| 1 | Expenditure and financial burden for the diagnosis and treatment of colorectal cancer in China:a hospital.based,multicenter,cross-sectional survey显示文摘Background: The increasing prevalence of colorectal cancer(CRC) in China and the paucity of information about relevant expenditure highlight the necessity of better understanding the financial burden and effect of CRC diagnosis and treatment. We performed a survey to quantify the direct medical and non-medical expenditure as well as the resulting financial burden of CRC patients in China.Methods: We conducted a multicenter, cross-sectional survey in 37 tertiary hospitals in 13 provinces across China between 2012 and 2014. Each enrolled patient was interviewed using a structured questionnaire. All expenditure data were inflated to the 2014 Chinese Yuan(CNY; 1 CNY = 0.163 USD). We quantified the overall expenditure and financial burden and by subgroup(hospital type, age at diagnosis, sex, education, occupation, insurance type, household income, clinical stage, pathologic type, and therapeutic regimen). We then performed generalized linear modeling to determine the factors associated with overall expenditure.Results: A total of 2356 patients with a mean age of 57.4 years were included, 57.1 % of whom were men; 13.9% of patients had stage I cancer; and the average previous-year household income was 54,525 CNY.The overall average direct expenditure per patient was estimated to be 67,408 CNY, and the expenditures for stage Ⅰ, Ⅱ, Ⅲ, and Ⅳ disease were 56,099 CNY, 59,952 CNY, 67,292 CNY, and 82,729 CNY, respectively. Non-medical expenditure accounted for 8.3%of the overall expenditure. The 1-year out-of-pocket expenditure of a newly diagnosed patient was 32,649 CNY, which accounted for 59.9% of their previous-year household income and caused 75.0% of families to suffer an unmanageable financial burden. Univariate analysis showed that financial burden and overall expenditure differed in almost all subgroups(P < 0.05), except for sex. Multivariate analysis showed that patients who were treated in specialized hospitals and those who were diagnosed with adenocarcinoma or diagnosed at a later stage were likely to spend more,whereas those with a lower household income and those who underwent surgery spent less(all P < 0.05).Conclusions: For patients in China, direct expenditure for the diagnosis and treatment of CRC seemed catastrophic,and non-medical expenditure was non-ignorable. | 3 | Facile preparation of pH-responsive PEGylated prodrugs for activated intracellular drug delivery显示文摘PEGylated prodrug,covalent attaching polyethylene glycol(PEG) polymer chains to therapeutic drugs,is one of the most promising techniques to improve the water-solubility,stability,and therapeutic effect of drugs.In this study,three PEGylated acid-sensitive prodrugs DOX-PEG-DOX with different molecular weights,were prepared via Schiff-base reaction between aldehyde-modified PEG and the amino groups of doxorubicin(DOX).This kind of amphiphilic polymeric prodrug could be self-assemble into nanoparticles in aqueous solution.The average particle size and morphologies of the prodrug nanoparticles under different pH conditions were observed by dynamic light scattering(DLS) and transmission electron microscopy(TEM),re s pectively.It turned out that the nanoparticles could be kept stable in the physiological environment,but degraded in acidic medium.Subsequently,we also investigated in vitro drug release behavior and found that the prodrug had acid-sensitive property.The cytotoxicity and intracellular uptake assays revealed that the prodrugs could rapidly internalized by HeLa or HepG2 cells to release DOX and effectively inhibited the proliferation of the tumor cells,which have the potential for use in cancer therapy. | Yue Song Dian Li Jinlin He Mingzu Zhang Peihong Ni | 2019 | Chinese Chemical Letters2019,30,12: | 3 |
| 4 | Effect of water on extractive desulfurization of fuel oils using ionic liquids: A COSMO-RS and experimental study显示文摘When evaluating ionic liquids(ILs) for extractive desulfurization(EDS) of fuel oils, the inevitable presence of water in the system may have a significant and in many cases strongly negative effect. However, few studies have considered this particular issue and a promoted water effect on EDS is scarcely reported. In this work,COSMO-RS was firstly employed to calculate the capacity and selectivity for EDS of various IL/H_2 O mixtures,which cover different IL characters and a wide water concentration range. Experiments were then conducted with a representative IL [C_4MIM][H_2PO_4], whose stable and even promoted extraction performance with a small amount of water was suggested by COSMO-RS. Through analyses of the desulfurization ratio, the crosssolubility and the water content in the desulfurized fuel, the promoted effect of water within a certain range(b 10 wt%) was experimentally demonstrated. | 8 | Photonic Bandgap Properties of Atom-lattice Photonic Crystals in Polymer显示文摘The present paper covers the various photonic crystals(PhCs) structures mimicking real atom-lattice structures in electronic crystals by using the femtosecond laser-induced two-photon photopolymerization of SU-8 resin. The bandgap properties were investigated by varying the crystal orientations in <111>, <110> and <100> of diamond-lattice PhCs. The photonic stop gaps were present at λ=3.88 μm in <111> direction, λ=4.01 μm in <110> direction and λ=5.30 μm in <100> direction, respectively. In addition, defects were introduced in graphite-lattice PhCs and the strong localization of photons in this structure with defects at λ=5 μm was achieved. | 10 | Molecular Cloning and Expression Analysis of AcFT3 in Allium cepa显示文摘Onion(Allium cepa L.) was an economic vegetable and a strictly biennial herb, which was widely distributed in the world. In the past, it was a strictly biennial plant, the studies had shown that FT(FLOWERING LOCUS T) gene was involved in the photoperiod pathway to regulate flowering in the model plant. In this study, transcriptome sequencing method was used to obtain cDNA sequence of FT homologous gene in onion, named AcFT3(KF864665). AcFT3 had a full-length of 540 bp, encoded 179 amino acids, with 98.31% homology to AfFT(Allium fistulosum), and 63.0%-84.0% homology to other higher plants. Phylogenetic tree analysis indicated that AcFT3 had the closest relationship with AfFT. | 19 | Fabrication of crystalline submicro-to-nano carbon wire for achieving high current density and ultrastable current显示文摘Crystalline carbon nanowire arrays were fabricated taking advantage of near-field electrospinning and stress decyanation.A novel fabrication method for carbon nanowires with radii ranging from~2.15μm down to~25 nm was developed based on implementing nitrogen pretreatment on the silica surface and then aligning polymer nanofibers during near-field electrospinning at an ultralow voltage.Stress decyanation was implemented by subsequently pyrolyzing a polymer nanofiber array on the silica surface at 1000°C for 1 h in an N_(2)atmosphere,thus obtaining a crystalline carbon nanowire array with a nanostructured surface.Various crystalline nanostructures were fabricated on the nanowire surface,and their electrochemical performance was evaluated by cyclic voltammetry(CV)and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS).Crystalline carbon wires with diameters ranging from micrometers to submicrometers displayed carbon nanoelectrode-like behavior with their CV curve having a sigmoidal shape.A highly crystalline carbon nanowire array showed distinct behavior,having a monotonically increasing straight line as its CV curve and a semicircular EIS spectrum;these results demonstrated its ultrastable current,as determined by electron transfer.Furthermore,nanocrystalline-structured carbon wires with diameters of~305 nm displayed at least a fourfold higher peak current density during CV(4000 mA/m2)than highly crystalline carbon nanowires with diameters of~100 nm and porous microwires with diameters of~4.3μm. | Jufeng Deng Chong Liu Dian song Marc Madou | 2022 | Microsystems & Nanoengineering2022,8,1: | 1 |
| 20 | The role of senescence-associated gene101 (PagSAG101a) in the regulation of secondary xylem formation in poplar显示文摘Wood is produced by the accumulation of secondary xylem via proliferation and differentiation of the cambium cells in woody plants. Identifying the regulators involved in this process remains a challenging task. In this study, we isolated Pag SAG101 a,the homolog of Arabidopsis thaliana SAG101, from a hybrid poplar(Populus alba × Populus glandulosa)clone 84 K and investigated its role in secondary xylem development. Pag SAG101 a was expressed predominantly in lignified stems and localized in thenucleus.
