1Roles of mechanosensitive channel Piezo 1/2 proteins in skeleton and other tissues显示文摘Mechanotransduction is a fundamental ability that allows living organisms to receive and respond to physical signals from both the external and internal environments.The mechanotransduction process requires a range of special proteins termed mechanotransducers to convert mechanical forces into biochemical signals in cells.The Piezo proteins are mechanically activated nonselective cation channels and the largest plasma membrane ion channels reported thus far.The regulation of two family members,Piezol and Piezo2#has been reported to have essential functions in mechanosensation and transduction in different organs and tissues.Recently,the predominant contributions of the Piezo family were reported to occur in the skeletal system,especially in bone development and mechano-stimulated bone homeostasis.Here we review current studies focused on the tissue-specific functions of Piezol and Piezo2 in various backgrounds with special highlights on their importance in regulating skeletal cell mechanotransduction.In this review,we emphasize the diverse functions of Piezol and Piezo2 and related signaling pathways in osteoblast lineage cells and chondrocytes.We also summarize our current understanding of Piezo channel structures and the key findings about PIEZO gene mutations in human diseases.Lei Qin Tailin He Sheng Chen Dazhi Yang Weihong Yi Huiling Cao Guozhi Xiao 2021Bone Research2021,9,4:14
2Effects of Predeformation on the Reverse Martensitic Transformation of TiNi Shape Memory Alloy显示文摘DSC was used to study the effects of predeformation on the reverse martensitic transformation of near-equiatomic TiNi alloy. Both the start temperature A. and the finish temperature Af of the reverse transformation increased with increasing degree of predeformation, but the algebraic difference between A. and Af decreased with increasing predeformation until it reached a minimum value, then remained unchanged with further deformation. Transformation heat also increased with increasing predeformation until it reached a maximum value, then decreased with further predeformation. 3Variability of phytoplankton absorption in the northern South China Sea:influence of the size structure and pigment composition of algal populations显示文摘Data from three cruises conducted in the Zhujiang River (ZR), coastal waters of Guangdong (CWGD) and the northern South China Sea (NSCS) during 2003 and 2004 were examined for assessing the relative importance of pigment composition and packaging effect in modifying the specific absorption coefficients of phytoplankton. The three survey regions differ widely in their phytoplankton community with large cells dominating the ZR and CWGD waters and small cells dominating the NSCS region. Variations in the size structure and the accessory pigments have much effect on the chlorophyll a-specific absorption coefficient of phytoplankton. The size index accounted for about 42% and 33% of the variation of the specific absorption coefficient at 440 and 675 nm, respectively. Using the multiple regression analysis approach, pigment concentrations for each sample were calculated. The accessory pigments other than chlorophyll a contribute to absorption mainly in the blue-to-green region of the spectrum and their absorptions account for about 44%, 43% and 53% on the average of the total phytoplankton absorption at 440 nm for the ZR, CWGD and NSCS regions. Among the accessory pigments, the photosynthetic carotenoids (noted PSC) play a dominant role in the ZR and CWGD waters, while in the NSCS the nonphotosynthetic carotenoids (noted PPC) as well as PSC have important contributions. Because the variations of both the size structure and accessory pigments in algal populations contributed to the variability of the specific absorption coefficient in the study regions, these factors may be considered explicitly in future bio-optical algorithms to derive chlorophyll a concentration more accurately.WANG Guifen CAO Wenxi XU Dazhi YANG Yuezhong 2007Acta Oceanologica Sinica2007,26,2:9
4Circular RNA circStag1 promotes bone regeneration by interacting with HuR显示文摘Postmenopausal osteoporosis is a common bone metabolic disorder characterized by deterioration of the bone microarchitecture,leading to an increased risk of fractures.Recently,circular RNAs(circ RNAs)have been demonstrated to play pivotal roles in regulating bone metabolism.However,the underlying functions of circ RNAs in bone metabolism in postmenopausal osteoporosis remain obscure.Here,we report that circ Stag1 is a critical osteoporosis-related circ RNA that shows significantly downregulated expression in osteoporotic bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells(BMSCs)and clinical bone tissue samples from patients with osteoporosis.Overexpression of circ Stag1 significantly promoted the osteogenic capability of BMSCs.Mechanistically,we found that circ Stag1 interacts with human antigen R(Hu R),an RNA-binding protein,and promotes the translocation of Hu R into the cytoplasm.A high cytoplasmic level of Hu R led to the activation of the Wnt signaling pathway by stabilizing and enhancing low-density lipoprotein receptor-related protein 5/6(Lrp5/6)andβ-catenin expression,thereby stimulating the osteogenic differentiation of BMSCs.Furthermore,overexpression of circ Stag1 in vivo by circ Stag1-loaded adeno-associated virus(circ Stag1-AAV)promoted new bone formation,thereby preventing bone loss in ovariectomized rats.Collectively,we show that circ Stag1 plays a pivotal role in promoting the regeneration of bone tissue via Hu R/Wnt signaling,which may provide new strategies to prevent bone metabolic disorders such as postmenopausal osteoporosis.Gaoyang Chen Canling Long Shang Wang Zhenmin Wang Xin Chen Wanze Tang Xiaoqin He Zhiteng Bao Baoyu Tan Jin Zhao Yongheng Xie Zhizhong Li Dazhi Yang Guozhi Xiao Songlin Peng 2022Bone Research2022,10,3:7
5A flutter-effect-based triboelectric nanogenerator for breeze energy collection from arbitrary directions and self-powered wind speed sensor显示文摘Triboelectric nanogenerators(TENGs)have been developed rapidly into an efficient wind energy collection equipment.Reducing the frictionwear and energy loss in breeze energy collection is a research direction worthy of attention.Herein,a flutter-effect-based triboelectricnanogen erator(FE-TENG)is designed to collect the breeze energy at low wind speed from arbitrary directions.Distinguishing from previouswind-driven TENGs,the wind-driven part of this device is separated from the TENG units,which not only avoids the wear of friction layerscaused by direct wind contact but also reduces the energy loss,therefore,relatively stable electric outputs are obtained with Voc-281 V,Isc-13.4μA,Qsc-143 nC,and output power-4 mW at the wind speed of 4.5 m/s,respectively.In addition,a real-time wind speed monitoringsystem based on LabVIEW software with high sen sitivity and fast response to wind is achieved relying on the excellent linear relation shipbetween wind speed and electrical output signal.Furthermore,it has been successfully applied as power sources for portable electronics,about 170 commercial light-emitting devices(LEDs)are lighted and a digital watch is successfully driven at the wind speed of 2.9 m/s.This worknot only provides a new structure and idea for the future collection of clean and sustainable breeze energy from arbitrary directions but also hasgreat potential in the field of self-powered systems.Jie Hu Xianjie Pu Hongmei Yang Qixuan Zeng Qian Tang Dazhi Zhang Chenguo Hu Yi Xi 2019Nano Research2019,12,12:6
6Parallel Dispatch:A New Paradigm of Electrical Power System Dispatch显示文摘Modern power systems are evolving into sociotechnical systems with massive complexity, whose real-time operation and dispatch go beyond human capability. Thus,the need for developing and applying new intelligent power system dispatch tools are of great practical significance. In this paper, we introduce the overall business model of power system dispatch, the top level design approach of an intelligent dispatch system, and the parallel intelligent technology with its dispatch applications. 7Electropolishing of NiTi for Improving Biocompatibility显示文摘A modified electrolyte (CH_3COOH-HClO_4-A-B) for electropolishing (EP) of NiTi was presented for improving the corrosion resistance and biocompatibility of the alloy.Using the proposed parameters,a homogeneous and uniform surface was obtained.Atomic force microscopy (AFM) revealed that the surface roughness (Ra) for EP sample (23.21 nm) was close to mechanical polishing (MP) sample (19.36 nm).Analysis by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) showed that Ti/Ni ratio increased from 3.1 for MP sample to 27.6 for EP sample.Measurements using potentiodynamic polarization in Hanks' solution showed that no pitting occurred for EP sample even though the applied potential increased up to 1500 mV (vs SCE),while the MP sample was broken down at 650 mV.The present study indicates that electropolishing NiTi with this modified electrolyte contributes to the improved biocompatibility of NiTi.Wei WU Xinjie LIU Huimin HAN Dazhi YANG Shoudong LU 2008Journal of Materials Science & Technology2008,24,6:4
8A novel sprayable thermosensitive hydrogel coupled with zinc modified metformin promotes the healing of skin wound显示文摘A novel sprayable adhesive is established(ZnMet-PF127)by the combination of a thermosensitive hydrogel(Pluronic F127,PF127)and a coordination complex of zinc and metformin(ZnMet).Here we demonstrate that ZnMet-PF127 potently promotes the healing of traumatic skin defect and burn skin injury by promoting cell proliferation,angiogenesis,collagen formation.Furthermore,we find that ZnMet could inhibit reactive oxygen species(ROS)production through activation of autophagy,thereby protecting cell from oxidative stress induced damage and promoting healing of skin wound.ZnMet complex exerts better effects on promoting skin wound healing than ZnCl2 or metformin alone.ZnMet complex also displays excellent antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus or Escherichia coli,which could reduce the incidence of skin wound infections.Collectively,we demonstrate that sprayable PF127 could be used as a new drug delivery system for treatment of skin injury.The advantages of this sprayable system are obvious:(1)It is convenient to use;(2)The hydrogel can cover irregular skin defect sites evenly in a liquid state.In combination with this system,we establish a novel sprayable adhesive(ZnMet-PF127)and demonstrate that it is a potential clinical treatment for traumatic skin defect and burn skin injury.Zhengwei Liu Wanze Tang Jiayi Liu Yingying Han Qinnan Yan Yuechao Dong Xiaomei Liu Dazhi Yang Guixing Ma Huiling Cao 2023Bioactive Materials2023,,2:3
