1Studies on the pathogenic bacterium of ulcer disease in Epinephelus awoara显示文摘Studies were conducted to determine the cause of the acute mortality of cage-cultured Epinephelus awoara in the Tong’an Bay of Xiamen, China during the summer of 2002. Predominant bacteria strain TS- 628 was isolated from the diseased grouper. The virulence test confirmed that TS- 628 was the pathogenic bacterium. Biochemical characteristics of the isolates were determined using the automatic bacterial identification system and standard tube tests. To further confirm the identification, a 1 121 bp 16S rRNA gene sequence of the isolate was amplified by PCR, which had been deposited into Genbank (accession number: AY747308). According to the biochemical characteristics and by comparing the 16S rRNA gene homology of the isolate, the pathogenic bacterium was identified as Vibrio harveyi. 2Total phenolic, flavonoid content, and antioxidant activity of flour, noodles, and steamed bread made from different colored wheat grains by three milling methods显示文摘The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of wheat variety, food processing, and milling method on antioxidant properties. Black wheat variety Heibaoshi 1 had the highest total phenolic content(659.8 μg gallic acid equivalents g-1), total flavonoid content(319.3 μg rutin equivalents g-1), and antioxidant activity, whereas light purple wheat variety Shandongzimai 1 had the lowest total flavonoid content(236.2 μg rutin equivalents g-1) and antioxidant activity. Whole wheat flour and partially debranned grain flour had significantly higher total phenolic contents, total flavonoid contents, and antioxidant activity than refined flour(P < 0.05). Compared with flour, total phenolic contents, total flavonoid contents and antioxidant activity decreased in noodles and steamed bread, whereas noodles had slightly higher total phenolic and flavonoid content than steamed bread. Antioxidant activities(by ferric reducing ability of plasma assay) of steamed bread made from whole wheat flour, partially debranned grain flour, and refined flour were 23.5%, 21.1%, and 31.6% lower, respectively, than the corresponding values of flour. 3Parallelizing of macro-scale pseudo-particle modeling for particle-fluid systems显示文摘A parallel algorithm suitable for simulating multi-sized particle systems and multi- phase fluid systems is proposed based on macro-scale pseudo-particle modeling (MaPPM). The algorithm employs space-decomposition of the computational load among the processing ele- ments (PEs) and multi-level cell-subdivision technique for particle indexing. In this algorithm, a 2D gas-solid system is simulated with the temporal variations of drags on solids, inter-phase slip velocities and solids concentration elaborately monitored. 4Effects of polygonatum sibiricum polysaccharide on learning and memory in a scopolamine-induced mouse model of dementia显示文摘BACKGROUND: Learning and memory processes are accompanied by complex neuropathological and biochemical changes. Free radicals play an important role in learning and memory damage. OBJECTIVE: To observe the effects of polygonatum sibiricum polysaccharide (PSP) in comparison with vitamin E on inhibiting free radical damage, as well as improving the degree of cerebral ischemia and learning and memory in a scopolamine-induced mouse model of dementia. DESIGN: Randomized controlled animal study. SETTINGS: Department of Pharmacology, Taishan Medical College; Shandong Jewim Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. MATERIALS: A total of 105 healthy Kunming mice, comprising 90 males and 15 females that were clean grade, were provided by the Animal Center of Taishan Medical College. PSP (extracted and purified by Huangjing, Taishan) was provided by the Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Taishan Medical College (purity of 79.6% by using a phenol-concentrated sulphate acid method), and hydrogen bromine acid scopolamine injection solution (SCO) by Shanghai Hefeng Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. METHODS: This study was performed at the Pharmacological Laboratory of Taishan Medical College from March to June 2007. ① A total of 75 healthy Kunming male mice of clean grade were randomly divided into a normal control group, positive control group, and low-dosage and high-dosage PSP groups, with 15 mice in each group. Mice in both the low-dosage and high-dosage PSP groups were intragastrically administered 0.5 g/kg and 2.0 g/kg PSP, respectively. Mice in the positive control group were intragastrically administered 0.5 g/kg vitamin E. In addition, mice in both the normal control group and model group were intragastrically administered the same volume of saline, respectively, once a day for 7 consecutive days. One hour after the final administration on day 6, mice in the positive control group, model group, low-dosage and high-dosage PSP groups were subcutaneously injected with 3.0 mg/kg SCO, while mice in the normal control group were subcutaneously injected with the same volume of distilled water. Ten minutes later, the step test was employed to measure memory. The training was performed 5 times, with 30-minute intervals between 2 sets. If the mice remained on the platform (latent period) for 30 minutes, they were determined to have learned the task. An eligible percentage was then recorded. Twenty-four hours later, the number of error responses from each mouse was recorded in a 5-minute period, based on the above-mentioned parameters. Mice were sacrificed under anesthesia. The activities of glutathione hyperoxide enzyme (GSH-Px), superoxide dismutase (SOD), and the content of malondialdehyde (MDA) were assayed using an UV spectrophotometer. ② The remaining 30 healthy Kunming mice of both genders were randomly divided into 3 groups, including control group, low-dosage PSP group, and high-dosage PSP group, with 10 mice in each group. Mice in both the low-dosage and high-dosage PSP groups were intragastrically administered 0.5 g/kg and 2.0 g/kg PSP, respectively, while the mice in the control group were perfused with the same volume of saline. Forty minutes later, the mice under superficial anesthesia were decapitated, and the number and duration of mouth-opening breaths of the isolated mouse head were immediately recorded. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURE: ① Numbers of error responses within 5 minutes on the platform. ② GSH-Px and SOD activity, as well as MDA content in mouse brain tissue. ③ Numbers and duration of mouth-opening breaths of the isolated mouse head. RESULTS: Of the 105 Kunming experimental mice, two mice died due to electric shock during the step-down test, therefore, a total of 103 mice were involved in the final analysis. ① Effects of PSP on learning in mice: The eligible percentage in the high-dosage PSP group was higher than the control group at the 3rd and 5th training sessions (P < 0.05). ② Effects of PSP on memory in mice: The number of errors in the step-down test in the model group was higher than in the normal control group (P < 0.01). Compared tothe model group, the number of errors in the step-down test was lower in both the low-dosage and high-dosage PSP groups (P < 0.01). ③ Effects of PSP on amount of GSH-Px, SOD, and MDA in mouse brain tissue: SOD and GSH-Px activity was higher in both the low-dosage and high-dosage PSP groups than in the model group. MDA content was lower in the high-dosage PSP group, compared to the model group. GSH-Px activity in the brain tissue of the high-dosage PSP group was similar to the positive control group (P > 0.05). ④ Effects of PSP on acute cerebral ischemia in mice: The low-dosage PSP, and in particular the high-dosage PSP, prolonged the number and duration of mouth-opening breaths of the isolated mouse head (P < 0.05, 0.01). CONCLUSION: PSP can improve learning and memory in a scopolamine-induced mouse model of dementia by reducing the damaging effects of cerebral ischemia and anti-oxidation. 5Synthesis and antitumor activities of a new series of 4,5-dihydro-1H-thiochromeno[4,3-d]pyrimidine derivatives显示文摘A new series of 4,5-dihydro-1H-thiochromeno[4,3-d]pyrimidine derivatives have been designed and synthesized.The antitumor activities of the target compounds have been evaluated in vitro against two human cancer cell lines including A549 (human alveolar adenocarcinoma cell) and H460 (human lung cancer) by MTT assay.Most of the target compounds exhibited significant antitumor activities against A549 and H460 cancer cell lines.The most potent compound 4-(benzo[d][1,3]dioxol5-yl)-8,9-difluoro-2-(4-methylpiperazin-1-yl)-4,5-dihydro-1H-thiochromeno[4,3-d]pyrimidine (CH05) (IC50=0.44 M,3.07 M) was 2.0 and 8.4 times more active than gefitinib (IC50=0.89 M,16.81 M) against A549 and H460 cell lines,respectively.GUO DeXiang LIU YaJing LI Ting WANG Nan ZHAI Xin HU Chun GONG Ping 2012Science China Chemistry2012,55,3:2
6Debonding Patch Detection in FRP-Strengthened Materials with Fiber-Optic Interferometer显示文摘The interfacial debonding in fiber-reinforced plastic(FRP)strengthened repair material will affect the bonding strength and lead to failure of the repair without warning.Unfortunately the interfacial damage is normally invisible and often in the form of a patch rather than a through-width crack.Therefore,a debonding patch detection technique based on fiber optic interferometry is proposed.A quasi-impulse loading is applied with a rubberhead hammer and the total elongation of a surface-mounted optical fiber along the length of the repair material is measured as a function of load position.When a debonding patch is present,the induced sudden slope or sign change on the plot of fiber integral strain v.s.load position will reveal the extent and the location of the debonded area.The results of the study indicate that the proposed technique is applicable for debonding patch detection in repaired members under various support conditions.Xu Ying Wang Dexiang Tang Tianyou Lu Miaomiao 2017Transactions of Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics2017,34,3:1

11Responses of soil CH_(4) fluxes to nitrogen addition in two tropical montane rainforests in southern China显示文摘Background:Atmospheric nitrogen(N)deposition is projected to increase in the next few decades,which may have a marked impact on soil-atmosphere CH_(4) fluxes.However,the impacts of increased atmospheric N depositions on soil CH_(4) flux in tropical rainforests are still poorly understood.From January 2015 to December 2018,a field experiment was conducted in a primary tropical montane rainforest(PTMR)and a secondary tropical montane rainforest(STMR)in southern China to quantify the impact of N additions at four levels(N0:0 kg N⋅ha^(-1)⋅year^(-1);N25:25 kg N⋅ha^(-1)⋅year^(-1);N50:50 kg N⋅ha^(-1)⋅year^(-1);N100:100 kg N⋅ha^(-1)⋅year^(-1)on soil CH_(4) flux.Results:Four years of measurements showed clear seasonal variations in CH_(4) flux in all treatment plots for both forest types(PTMR and STMR),with lower rates of soil CH_(4) uptake during the wet season and higher rates of soil CH_(4) uptake during the dry season.Soil CH_(4) uptake rates were significantly and negatively correlated with both soil temperature and soil moisture for both forest types.Annual CH_(4) uptake for the N0 plots from the PTMR and STMR soils were2.20 and1.98 kg N⋅ha^(-1)⋅year^(-1),respectively.At the PTMR site,mean CH_(4) uptake compared with the N0 treatment was reduced by 19%,29%,and 36%for the N25,N50,and N100 treatments,respectively.At the STMR site,mean CH_(4) uptake compared with the N0 treatment was reduced by 15%,18%,and 38%for the N25,N50,and N100 treatments,respectively.High level N addition had a stronger inhibitory impact on soil CH_(4) uptake than did the low level N addition.Conclusion:Our data suggest that soil CH_(4) uptake in tropical rainforests is sensitive to N deposition.If atmospheric N deposition continues to increase in the future,the soil CH_(4) sink strength of tropical rainforests may weaken further.Fangtao Wu Changhui Peng Chuanyao Wang Huai Chen Weiguo Liu Zhihao Liu Hui Wang Hong Li Dexiang Chen Yide Li Shirong Liu 2022Forest Ecosystems2022,9,3:1

15Rodent-mediated plant community competition:what happens to the seeds after entering the adjacent stands?显示文摘Background:Seed dispersal by scatter-hoarding animals can affect the developmental dynamics of plant communities.However,how animals might participate in plant inter-community competition has rarely been investigated.Forest community junction is an area where the competition between plant communities is most prominent and animal activity is more frequent.At present,little is known about how scatter-hoarding animals might assist competitions by adjacent plant communities.Thus,for 3 years(2015–2017),we tracked the fate of 2880 tagged seeds(Quercus aliena var.acuteserrata,Pinus tabuliformis,and P.armandii seed)placed near an edge where the forest composition changes from a pine forest to an oak forest in northwestern China.Results:We found that the seed fates differed when Quercus and Pinus seeds entered adjacent stands.In contrast to Pinus seeds,acorns that entered pine forests were characterized by higher caching rates and longer dispersal distances.Pinus seeds had the highest probability of being predated(85%)by rodents,and eleven Q.aliena var.acuteserrata seedlings were established in pine forests,although none survived in the later stages.In addition,rodents exhibited obvious selectivity in terms of the microhabitats for the seed caching sites.Conclusions:Seed fates differed when Quercus and Pinus seeds entered adjacent stands.The predation pressure by rodents on the seeds of Pinus species limited the germination of seeds and seedling establishment in oak forests.The different seed fates after their bidirectional dispersal could affect the differences in natural regeneration between pine and oak forests,and they might increase the recruitment rates for oak at the edge of an adjacent community.Rodent-mediated seed dispersal could potential unintentionally affect the competition between plant communities.Haibin Kang Mingjie Chang Shutong Liu Zhi Chao Xinping Zhang Dexiang Wang 2020Forest Ecosystems2020,7,4:1

20Comparative studies on some genetic characteristics among four large yellow croaker (Pseudosciaena crocea) populations显示文摘The genetic structure was compared among four large yellow croaker (Pseudosciaena crocea) populations, an important aquaculture species in China. RAPD and ISSR results show that the genetic distances between domestic stocks and their wild counterparts are significantly larger than those between the three wild stocks. The sequence of mtDNA cyt b shows that the three wild populations share the same sequence, with differences in the four bases from the cultured stock: two transitions [57(C-T), 291(G-A)] and two transversions [66(C-G),223(A-C)]. Cluster analysis reveals that the domestic stock has diverged from its parental wild stock [Min—Yuedong (Fujian Province—eastern Guangdong Province, China) stock].
