1Efficacy of cattle encephalon glycoside and ignotin in patients with acute cerebral infarction: a randomized, double-blind, parallel-group, placebo-controlled study显示文摘Cattle encephalon glycoside and ignotin(CEGI)injection is a compound preparation formed by a combination of muscle extract from hea lthy rabbits and brain gangliosides from cattle,and it is generally used as a neuroprotectant in the treatment of central and peripheral nerve injuries.However,there is still a need for high-level clinical evidence from large samples to support the use of CEGI.We therefore carried out a prospective,multicenter,randomized,double-blind,parallel-group,placebo-controlled study in which we recruited 319 patients with acute cerebral infarction from 16 centers in China from October 2013 to May 2016.The patients were randomized at a 3:1 ratio into CEGI(n=239;155 male,84 female;61.2±9.2 years old)and placebo(n=80;46 male,34 female;63.2±8.28 years old)groups.All patients were given standard care once daily for 14 days,including a 200 mg aspirin enteric-coated tablet and 20 mg atorvastatin calcium,both taken orally,and intravenous infusion of 250–500 mL 0.9%sodium chloride containing 40 mg sodium tanshinone IIA sulfonate.Based on conventional treatment,patients in the CEGI and placebo groups were given 12 mL CEGI or 12 mL sterile water,respectively,in an intravenous drip of 250 mL 0.9%sodium chloride(2 mL/min)once daily for 14 days.According to baseline National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale scores,patients in the two groups were divided into mild and moderate subgroups.Based on the modified Rankin Scale results,the rate of patients with good outcomes in the CEGI group was higher than that in the placebo group,and the rate of disability in the CEGI group was lower than that in the placebo group on day 90 after treatment.In the CEGI group,neurological deficits were decreased on days 14 and 90 after treatment,as measured by the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale and the Barthel Index.Subgroup analysis revealed that CEGI led to more significant improvements in moderate stroke patients.No drug-related adverse events occurred in the CEGI or placebo groups.In conclusion,CEGI may be a safe and effective treatment for acute cerebral infarction patients,especially for moderate stroke patients.This study was approved by the Ethical Committee of Peking University Third Hospital,China(approval No.2013-068-2)on May 20,2013,and registered in the Chinese Clinical Trial Registry(registration No.ChiCTR1800017937).Hui Zhang Chuan-Ling Li Feng Wan Su-Juan Wang Xiu-E Wei Yan-Lei Hao Hui-Lin Leng Jia-Min Li Zhong-Rui Yan Bao-Jun Wang Ren-Shi Xu Ting-Min Yu Li-Chun Zhou Dong-Sheng Fan 2020Neural Regeneration Research2020,15,7:54
2Clinical characteristics of fatal and recovered cases of coronavirus disease 2019 in Wuhan,China:a retrospective study显示文摘Background:The 2019 novel coronavirus has caused the outbreak of the acute respiratory disease in Wuhan,Hubei Province of China since December 2019.This study was performed to analyze the clinical characteristics of patients who succumbed to and who recovered from 2019 novel coronavirus disease(COVID-19).Methods:Clinical data were collected from two tertiary hospitals in Wuhan.A retrospective investigation was conducted to analyze the clinical characteristics of fatal cases of COVID-19(death group)and we compare them with recovered patients(recovered group).Continuous variables were analyzed using the Mann-WhitneyU test.Categorical variables were analyzed byχ2 test or Fisher exact test as appropriate.Results:Our study enrolled 109 COVID-19 patients who died during hospitalization and 116 recovered patients.The median age of the death group was older than the recovered group(69[62,74]vs.40[33,57]years,Z=9.738,P<0.001).More patients in the death group had underlying diseases(72.5%vs.41.4%,χ2=22.105,P<0.001).Patients in the death group had a significantly longer time of illness onset to hospitalization(10.0[6.5,12.0]vs.7.0[5.0,10.0]days,Z=3.216,P=0.001).On admission,the proportions of patients with symptoms of dyspnea(70.6%vs.19.0%,χ2=60.905,P<0.001)and expectoration(32.1%vs.12.1%,χ2=13.250,P<0.001)were significantly higher in the death group.The blood oxygen saturation was significantly lower in the death group(85[77,91]%vs.97[95,98]%,Z=10.625,P<0.001).The white blood cell(WBC)in death group was significantly higher on admission(7.23[4.87,11.17]vs.4.52[3.62,5.88]×109/L,Z=7.618,P<0.001).Patients in the death group exhibited significantly lower lymphocyte count(0.63[0.40,0.79]vs.1.00[0.72,1.27]×109/L,Z=8.037,P<0.001)and lymphocyte percentage(7.10[4.45,12.73]%vs.23.50[15.27,31.25]%,Z=10.315,P<0.001)on admission,and the lymphocyte percentage continued to decrease during hospitalization(7.10[4.45,12.73]%vs.2.91[1.79,6.13]%,Z=5.242,P<0.001).Alanine transaminase(22.00[15.00,34.00]vs.18.70[13.00,30.38]U/L,Z=2.592,P=0.010),aspartate transaminase(34.00[27.00,47.00]vs.22.00[17.65,31.75]U/L,Z=7.308,P<0.001),and creatinine levels(89.00[72.00,133.50]vs.65.00[54.60,78.75]μmol/L,Z=6.478,P<0.001)were significantly higher in the death group than those in the recovered group.C-reactive protein(CRP)levels were also significantly higher in the death group on admission(109.25[35.00,170.28]vs.3.22[1.04,21.80]mg/L,Z=10.206,P<0.001)and showed no significant improvement after treatment(109.25[35.00,170.28]vs.81.60[27.23,179.08]mg/L,Z=1.219,P=0.233).The patients in the death group had more complications such as acute respiratory distress syndrome(ARDS)(89.9%vs.8.6%,χ2=148.105,P<0.001),acute cardiac injury(59.6%vs.0.9%,χ2=93.222,P<0.001),acute kidney injury(18.3%vs.0%,χ2=23.257,P<0.001),shock(11.9%vs.0%,χ2=14.618,P<0.001),and disseminated intravascular coagulation(DIC)(6.4%vs.0%,χ2=7.655,P=0.006).Conclusions:Compared to the recovered group,more patients in the death group exhibited characteristics of advanced age,pre-existing comorbidities,dyspnea,oxygen saturation decrease,increased WBC count,decreased lymphocytes,and elevated CRP levels.More patients in the death group had complications such as ARDS,acute cardiac injury,acute kidney injury,shock,and DIC.Yan Deng Wei Liu Kui Liu Yuan-Yuan Fang Jin Shang Ling Zhou Ke Wang Fan Leng Shuang Wei Lei Chen Hui-Guo Liu 2020Chinese Medical Journal2020,,11:29

5Credit Risk Transfer in SME Loan Guarantee Networks显示文摘Joint loan guarantee contracts and mutual guarantee contracts among SMEs form the basis of SME guarantee networks. The expansion of these networks increases the fragility of a financial system as a result of the regional and industrial risk contagion embedded within them. By providing a theoretical framework of a loan guarantee network, a method is proposed for calculating the amount of risk spillover caused by loan guarantees taking the perspective of the entire network. In addition,the route of risk contagion in guarantee networks is analyzed, revealing that when default risk shocks occur, risk contagion travels along the nodes not once but for several rounds and that the risk control of one firm cannot prevent these systemic risks. Therefore, a risk control scheme is designed based on the location and importance of firms in the network. 6Three-dimensional-printed individualized porous implants:A new“implant-bone”interface fusion concept for large bone defect treatment显示文摘Bone defect repairs are based on bone graft fusion or replacement.Current large bone defect treatments are inadequate and lack of reliable technology.Therefore,we aimed to investigate a simple technique using three-dimensional(3D)-printed individualized porous implants without any bone grafts,osteoinductive agents,or surface biofunctionalization to treat large bone defects,and systematically study its long-term therapeutic effects and osseointegration characteristics.Twenty-six patients with large bone defects caused by tumor,infection,or trauma received treatment with individualized porous implants;among them,three typical cases underwent a detailed study.Additionally,a large segmental femur defect sheep model was used to study the osseointegration characteristics.Immediate and long-term biomechanical stability was achieved,and the animal study revealed that the bone grew into the pores with gradual remodeling,resulting in a long-term mechanically stable implant-bone complex.Advantages of 3D-printed microporous implants for the repair of bone defects included 1)that the stabilization devices were immediately designed and constructed to achieve early postoperative mobility,and 2)that osseointegration between the host bone and implants was achieved without bone grafting.Our osseointegration method,in which the“implant-bone”interface fusion concept was used instead of“bone-bone”fusion,subverts the traditional idea of osseointegration.Teng Zhang Qingguang Wei Hua Zhou Zehao Jing Xiaoguang Liu Yufeng Zheng Hong Cai Feng Wei Liang Jiang Miao Yu Yan Cheng Daoyang Fan Wenhao Zhou Xinhong Lin Huijie Leng Jian Li Xinyu Li Caimei Wang Yun Tian Zhongjun Liu 2021Bioactive Materials2021,6,11:9
7World’s first spaceflight on-orbit demonstration of a flexible solar array system based on shape memory polymer composites显示文摘With a 10%reversible compressive strain in more than 10 deformation cycles,the shape memory polymer composites(SMPCs)could be used for deployable structure and releasing mechanism.In this paper,without traditional electro-explosive devices or motors/controllers,the deployable SMPC flexible solar array system(SMPC-FSAS)is studied,developed,ground-based tested,and finally on-orbit validated.The epoxy-based SMPC is used for the rolling-out variable-stiffness beams as a structural frame as well as an actuator for the flexible blanket solar array.The releasing mechanism is primarily made of the cyanate-based SMPC,which has a high locking stiffness to withstand 50 g gravitational acceleration and a large unlocking displacement of 10 mm.The systematical mechanical and thermal qualification tests of the SMPC-FSAS flight hardware were performed,including sinusoidal sweeping vibration,shocking,acceleration,thermal equilibrium,thermal vacuum cycling,and thermal cycling test.The locking function of the SMPC releasing mechanisms was in normal when launching aboard the SJ20 Geostationary Satellite on 27 Dec.,2019.The SMPC-FSAS flight hardware successfully unlocked and deployed on 5 Jan.,2020 on geostationary orbit.The triggering signal of limit switches returned to ground at the 139 s upon heating,which indicated the successful unlocking function of SMPC releasing mechanisms.A pair of epoxy-based SMPC rolled variable-stiffness tubes,which clapped the flexible blanket solar array,slowly deployed and finally approached an approximate 100%shape recovery ratio within 60 s upon heating.The study and on-orbit successful validation of the SMPC-FSAS flight hardware could accelerate the related study and associated productions to be used for the next-generation releasing mechanisms as well as space deployable structures,such as new releasing mechanisms with low-shocking,testability and reusability,and ultra-large space deployable solar arrays.LAN Xin LIU LiWu ZHANG FengHua LIU ZhengXian WANG LinLin LI QiFeng PENG Fan HAO SiDa DAI WenXu WAN Xue TANG Yong WANG Mian HAO YanYan YANG Yang YANG Cheng LIU YanJu LENG JinSong 2020Science China(Technological Sciences)2020,63,8:7
8Fabric Defect Detection Using Independent Component Analysis and Phase Congruency显示文摘A novel method based on independent component analysis and phase congruency is proposed for detecting defects in textile fabric images. By independent component, we can obtain textile structural features of fabric-free images. By phase congruency, structure information is reduced, which can distinguish the defect region from the defect-free regions. Finally, we have the detecting result from binary image which is obtained by a threshold step. 9Evaluation and optimization of blasting approaches to reducing oversize boulders and toes in open-pit mine显示文摘A new blasting approach of combined blastholes with different diameters is proposed to solve the problems of oversize boulders and rock toes in open-pit mine. A non-ideal detonation model and a statistical damage constitutive model are implemented in dynamic finite element analysis to investigate the formation mechanism of oversize boulders and toes. The damage distribution and evolution process of rock blasting fragmentation is simulated, and the scheme is further optimized. Numerical analysis results showed that pocket charges and satellite blastholes can only improve bench top fragmentation, but they cannot reduce the oversize in the middle and bottom of bench as well as the toe problem. 10The effects of air temperature and precipitation on the net primary productivity in China during the early 21st century显示文摘Research on how terrestrial ecosystems respond to climate change can reveal the complex interactions between vegetation and climate,net primary productivity (NPP),an important vegetation parameter and ecological indicator,fluctuates within any given ecological environment or regional carbon budget.In this study, spatial interpolation was used to generate a spatial dataset, with 1-km spatial resolution,with meteorological data from 736 observation stations across China.An improved CASA model was used to simulate NPP over the period of 2001-2013 by taking into account land-cover change in every year during the same period.We propose the grid- based spatial patterns and dynamics of annual NPP,annual average temperature,and annual total precipitation based on the model.We also used the model to demonstrate the spatial correlation between NPP,temperature,and pre- cipitation in the study area with special focus on the impact of climate change in the early 21st century.Results showed that the spatial pattern of NPP over all of China is characterized by higher values in the southeast and lower values in the northwest.The spatial pattern of temperature indicates substantial latitudinal differences across the country,and the spatial pattem of precipitation shows a ribbon of decline from the southeast coast to the northwest inland.Most areas show an upward trend in NPP. 11Functionalized graphene oxide based on p-phenylenediamine as spacers and nitrogen dopants for high performance supercapacitors显示文摘p-Phenylenediamine(PPD)functionalized graphene oxide(GO)materials(PPDG)were prepared through a one-step solvothermal process and their application as supercapacitors(SCs)were studied.The PPD is not only as the spacers to prevent aggregating and restacking of the graphene sheets in the preparing process but also as nitrogen sources to obtain the nitrogen-doped graphene.The structures of PPDG were characterized by Fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR),X-ray diffraction spectroscopy(XRD),Raman spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)and the results show that the nitrogen-doped graphene was achieved with nitrogen content as high as 10.85 at.%.The field emission scanning electron microscopy(FE-SEM)and high resolution transmission electron microscopy(HR-TEM)have confirmed that the morphologies of PPDG were loose layered with less aggregation,indicating that PPD molecules,as spacers,effectively prevent the graphene sheets from restacking during the solvothermal reaction.The special loose textures make PPDG materials exhibit excellent electrochemical performance for symmetric SCs with superior specific capacitance(313 F/g at 0.1 A/g),rate capability and cycling stability.The present synthesis method is convenient and may have potential applications as ultrahigh performance SCs.Yanhong Lu Yi Huang Fan Zhang Long Zhang Xi Yang Tengfei Zhang Kai Leng Mingjie Zhang Yongsheng Chen 2014Chinese Science Bulletin2014,59,16:5
12Hepatic perivascular epithelioid cell tumor in three patients显示文摘Perivascular epithelioid cell tumor(PEComa) is a rare, soft tissue tumor that can occur in various locations. The present report included three patients(one male and two females; age range, 25-51 years) with hepatic PEComas. The collected data included the clinical manifestations, diagnosis, management, treatment, and prognosis. Since it is difficult to diagnose hepatic PEComas by imaging, the patients were diagnosed by tumor tissue examination such as immunohistochemistry, which was positive for HMB-45, Melan-A, and SMA on all slides. The tumor was composed of diverse tissues including smooth muscle, adipose tissue, and thick-walled blood vessels. During the follow-up period, one of the tumors was malignant(double-positive for CD34 and Ki-67) and recurred 3 months after surgery. In addition, malignant hepatic PEComas were reviewed in the literature, indicating that the majority of hepatic PEComas are benign, but few hepatic PEComas exhibit malignant behaviors in older female patients(>50 years of age) with abdominal discomfort and pain, larger tumor size(>10 cm), or positive staining for CD34 and Ki-67. In conclusion, there is no effective method to diagnose PEComas. Currently, the diagnosis of PEComas depends on immunohistochemical staining. 14The ethyl acetate extraction of Pileostegia tomentella(ZLTE) exerts anti-cancer effects on H1299 cells via ROS-induced canonical apoptosis显示文摘Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death and the most common malignant tumor, the long-term survival of which has stagnated in the past several decades.Pileostegia tomentella Hand.Mazz is a traditional Chinese medicine called 'Zhongliuteng'(ZLT) in the pharmacopeia, which has been proved to possess a potent anti-tumor effect on various cancers.In this study, the effects of ZLT N-butanol extraction(ZLTN) and ZLT ethyl acetate extraction(ZLTE) on the viability of non-small cell lung cancer cell(NSCLC) lines H1299 and A549 were evaluated.Here, we firstly reported that ZLTE significantly inhibited H1299 cells growth without affecting the release of lactate dehydrogenase(LDH).In addition, ZLTE induced caspase-dependent apoptosis in a concentration-dependent manner and increased the expression cleaved-PARP and decreased pro-caspase-3, pro-caspase-7, pro-caspase-8, and pro-caspase-9.Moreover, ZLTE increased the level of cellular reactive oxygen species(ROS) in H1299 cells to lead to apoptosis,which was reversed by N-acetyl-cysteine(NAC).Taken together, our results revealed that ZLTE induced caspase-dependent apoptosis via ROS generation, suggesting that ZLTE is a promising herbal medicine for the treatment of NSCLC.FAN Qiu-Mei ZHAO Wen-Tong YUAN Renyikun WANG Qin-Qin ZHANG Li-Feng GAO Hong-Wei LENG Jing YANG Shi-Lin 2020Chinese Journal of Natural Medicines2020,18,7:4
15Catalytic methanation of syngas over Ni-based catalysts with different supports显示文摘Co-precipitation method was selected for the preparation of Ni/Al_2O_3, Ni/ZrO_2 and Ni/CeO_2 catalysts, and their performances in methanation were investigated in this study. The structure and surface properties of these catalysts were characterized by BET, XRD, H_2-TPD, TEM and H_2-TPR. The results showed that the catalytic activity at low temperature followed the order: Ni/Al_2O_3>Ni/ZrO_2>Ni/CeO_2. Ni/Al_2O_3 catalyst presented the best catalytic performance with the highest CH_4 selectivity of 94.5%. 17Changes of chymase,angiotensin converting enzyme and angiotensin Ⅱ type 1 receptor expressions in the hamster heart during the development of heart failure显示文摘Background Little is known about the role of dual angiotensin Ⅱ forming pathways during heart failure. In the present study, the changes of chymase and angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) expressions in the failing hearts of hamsters were analysed.Methods Heart failure was induced by ligation of left anterior descending branch of the coronary artery. Chymase, ACE and angiotensin Ⅱ type 1 receptor (AT1R) mRNA levels were analysed by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). The activities of chymase and ACE were determined by radioimmunoassay (RIA). Myocardial collagen fibre analysis was performed under optical microscope.Results Left ventricular systolic pressure (LVSP) and maximum left ventricular developed pressure increase rate (dp/dtmax , mmHg/s) gradually moved lower at 2, 3, 4 and 8 weeks after operation. On the other hand, left ventricular end-diastolic pressure (LVEDP) increased gradually after operation. Compared with the control group (3.55±0.06, 4.79±0.70), the heart weight/body weight ratio in operation group had increased significantly at 4 weeks and 8 weeks (4.28±0.43, 6.17±0.73) (P<0.01). Collagen staining showed that the quantity of myocardial collagen fibre increased significantly in the operation group. RT-PCR showed that the chymase mRNA level in the operation group was consistently greater than that in the control group. AT1R mRNA level was also increased significantly at 3 weeks and 4 weeks, both being 1.3 times that of the control group (P<0.01), whereas ACE mRNA level was not changed. Higher activity of chymase was detected in operation group, being 4, 8, 13 and 19 times that of the control group at 2, 3, 4 and 8 weeks (P<0.01), respectively. ACE activity was also significantly higher at the same time, being 7, 10, 10 and 3.5 times that of the control (P<0.01). Angiotensin Ⅱ (Ang Ⅱ) level in operation group increased significantly, being 2.5, 2.7, 3.5 and 2 times that of the control group at 2, 3, 4 and 8 weeks, respectively (P<0.01).Conclusions A dual Ang Ⅱ forming pathway from both ACE and chymase in the hamster hearts plays an important role during the development of heart failure.
