Presence of Antibodies to Heat Stress Proteins and its Possible Significance in Workers Exposed to High Temperature and Carbon Monoxide显示文摘Antibodies to the ubiquitous group of stress proteins known as heat shock proteins (Hsps) have been found to be associated with a number of diseases in humans. Hsps are known to be induced by certain xenobiotics, some of which are common in the working environment. The biological significance of the presence of such autoantibodies is presently unclear. In the present study, we used immunoblotting to investigate the presence of antibodies against the different stress proteins, Hsp27, Hsp60, Hsp71, Hse (heat shock cognate ) 73 and Hsp89a and D in groups of workers exposed to high temperature or carbon monoxide. These data were related to a detailed clinical evaluation and to various laboratory measurements including electrocardiogram (ECG), B echogram, white blood cell counts and typing, the activity of alanine aminotransferase (ALT), acid phosphatase (ACP) and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) and lymphocyte DNA damage. Antibodies to Hsp27 and Hsp71 were found more frequently in the high temperature and carbon monoxide-exposed groups than in controls (P (0.05 ). The carbon monoxide-exposed group showed the highest incidence of anti-Hsp antibodies. Anti-Hsp60 antibodies were only detected in workers exposed to high temperature or carbon monoxide. The percentage of workers with abnormal ECG, B echogram changes and displaying hepatitis B antigen (HBsAg ) was higher in the carbon monoxide group than in the control group (P<0.05 ).There was a significant inerease in the activity of ALT in the high temperature and carbon monoxide groups and in the activities of ACP and ALP in the carbon monoxide group (P<0.05 ). The extent of DNA damage measured in lymphoeytes was higher in workers from the high temperature and carbon monoxide-cxposed groups. We suggest that the increased frequeney of antibodies to Hsps is the result of these damages, of the release of denatured Hsps and of a decrease in the phagocytic ability of macrophages in these workers. The data gathered in the present study show a statistical relation between the occurrence of antibodies against Hsps and the frequency of health problems in workers and suggest a potential role for the antibodies as useful biomarkers to assess whether workers are experieneing environmental | WU TANG-CHUN TANGUAY, ROBERT M. | 2 | Network pharmacology-based analysis of Chinese herbal Naodesheng formula for application to Alzheimer's disease显示文摘Naodesheng(NDS) formula, which consists of Rhizoma Chuanxiong, Lobed Kudzuvine, Carthamus tinctorius, Radix Notoginseng, and Crataegus pinnatifida, is widely applied for the treatment of cardio/cerebrovascular ischemic diseases, ischemic stroke, and sequelae of cerebral hemorrhage, etc. At present, the studies on NDS formula for Alzheimer's disease(AD) only focus on single component of this prescription, and there is no report about the synergistic mechanism of the constituents in NDS formula for the potential treatment of dementia. Therefore, the present study aimed to predict the potential targets and uncover the mechanisms of NDS formula for the treatment of AD. Firstly, we collected the constituents in NDS formula and key targets toward AD. Then, drug-likeness, oral bioavailability, and blood-brain barrier permeability were evaluated to find drug-like and lead-like constituents for treatment of central nervous system diseases. By combining the advantages of machine learning, molecular docking, and pharmacophore mapping, we attempted to predict the targets of constituents and find potential multi-target compounds from NDS formula. Finally, we built constituent-target network, constituent-target-target network and target-biological pathway network to study the network pharmacology of the constituents in NDS formula. To the best of our knowledge, this represented the first to study the mechanism of NDS formula for potential efficacy for AD treatment by means of the virtual screening and network pharmacology methods. | PANG Xiao-Cong KANG De FANG Jian-Song ZHAO Ying XU Lv-Jie LIAN Wen-Wen LIU Ai-Lin DU Guan-Hua | 2018 | Chinese Journal of Natural Medicines2018,16,1: | 21

Origin of pit chains in the floor of lunar Copernican craters显示文摘There are small pit chains in the floor of lunar Copernican craters. They are usually so small in scale that there are few lunar spacecrafts to detect their detailed morphology. Combining camera data from Lunar Orbiter, Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO), Kaguya and Chang’e-1 missions, 5 representative large Copernican craters on various terrains of the lunar surface are chosen to study the origin of the pit chains in the crater floor. The morphology and distribution characteristic of the pit chains are referred by the high resolution images in this research. It is suggested that it is the magma activities from the subsurface magma layer combining with the existence of fractures and faults under the crater floor that leaded the formation of the pit chains. The model is further verified and discussed using the regolith thickness data in the crater floor. Our model suggests that the pit chains are still developing in the floor of the Copernican craters and the Moon may not be totally cold. Finally, the model limitation and potential future work are discussed based on available data. | XIAO ZhiYong 1* , ZENG ZuoXun 1,2 , XIAO Long 1,2 , FA WenZhe 3 & HUANG Qian 3,4 1 Faculty of Earth Sciences, China University of Geosciences, Wuhan 430074, China 2 Research Center for Space Science and Technology, China University of Geosciences, Wuhan 430074, China 3 Institut de Physique du Globe de Paris, 4 Avenue de Neptune, Saint Maur des Fosse’s, 94100, France 4 Shanghai Astronomical Observatory, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shanghai 200030, China | 2010 | Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2010,53,12: | 4

Neonatal vitamin A injection promotes cattle muscle growth and increases oxidative muscle fibers显示文摘Background: Vitamin A and its metabolite, retinoic acid(RA),are important regulators of cell differentiation and organ morphogenesis. Its impact on beef cattle muscle growth remains undefined.Method: Angus steer calves were administrated with 0(control) or 150,000 IU vitamin A(retinyl palmitate in glycerol,i.m.) per calf at birth and 1 month of age.At 2 months of age,a biopsy of the Biceps femoris muscle was obtained to analyze the immediate effects of vitamin A injection on myogenic capacity of muscle cells. The resulting steers were harvested at 14 months of age. Results: Vitamin A administration increased cattle growth at 2 months. At 2 months of age,Vitamin A increased PAX7 positive satellite cells and the expression of myogenic marker genes including PAX7,MYF5,MYOD and MYOG.Muscle derived mononuclear cells were further isolated and induced myogenesis in vitro.More myotubes and a higher degree of myogenesis was observed in vitamin A groups.Consistently, vitamin A increased Latissimus dorsi(LD) muscle fiber size at harvest. In addition, vitamin A increased the ratio of oxidative type I and type IIA fibers and reduced the glycolic type IIX fibers.Furthermore,we found that RA,a key bioactive metabolite of vitamin A,activated PPARGC1 A promoter, which explains the upregulated expression of PPARGC1 A in skeletal muscle. Conclusion: Vitamin A administration to neonatal calves enhanced postnatal muscle growth by promoting myogenesis and increasing satellite cell density, accompanied with a shift to oxidative muscle fibers. | Bo Wang Wei Nie Xing Fu Jeanene M de Avila Yannan Ma Mei-Jun Zhu Martin Maquivar Steven M Parish Jan R Busboom Mark L Nelson Min Du | 2019 | Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2019,10,1: | 3

Identification of multi-target anti-cancer agents from TCM formula by in silico prediction and in vitro validation显示文摘Cancer is a complex disease associated with multiple gene mutations and malignant phenotypes, and multi-target drugs provide a promising therapy idea for the treatment of cancer.Natural products with abundant chemical structure types and rich pharmacological characteristics could be ideal sources for screening multi-target antineoplastic drugs. In this paper,50 tumor-related targets were collected by searching the Therapeutic Target Database and Thomson Reuters Integrity database, and a multi-target anti-cancer prediction system based on mt-QSAR models was constructed by using naïve Bayesian and recursive partitioning algorithm for the first time.Through the multi-target anti-cancer prediction system, some dominant fragments that act on multiple tumor-related targets were analyzed, which could be helpful in designing multi-target anti-cancer drugs.Anti-cancer traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)and its natural products were collected to form a TCM formula-based natural products library, and the potential targets of the natural products in the library were predicted by multi-target anti-cancer prediction system. As a result, alkaloids, flavonoids and terpenoids were predicted to act on multiple tumor-related targets. The predicted targets of some representative compounds were verified according to literature review and most of the selected natural compounds were found to exert certain anti-cancer activity in vitro biological experiments. In conclusion, the multi-target anti-cancer prediction system is very effective and reliable, and it could be further used for elucidating the functional mechanism of anti-cancer TCM formula and screening for multi-target anti-cancer drugs. The anti-cancer natural compounds found in this paper will lay important information for further study. | ZHANG Bao-Yue ZHENG Yi-Fu ZHAO Jun KANG De WANG Zhe XU Lv-Jie LIU Ai-Lin DU Guan-Hua | 2022 | Chinese Journal of Natural Medicines2022,20,5: | 2

MARIS plays important roles in Arabidopsis pollen tube and root hair growth显示文摘In flowering plants, male gametes are delivered to female gametes for double fertilization through pollen tubes. Therefore, pollen tube growth is crucial for double fertilization. Despite its importance to sexual reproduction, genetic mechanisms of pollen tube growth remain poorly understood. In this study, we characterized the receptor-like cytoplasmic protein kinase(RLCK) gene, MARIS(MRI) that plays critical roles in pollen tube growth. MRI is preferentially expressed in pollen grains, pollen tubes and roots. Mutation in MRI by a Ds insertion led to a burst of pollen tubes after pollen germination. Pollen-rescue assay by pollen and pollen tubespecific expression of MRI in the mri-4 mutant showed that loss of MRI function also severely affected root hair elongation. MRI protein interacted with the protein kinase OXIDATIVE SIGNAL INDUCIBLE1(OXI1) in the in vitro and in vivo assays, which functions in plant defence and root hair development, and was phosphorylated by OXI1 in vitro. Our results suggest that MRI plays important roles in pollen tube growth and may function in root hair elongation through interaction with OXI1. | Hong-Ze Liao Meng-Meng Zhu Hong-Hui Cui Xin-Yu Du Yu Tang Li-Qun Chen De Ye Xue-Qin Zhang | 2016 | Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2016,58,11: | 2
ECOLOGICAL EFFECTS OF NITROGEN DEPOSITION ON URBAN FORESTS: AN OVERVIEW显示文摘The global urban area is expanding continuously, resulting in unprecedented emissions and deposition of reactive nitrogen(N)in urban environments. However, large knowledge gaps remain in the ecological effects of N deposition on urban forests that provide key ecosystem services for an increasing majority of city dwellers. The current understanding of the spatial patterns and ecological effects of N deposition in urban forests was synthesized based on a literature review of observational and experimental studies.Nitrogen deposition generally increases closer to cities, resulting in an urban hotspot phenomenon.Chemical components of N deposition also shift across urban-suburban-rural gradients, showing higher ratios of ammonium to nitrate in and around urban areas. The ecological effects of N deposition on urban forest ecosystems are overviewed with a special focus on ecosystem N cycling, soil acidification, nutrient imbalances, soil greenhouse gas emissions, tree growth and forest productivity, and plant and soil microbial diversity. The distinct effects of unprecedented N deposition on urban forests are discussed in comparison with the common effects in natural forests.Despite the existing research efforts, several key research needs are highlighted to fill the knowledge gaps in the ecological effects of N deposition on urban forests. | Enzai DU Nan XIA Yuying GUO Yuehan TIAN Binghe LI Xuejun LIU Wim DE VRIES | 2022 | Frontiers of Agricultural Science and Engineering2022,9,3: | 2
Preprocessing method of night vision image application in apple harvesting robot显示文摘Due to the low working efficiency of apple harvesting robots, there is still a long way to go for commercialization. The machine performance and extended operating time are the two research aspects for improving efficiencies of harvesting robots, this study focused on the extended operating time and proposed a round-the-clock operation mode.Due to the influences of light, temperature, humidity, etc.,the working environment at night is relatively complex, and thus restricts the operating efficiency of the apple harvesting robot.Three different artificial light sources(incandescent lamp, fluorescent lamp, and LED lights)were selected for auxiliary light according to certain rules so that the apple night vision images could be captured. In addition,by color analysis, night and natural light images were compared to find out the color characteristics of the night vision images, and intuitive visual and difference image methods were used to analyze the noise characteristics. The results showed that the incandescent lamp is the best artificial auxiliary light for apple harvesting robots working at night, and the type of noise contained in apple night vision images is Gaussian noise mixed with some salt and pepper noise. The preprocessing method can provide a theoretical and technical reference for subsequent image processing. | Weikuan Jia Yuanjie Zheng De’an Zhao Xiang Yin Xiaoyang Liu Ruicheng Du | 2018 | International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2018,11,2: | 2
| 15 | Weld Models Incorporating the HAZ Phase Transformation Effects, Comparison between Experimental and Numerical Results显示文摘Numerical simulations of a representative test of welding process are presented in this paper. A French vessel steel, which involves metallurgical phase transformations in solid state is considered in this work. The aim is to validate the thermal-metallurgical-mechanical models taking into account the metallurgical transformations in the finite element codes Sysweld (Framasoft) and Code Aster (EDF). The test is performed on a thin disc submitted to a thermal cycle loading by means of a CO2 laser beam, which leads to metallurgical phase transformations. The thermal, metallurgical and mechanical numerical results have been compared to the experimental results (temperatures, sizes of transformed zones, displacements and residual stresses and strains). The main objective of the numerical analysis is to have some results which enable to give some indications on the ability of the numerical codes to describe the observed phenomena. For that, it is necessary to simulate accurately the thermo-metallurgical history. The comparison of experimental results with the numerical ones leads to some interesting orientations related to the capacities of the considered models to describe the observed phenomena. | V.
