| 1 | An invasive zone in human liver cancer identified by Stereo-seq promotes hepatocyte–tumor cell crosstalk,local immunosuppression and tumor progression显示文摘Dissecting and understanding the cancer ecosystem,especially that around the tumor margins,which have strong implications for tumor cell infiltration and invasion,are essential for exploring the mechanisms of tumor metastasis and developing effective new treatments.Using a novel tumor border scanning and digitization model enabled by nanoscale resolution-SpaTial Enhanced REsolution Omics-sequencing(Stereo-seq),we identified a 500µm-wide zone centered around the tumor border in patients with liver cancer,referred to as“the invasive zone”.We detected strong immunosuppression,metabolic reprogramming,and severely damaged hepatocytes in this zone.We also identified a subpopulation of damaged hepatocytes with increased expression of serum amyloid A1 and A2(referred to collectively as SAAs)located close to the border on the paratumor side.Overexpression of CXCL6 in adjacent malignant cells could induce activation of the JAK-STAT3 pathway in nearby hepatocytes,which subsequently caused SAAs’overexpression in these hepatocytes.Furthermore,overexpression and secretion of SAAs by hepatocytes in the invasive zone could lead to the recruitment of macrophages and M2 polarization,further promoting local immunosuppression,potentially resulting in tumor progression.Clinical association analysis in additional five independent cohorts of patients with primary and secondary liver cancer(n=423)showed that patients with overexpression of SAAs in the invasive zone had a worse prognosis.Further in vivo experiments using mouse liver tumor models in situ confirmed that the knockdown of genes encoding SAAs in hepatocytes decreased macrophage accumulation around the tumor border and delayed tumor growth.The identification and characterization of a novel invasive zone in human cancer patients not only add an important layer of understanding regarding the mechanisms of tumor invasion and metastasis,but may also pave the way for developing novel therapeutic strategies for advanced liver cancer and other solid tumors. | Liang Wu Jiayan Yan Yinqi Bai Feiyu Chen Xuanxuan Zou Jiangshan Xu Ao Huang Liangzhen Hou Yu Zhong Zehua Jing Qichao Yu Xiaorui Zhou Zhifeng Jiang Chunqing Wang Mengnan Cheng Yuan Ji Yingyong Hou Rongkui Luo Qinqin Li Liang Wu Jianwen Cheng Pengxiang Wang Dezhen Guo Waidong Huang Junjie Lei Shang Liu Yizhen Yan Yiling Chen Sha Liao Yuxiang Li Haixiang Sun Na Yao Xiangyu Zhang Shiyu Zhang Xi Chen Yang Yu Yao Li Fengming Liu Zheng Wang Shaolai Zhou Huanming Yang Shuang Yang Xun Xu Longqi Liu Qiang Gao Zhaoyou Tang Xiangdong Wang Jian Wang Jia Fan Shiping Liu Xinrong Yang Ao Chen Jian Zhou | 2023 | Cell Research2023,33,8: | 1 |

| 3 | Design of flexible inorganic thermoelectric devices for decrease of heat loss显示文摘Thermoelectric(TE)devices can realize the conversion of heat energy and electrical power based on Seebeck effect and Peltier effect.Among them,flexible TE devices have received more attention recently due to their better attachment to various heat sources and aimed components with arbitrary shapes.To improve the performance of flexible TE devices for various application scenarios,large efforts have been made to design the leg patterns,the electrical and thermal contact issues,and the substrate and encapsulation materials for the decrease of heat loss.This paper is to review the advancements about the design of flexible inorganic TE devices over the last decade.Firstly,the design of flexible thin-film TE devices based on the direction of temperature gradient,including the patterns of TE legs,the fabrication methods,and the flexible substrate materials is summarized.Secondly,the design of wearable TE devices that contains common architecture of the module,the substrates and encapsulations,the electrical and thermal contact,and some thin-film based wearable devices with curving TE legs is demonstrated.Thirdly,the characterizations of the flexibility of TE devices and the current applications are outlined.Moreover,some views about the future development for TE devices are proposed. | Defang Ding Fengming Sun Fan Xia Zhiyong Tang | 2021 | Nano Research2021,14,7: | 1 |

| 7 | Microstructural influences on the high cycle fatigue life dispersion and damage mechanism in a metastable β titanium alloy显示文摘In this work,the effect of microstructure features on the high-cycle fatigue behavior of Ti-7Mo-3Nb-3Cr-3Al(Ti-7333)alloy is investigated.Fatigue tests were carried out at room temperature in lab air atmosphere using a sinusoidal wave at a frequency of 120 Hz and a stress ratio of 0.1.Results show that the fatigue strength is closely related to the microstructure features,especially theα_(p) percentage.The Ti-7333 alloy with a lowerα_(p) percentage exhibits a higher scatter in fatigue data.The bimodal fatigue behavior and the duality of the S-N curve are reported in the Ti-7333 alloy with relatively lowerα_(p) percentage.Crack initiation region shows the compoundα_(p)/βfacets.Facetedα_(p) particles show crystallographic orientation and morphology dependence characteristics.Crack-initiation was accompanied by faceting process across elongatedα_(p) particles or multiple adjacentα_(p) particles.These particles generally oriented for basal slip result in near basal facets.Fatigue crack can also initiate at elongatedα_(p) particle well oriented for prismatic slip.Theβfacet is in close correspondence to{110}or{112}plane with high Schmid factor.Based on the fracture observation and FIB-CS analysis,three classes of fatigue-critical microstructural configurations are deduced.A phenomenological model for the formation ofα_(p) facet in the bimodal microstructure is proposed.This work provides an insight into the fatigue damage process of theβprecipitate strengthened metastableβtitanium alloys. | Zhihong Wu Hongchao Kou Nana Chen Zhixin Zhang Fengming Qiang Jiangkun Fan Bin Tang Jinshan Li | 2021 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,11: | 0 |
| 8 | The structure of the compound eyes and phototaxis in two phenotypes of the bean pest Callosobruchus maculatus(Coleoptera:Bruchinae)显示文摘Callosobruchus maculatus(Fabricius,1775)(Coleoptera:Bruchinae)is a destructive agricultural pest that is harmful to beans worldwide and an important quarantine pest in China.It was divided into two phenotypes based on polyphenism:normal and flight forms.In this study,we first compared the morphological structures of the compound eyes of the two forms.According to the results of scanning electron microscopy(SEM),transmission electron microscopy(TEM),microcomputed tomography(micro-CT),and computer three-dimensional reconstruction,there are no differences in the structures of the compound eyes between the normal and flight forms except for the number of ommatidia.From the internal structure,the compound eyes have a biconvex cornea with open rhabdom and acone eye,crystalline cone directly connected with rhabdom,and no clear zone.It is a kind of apposition eye.Ommatidia facets range in shape from quadrilateral to hexagonal and some irregular shapes.On electroretinograms(ERGs),the normal and flight forms showed different spectral sensitivities:the normal form had the strongest response to ultraviolet light,whereas the flight form had the strongest response to white light.Behavioral assays revealed that the normal and flight forms showed completely opposite phototaxis behaviors;the flight form exhibited positive phototaxis,whereas the normal form exhibited negative phototaxis.This study not only enriches our knowledge on coleopteran compound eyes but also provides a foundation for in-depth research on the photoreceptor mechanisms of compound eyes,which may be useful in pest control management. | Zhong Du Tianhao Zhang Fengming Wu Zulong Liang Xiaokun Liu Muinde Jacob Weili Fan Lei Jiang Lijie Zhang Siqin Ge Guohong Wang | 2023 | Zoological Systematics2023,48,3: | 0 |

| 11 | Efficacy of early prone or lateral positioning in patients with severe COVID-19:a single-center prospective cohort显示文摘Background:Position intervention has been shown to improve oxygenation,but its role in non-invasively ventilated patients with severe COVID-19 has not been assessed.The objective of this study was to investigate the efficacy of early position intervention on non-invasively ventilated patients with severe COVID-19.Methods:This was a single-center,prospective observational study in consecutive patients with severe COVID-19 managed in a provisional ICU at Renmin Hospital of Wuhan University from 31 January to 15 February 2020.Patients with chest CT showing exudation or consolidation in bilateral peripheral and posterior parts of the lungs were included.Early position intervention(prone or lateral)was commenced for>4 hours daily for 10 days in these patients,while others received standard care.Results:The baseline parameters were comparable between the position intervention group(n=17)and the standard care group(n=35).Position intervention was well-tolerated and increased cumulative adjusted mean difference of SpO_(2)/FiO_(2)(409,95%CI 86 to 733)and ROX index(26,95%CI 9 to 43)with decreased Borg scale(−9,95%CI−15 to−3)during the first 7 days.It also facilitated absorption of lung lesions and reduced the proportion of patients with high National Early Warning Score 2(≥7)on days 7 and 14,with a trend toward faster clinical improvement.Virus shedding and length of hospital stay were comparable between the two groups.Conclusions:This study provides the first evidence for improved oxygenation and lung lesion absorption using early position intervention in non-invasively ventilated patients with severe COVID-19,and warrants further randomized trials. | Zhong Ni Kaige Wang Ting Wang Yuenan Ni Wei Huang Ping Zhu Tao Fan Ye Wang Bo Wang Jun Deng Zhicheng Qian Jiasheng Liu Wenhao Cai Shanling Xu Yu Du Gang Wang Zongan Liang Weimin Li Jianfei Luo Fengming Luo Dan Liu | 2020 | Precision Clinical Medicine2020,3,4: | 0 |
