| 1 | Identification of a novel coronavirus causing severe pneumonia in human:a descriptive study显示文摘Background:Human infections with zoonotic coronaviruses(CoVs),including severe acute respiratory syndrome(SARS)-CoV and Middle East respiratory syndrome(MERS)-CoV,have raised great public health concern globally.Here,we report a novel batorigin CoV causing severe and fatal pneumonia in humans.Methods:We collected clinical data and bronchoalveolar lavage(BAL)specimens from five patients with severe pneumonia from Wuhan Jinyintan Hospital,Hubei province,China.Nucleic acids of the BAL were extracted and subjected to next-generation sequencing.Virus isolation was carried out,and maximum-likelihood phylogenetic trees were constructed.Results:Five patients hospitalized from December 18 to December 29,2019 presented with fever,cough,and dyspnea accompanied by complications of acute respiratory distress syndrome.Chest radiography revealed diffuse opacities and consolidation.One of these patients died.Sequence results revealed the presence of a previously unknownβ-CoV strain in all five patients,with 99.8%to 99.9%nucleotide identities among the isolates.These isolates showed 79.0%nucleotide identity with the sequence of SARS-CoV(GenBank NC_004718)and 51.8%identity with the sequence of MERS-CoV(GenBank NC_019843).The virus is phylogenetically closest to a bat SARS-like CoV(SL-ZC45,GenBank MG772933)with 87.6%to 87.7%nucleotide identity,but is in a separate clade.Moreover,these viruses have a single intact open reading frame gene 8,as a further indicator of bat-origin CoVs.However,the amino acid sequence of the tentative receptor-binding domain resembles that of SARS-CoV,indicating that these viruses might use the same receptor.Conclusion:A novel bat-borne CoV was identified that is associated with severe and fatal respiratory disease in humans. | Li-Li Ren Ye-Ming Wang Zhi-Qiang Wu Zi-Chun Xiang Li Guo Teng Xu Yong-Zhong Jiang Yan Xiong Yong-Jun Li Xing-Wang Li Hui Li Guo-Hui Fan Xiao-Ying Gu Yan Xiao Hong Gao Jiu-Yang Xu Fan Yang Xin-Ming Wang Chao Wu Lan Chen Yi-Wei Liu Bo Liu Jian Yang Xiao-Rui Wang Jie Dong Li Li Chao-Lin Huang Jian-Ping Zhao Yi Hu Zhen-Shun Cheng Un-Lin Liu Zhao-Hui Qian Chuan Qin Qi Jin Bin Cao Jian-Wei Wang | 2020 | Chinese Medical Journal2020,,9: | 99 |
| 2 | Physical activity among Chinese school-aged children:National prevalence estimates from the 2016 Physical Activity and Fitness in China The Youth Study显示文摘Purpose: This study was to present national estimates of participating in moderate-to-vigorous physical activity(MVPA) and adherence to the recommendations of 60 min/day of MVPA among Chinese school-aged children and to assess demographic differences in MVPA.Methods: Cross-sectional analyses of data from the 2016 Physical Activity and Fitness in China—The Youth Study. Participants were 90,712 primary, junior middle, and junior high school children(boy: 47%; girl: 53%), recruited from 1204 rural and urban schools across 32 administrative provinces and regions in the Mainland of China. Main outcomes were(a) average MVPA minutes per day in the previous 7 days by self-reports and(b) percentage meeting MVPA recommendations.Results: Average MVPA time was 45.4 min/day, with boys having more MVPA(47.2 min/day) than girls(43.7 min/day) overall and across the 3 school grade categories. About 30% of participants met MVPA recommendations, with a higher percentage of boys(32%) than girls(28%) overall and across the 3 grades categories. Urban school children outperformed rural children in terms of MVPA time. Overall, boys were more likely to meet MVPA recommendations(adjusted odds ratio(a OR) = 1.19, 95% confidence interval(CI): 1.16–1.22) compared with girls; children in higher grades(junior middle(a OR = 0.92, 95%CI: 0.87–0.98) and junior high(a OR = 0.59, 95%CI: 0.53–0.66)) were less likely to meet recommendations compared with primary school children. The odds of meeting recommendations did not differ between urban and rural children(p = 0.07),but urban boys were found to be more likely to meet recommendations compared with rural boys(a OR = 1.14, 95%CI: 1.06–1.19).Conclusion: Overall, the average MVPA minutes per day among Chinese school-aged children is low, and less than one-third of them meet MVPA recommendations. | 5 | Circular RNA circ-LDLRAD3 as a biomarker in diagnosis of pancreatic cancer显示文摘AIM To analyze the diagnostic value of a circular RNA(circR NA), circ-LDLRAD3, in pancreatic cancer.METHODS Expression levels of circ-LDLRAD3 were tested in both cells and clinical samples; the latter included 30 paired pancreatic cancer tissues and adjacent non-tumorous tissues, 31 plasma samples from patients with pancreatic cancer, and 31 plasma samples from healthy volunteers. Real-time quantitative reverse transcriptionpolymerase chain reaction(q RT-PCR) was performed to measure expression levels of circ-LDLRAD3 in cells and clinical samples; then, the relationship between clinicopathological factors of patient samples and expression of circ-LDLRAD3 in pancreatic cancer was analyzed. The diagnostic value of circ-LDLRAD3 was verified by receiver operating characteristic(ROC) curve analysis.RESULTS Circ-LDLRAD3 was up-regulated in pancreatic cancer cell lines(P < 0.01), pancreatic cancer tissues(P < 0.01), and plasma samples from patients with pancreatic cancer(P < 0.01). High expression of circLDLRAD3 was significantly associated with venous invasion, lymphatic invasion, and metastasis. | 7 | Clinical trial with traditional Chinese medicine intervention ''tonifying the kidney to promote liver regeneration and repair by affecting stem cells and their microenvironment'' for chronic hepatitis B-associated liver failure显示文摘AIM:To study the clinical efficacy of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)intervention'tonifying the kidney to promote liver regeneration and repair by affecting stem cells and their microenvironment'('TTK')for treating liver failure due to chronic hepatitis B.METHODS:We designed the study as a randomized controlled clinical trial.Registration number of Chinese Clinical Trial Registry is Chi CTR-TRC-12002961.A total of 144 patients with liver failure due to infection with chronic hepatitis B virus were enrolled in this randomized controlled clinical study.Participants were randomly assigned to the following three groups:(1)a modern medicine control group(MMC group,36patients);(2)a'tonifying qi and detoxification'('TQD')group(72 patients);and(3)a'tonifying the kidney to promote liver regeneration and repair by affecting stem cells and their microenvironment'('TTK')group(36patients).Patients in the MMC group received general internal medicine treatment;patients in the'TQD'group were given a TCM formula'tonifying qi and detoxification'and general internal medicine treatment;patients in the'TTK'group were given a TCM formula of'TTK'and general internal medicine treatment.All participants were treated for 8 wk and then followed at 48 wk following their final treatment.The primaryefficacy end point was the patient fatality rate in each group.Measurements of various virological and biochemical indicators served as secondary endpoints.The one-way analysis of variance and the t-test were used to compare patient outcomes in the different treatment groups.RESULTS:At the 48-wk post-treatment time point,the patient fatality rates in the MMC,'TQD',and'TTK'groups were 51.61%,35.38%,and 16.67%,respectively,and the differences between groups were statistically significant(P<0.05).However,there were no significant differences in the levels of hepatitis B virus DNA or prothrombin activity among the three groups(P>0.05).Patients in the'TTK'group had significantly higher levels of serum total bilirubin compared to MMC subjects(339.40μmol/L±270.09μmol/L vs 176.13μmol/L±185.70μmol/L,P=0.014).Serum albumin levels were significantly increased in both the'TQD'group and'TTK'group as compared with the MMC group(31.30 g/L±4.77g/L,30.72 g/L±2.89 g/L vs 28.57 g/L±4.56 g/L,P<0.05).There were no significant differences in levels of alanine transaminase among the three groups(P>0.05).Safety data showed that there was one case of stomachache in the'TQD'group and one case of gastrointestinal side effect in the'TTK'group.CONCLUSION:Treatment with'TTK'improved the survival rates of patients with liver failure due to chronic hepatitis B.Additionally,liver tissue was regenerated and liver function was restored. | Han-Min Li Zhi-Hua Ye Jun Zhang Xiang Gao Yan-Ming Chen Xin Yao Jian-Xun Gu Lei Zhan Yang Ji Jian-Liang Xu Ying-He Zeng Fan Yang Lin Xiao Guo-Guang Sheng Wei Xin Qi Long Qing-Jing Zhu Zhao-Hong Shi Lian-Guo Ruan Jia-Yao Yang Chang-Chun Li Hong-Bin Wu Sheng-Duo Chen Xin-La Luo | 2014 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2014,20,48: | 20 |
| 8 | Effect of notoginsenoside R1 on hepatic microcirculation disturbance induced by gut ischemia and reperfusion显示文摘AIM: To assess the effect of notoginsenoside R1 on hepatic microcirculatory disturbance induced by gut ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) in mice.METHODS: The superior mesenteric artery (SMA) of C57/BL mice was ligated for 15 min to induce gut ischemia followed by 30-min reperfusion. In another set of experiments, R1 was continuously infused (10 mg/kg per hour) from 10 min before I/R until the end of the investigation to study the influence of R1 on hepatic microcirculatory disturbance induced by gut I/R. Hepatic microcirculation was observed by inverted microscopy, and the vascular diameter, red blood cell (RBC) velocity and sinusoid perfusion were estimated. Leukocyte rolling and adhesion were observed under a laser confocal microscope. Thirty and 60 min after reperfusion, lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and aspartate transaminase (AST) in peripheral blood were determined. The expression of adhesion molecules CD11b/CD18 in neutrophils and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), interleukin-6 (IL-6) and monocyte chemotactic protein-1 (MCP-1) in plasma were evaluated by flow cytometry. E-selectin and intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1) in hepatic tissue were examined by immunofluorescence. RESULTS: After gut I/R, the diameters of terminal portal venules and central veins, RBC velocity and the number of perfused sinusoids were decreased, while the leukocyte rolling and adhesion, the expression of E-selectin in hepatic vessels and CD18 in neutrophils, IL-6, MCP-1, LDH, ALT and AST were increased. R1 treatment attenuated these alterations except for IL-6 and MCP-1.CONCLUSION: R1 prevents I/R-induced hepatic microcirculation disturbance and hepatocyte injury. | 10 | Minimally invasive surgery alone compared with intensity-modulated radiotherapy for primary stage I nasopharyngeal carcinoma显示文摘Background:The National Comprehensive Cancer Network guidelines recommend intensity-modulated radiotherapy(IMRT)as the primary curative treatment for newly diagnosed nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC),but the radiation-related complications and relatively high medical costs remain a consequential burden for the patients.Endoscopic nasopharyngectomy(ENPG)was successfully applied in recurrent NPC with radiation free and relatively low medical costs.In this study,we examined whether ENPG could be an effective treatment for localized stage I NPC.Methods:Ten newly diagnosed localized stage I NPC patients voluntarily received ENPG alone from June 2007 to September 2017 in Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center.Simultaneously,the data of 329 stage I NPC patients treated with IMRT were collected and used as a reference cohort.The survival outcomes,quality of life(QOL),and medical costs between two groups were compared.Results:After a median follow-up of 59.0 months(95%CI 53.4-64.6),no death,locoregional recurrence,or distant metastasis was observed in the 10 patients treated with ENPG.The 5-year overall survival,local relapse-free survival,regional relapse-free survival,and distant metastasis-free survival among the ENPG-treated patients was similar to that among the IMRT-treated patients(100%vs.99.1%,100%vs.97.7%,100%vs.99.0%,100%vs.97.4%,respectively,P>0.05).In addition,compared with IMRT,ENPG was associated with decreased total medical costs($4090.42±1502.65 vs.$12620.88±4242.65,P<0.001)and improved QOL scores including dry mouth(3.3±10.5 vs.34.4±25.8,P<0.001)and sticky saliva(3.3±10.5 vs.32.6±23.3,P<0.001).Conclusions:ENPG alone was associated with promising long-term survival outcomes,low medical costs,and satisfactory QOL and might therefore be an alternative strategy for treating newly diagnosed localized stage I NPC patients who refused radiotherapy.However,the application of ENPG should be prudent,and prospective clinical tri-als were needed to further verify the results. | You-Ping Liu Xing Lv Xiong Zou Yi-Jun Hua Rui You Qi Yang Le Xia Shao-Yan Guo Wen Hu Meng-Xia Zhang Si-Yuan Chen Mei Lin Yu-Long Xie Li-Zhi Liu Rui Sun Pei-Yu Huang Wei Fan Xiang Guo Ming-Huang Hong Ming-Yuan Chen | 2019 | Cancer Communications2019,39,1: | 17 |

| 14 | Technology of groundwater reservoir construction in goafs of shallow coalfields显示文摘In exploiting shallow coal resources in western China, conservation of water resources is often subjugated to considerations of safety and production in coal mines. In order to maintain a sustainable development in the Shenfu-Dongsheng coalfield, we propose a technology of constructing groundwater reservoirs in goafs in shallow coalfields to protect fragile ecological environments. Given the premise of safe production, we selected an appropriate goaf as the site for constructing a groundwater reservoir and used a mine water recharge technique in combination with other related techniques for effective water conservation. Then filtering and purification techniques were used to purify the mine water given the physical and chemical properties of mine water and its filling material, ,thereby greatly reducing suspended matter, calcium and other harmful ions in the water. With the potential of widely application, the research result has been successfully applied in the Daliuta coal mine, to great economic and ecological effect. | 15 | IL-10-producing regulatory B cells restrain the T follicular helper cell response in primary Sjögren’s syndrome显示文摘Increased numbers of T follicular helper(Tfh)cells have been implicated in the development of autoimmune diseases including primary Sjögren’s syndrome(pSS),but how the Tfh cell response is regulated during autoimmune pathogenesis remains largely unclear.Here,we first found negative correlations between IL-10^(+)regulatory B(Breg)cell numbers and Tfh cell responses and disease activity in patients with pSS and mice with experimental Sjögren’s syndrome(ESS).Moreover,we detected high expression of IL-10 receptor on Tfh cells and their precursors in both humans and mice.In culture,IL-10 suppressed human and murine Tfh cell differentiation by promoting STAT5 phosphorylation.By using an adoptive transfer approach and two-photon live imaging,we found significantly increased numbers of Tfh cells with enhanced T cell homing into B cell follicles in the draining cervical lymph nodes of RAG-2−/−mice transferred with IL-10-deficient B cells during ESS development compared with those of RAG-2−/−mice transferred with wild-type B cells.In ESS mice,CD19^(+)CD1d^(hi)CD5^(+)Breg cells with decreased IL-10 production exhibited severely impaired suppressive effects on T cell proliferation.Consistently,CD19^(+)CD24^(+)CD38^(hi) Breg cells from pSS patients showed significantly reduced IL-10 production with defective inhibitory function in the suppression of autologous Tfh cell expansion.Furthermore,the adoptive transfer of IL-10-producing Breg cells markedly suppressed the Tfh cell response and ameliorated ESS progression in ESS mice.Together,these findings demonstrate a critical role for IL-10-producing Breg cells in restraining the effector Tfh cell response during pSS development. | Xiang Lin Xiaohui Wang Fan Xiao Kongyang Ma Lixiong Liu Xiaoqi Wang Dong Xu Fei Wang Xiaofei Shi Dongzhou Liu Yan Zhao Liwei Lu | 2019 | Cellular & Molecular Immunology2019,16,12: | 13 |
| 16 | Impact of Cardiovascular Disease Deaths on Life Expectancy in Chinese Population显示文摘Objective We aimed to analyze the impact of cardiovascular disease(CVD) deaths on life expectancy(LE) in Chinese population and estimate the percentage reduction in CVD mortality needed to increase LE by 1 year from the current level, a national target of health improvement. Methods We used life tables, cause-elimination life tables, and age decomposition of LE with corrected mortality data from the National Disease Surveillance System in 2010. Results LE at birth of Chinese people was 73.24 years in 2010. Women had a longer LE than men, and urban population had a longer LE than rural population. CVD deaths resulted in a 4.79-year LE loss and premature deaths in people aged 25 to 64 years were responsible for a substantial part of LE loss from CVD. Death from ischemic heart disease and cerebrovascular diseases accounted for 69.2% of LE loss from CVD deaths and death from cerebrovascular diseases was the largest contributor. In rural men, 51.1% LE loss from CVD deaths was caused by cerebrovascular diseases. If there were no changes in mortality rates for all other diseases, a 27.4% reduction in CVD mortality would increase LE by 1 year in Chinese population. Conclusion There is a considerable impact of CVD deaths on LE. A 1-year LE increase in the future requires at least a 27.4% reduction in CVD mortality from the current level. | 17 | Insight-HXMT observations of the first binary neutron star merger GW170817显示文摘Finding the electromagnetic(EM) counterpart of binary compact star merger, especially the binary neutron star(BNS) merger,is critically important for gravitational wave(GW) astronomy, cosmology and fundamental physics. On Aug. 17, 2017,Advanced LIGO and Fermi/GBM independently triggered the first BNS merger, GW170817, and its high energy EM counterpart,GRB 170817 A, respectively, resulting in a global observation campaign covering gamma-ray, X-ray, UV, optical, IR, radio as well as neutrinos. The High Energy X-ray telescope(HE) onboard Insight-HXMT(Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope) is the unique high-energy gamma-ray telescope that monitored the entire GW localization area and especially the optical counterpart(SSS17 a/AT2017 gfo) with very large collection area(~1000 cm^2) and microsecond time resolution in 0.2-5 MeV. In addition,Insight-HXMT quickly implemented a Target of Opportunity(ToO) observation to scan the GW localization area for potential X-ray emission from the GW source. Although Insight-HXMT did not detect any significant high energy(0.2-5 MeV) radiation from GW170817, its observation helped to confirm the unexpected weak and soft nature of GRB 170817 A. Meanwhile,Insight-HXMT/HE provides one of the most stringent constraints(~10^(-7) to 10^(-6) erg/cm^2/s) for both GRB170817 A and any other possible precursor or extended emissions in 0.2-5 MeV, which help us to better understand the properties of EM radiation from this BNS merger. | 20 | Calculation of AlN and MnS Precipitation in Non-Oriented Electrical Steel Produced by CSP Process显示文摘Combining with the study of analogue experiments and test analysis, the kinetics of precipitation and growth of AlN and MnS in non-oriented electrical steel produced by the CSP process is calculated. The results show that the precipitate phase particles of AlN and MnS in typical non-oriented electrical steel grades produced by the CSP process have grown to some extent in the soaking stage, but the precipitation contents are less than 20% of the total contents of nitride and sulfide. The precipitate phase particles of AlN and MnS have precipitated almost after the hot rolling process.
