the remaining 2. No apparent side effect was observed. The NIH-CPSI dropped to 6 to 14 with an average reduction of 21 (P<0.01). In the 60 improved cases, pain was relieved after 2-3treatment courses and other symptoms disappeared after 4-5 courses. Conclusion: Biofeedback therapy is a safe and effective treatment for CPPS. Large randomized clinical trials are needed to confirm its efficacy and to explore the mechanism of action. | 9 | Evolution of urban black and odorous water:The characteristics of microbial community and driving-factors显示文摘Urban black blooms that are primarily caused by organic carbon are deleterious environmental problems.However,detailed studies on the microbial characteristics that form urban black blooms are lacking.In this study,we observed the composition,diversity,and function of bacterial community in the overlying water and sediments during the occurrence and remediation of urban black blooms using high-throughput 16S rRNA gene amplicon sequencing analysis.First,we found that pivotal consortia in the overlying water increased significantly during the formation of black blooms,including the genera Acidovorax,Brevundimonas,Pusillimonas,and Burkholderiales involved in the degradation of refractory organics,as well as the genera Desulfovibrio,Dechloromonas,and Rhizobium related to the production of black and odorous substances.An RDA analysis revealed that chemical oxygen demand,dissolved oxygen,and oxidation reduction potential were related to the changes in microbial community composition.Furthermore,aeration was found to accelerate the removal of ammonia nitrogen and enhance the function of microbial community by stimulating the growth of order Planktomycetes during the remediation of black blooms,but aeration substantially damaged the microbial diversity and richness.Therefore,the health of the aquatic ecosystem should be comprehensively considered when aeration is applied to restore polluted waterbodies.Notably,we observed a large number of pathogenic bacteria in urban black blooms,which emphasizes the importance of treating domestic sewage so that it is harmless.Together,these findings provide new insights and a basis to prevent and manage urban black blooms. | Dan Zhang Huilan Yang Shuhuan Lan Chen Wang Xudong Li Yunxiao Xing Hua Yue Qiulin Li Ling Wang Yifei Xie | 2022 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2022,34,2: | 4 |
| 10 | VqMAPKKK38 is essential for stilbene accumulation in grapevine显示文摘Vitis species,including grapevine,produce a class of secondary metabolites called stilbenes that are important for plant disease resistance and can have positive effects on human health.Mitogen-activated protein kinase(MAPK)signaling cascades not only play key roles in plant defense responses but also contribute to stilbene biosynthesis in grapevine.MAPKKKs function at the upper level of the MAPK network and initiate signaling through this pathway.In this study,a Raf-like MAPKKK gene,VqMAPKKK38,was identified and functionally characterized from the Chinese wild grapevine V.quinquangularis accession‘Danfeng-2’.We observed that VqMAPKKK38 transcript levels were elevated by powdery mildew infection,high salinity conditions and chilling stresses,as well as in response to treatments by the hormones salicylic acid(SA),methyl jasmonate(MeJA),ethylene(Eth)and abscisic acid(ABA).In addition,based on both transient overexpression and gene suppression of VqMAPKKK38 in grapevine leaves,we found that VqMAPKKK38 positively regulates stilbene synthase transcription and stilbene accumulation probably by mediating the activation of the transcription factor MYB14.In addition,both hydrogen peroxide(H2O2)and calcium influx activated VqMAPKKK38 expression and stilbene biosynthesis,which suggests that VqMAPKKK38 may be involved in the calcium signaling and ROS signaling pathways. | Yuntong Jiao Dan Wang Lan Wang Changyue Jiang Yuejin Wang | 2017 | Horticulture Research2017,4,1: | 4 |
| 11 | Tetrahydroxy Stilbene Glucoside Ameliorates Cognitive Impairments and Pathology in APP/PS1 Transgenic Mice显示文摘Cognitive impairment is the main clinical manifestation of Alzheimer's disease(AD),and amyloid-β(AB)deposition and senile plaques are the characteristic neuropathological hallmarks in AD brains.This study aimed to explore the effect and mechanism of tetrahydroxy stilbene glucoside(TSG)on cognitive function in APP/PS 1 mice during long-term administration.Here,we treated APP/PS1 model mice of AD with different doses of TSG(50 mg/kg and 100 mg/kg)for 5 to 17 months by gavage,and we further observed whether TSG could ameliorate the cognitive decline in APP/PS1 mice using behavioral tests,and investigated the possible mechanisms by immunohistochemistry and Western blotting.Our results showed that TSG treatment rescued the spatial and non-spatial learning and memory impairments of APP/PS1 mice at Morris water maze test and novel object recognition test.Furthermore,Aβ40/42 deposition in the cortex and hippocampus of APP/PS1 mice treated with TSG was significantly reduced compared to the wild type mice using the immunohistochemical technique.Finally,Western blotting showed that TSG primarily decreased the APP expression to avoid the Aβplaque deposition in the cortex and hippocampus of mice.These results reveal the beneficial effects of TSG in APP/PSI-AD mice,which may be associated with the reduction of Aβdeposits in the brain. | Dan GAO Chen CHEN Rui HUANG Cui-cui YANG Bei-bei MLAO Lin LI Lan ZHANG | 2021 | Current Medical Science2021,41,2: | 3 |

| 13 | Heterostructured CoFe@N-doped carbon porous polyhedron for efficient microwave absorption显示文摘The synthesis of wide bandwidth,thin thickness,and high performance microwave absorbing materials has become a hot topic of current research.Metal-organic frameworks with heterojunctions and porous structures are considered as suitable candidates to meet these characteristics.Herein,heterogeneous CoFe@N-doped porous carbon polyhedron composites were successfully synthesized via Fe^(2+)to replace Co in zeolite imidazole frame-67.The dielectric properties of composites were enhanced by the replacement of Fe^(2+),and the synergistic effect of dielectric loss and magnetic loss was realized.The petal-like lamellar structure increases the travel of electromagnetic(EM)waves,and the formation of porous structures improves impedance matching.Specifically,a reflection loss of−67.30 dB was obtained at a thickness of 2.88 mm,and an ultrabroad wide effective absorption bandwidth of 8.40 GHz was obtained,covering most of the X-band(8–12 GHz)and the whole Ku-band(12–18 GHz).The radar cross section(RCS)reduction value can reach 29.4 dB·m^(2),which means that the radar detector has a smaller probability of detecting targets.This work describes the unique advantages of metal ion replacement metal-organic frameworks derived materials in structural design,impedance matching,and performance adjustment,and provides a new reference for the field of electromagnetic wave absorption. | Dan Wu Yiqun Wang Shuanglin Deng Di Lan Zhongning Xiang Qinchuan He | 2023 | Nano Research2023,16,2: | 2 |
| 14 | MicroRNA bta-miR-365-3p inhibits proliferation but promotes differentiation of primary bovine myoblasts by targeting the activin A receptor type Ⅰ显示文摘Background: MicroRNAs act as post-transcriptional regulators that repress translation or degrade mRNA transcripts.Each microRNA has many mRNA targets and each mRNA may be targeted by several microRNAs. Skeletal muscles express a plethora of microRNA genes that regulate muscle development and function by controlling the expression of protein-coding target genes. To expand our understanding of the role of microRNA, specifically btamiR-365-3 p, in muscle biology, we investigated its functions in regulating primary bovine myoblast proliferation and differentiation.Results: Firstly, we found that bta-miR-365-3 p was predominantly expressed in skeletal muscle and heart tissue in Chinese Qinchuan beef cattle. Quantitative PCR and western blotting results showed that overexpression of btamiR-365-3 p significantly reduced the expression levels of cyclin D1(CCND1), cyclin dependent kinase 2(CDK2) and proliferating cell nuclear antigen(PCNA) but stimulated the expression levels of muscle differentiation markers, i.e.,MYOD1, MYOG at both mRNA and protein level. Moreover, downregulation of bta-miR-365-3 p increased the expression of CCND1, CDK2 and PCNA but decreased the expression of MYOD1 and MYOG at both mRNA and protein levels. Furthermore, flow cytometry, EdU proliferation assays and immunostaining results showed that increased levels of bta-miR-365-3 p suppressed cell proliferation but promoted myotube formation, whereas decreased levels of bta-miR-365-3 p resulted in the opposite consequences. Finally, we identified that activin A receptor type I(ACVR1) could be a direct target of bta-miR-365-3 p. | 15 | Genome-wide analysis reveals selection for Chinese Rongchang pigs显示文摘Livestock have undergone domestication and consequently strong selective pressure on genes or genomic regions that control desirable traits. To identify selection signatures in the genome of Chinese Rongchang pigs, we generated a total of about 170 Gb of DNA sequence data with about 6.4-fold coverage for each of six female individuals. By combining these data with the publically available genome data of 10 Asian wild boars,we identified 449 protein-coding genes with selection signatures in Rongchang pigs, which are mainly involved in growth and hormone binding, nervous system development, and drug metabolism. The accelerated evolution of these genes may contribute to the dramatic phenotypic differences between Rongchang pigs and Chinese wild boars. | 17 | Phosphate limitation increases coenzyme Q10 production in industrial Rhodobacter sphaeroides HY01显示文摘Coenzyme Q10(CoQ10)is an important component of the respiratory chain in humans and some bacteria.As a high-value-added nutraceutical antioxidant,CoQ10 has excellent capacity to prevent cardiovascular disease.The content of CoQ10 in the industrial Rhodobacter sphaeroides HY01 is hundreds of folds higher than normal physiological levels.In this study,we found that overexpression or optimization of the synthetic pathway failed CoQ10 overproduction in the HY01 strain.Moreover,under phosphate-limited conditions(decreased phosphate or in the absence of inorganic phosphate addition),CoQ10 production increased significantly by 12%to220 mg/L,biomass decreased by 12%,and the CoQ10 productivity of unit cells increased by 27%.In subsequent fed-batch fermentation,CoQ10 production reached 272 mg/L in the shake-flask fermentation and 1.95 g/L in a 100-L bioreactor under phosphate limitation.Furthermore,to understand the mechanism associated with CoQ10 overproduction under phosphate-limited conditions,the comparatve transcriptome analysis was performed.These results indicated that phosphate limitation combined with glucose fed-batch fermentation represented an effective strategy for CoQ10 production in the HY01.Phosphate limitation induced a pleiotropic effect on cell metabolism,and that improved CoQ10 biosynthesis efficiency was possibly related to the disturbance of energy metabolism and redox potential. | Lu Zhang Leshi Liu Ke-Feng Wang Lan Xu Liming Zhou Weishan Wang Chuan Li Zheng Xu Tong Shi Haihong Chen Yuanhang Li Hui Xu XiuLiang Yang Zhichun Zhu Biqin Chen Dan Li Guanghuang Zhan Si-Liang Zhang Li-Xin Zhang Gao-Yi Tan | 2019 | Synthetic and Systems Biotechnology2019,4,4: | 2 |
| 18 | A novel synthetic small molecule YF-452 inhibits tumor growth through antiangiogenesis by suppressing VEGF receptor 2 signaling显示文摘Tumor angiogenesis is characterized by abnormal vessel morphology, endowing tumor with highly hypoxia and unresponsive toward treatment. To date, mounting angiogenic factors have been discovered as therapeutic targets in antiangiogenic drug development. Among them, vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2 (VEGFR2) inhibitors exerts potent antiangiogenic activity in tumor therapy. Therefore, it may provide a valid strategy for cancer treatment through targeting the tumor angiogenesis via VEGFR2 pathway. In this study, we established a high-profile compounds library and certificated a novel compound named N-(N-pyrrolidylacetyl)-9-(4-bromobenzyl)-1,3,4,9-tetrahydro-β-carboline (YF-452), which remarkably inhibited the migration, invasion and tube-like structure formation of human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) with little toxicity invitro. Rat thoracic aorta ring assay indicated that YF-452 significantly blocked the formation of microvascular exvivo. In addition, YF-452 inhibited angiogenesis in chick chorioallantoic membrane (CAM) and mouse corneal micropocket assays. Moreover, YF-452 remarkably suppressed tumor growth in xenografts mice model. Furthermore, investigation of molecular mechanism revealed that YF-452 inhibited VEGF-induced phosphorylation of VEGFR2 kinase and the downstream protein kinases including extracellular signal regulated kinase (ERK), focal adhesion kinase (FAK) and Src.
