1Kinetics and mechanisms of p-nitrophenol biodegradation by Pseudomonas aeruginosa HS-D38显示文摘The kinetics and mechanisms of p-nitrophenol(PNP)biodegradation by Pseudomonas aeruginosa HS-D38 were investigated. PNP could be used by HS-D38 strain as the sole carbon,nitrogen and energy sources,and PNP was mineralized at the maximum concentration of 500 mg/L within 24 h in an mineral salt medium(MSM).The analytical results indicated that the biodegradation of PNP fit the first order kinetics model.The rate constant kPNP is 2.039×10-2/h in MSM medium,KPNP+N is 3.603×10-2/h with the addition of ammonium chloride and KPNP+C is 9.74×10-3/h with additional glucose.The addition of ammonium chloride increased the degradation of PNP.On the contrary,the addition of glucose inhibited and delayed the biodegradation of PNP.Chemical analysis results by thin-layer chromatography(TLC),UV-Vis spectroscopy and gas chromatography(GC)techniques suggested that PNP was converted to hydroquinone(HQ)and further degraded via 1,2,4-benzenetriol(1,2,4-BT)pathway.ZHENG Yongliang LIU Deli LIU Shiwang XU Shangying YUAN Yongze XIONG Li 2009Journal of Environmental Sciences2009,21,9:6

5Current re-vegetation patterns and restoration issues in degraded geological phosphorus-rich mountain areas:A synthetic analysis of Central Yunnan, SW China显示文摘China has the largest area of inland geological phosphorus-rich(GPR) mountains in the world, where vegetation restoration is key to safeguarding the environment. We reviewed the published literature and collected new data in order to analyze re-vegetation patterns and the status of plant communities in central Yunnan. The aim of our analysis was to suggest future improvements to restoration strategies in GPR mountain regions. Our results showed that spontaneous recovery was the most widespread type of restoration. N-fixing species such as Coriaria nepalensis and Alnus nepalensis play a vital role in succession. In the past, monoculture tree plantation was the primary method used in afforestation activities in central Yunnan; in recent years however, several different methods of restoration have been introduced including the use of agroforestry systems. For practical restoration, we found that spontaneous recovery was capable of delivering the best results, but that during its early stages, restoration results were affected by several factors including erosion risk, the origin of propagates and environmental variation. In contrast, methods employing human-made communities performed better in their early stages, but were constrained by higher costs and vulnerability to degradation and erosion. The use of N-fixing species such as A. nepalensis and Acacia mearnsii in plantations were unsuccessful in restoring full ecosystem functions. 6Lost in transition: Forest transition and natural forest loss in tropical China显示文摘The term forest transition refers to a change in forest cover over a given area from a period of net forest area loss to a period of net gain. Whether transitioning from deforestation to reforestation can lead to improved ecosystem services, depends on the quality and characteristics of the newly established forest cover. Using publicly available data, we examine forest transition in two regions of tropical China: Hainan Island and Xishuangbanna. We found that the overall increase of forest cover in both areas during the1980 s was due to an increase in plantation forests rather than to increases in the area covered by natural forest. We also found a time lag between the increase in overall forest cover and an increase in natural forest. On Hainan Island, natural forest continued to decline beyond the point in time when overall forest cover had started to increase, and only began to recover ten years after the turning point in 1978. In Xishuangbanna, where the transition point occurred ten years later, the decline of natural forest cover is still going on. These divergent trends underlying forest transition are concealed by the continued practice to apply the term 'forest' broadly, without distinguishing between natural forests and planted forests.Due to the use of undiscriminating terminology, the loss of natural forest may go unnoticed, increasing the risk of plantation forests displacing natural forests in the course of forest transition. 8Impairment of cellular and humoral immunity in overweight Mongolian gerbils (Meriones unguiculatus)显示文摘Animal immunity is usually impaired in obesity.We know little about the effect of being overweight or obese on the immune function of wild rodents.The present study is aimed to test the hypothesis that immunity is suppressed in overweight Mongolian gerbils(Meriones unguiculatus).In the study,16 overweight(body mass:90.8-127.6 g)and 16 lean gerbils(body mass:60.5-77.7 g)were randomly selected from a total of 174 male gerbils(body mass range:55.8-144.7 g).Half of the overweight and lean males were injected with sterile saline;the others were immunochallenged(IC)with phytohaemagglutinin and keyhole limpet hemocyanin to assess cellular and humoral immunity,respectively.Body fat mass,wet and dry spleen mass,leukocyte counts,blood glucose levels and serum leptin levels were significantly higher in the overweight gerbils than in the lean gerbils.However,phytohemagglutinin response indicative of cellular immunity and immunoglobulin G concentrations was significantly lower in the IC overweight gerbils than in the IC lean gerbils.These results indicate that cellular and humoral immunity are impaired in the overweight gerbils.Excessive body fat mass,higher leukocyte counts and serum leptin levels imply that overweight gerbils are in a low grade inflammatory state.Deli XU Xinyu LIU Dehua WANG 2011Integrative Zoology2011,6,4:1
9The PDZ-Containing Unconventional Myosin XVIIIA Regulates Embryonic Muscle Integrity in Zebrafish显示文摘Myosin XVIIIA, or MYO18 A, is a unique PDZ domain-containing unconventional myosin and is evolutionarily conserved from Drosophila to vertebrates. Although there is evidence indicating its expression in the somites, whether it regulates muscle function remains unclear. We show that the two zebrafish myo18 a genes(myo18aa and myo18ab) are predominantly expressed at somite borders during early developmental stages. Knockdown of these genes or overexpression of the MYO18 A PDZ domain disrupts myofiber integrity, induces myofiber lesions, and compromises the localization of dystrophin, a-dystroglycan(a-DG) and laminin at the myotome boundaries. Cell transplantation experiments indicate that myo18 a morphant myoblasts fail to form elongated myofibers in the myotomes of wild-type embryos, which can be rescued by the full-length MYO18 A protein. 10Wear-resistant Ag-MAX phase 3D interpenetrating-phase composites:Processing,structure,and properties显示文摘Electrical contact materials are generally Ag-or Cu-based composites and play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of electrical equipments and electronic instruments.The MAX(M is an early transition metal,A is an element from III or IV main groups,and X is carbon or/and nitrogen)phase ceramics display a unique combination of properties and may serve as an ideal reinforcement phase for electrical contact materials.The biological materials evolved in nature generally exhibit three-dimensional(3D)interpenetrating-phase architectures,which may offer useful inspiration for the architectural design of electrical contact materials.Here,a series of bi-continuous Ag-Ti_(3)SiC_(2) MAX phase composites with high ceramic contents exceeding 50 vol.%and having micron-and ultrafine-scaled 3D interpenetrating-phase architectures,wherein both constituents were continuous and mutually interspersed,were exploited by pressureless infiltration of Ag melt into partially sintered Ti_(3)SiC_(2) scaffolds.The mechanical and electrical properties as well as the friction and wear performance of the composites were investigated and revealed to be closely dependent on the ceramic contents and characteristic structural dimensions.The composites exhibited a good combination of properties with high hardness over 2.3 GPa,high flexural strength exceeding 530 MPa,decent fracture toughness over 10 MPa·m^(1/2),and good wear resistance with low wear rate at an order of 10^(-5)mm^(3)/(N·m),which were much superior compared to the counterparts made by powder metallurgy methods.In particular,the hardness,electrical conductivity,strength,and fracture toughness of the composites demonstrated a simultaneous improvement as the structure was refined from micron-to ultrafine-scales at equivalent ceramic contents.The good combination of properties along with the facile processing route makes the Ag-Ti_(3)SiC_(2)3D interpenetrating-phase composites appealing for electrical contact applications.Yu Guo Xi Xie Zengqian Liu Longchao Zhuo Jian Zhang Shaogang Wang Qiqiang Duan Qing Jia Dake Xu Weihai Xue Deli Duan Filippo Berto Zhefeng Zhang Rui Yang 2024Nano Research2024,17,2:1

15Pandemic Bonds Issued by the Chinese Government Supported Post-Disaster Recovery from COVID-19 Pandemic显示文摘During the SARS-CoV-2(COIVD-19)outbreak,China repeatedly stressed that the response to the pandemic required action at all levels of government,including the issuance of Pandemic Bonds to help the country return to work and production.However,studies on the effectiveness of Pandemic Bonds during that period are rare.Starting with China’s national financial bond market data after COVID-19 in 2020,this paper focuses on the correlation between the Credit Spreads of the relevant bonds and the corresponding bond market rate of return,based on the Copula model.The empirical analysis is also carried out for multiple dimensional groupings such as enterprises,industries,provinces,and bond maturities.The results show that there is a significant positive correlation between the Credit Spreads of Pandemic Bonds and market returns.In addition,the market correlation is higher for Pandemic Bonds issued in Hubei Province,which is at the center of the 2020 pandemic,and the shorter the maturity of the Pandemic Bond issued,the stronger the relationship with market returns.Finally,this paper provides recommendations for financial regulators and policy makers to consider in their decisions on how to build a more resilient financial system under heavy economic,fiscal,and social pressures.Feng Liu Deli Kong Jinhua Kong Shiying Lu Zilong Xiao Qing Xu Aimin Zhou Jiayin Qi 2022Journal of Social Computing2022,3,2:0

17Boosting alkaline hydrogen electrooxidation on an unconventional fcc-Ru polycrystal显示文摘Precisely controlling the crystalline phase structure and exposed facets at the atomic level opens up a new avenue for efficient catalyst design.Along this line,we report an unconventional face-centered cubic(fcc)Ru with twinned structure and stacking-fault defects as a competent electrocatalyst towards alkaline hydrogen oxidation reaction(HOR),which is now a major obstacle for the commercialization of anion exchange membrane fuel cells(AEMFC).With conventional hexagonal close packing(hcp)Ru as the counterpart,a novel scope from the phase-engineering is introduced to identify the activity origin and provide fundamental understanding of the sluggish HOR kinetics in alkaline medium.Systematic electrochemical analysis assisted by deconvoluting the hydrogen(H)desorption peaks indicates the superior performance of fcc Ru origins from the structure defects and higher proportion of the most active sites.DFT calculations,together with CO-stripping voltammograns further corroborate the stronger hydroxyl species(OH^(*))affinity lead to the higher activity on these sites.Meanwhile,it also demonstrates the H^(*)adsorption/desorption on polycrystalline Ru among the conventional'hydrogen region'is accompanied by the surface bound OH^(*)in alkaline medium,which is of great significance for subsequent alkaline HOR exploration and catalyst design.Tonghui Zhao Dongdong Xiao Yi Chen Xi Tang Mingxing Gong Shaofeng Deng Xupo Liu Jianmin Ma Xu Zhao Deli Wang 2021Journal of Energy Chemistry2021,30,10:0
18Acoustic numerical simulation for VTI media显示文摘The generality to anisotropy of the earth media can be proved by a lot of research and observation,which is shown by the elastic parameters of the seismic wave changes with the direction of propagation.Actually,computational efficiency is very low,when simulating on the elastic anisotropic media,for the complicated and multi-parameters computation,which becomes a disadvantage to the succeeding migration and imaging procedure.Using acoustic approximation in the VTI media is an advisable simplification for the elastic wave simulation in that setting S-velocity into zero can greatly reduce the computational amount as well as get the same simulation effect.The authors get an acoustic approximation formula,then gain an anisotropic wave equation with 2-order in time and 4-order in space by inverse Fourier transformation,and dispel with the dispersion by adopting the high order finite difference operator in space and remove the edge reflection using the absorption attenuation boundary.Finally,the feasibility and effectiveness of this algorithm can be proved by the snaps and synthetic records.XU Shibo WANG Deli 2013Global Geology2013,16,4:0
19Human-caused increases in reactive nitrogen burial in sediment of global lakes显示文摘Human activities have increased reactive nitrogen(Nr)input to terrestrial ecosystems compared with the pre-industrial era.However,the fate of such Nr input remains uncertain,leading to missing sink of the global nitrogen budget.By synthesizing records of Nr burial in sediments from 303 lakes worldwide,here we show that 9.6±1.1 Tg N year^(-1)(Tg=10^(12) g)accumulated in inland water sediments from 2000 to 2010,accounting for 3%-5% of global Nr input to the land from combined natural and anthropogenic pathways.The recent Nr burial flux doubles pre-industrial estimates,and Nr burial rate significantly increases with global increases in human population and air temperature.Sediment ratios of C:N decrease after 1950 while N:P ratios increase over time due to increasingly elevated Nr burial and other related processes in lakes.These findings imply that Nr burial in lakes is overlooked as an important global sink of Nr input to terrestrial ecosystems.Mei Wang Benjamin Z.Houlton Sitong Wang Chenchen Ren Hans J.Mvan Grinsven Deli Chen Jianming Xu Baojing Gu 2021The Innovation2021,2,4:0
