The mission aims at determining the equation of state of matter at supra-nuclear density, measuring effects of QED, and understanding the dynamics of matter in strong-field gravity. In addition to investigating fundamental physics, eXTP will be a very powerful observatory for astrophysics that will provide observations of unprecedented quality on a variety of galactic and extragalactic objects. In particular, its wide field monitoring capabilities will be highly instrumental to detect the electro-magnetic counterparts of gravitational wave sources. The paper provides a detailed description of:(1) the technological and technical aspects, and the expected performance of the instruments of the scientific payload;(2) the elements and functions of the mission, from the spacecraft to the ground segment. | ShuangNan Zhang Andrea Santangelo Marco Feroci YuPeng Xu FangJun Lu Yong Chen Hua Feng Shu Zhang Sφren Brandt Margarita Hernanz Luca Baldini Enrico Bozzo Riccardo Campana Alessandra De Rosa YongWei Dong Yuri Evangelista Vladimir Karas Norbert Meidinger Aline Meuris Kirpal Nandra Teng Pan Giovanni Pareschi Piotr Orleanski QiuShi Huang Stephane Schanne Giorgia Sironi Daniele Spiga Jiri Svoboda Gianpiero Tagliaferri Christoph Tenzer Andrea Vacchi Silvia Zane Dave Walton ZhanShan Wang Berend Winter Xin Wu Jean J.M.in't Zand Mahdi Ahangarianabhari Giovanni Ambrosi Filippo Ambrosino Marco Barbera Stefano Basso Jörg Bayer Ronaldo Bellazzini Pierluigi Bellutti Bruna Bertucci Giuseppe Bertuccio Giacomo Borghi XueLei Cao Franck Cadoux Francesco Ceraudo TianXiang Chen Yu Peng Chen Jerome Chevenez Marta Civitani Wei Cui WeiWei Cui Thomas Dauser Ettore Del Monte Sergio Di Cosimo Sebastian Diebold Victor Doroshenko Michal Dovciak YuanYuan Du Lorenzo Ducci QingMei Fan Yannick Favre Fabio Fuschino JoséLuis Ga'lvez Min Gao MingYu Ge Olivier Gevin Marco Grassi QuanYing Gu YuDong Gu DaWei Han Bin Hong Wei Hu Long Ji ShuMei Jia WeiChun Jiang Thomas Kennedy Ingo Kreykenbohm Irfan Kuvvetli Claudio Labanti Luca Latronico Gang Li MaoShun Li Xian Li Wei Li ZhengWei Li Olivier Limousin HongWei Liu XiaoJing Liu Bo Lu Tao Luo Daniele Macera Piero Malcovati Adrian Martindale Malgorzata Michalska Bin Meng Massimo Minuti Alfredo Morbidini Fabio Muleri Stephane Paltani Emanuele Perinati Antonino Picciotto Claudio Piemonte JinLu Qu Alexandre Rachevski Irina Rashevskaya Jerome Rodriguez Thomas Schanz ZhengXiang Shen LiZhi Sheng JiangBo Song LiMing Song Carmelo Sgro Liang Sun Ying Tan Phil Uttley Bo Wang DianLong Wang GuoFeng Wang Juan Wang LangPing Wang YuSa Wang Anna L.Watts XiangYang Wen Jörn Wilms ShaoLin Xiong JiaWei Yang Sheng Yang YanJi Yang Nian Yu WenDa Zhang Gianluigi Zampa Nicola Zampa Andrzej A.Zdziarski AiMei Zhang ChengMo Zhang Fan Zhang Long Zhang Tong Zhang Yi Zhang XiaoLi Zhang ZiLiang Zhang BaoSheng Zhao ShiJie Zheng Yu Peng Zhou Nicola Zorzi J.Frans Zwart | 2019 | Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2019,62,2: | 11 |
Pancreatic and pulmonary mast cells activation during experimental acute pancreatitis显示文摘AIM:To study the activation of pancreatic and pulmonary mast cells and the effect of mast cell inhibition on the activation of peritoneal and alveolar macrophages during acute pancreatitis.METHODS:Pancreatitis was induced by intraductal infusion of 5% sodium taurodeoxycholate in rats. The mast cell inhibitor cromolyn was administered intraperitoneally(i.p.) 30 min before pancreatitis induction. The pancreatic and pulmonary tissue damage was evaluated histologically and mast cells and their state of activation were evaluated.Peritoneal and alveolar macrophages were obtained and the expression of tumor necrosis factor α was determined.Myeloperoxidase activity was measured to evaluate the effect of mast cell inhibition on the progression of the inflammatory process. Finally, the effect of plasma on cultured mast cells or macrophages was evaluated in vitro.RESULTS:The mast cell stabilizer signif icantly reduced inflammation in the pancreas and lung and the activation of alveolar macrophages but had no effect on peritoneal macrophages.Mast cell degranulation was observed in the pancreas during pancreatitis but no changes were observed in the lung.Plasma from rats with pancreatitis could activate alveolar macrophages but did not induce degranulation of mast cells in vitro.CONCLUSION:Pancreatic mast cells play an important role in triggering the local and systemic inflammatory response in the early stages of acute pancreatitis. In contrast, lung mast cells are not directly involved in the inflammatory response related to pancreatic damage. | Inmaculada Lopez-Font Sabrina Gea-Sorlí Enrique de-Madaria Luis M Gutiérrez Miguel Pérez-Mateo Daniel Closa | 2010 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2010,16,27: | 10
The Genome of Cucurbita argyrosperma (Silver- Seed Gourd) Reveals Faster Rates of Protein- Coding Gene and Long Noncoding RNA Turnover and Neofunctionalization within Cucurbita显示文摘Whole-genome duplications are an important source of evolutionary novelties that change the mode and tempo at which genetic elements evolve within a genome. The Cucurbita genus experienced a wholegenome duplication around 30 million years ago, although the evolutionary dynamics of the coding and noncoding genes in this genus have not yet been scrutinized. Here, we analyzed the genomes of four Cucurbita species, in eluding a newly assembled genome of Cucurbita argyrosperma, and compared the gene con tents of these species with those of five other members of the Cucurbitaceae family to assess the evolutionary dynamics of protein-coding and long intergenic noncoding RNA (lincRNA) genes after the genome duplication. We report that Cucurbita genomes have a higher protein-coding gene birth-death rate compared with the genomes of the other members of the Cucurbitaceae family. C. argyrosperma gene families associated with pollination and transmembrane transport had significantly faster evolutionary rates. lincRNA families showed high levels of gene turnover throughout the phylogeny, and 67.7% of the lincRNA families in Cucurbita showed evidence of birth from the neofunctionalization of previously existing protein-coding genes. Collectively, our results suggest that the whole-genome duplication in Cucurbita resulted in faster rates of gene family evolution through the neofunctionalization of duplicated genes. | Josue Barrera-Red on do Enrique Ibarra-Laclette Alejandra Vazquez-Lobo Yocelyn T. | 7 | Nrf2 and Snail-1 in the prevention of experimental liver fibrosis by caffeine显示文摘AIM:To determine the molecular mechanisms involved in experimental hepatic fibrosis prevention by caffeine(CFA).METHODS:Liver fibrosis was induced in Wistar rats by intraperitoneal thioacetamide or bile duct ligation and they were concomitantly treated with CFA(15 mg/kg per day).Fibrosis and inflammatory cell infiltrate were evaluated and classified by Knodell index.Inflammatory infiltrate was quantified by immunohistochemistry(anti-CD11b).Gene expression was analyzed by quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction for collagenⅠ?(Col-1),connective tissue growth factor(CTGF),transforming growth factorβ1(TGF-β1),tumor necrosis factor alpha(TNF-α),interleukin-1(IL-1),IL-6,superoxide dismutase(SOD)and catalase(CAT).Activation of Nrf2 and Snail-1 was analyzed by Westernblot.TNF-αexpression was proved by enzyme-linked immunosorbant assay,CAT activity was performed by zymography.RESULTS:CFA treatment diminished fibrosis index in treated animals. The Knodell index showed both lower fibrosis and necroinflammation.Expression of profibrogenic genes CTGF,Col-1 and TGF-β1 and proinflammatory genes TNF-α,IL-6 and IL-1 was substantially diminished with CFA treatment with less CD11b positive areas.Significantly lower values of transcriptional factor Snail-1 were detected in CFA treated rats compared with cirrhotic rats without treatment;in contrast Nrf2was increased in the presence of CFA.Expression of SOD and CAT was greater in animals treated with CFA showing a strong correlation between mRNA expression and enzyme activity.CONCLUSION:Our results suggest that CFA inhibits the transcriptional factor Snail-1,down-regulating profibrogenic genes, and activates Nrf2 inducing antioxidant enzymes system, preventing inflammation and fibrosis. | Daniela Gordillo-Bastidas Edén Oceguera-Contreras Adriana Salazar-Montes Jaime González-Cuevas Luis Daniel Hernández-Ortega Juan Armendáriz-Borunda | 2013 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2013,19,47: | 7
Enamel microabrasion: An overview of clinical and scientific considerations显示文摘Superficial stains and irregularities of the enamelare generally what prompt patients to seek dental intervention to improve their smile. These stains or defects may be due to hypoplasia, amelogenesis imperfecta, mineralized white spots, or fluorosis, for which enamel microabrasion is primarily indicated. Enamel microabrasion involves the use of acidic and abrasive agents, such as with 37% phosphoric acid and pumice or 6% hydrochloric acid and silica, applied to the altered enamel surface with mechanical pressure from a rubber cup coupled to a rotatory mandrel of a lowrotation micromotor. If necessary, this treatment can be safely combined with bleaching for better esthetic results. Recent studies show that microabrasion is a conservative treatment when the enamel wear is minimal and clinically imperceptible. The most important factor contributing to the success of enamel microabrasion is the depth of the defect, as deeper, opaque stains, such as those resulting from hypoplasia, cannot be resolved with microabrasion, and require a restorative approach. Surface enamel alterations that result from microabrasion, such as roughness and microhardness, are easily restored by saliva. Clinical studies support the efficacy and longevity of this safe and minimally invasive treatment. The present article presents the clinical and scientific aspects concerning the microabrasion technique, and discusses the indications for and effects of the treatment, including recent works describing microscopic and clinical evaluations. | Núbia Inocencya Pavesi Pini Daniel Sundfeld-Neto Flavio Henrique Baggio Aguiar Renato Herman Sundfeld Luis Roberto Marcondes Martins José Roberto Lovadino Débora Alves Nunes Leite Lima | 2015 | World Journal of Clinical Cases2015,3,1: | 6
pRB expression in esophageal mucosa of individuals at high risk for squamous cell carcinoma of the esophagus显示文摘AIM: To investigate the pRb expression in a large group of patients with history of chronic exposure to the main risk factors for development of squamous cell carcinoma of the esophagus. METHODS: One hundred and seventy asymptomatic individuals at high risk for esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (consumption of more than 80 g of ethanol and 10 cigarettes/d for at least 10 years) underwent upper gastrointestinal endoscopy with biopsies of the esophageal mucosa. As a control group, specimens of esophageal mucosa obtained from 20 healthy subjects were also studied. Immunohistochemical assessment of the tissues was performed using a monoclonal antibody anti-pRB protein. RESULTS: Absence of the pRB staining, indicating loss of RB function, was observed in 33 (19.4%) of the individuals at risk for esophageal cancer, but in none of the healthy controls (P < 0.02). Loss of pRb expression increased in a stepwise fashion according to the severity of the histological findings (P < 0.005): normal mucosa (11/97 or 11.3%), chronic esophagitis (17/60 or 28.3%), low-grade dysplasia (3/10 or 30%), high-grade dysplasia 1/2 or 50%) and squamous cell carcinoma (1/1 or 100%). CONCLUSION: Our findings suggest that abnormal expression of the pRB protein may be implicated in the process of esophageal carcinogenesis. Additional studies are warranted to define the role of the pRBprotein as a biomarker for development of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma in individuals at high risk for this malignancy. | Simone S Contu Paulo C Contu Daniel C Damin Renato B Fagundes Fabiano Bevilacqua Aline S Rosa Joo C Prolla Luis F Moreira | 2007 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2007,13,11: | 5

Motor competence and health-related fitness in children:A cross-cultural comparison between Portugal and the United States显示文摘Background: Motor competence and health-related fitness are important components for the development and maintenance of a healthy lifestyle in children. This study examined cross-cultural performances on motor competence and health-related fitness between Portuguese and U.S.children.Methods: Portuguese(n = 508; 10.14 § 2.13 years, mean § SD) and U.S.(n = 710; 9.48 § 1.62 years) children performed tests of cardiorespiratory fitness(Progressive Aerobic Cardiovascular Endurance Run), upper body strength(handgrip), locomotor skill performance(standing long jump), and object projection skill performance(throwing and kicking). Portuguese and U.S. children were divided into 2 age groups(6à9 and 10à13 years) for data analysis purposes. A twoàfactor oneàway analysis of covariance(ANOVA) was conducted with the Progressive Aerobic Cardiovascular Endurance Run, handgrip, standing long jump scores, kicking, and throwing speed(km/h) as dependent variables. Results: Results indicated that Portuguese children, irrespective of sex, presented better performances in locomotor and cardiorespiratory performance(standing long jump and Progressive Aerobic Cardiovascular Endurance Run) than U.S. children in both age bands. U.S. children outperformed Portuguese children during throwing and handgrip tests. Kicking tests presented gender differences: Portuguese boys and U.S. girls outperformed their internationally matched counterparts. Conclusion: Cultural differences in physical education curricula and sports participation may impact differences in motor competence and fitness development in these countries. | Carlos Luz Rita Cordovil Luis Paulo Rodrigues Zan Gao Jacqueline D.Goodway Ryan S.Sacko Danielle R.Nesbitt Rick C.Ferkel Larissa K.True David F.Stodden | 2019 | Journal of Sport and Health Science2019,8,2: | 5
Embryonic stem cell factors and pancreatic cancer显示文摘Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma(PDAC),the most common type of pancreatic tumor,is a highly aggressive human cancer with the lowest five-year survival rate of any human maligancy primarily due to its earlymetastasis and lack of response to chemotherapy and radiation.Recent research suggests that PDAC cells comprise a hierarchy of tumor cells that develop around a population of cancer stem cells(CSCs),a small and distinct population of cancer cells that mediates tumoregenesis, metastasis and resistance to standard treatments. Thus,CSCs could be a target for more effective treatment options.Interestingly, pancreatic CSCs are subject to regulation by some of key embryonic stem cell(ESC)transctiption factors abberently expressed in PDAC,such as SOX2,OCT4 and NANOG.ESC transcription factors are important DNA-binding proteins present in both embryonic and adult somatic cells. The critical role of these factors in reprogramming processes makes them essential not only for embryonic development but also tumorigenesis. Here we provide an overview of stem cell transcription factors, particularly SOX2,OCT4,and NANOG,on their expression and function in pancreatic cancer. In contrast to embryonic stem cells,in which OCT4 and SOX2 are tightly regulated and physically interact to regulate a wide spectrum of target genes,de novo SOX2 expression alone in pancreatic cancer cells is sufficient to promote self-renewal,dedifferentiation and imparting stemness characteristics via impacting specific cell cycle regulatory genes and epithelial-mesnechymal transtion driver genes. Thus, targeting ESC factors, particularly SOX2,could be a worthy strategy for pancreatic cancer therapy. | Marta Herreros-Villanueva Luis Bujanda Daniel D Billadeau Jin-San Zhang | 2014 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2014,20,9: | 5
Does an association exist between chronic pancreatitis and liver cirrhosis in alcoholic subjects?显示文摘AIM: To study the possible association between chronic pancreatitis (CP) and liver cirrhosis (LC) of alcoholic etiology, after excluding any other causes.METHODS: One hundred and forty consecutive alcoholic patients were subdivided into three groups: CP (n = 53),LC (n = 57),and asymptomatic alcoholic (n = 30).Clinical,biochemical and morphological characteristics,Child-Pugh index, indocyanine green test, and fecal pancreatic elastase-1 test were assessed.RESULTS: In patients with cirrhosis, major clinical manifestations of CP such as pancreatic pain and steatorrhea,as well as imaging alterations of CP such as calcifications, duct dilation and pseudocysts were absent; insulin-dependent diabetes was present in 5.3% of cases, and elastase-1 test was altered in only 7%,and severely altered in none.In patients with CP,clinical characteristics of cirrhosis such as ascites, encephalopathy and gastrointestinal hemorrhage were present in one case,Child-Pugh grade > A in 5.7%,and altered indocyanine green test in 1.9% cases. In asymptomatic alcoholism, there was only a non-coincident alteration of elastase-1 test and indocyanine test in 14.8% and 10%,respectively,but other characteristics of cirrhosis or CP were absent. An inverse correlation (r = -0.746) between elastase-1 test and indocyanine test was found in alcoholic patients.CONCLUSION: There is a scarce coincidence in clinical and morphological alterations among patients with CP or LC of alcoholic etiology, but an inverse correlation between pancreatic and liver function tests. These findings support that these alcoholic diseases evolve in a different manner and have different etiopathogenesis. | Luis Aparisi Luis Sabater Juan Del-Olmo Juan Sastre Miguel-Angel Serra Ricardo Campello Daniel Bautista Abdalla Wassel José-Manuel Rodrigo | 2008 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2008,14,40: | 4
Transmission-reflection optoacoustic ultrasound(TROPUS)computed tomography of small animals显示文摘Rapid progress in the development of multispectral optoacoustic tomography techniques has enabled unprecedented insights into biological dynamics and molecular processes in vivo and noninvasively at penetration and spatiotemporal scales not covered by modern optical microscopy methods.Ultrasound imaging provides highly complementary information on elastic and functional tissue properties and further aids in enhancing optoacoustic image quality. We devised the first hybrid transmission–reflection optoacoustic ultrasound(TROPUS)small animal imaging platform that combines optoacoustic tomography with both reflection-and transmission-mode ultrasound computed tomography. The system features full-view cross-sectional tomographic imaging geometry for concomitant noninvasive mapping of the absorbed optical energy, acoustic reflectivity, speed of sound, and acoustic attenuation in whole live mice with submillimeter resolution and unrivaled image quality.Graphics-processing unit(GPU)-based algorithms employing spatial compounding and bent-ray-tracing iterative reconstruction were further developed to attain real-time rendering of ultrasound tomography images in the full-ring acquisition geometry. In vivo mouse imaging experiments revealed fine details on the organ parenchyma, vascularization, tissue reflectivity, density, and stiffness. We further used the speed of sound maps retrieved by the transmission ultrasound tomography to improve optoacoustic reconstructions via two-compartment modeling. The newly developed synergistic multimodal combination offers unmatched capabilities for imaging multiple tissue properties and biomarkers with high resolution, penetration, and contrast. | Elena Mercep Joaquin LHerraiz Xose Luis Dean-Ben Daniel Razansky | 2019 | Light(Science & Applications)2019,8,1: | 4
Early-onset colorectal cancer:A separate subset of colorectal cancer显示文摘Colorectal cancer(CRC)has a great impact on the world population. With increasing frequency,CRC is described according to the presenting phenotype, based on its molecular characteristics.Classification of CRC tumors according to their genetic and/or epigenetic alterations is not only important for establishing the molecular bases of the disease, but also for predicting patient outcomes and developing more individualized treatments.Early-onset CRC is a heterogeneous disease, with a strong familial component, although the disease is sporadic in an important proportion of cases.Different molecular alterations appear to contribute to the apparent heterogeneity of the early-onset population and subgroups can be distinguished with distinct histopathologic and familial characteristics. Moreover, compared with late-onset CRC,there are characteristicsthat suggest that early-onset CRC may have a different molecular basis. The purpose of this review was to analyze the current state of knowledge about earlyonset CRC with respect to clinicopathologic, familial and molecular features.Together, these features make it increasingly clear that this subset of CRC may be a separate disease, although it has much in common with late-onset CRC. | Irene Osorio Silla Daniel Rueda Yolanda Rodríguez Juan Luis García Felipe de la Cruz Vigo José Perea | 2014 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2014,20,46: | 4
